Repetitive flash task

Dear List
I need to do the following:
- 600 images are in one folder on my desktop
- each image is labeled as "img0001.jpg", "img0002.jpg"...
- import those 600 individual jpgs into flash 8
- convert each item into a movieclip
- label each movieclip with its filenmae (without the
extension)
- put every movieclip onto the timeline in an individual
frame (for loading)
- name each movieclip linkage with its name
- disable export in first frame on each movieclip.
- export the whole thing as an .swf
you get the picture... It's one long boring task that i'm
sure can be done some other way. is jsfl my savior? I am not
familiar with jsfl at all but if I understand it correcctly it
should be able of aking care of those tasks mentioned, correct?
Are there other ways of achieving the above on the server
with let's say php or some other serverside language? That way I
could create an application that does all that on the click of
abutton? and the client just needs to put all 600 new images in the
correct folder... and there's the new swf file?
Any advice or guidance appreciated. also pointers to good
jsfl resources.
Thanks
Stephan

maybe I should add this:
I have tried to import the 600 jpgs individually in the
beginning of the movie. The jpgs are tiny (under 4 k each) 15x15
pixels... still flash was veeery unhappy. That's why I am looking
into alternatives.
curious how other people have solved this issue.
thanks
best

  • During a trip, whenever I shut off my Vixia HF S10 video, a message flashed "Task in progress.

"Task in progress.  Do not disconnect the power source"
After connecting to my iMac /Final Cut Express, I can only see 5 Gb of the 12 Gb movie file, but I can't access the file.  The other 7 Gb is nowhere to be found. However, the computer shows 12 Gb in the Canon.
Do I have any chance of recovering the remaining 7 Gb?

    Hello Butch13,
This message means that the camera is updating the memory.  If the camera was disconnected from the power source or the battery pack removed it can cause errors to occur.  Final Cut is not supported through Canon, and we can recommend that you contact them if you require support on that product.  With regards to "seeing" the remaining footage, we suggest trying to essentially copy and paste the footage from the camera to your hard disk.  If it's not there, or corrupted, the most likely cause was the message you received.  We don't support file recovery software and you may want to run a search online for an applicable program for this need.

  • Shortcuts or Scripts for repetitive tagging tasks

Are there any scripts that I can attach to an icon in a toolbar to click just once to make remediating tagging less arduous? I'm constantly selecting an item, clicking on the >Options menu then click on the >Find selection from tag. Would love to assign this to a keyboard shortcut or click one icon. Or what do you know that I don't? I'm exhausted, my hand hurts, and I have hundreds of pages to go. Should I hire a programmer to do this? ACRObuttons was a hope but they're dead. Thanks so much, Community.

You can automate a few document-wide things using an Action Wizard, for example set reading language, set tab order property, create bookmarks from structure, set open options, embed fonts using Preflight. I do not know of a way to automate tag remediation.

  • Extending Flash Javascript

After finding out about the capabilities of (java)scripting in Photoshop, I'm curious to know if there's similar functionality for Flash.
After some searching I found the 'Extending Flash'-documentation (please direct the currently inactive Flash Javascript-link on the Developers homepage to this page, it took me a while to find it), which seems to work fine but is rather shallow compared to the javascript possibilities in Photoshop.
    My questions:
    - Has there been any work on this since the CS4 scripting guide I found? Perhaps some functionality is complemented by Flex SDK, but I'm specifically looking for the functionality to automate the Flash Authoring Environment, for instance to have a swift way to replace texts, symbols or bits of ActionScripts in a SWF-file.
    - Is there a listener for Flash IDE like there is for Photoshop, i.e. a tool that converts your actions in Flash to JS-code?
    Cheers,
    Ruben

i don't believe there has been much, if any, work extending the original jsfl code.
to automate flash tasks, jsfl is the appropriate tool and there is no listener that will shortcut the coding for you.

Novice iMovie user here needing some help.   I'm using iMovie 10.
I've imported some video clips into iMovie, but when play them back, they now have like a repetitive flashing or jump about every 1/2 second.
Playback the same clip with QuickTime and no problem.
Any ideas on cause and what I can do to correct?

  • Error 1172, an error running a VI in the second time call of the DLL

    Hello All,
I am a beginner in labVIEW.
I have to write a test program in labVIEW which uses a DLL created by other programmer.
I called the DLL from my labVIEW to control DIOs, a serial port, communicate with a slave device, perfrom a flashing task.
While testing the program, I found that the program is OK if I use it just once, however, if I want to run it coninuously using a Do-While Loop, it failed with
    Error 1172.
As far as I could understand, it seems that the DLL creates a log file in C:\ while it was called for the first time, and the process does not stop taking control of this log file even after the DLL is closed.
Then when the DLL is called for the second time, it looks for the same log file to write new info but as it was taken control by the previous process, there comes an error.
    Please find the attached files.
Hope there would be somebody who is able to help me to point out my mistakes in my vi or suggest me a solution for it.
    Thanks and Best Regards
    Aung
(As the system does not accept the DLL attachment, I changed the extension to .pdf for the DLL File)

  • Macbook Air or MBP Which performs better

I'm considering the 13" MBP 2.9Ghz with 8GB 700GB HD vs the 13 in Air 2.0GHz (256GB).  Besides the boot time being faster on the Air vs. the MBP is there other benchmarks available to compare these two models?  I saw 15 retina and air benchmarks but nothing comparing what performs better the air or 13 mbp.  Thanks.

Most testing benchmarks don't adequately indicate the "real world" experience in regard to these two disparate setups. When the MBP is tasked to intensely execute a series of processor intensive tasks, such as video encoding or image manipulation, the MBP will "finish the race" much faster. The MBP has quad core, discrete graphics, and will be faster. It takes a measure of subjective "experience" testing to discern their real world differences, which will vary amongst users.
The SSD in the Air will make the unit "seem" much more peppy than a HDD equipped MBP. When loading multiple files into memory, the SSD really shines. It makes apps launch faster, the boot faster, and the saving of files faster. Since most users are not repetitively performing tasks that require the raw processing power of the Pro model, many will just find the Air plain faster for them.
Im sure arstechnica.com and anandtech.com will be doing straight-up comparisons really soon, as they have done on previous iterations of the Air and Pro. They both are very adept at discerning the usable differences beween both these lines.
Of course, if you equip your Pro with an SSD, it will beat the Air in every way, except portability.

  • Can I eliminate "Read more" on blog page?

I am using the blog page as a calender of events. All the entries are short, so there is no more to read! Is there a way to get rid of the "Read more" thing on the blog page???
    Thanks
    DanK

You can do this in two ways:
    1) Editing your blog summary page, and remove every *Read more...* . This requires on every publishing, search for HexMonkey, MRI helps with repetitive editing task.
    2) Removing *Read more...* from localizedStrings.js, this is one time change, but you have to dig inside iWeb.app. The following is for English language, other language will vary.
    a) switch to Finder hit Command+ Shift + G and copy+paste the following: /Applications/iWeb.app/Contents/Resources/Widgets/BlogSummary.iwdgt/en.lproj/
    b) duplicate localizedStrings.js file, in case you want to revert.
    c) open localizedStrings.js file and replace strings{'Read more...'} = 'Read more...'; with strings{'Read more...'} = '';
replace { with open square bracket and } with close square, this posting system screw up... it converts open square bracket into hyperlink

  • How do you make ruler display ticks every 12 inches instead of every 16 inches?

    Hi all,
How do you make ruler display ticks every 12 inches instead of every 16 inches?

I just wish that common features like layers, color, swatches, styles, masks, adjustments, character, paragraph and so on - looked and functioned the same across adobe applications. Is that too much to ask for?
In some cases, that would be absurd. Photoshop and Illustrator are fundamentally differerent environments, as they should be. Photoshop Layers and Illustrator/InDesign Layers are entirely different things, because a vector drawing program works with arranging OBJECTS (raster images, vector paths, text objects) in a Z stacking order and XY position. A Photoshop Layer is essentially just another raster image of the same pixel count as all the others, viewed optionally opaquely or transparently on your screen. It would be ridiculous if Photoshop created a whole new raster image every time you colored another selection of pixels. It would be ridiculous if Illustrator created a new Layer everytime you draw a new path.
Regarding text, Photoshop and Illustrator share the same lame text engine. Illustrator's should be like InDesign's, not like Photoshop's.
And that is a good case-in-point negating the silly defensiveness of Illustrator's outdated and buggy functionality. Illustrator's text handling remains poor today. But it was not updated even to today's treatment until CS 1. For most of its history, its text handling was pathetically primitive compared to that of other programs which were designed for exactly the same purpose and which competed directly with it. Should one "defend" that fact with some nonsensical argument that 'Illustrator is not meant to be a word processor'?
It was not until AI10 that its print dialog acquired a simple Fit To Page command. You had to manually figure and enter a scale factor, and that was limited on the low end to 25%. Can that logically be "defended" on the basis that 'AI is not an imagesetter'? Every dang software on the planet provides a Fit To Page print option!
This "It's not a technical illustration program" argument is every bit as nonsensical. Every one of Illustrator's direct competitors provides for user-defined drawing scales, and has for decades. Illustrator is just as "technical" a drawing program as those others are. It's just particularly lame at it in this regard. And since when is "technical" illustration not "illustration"? And since when is user-defined drawing scale only needed for "technical" illustration? Absolutely ridiculous.
So what if in its infancy Illustrator was a tool for PostScript workflow? Illustrator's leading competitor for most of its history, FreeHand, was initially based on the path drawing engine of a font design software. But when it went to market as a general illustration tool, it blew the functional and interface doors off Illustrator, and continued to do so throughout its history.
The simple fact is this: Throughout its history, Illustrator never kept up with the basic drawing features, interface refinements, and performance of its direct competitors. Its market share is primarily due to its carrying an Adobe label--and to the absurd defensiveness of too many of its users who have next to no experience with anything else.
Ilustrator, Indesign and Photoshop share about 90% of the same functionality.
    Where do you get that?
Photoshop's primary purpose is fine-tuning of raster imagery, especially photography. You don't do sophisticated color correction, channel operations, sharpening, etc., in Illustrator or InDesign. That's what I would call its "90% functionality."
InDesign's primary purose is automation of repetitive assembly tasks and text handling in high page-count documents. You don't do master pages, indexes, tables of contents, constant spooling the hard disk, hundreds of externally linked raster and vector files, chapters-long threaded text stories in Illustrator or Photoshop. That's what I would call its "90% functionality."
Illustrator's primary purpose is general-purpose vector drawing (which most certainly includes many kinds of 'technical' illustration) using cubic Bezier curves, and page-assembly for low page-count, illustration-intensive documents. That's what I would call its "90% functionality."
Now ask yourself: Should programs fundamentally structured for different primary purposes necessarily share the same interface? I say no, not necessarily. Example: The mere use of the same term (Layers) in Photoshop and Illustrator for what are fundamentally two different things has led to a gross misunderstanding on the part of Photoshop users who are Illustrator beginners, which is repeated here in this very forum almost every day.
Ask yourself this: Should unyielding adherance to the organizational dictates of Adobe's so-called "unified" interface be allowed to result in a palette flyout menu in InDesign that contains only one option? Is the very concept of a 'menu' not fundametally antithetical to a single choice? Is that not just poor interface design, regardless of whether it "matches" that of the other programs in the so-called "suite"? (Frankly, I find Adobe's over-use of flyout menus--which effectively HIDE important options--generally both ill-conceived and poorly executed.)
No, there simply is no excuse for Illusrator's still lacking user-defined drawing scales, just as there was no excuse for its lacking multiple pages for two full decades, just as there is no excuse for its still lacking reliable snaps, connector lines, live shape primitives (!), proper arc-drawing, proper corner rounding, inline graphics, auto-fitting textframes, the ability to join multiple paths at once, (note that NONE of those can be called specifically "technical" drawing features) and a plethora of other functions that are bare-bones basic to vector drawing. The programs is just archaic and outdated in all these regards, and that's all there is to it.

  • Alphabetizing help

    Hello yet again,
For my computer science class, we need to write a program that alphabetizes a list using a selection sort method.
Is there a way to quickly alphabetize the elements without creating a million if statements?

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

    CliffSniper wrote:

however, i'm asking for algorithm helpThat page describes the algorithm. I'm sure you can google for selection sort and find other examples and explanations. If you don't understand some part of it, ask a specific question.
right now, im thinking about assigning each letter of the alphabet a value and sorting the words based on their number value of the first char. Obviously, this is a very repetitive coding task and probably not the most efficient. Is there any specific algorithm for letter alpahbetization? If you're sorting words, you can use String's compareTo method to determine which word is "less than" the other.

  • Automating tasks in Flash CS4

I have a question regarding the possibility of automating repetitive tasks in Adoble Flash CS4.
My wife is pregnant and we are taking a picture of her every day so that at the end, we will have a flash movie of her belly growing throughout her pregnany. This is basically what I am doing:
    1) Take the picture
    2) The picture's native resolution is too big for flash CS4, so i resize the image in Photoshop (I can automate this and do these in large batches)
    3) I import the resized photos into flash
    4) I create the keyframes etc (3 frames per photo)
    5) The canvas is the exact size of the photo, so the photo fits perfectly (drag and drop)
    6) Save the file once im done with the batch
Basically, I was wondering if i can do in flash what i am doing in photoshop. Automate the app to select a folder, have Flash import the photo, create the keyframes and place each photo in the frame...repeat until all photos are done.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance,
    Don

if you name your photos suggestively (whatever1.jpg, whatever2.jpg etc) and if you import one, flash will detect that you might want to load the entire sequence and distribute one per keyframe and give you that option.
while flash can resize for you, if this is going to be a web-based app, you would still benefit from resizing before importing.

  • When I click on Firefox, it won't open... the icon flashes as if opening but no browser window opens. It also does not appear in the task manager

I click on the icon and it flashes as if opening.... no browser window appears.... I check the task manager to see if it is open but not displayed... nothing in the task manager..
So I uninstalled it leaving my preferences, and reinstalled it but it does the same thing. This time when I went to uninstall it again wiping the preferences away (in case it is those that is causing the problem) the uninstall program said that I had to close firefox first... but it isn't showing up as open in the task manager....
Final though... the last few weeks I have had a page pop up to advertise a need to update this or that, a need to click on this or that... obviously some kind of bug/virus.... help me get firefox going again...

  • Windows task bar no longer auto hides when I fullscreen a flash video.

Like the question reads, my task bar is no longer auto hiding when I full screen flash videos in firefox. Other than the obvious issue of it just being unsightly and annoying, It also causes a few other problems. One being that the computer no longer recognizes that a fullscreen video is playing so it goes to screen saver, and goes to sleep at its normally timed intervals.

  • Running without Adobe Flash Player Updater Scheduled Task

I'm trying to understand how to avoid installing Adobe Flash Player Updater Scheduled Task.
I am also unable to remove the Scheduled Task using a script that works on other tasks, on the same workstations.
Is there an mms.cfg setting that will instruct the installer to skip the Task?
    1) Uninstall the Scheduled Task from all workstations in my environment.
    2) Install future updates without the Scheduled Task.
I have already tried mm.cfg with these lines:
    AutoUpdateDisable=1
    SilentAutoUpdateEnable=0
It still runs the update process every hour.
I have explained that it hasn't been causing a problem, but running this many processes on so many computers for no reason is causing some concern.
My organization also does not allow big bang automation included with this product.
Has anyone managed to shut off the Updater process from running?
    Thank you

    Hi Ethan,
try creating an MST file, with Fx, Wise package studio...
Edit the CustomAction “NewCustomAction1” added the parameter “-au 2” to the Command line argument.
you should do that for both:
    install_flash_player_11_active_x.msi
    and
    install_flash_player_11_plugin.msi
If you are using both of them..
Or you can delete the scheduled task with schtask /delete "taskname"

Basically what the question says. I have a MacBook Pro mid-2009, and I'm wondering if I can replace the optical drive with an internal blu-ray drive.  I would want to be able to read and write to regular CD and DVD still though, that's a must. Also,
