Rendering squashes video/Crash

I have been using CS4 just fine using HD footage from 5D/7D.
I usually render everything and begin editing the HD files, however during the last render another program was updating DirectX... After the render finished, the preview monitor shows the video squashed into the bottom half of the monitor instead of taking up the full frame. It happens for all clips, through all projects, even new and old ones. If I try to render this squashed video, premiere crashes. Obviously if I cannot render the video, I can't edit, or add any effects or anything.
I have attempted a system restore with no luck (it refused to restore). Can anyone explain why or how this happened and how I can fix it?

For the System Restore, have you attempted doing this from Safe Mode? I find that works 100% of the time for me.
Good luck, and welcome to the forum,
Hunt

I know the setting is in there to render h264 out of AE, but it is very inefficient. After Effects renders a frame at a time and adds it to the end of a movie. h264 encoding looks at blocks of video an determines the areas that can be discarded. This helps the final product maintain a smaller file size. Rendering h.264 straight out of AE won't give you the smallest file size or the best results.
My recommendation is to either render out a high resolution movie and then encode it to h.264 using Adobe Media Encoder, Episode, or ffmpeg. If you are just looking to save a step, you might try rendering the the video using the h.264 settings in Adobe Media Encoder.

  • Low Memory when rendering a video file (Win 8.1; HP Envy 700-230qe)

Rendering a 4-minute video (with several video tracks) using Sony Vegas Pro13, keeps stopping around 70-80% of completion --- saying that there's low memory.
How could that happen on a HP Envy 700-230qe with 32GB DDR3 memory?
I look at the Task Manager:  the  "Commited" memory keeps increasing during the rendering until it hits the full number (36 GB in my case)  and then the memory is depleted, which stops the render.
(No changes to the system except addition of an SSD drive as main drive, and a Blu-ray burner)

  • Poor Rendering of video in 10.4.7

After upgrading to 10.4.7 the rendering of videos purchased from iTMS has deteriorated significantly. There is much more pixelation and the experience when the window is maximized is unacceptable. What used to be fuzzy is now blotchy. This is especially bad in cartoons content as the lines are all jagged. It affects iTunes playback and Quicktime equally.
Am I alone in noticing this degradation?

    Hello Don.
So which version of Mac OS X are you running now. What do you do to go back and forth to Mac OS 10.4.6 and Mac OS X 10.4.7?
What type of account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?
In Mail, open Window > Activity Viewer. What do you see there when Mail refuses to quit? Actually, you may be able to avoid having to force quit Mail by canceling whatever it's doing (by clicking on the red stop icon of the activity).
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items. What do you see there?
Do you have any third-party Mail plugins? Do you have either a /Library/Mail/Bundles or a ~/Library/Mail/Bundles folder in the Finder?
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.

  • When rendering IDVD just crashes.

    Hello All.
I have been trying to put a few iphoto slideshows and trailers on idvd.
I have tried sharing my iphoto slideshows to idvd and while rendering it just crashes.
I have tried several different times. I'm using the newest idvd in ilife 11.
I have also created two different idvd projects and it still fails.
It tells me nothing just crashes.
    Thanks
    Al

That should be enough for small projects.
What do you mean by 'crashes'? Does it appear to freeze? What?
Rather than burning to writable media, make tour 'burn' to a disk image file (an option under FILE in iDVD). This separates the encoding process from the burning process. Try this and let us know if it works.

  • Aperture Profiles videos crash Safari at same spot on video

Click on the following link - http://www.apple.com/aperture/ - and then select any of the photographer profiles at the bottom left. The first two play video for about 1 minute and then crash Safari at the exact same spot every time I play the video. For Heinz Kleutmeier, it crashes as he shows the loupe tool over an UCLA player's face, and for Joe Buissink, the video crashes right as he talks about no perfect picture, only perfect moment. The third video, Richard Burbridge, works fine.
I have deleted history, cleared Safari cache, cleared QuickTime cache, rebooted - nothing fixes this problem so I am guessing it's not on my system but the QT media itself is crapping out or Safari is not handling it correctly. I have submitted a couple of crash reports to Apple regarding the issue. I will try downloading Firefox and try the videos to see if I can rule out a Safari problem.
    Can anybody else confirm this?

    IBod,
I will create another account on my system and give it a shot. Before I got your response, I had in fact completely erased QuickTime off my system (all files, apps, plists, plugins) and reloaded. I am now able to view 2 of the 3 videos all the way through, but the first one (Heinz Kluetmeier) is still failing at the exact same spot. What's funny is that I use Firefox on a Windows XP laptop at work and it crashes at the exact same spot too. Only there, it also gives all kindsa nonsensical errors after it crashes. Anyway, I'll have to chalk this up to a quicktime vendetta against me I guess!
Thanks again for all your help, iBod!

  • Premiere Pro cs6 keeps crashing when im editing or rendering a video

When I am on Adobe Premiere Pro cs6 every 10-20 mins it crashes when im editing a video, it crashes more often when im rendering it (export media, ctrl+M). I dont mind when it crashes while im editing because i save the file regularly but when im rendering its a problem, it probably because the file is too big as i use dxtory to record skyrim but this is an expensive product so it should be able to render. I encode the file once ive chosen the format and stuff for the video and it says finish rendering in 50 mins or so and when it gets to like 4% rendering it says not responding. It then troubleshoots but then says 'close program'. this is very frustrating, please can someone help me. • Loading youtube videos crashes my browser - both mozilla firefox and safari. Now I can't get firefox to load any page, although safari still works. It started when I clicked on a youtube link on FB 2 weeks ago. Any ideas, anyone?

youtube is crashing my browser - both firefox mozilla and safari. Now I cannot load firefox browser at all, but safari still works - except for youtube, which immediately crashes it....any ideas, anyone?

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • Skype video crashes my GPU driver and causes blue screen.

    Hello,
Installed a new copy of windows and got the latest version of skype for my PC (on wich skype worked just fine, video calls, voice calls, but it was an older version. No hardware changes)
With the new skype, I , for the least, get driver crashes, and for the most, a blue screen, when I just go to options to set up my webcam. As soon as I see the square "loading" my webcam in the options, everything freezes and I get a driver crash or a blue screen.
    Current specs:
    i5 4440, stock clocks
    2x8gb 1333 ddr3 1.5v ram, stock
    R7 260x, stock
500w PSU, not the best quality, But I also tried a 1000w platinum PSU, and same resaults.
last error code I remeber from the blue screen was: 0x00000116
I know it is related to the GPU, but it doesn't have power deficiency, since I manage to run heavy games just fine.By the way, my webcam works just fine on different web sites, so it's not the webcam.
    What I tried:
-Degrading to the oldest supported version by skype
    -Degrading video drivers
    -Using different webcams
-Installed all windows 7 64 bit updates
    edit:
skype 6.14 works, but newer versions crash my GPU drivers and cause blue screen

I would suggest uninstalling Droidcam as it could be the source of some delays assisting in causing the problem.  TDR problems occur when your videocard is unable to respond in 2 seconds for a variety of reasons (heat, tweaks), forcefully resetting the card.  Some people increase this delay in their registry from 2 to up to 10 seconds to give the card time to catch up so that a reset doesn't occur.  You can try this MS fix it which increases this delay. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2665946
