Replace logical component in solar01

Hi,
We have an issue with Logical component maintained in "transaction" tab for business process under Project in solar01.
Logical components for ERP systems have been changed from SAP ECC to SAP ERP. All ERP systems are now maintained in SAP ERP and corresponding Logical component. But the business processes mainatained refer logical component SAP ECC.
We tried to replace and delete the logical components in solar_project_admin -> System Landscape but it does not allow to delete neither replace with new SAP ERP logical components.
Get message "Logical component SAP ECC is still being used"
Please help on solution.

actually we tried to add new SAP ERP logical component and updated in the project.
When we try to use Logical Component replace function we get below message :
"The logical components SAP ECC and Z_ERP have different products"
So the logical component in "transaction" tab still cannot be replaced.
Moreover in few business process it does not list Z_ERP logical component to manually replace same in Logical component dropdown.
we found one SAP note :
SAP Note 1429697 - SMSY: Converting product versions
this SAP note refers to a report SMSY_SWITCH_PRODUCT which can be used to switch logical componment SAP ECC to SAP ERP.
But SAP ECC is used in atleast 15 more projects so need to know impact of running this report.,

SOLAR02-replace logical component

Dear Friends,
I am working with Solution Manager 4.0, patch level SP12. In SOLAR01 i have finalised my business structure. Now in SOLAR02, i have assigned some logical component to link to satellite systems. i am having about 500 transactions in SOLAR02. Later point of time i realized that i have wrongly assigned the logical components to my 500 transactions. Now i want to replace my existing logical component with new one.
In Sol Man, i am having the option to mass replacement of logical component.
(Ths path is, Edit---Replace logical component)
Here, i am entering, Log. Component to be Replaced & Replace with logical component. If i do the consistency check, i am getting message that , " Log component SAPR3 can be replaced with ZSAPR3".
But if i save, i am getting following error.

Diagnosis
A lock requested by calling an ENQUEUE function module cannot be provided because the object in question has already been locked by its own transaction.

COLLISION_UNAME = ZS933SENTHIL
System Response
The ENQUEUE function module triggers an appropriate exception. If this exception was not intercepted by the application program, it leads automatically to the active SAP transaction being cancelled.
Procedure
Once the ENQUEUE function module is called, the application program should intercept this exception and react to it appropriately.

Hi Senthil,
you have selected a tab that can contain logical components and then started the replace functionality. Select a tab that does not contain logical components (e. g. the gen. Documentation tab).

Replace logical component in Solution_directory

Hi
We have imported a project to Solution that used the logical component "ERP".
The second proect was imported with its logical component "ERP2".
This has turned out to be a wrong approach, and we want to replace the ERP2 component with "ERP".
Does anyone know if this can be done without checking our productive solution out to the maintenance project and doing it here?
I have tried, in the Solution to say "replace logical component", but apparently I cannot replace it with a component that is already in the Solution.
Anyone???

Hi Anja,
if you have activated "Check-out/Check-in", it is not possible to replace the logical component in the solution, because it is only available in display mode. If it is possible for you to switch Check-out/Check-in" temporarily off, you can do the replacement via the menu "Edit --> Replace log. Comp...".

Replace Logical Component

I need to complete a mass change of logical componets on my implementation project. We initially were on ECC 5.0 with a logical componen on ECC. We have recently upgraded to ECC 6.0 and have a new logical componeont of ECC_EHP. In the Edit menu, there is an option to replace a logical component. I can execute the step where I indicate what logical component I want to find and what logical component I want to replace it with, however, when I run it I receive a message: "Logical Component Replc. Error". Has anyone successfully got this to work? Any help?

I opened a message with SAP, the steps in their response worked:
Start transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN and open the project where
you would like to replace the log. component.
Here change to the tab: 'System Landscape' and select the tab 'Systems'
Here now select the log. component you would like to replace and
press the button: 'Replace. log component' at the bottom. (the second
one from left)
In the following popup select the desired log component.
(if the one you are looking for is not visible, please press the
button 'All logical components' and search for the one you would like)
After you have selected the componet press the OK button.
At the end you will receive a message that states that the logical
component has been replaced.

Missing Logical Component in Solar01-Transaction Tab

We have setup several logical components and assigned it to our project template. We then executed transaction SOLAR01; navigate to the "Business Blueprint Structure", "Master Data" and then the "Transactions" tab; we could only select One Logical Component. The rest of them are NOT being display at all. Any idea why?
Interestingly, when we naviate to the Business Blueprint Structure" \ "Business Scenario" - All the logical components are available again. But go down another level from there' and we are back to one logical component again.

Hi,
logical components are assigned directly to master data objects, organizational units and process steps. Thus, these objects are part to the corresponding system. Therefore, it is only possible to assign content on tabs belonging to these objects that have the same product assigned. This is the reason why only one logical component is available on this level in your project. On scenario or process level, all logical components are available.

Error: The logical component X is still being used

Hi,
In Transaction SMSY, i want to delete a Logical Component. So, pre-condition is to check whether it is mapped to any Projects/Solutions. By right-clicking - Where used list , i have seen that it is mapped to a Project. So, in transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN under tab System Landscape, i tried to delete the Logical Component but receiving the error message - The logical component X is still being used.
Please help.

Hello Mohan,
You can also solve this by using the "Replace Logical Component" button in the system landscape within SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN.
Thus you can replace all the occurances of the Z_ logical component by e.g. an existing standard SAP logical component.
Afterwards you will be able to delete your Z_ logical component in SMSY (or in LMDB from 7.1 SP9 on).

Monitoring "check aborted jobs" not possible - Logical component issue?

Hy Experts,
we are facing a problem setting up system monitoring in our Solution Manger system.
We want to check if a specified job is finished sucessfully - if it is aborted we want to receive a mail.
In another system the monitoring as described is fully functional.
In this scenario we are facing a problem:
Error Text:
The logical components SAP NW REDWOOD CRONACLE and Z_SYS_MONI have different products
Message no. SOLAR170
Diagnosis
This component change can prevent the processes and scenarios which you have copied from the BPR into the "Structure" tab, in transaction SOLAR01, from running in the assigned system, or assigned transactions, IMG activities, etc. may not exist in these systems. For example, transactions or IMG assignments copied into the previous product context do not yet exist in the project.
If the same systems are assigned to the new and old logical components, the change is not critical.
System Response
The system sends a warning and accepts the change, but no data is automatically converted or adjusted.
Procedure
If you are unsure whether your assignments will still be in the component systems after the component change, perform the function "Environment - Refresh Buffer" in the transaction SOLAR01. Errors in this program are objects which do not exist in the system.
Actual product of the logical component "Z_SYS_MONI" is ECC5.0.
The other (working) is using the logical component "SAP NETWEAVER APPLICATION SERV" instead of the above used "SAP NW REDWOOD CRONACLE "
How can this error be fixed OR
How to monitor jobs with logical component ecc5.0?

Detailed Info:
The working solution is assigned to ECC 6.0 AND to SAP Netweaver 7.0 (2004s).
The selection in business process repository - it-platform - monitoring is assigned to SAP Netweaver 7.0. - but we have ECC5.0 - even if I create the system/logical component new under Netweaver 2004 (6.40) it won't work
It seems not to be possible.
But how to monitor a job in ECC5.0 - think it is possible.
Any ideas?

BPR - Selecting 46c/47 processes from BPR in ERP EHP logical component

Hello,
We have a project which will be used SAP ERP EnhP 5 for the project. So we have defined a logical component in SMSY with that product and version Z_ERP_EHP. Then we assigned it to the project in Solar Project Admin
When we are working in Solar01, and select a process (i.e. Accounts Payable) which says that it is valid for 4.6c on, however it is not associated to the Z_ERP_EHP logical component but tries to associate it to SAP R/3 logical component. It seems that SAP ERP EHP is not recognized as a successor of 4.6c. Then we have to reassign the process /process steps to the the Z.. logical component.
Am I missing something?

Thanks for your answer. To continue with you explanation, for the meantime, though I only use Central Application instance in the ERP EhP 4, I should be definying two logical components, one just for SAP ERP product and the other for the EhP, both pointing to the same landscape, so that I can correct select BPR processes.
Moreover, for each industry solution (IS OIL, Retail, etc.) I need to define different logical components.
I appreciate your input.

and i get error "Logical component SAP_ERP_EHP_ABAP_EHP4 is not used in project (the name of the project)"
i used in 2 different logical component in this project

I am receiving this message right now, while conducting prototype testing.
Message no. SOLAR_SPROJECT055 - Logical component Z_CHARM_PT is not used in project CHARM_PT01
I used this logical component in a previous solman project and it worked. Now I have closed that project and am trying to create a new one using the same logical component.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

XI 3.0 and BW 3.5 system type/logical component in Solution Manager

We are in the process of performing an upgrade for ERP 2004, XI 3.0 and BW 3.5. Initially this is being done in the sandpits. All systems are configured and connected our Solution Manager to download the packages.
We are unable to determine what type of system the XI 3.0 and BW 3.5 should be configured under. For example, previously we had an issue where ERP was configured as ECC 5.0 rather than ERP 2004. This was causing an issue in MOPZ where the upgrade option wasn't visible in a maintenance transaction. The same issue is now happening for XI and BW.
Please advise on the system type (logical component to use) for XI 3.0 and BW 3.5 in Solution Manager as SAP have made it very confusing. Currently both are under type Netweaver 04.

Logical component in SolMan using SMSY

Hi,
What is a logical component and why is it necessary. Why do we create that in our solman system for the landscape.
Also i was going through one tutor in rkt-solman link for creating logical component. It shows for a r/3 system. Is the same selection valid for the Netweaver component also.

First of all thanks for the reply.
One thing is while i create a new system with assistant, and select the product as netweaver and proceed it asks me to select the main instance. What is this main instance. Say for me the system i am adding is the one having J2ee engine and portal plus trex on it. It doesnot have the ABAP instance. So what should be my selection. Should it be only WebAS Java or java + portal + trex.
Secondly what i did was i selected java and EP and Trex and proceeded. It didn't give me the option of entering the System Number and Message Server. In the next screen the only option i had was to assign logical component. If i select the box then it asks for client but the box for client is disabled.
Don't know what to do. Also RFC anyway is required. In such a case what should be the case. How should i create those RFC's and what RFC's are required for the same.
Lot of questions. Hope to get the detailed reply.

Logical component in Solar02 transaction

Hi,
When i run solar02 transaction in solution manager.I get the project screen, but the logical components for the various processes is showing a wrong component. I need to manually change the logical component everytime.
Is there any way that the logical component column shows the right component automatically??

because my application demands me to use GridBagLayout.No it doesn't, that a choice you made. You are never forced to use a specific layout manager. In fact most layout problems are solved by using combinations of layout managers. You two main choices are:
a) use a GridbagLayout for the main panel and then a CardLayout for the two components you want to sway, although it may look strange if the components are a different size as the preferred size of the panel will be the size of the largest component
b) Simulate a card layout using:
panel.remove(...)
panel.add(...);
panel.revalidate(...)

How To create a maintenance project - logical component missing?

Hi experts,
we plan to activate ChaRM in our Landscape.
We don't have created a maintenance project in solution_manager cause there is a logical component missing.
I followed the instructions of the tutorial on https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700006932702005E.sim (Creation of a maintenance project).
I recognized there is the logical component "ZCHANGE REQUEST MANAGEMENT" missing.
This seems to be a modified origin SAP Component.
Does anyone know where to find these component?
Maybe with informations what has to be changed for the Z*copy or is this only a 1:1 copy?
Does anyone have a detailed document for configuring ChaRM on SolMan 7.0 (Mailadress is visible on my business card)

You need to set up your solution and therefor define a logical component in SMSY. For instance the logical component might consist of your ERP E, Q and P systems.
This logical component is added to an SMI Project. It basically tells the SMI project which systems are involved in the process. After that you will have to create an IMG project, CTS project, release the SMI project to the Change Request Management and generate Maintenance Cycle and Task List (this is all being done in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN).

Managing more than one logical component in SMSY Current System Assignments

I have a problem with managing logical components in TA SMSY in my Solution Manager System, in the section "System Groups and logical Components". I want to maintain more than one logical System e. g. from Type Application Server ABAP --> SAP NETWEAVER APPLICATION SERV.
That means e. g. i want to maintain 2 or more Demo Systems from different Servers or Instances of the same Product Version in the same logical Component .
What I want to know is, is there a way to display these logical components in tne "Current System Assignments" - View in that form

but i have to say, that this is not exactly what i've been lookin for.
What I need in my System Landscape is to have each demosystem as a logical Component from the same type (e.g. SAP NETWEAVER APPLICATION SERVER ABAP).
So that in Change Management in a Maintenance Optimizer Transaction i can choose between each demo system in my System Landscape (from the type SAP Netweaver Application Server ABAP) that i will maintain in Maintenance Optimizer, e.g. download a new SP Stack.
My Intention is to create new logical components from type SAP NETWEAVER APPLICATION SERVER ABAP in my Namespace e.g. ZSAPNW01, ZSAPNW02, ... and to maintain the types of systems (Demo, Development, Training etc ...) for each logical component.
Is this the only Possibility?
Or do i can also display my logical components the way i descriped beyond?
