Removing PSE 4.0 on a mac

I have PSE 6 on my mac and want to remove 4. I notice that the presets etc are not the same. How do I, or should I combine them? There is no uninstall so what should I delete without harning PSE6.

There are multiple folders under presets. They are not identical in 4 and 6
because I added some in 4 before I got six. Can I just drag them into the
folders in 6? Do I just delete the app 4 and the rest get found by by 6 when
I open them?

you could see if that make of printer has an uninstaller (may come with the installer)
or go to preferences, print and fax, and press the minus key ( - ) which should maybe remove it. Or ,do a a find, then type in the make of printer, and anything that looks like a printer driver for that make, well, maybe it's gotta go

How do I remove PSE 7 after installing PSE 8?

After successfully installing PSE 8, I tried to remove PSE 7 from my Dell PC computer. However, PSE 7's icon is not displayed in Vista's "uninstall or change" window (the place where Vista shows all the installed programs). Only PSE 8's icon appears. If removing PSE-9 will Organizer actions stay in old version?

I want to give the trial version of PSE-9 a try to see if printer issues I have with PSE-8s orginizer have been fixed. If I use the organizer to inport and tag photos then decided to remove PSE-9 a month later and go back to using version 8 will the actions (and photos imported) taken in version 9 still be there in 8?

That is exactly what I wanted to know. I just got PSE-8 about 3 weeks ago with a new printer so wasn't too keen on upgrading so soon. I had a little trouble with PSE-8s print dialoge boxes so wanted to see if PSE-9 had the same problem and wanted to be able to go back if I decided to.

Open up your Finder and click on Go on the top menu bar. Select Computer and then double click Macintosh HD. In here delete the backup folder. Might be called backups.backupdb.

How about that QT that comes with Snow Leopard, is there a real need for two versions of the software to be installed?
QT is a "structure" integrated into the operating system. Removing it will likely corrupt the whole OS. As to Snow Leopard, there is only one QT "structure" embedded in the system. What you really have is two different player versions (QT X and QT 7) which actually access the same embedded routines. Removing the QT 7 Player would likely not cause any problems, but why bother. Simply leave it in your Utilities folder in case you ever want to use it or upgrade it to QT 7 Pro to access the extra features not accessible via any other Apple multimedia application/utility. You don't ever have to use it if you don't want to do so.

How to remove PSE 2 from a Mac?

Several years ago I purchased Photoshop Elements 2 on a CD and installed it on my Macintosh (OS X). Recently the program began acting oddly, saying "The command you entered could not be completed because the file is locked" even when the file was clearly not locked, and even when I had not selected any commands.
Two weeks ago I purchased an Epson scanner and it came with a CD of Photoshop Elements. Assuming that it was a newer version, I installed it from the CD. (It was in fact PSE 2). Now when I try to launch the application I get the splash screen, a message about loading plugins, brushes, fonts, etc., then the program crashes. "The application Photoshop Elements 2 has unexpectedly quit" appears on the screen. I have tried reinstalling from the older CD and the newer CD, moving the application folder to the trash and reinstalling, hunting down and removing the Adobe preference files and application support files both in my user account's Library and the root directory's Library, copying in the files from my backup drive, all to no avail. There is no Uninstaller on the CD.  
Can you tell me how to remove all remnants of this program from my Mac so that I can install it anew and use it? 
My operating system is OS X 10.4.11 "Tiger".

I have followed your advice, but the problem persists.
I trashed the application, the original user account preference files, the hard drive Library application support files for Photoshop Elements, and everything else Spotlight could find with Photoshop or PS2 in its name. I created a new user account, installed the application from the CD, and repaired Permissions. Launching the application brought up the splash screen, loaded all of the paintbrushes etc., then "The application Photoshop Elements quit unexpectedly". The Report file begins with the following information:
