Replaced logic board...iTunes now says "not authorized to play music"

I had the logic board replaced in my Mac Book Pro, restored my 4GB iPod Mini, downloaded iTunes 7.4, and now, when I try to sync with the iPod, I get a message that says that I am not authorized to play any of the music on this computer. I've authorized the computer via Store-->Authorize Computer and have only 2 of 5 computers authorized. I'm wondering if iTunes is seeing my MacBook Pro as a new copmputer because it has a new logic board. I did not lose any hard disk content, so I'm wondering what else the problem could be. Anyone have any ideas on how to approach this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ethan

Almost certainly. Check out the customer service article.

So r u telling me that I can only look at a movie from my iTunes account on the device that it was download from.  This doesn't set very well me.  U should b able to your purchase movies from your cloud.  Is apple working on this resolution?
There is no resolution needed, as this is not a problem.
I am saying not the device, but the Apple ID is what needs to be the same, unless the movie is rented.
If the movie is rented, it can only reside on one device at a time.  But from your error message above, I don't think that is your situation.
Your error message suggests a different Apple ID purchased the movie.  If you want to see it, you must use your computer's iTunes, go to Store > Authorize This Account in the iTunes menu on your computer, and have that purchaser sign in with their Apple ID and password, then sync your iPad to that computer.

  • New Mac Not Authorized To Play Music From iTunes Store

My new Mac is not authorized to play music purchased from the iTunes store. This was my error since I was a bit over exuberant and forgot to deauthorize my old computer before transferring the iTunes library using the setup assistant.
I do not plan to keep my old computer and will delete the music. In order to retain all my old settings (e.g. copies still available), am I now able to repeat the transfer process using the migration assistant?
I would like to simply deauthorize the old computer and then transfer the iTunes files a second time.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Rod

Just go to 'Store' in the menu bar in iTunes and select 'Authorize' to authorize your new Mac with your iTunes account.
If you have authorized 5 computers (the maximum), you can reset them all once a year from the account management section of iTunes Music Store. Access this by signing in and clicking the button labelled with your Apple ID in the top right of the iTunes Store window.
You can transfer your entire iTunes library (ratings, playlists, date added, last played, playcount etc.) by just copying the entire iTunes folder (containing iTunes Library, iTunes Music and iTunes Music Library.xml) from your old Music folder to your new one.
Make sure you back up all of your purchased music, it cannot be downloaded again!
Hope that is helpful in some way!
    Tom.

  • My iTunes is saying "not authorized"...

I just bought a new Macbook Pro and had them transfer all of my data, including my music. When I went to sync my ipod and my iphone, it popped up saying "not authorized". I then proceeded to enter my username and password, which it then said it was "authorized". However, when I went to try and sync it again, the "not authorized" box reappeared. I tried entering my info again, thinkning it may have not gone through, but it said it was already authorized. So then I tried updating the itunes, but the same problem keeps popping up. Any ideas??

Have you tried deauthorizing and then authorizing the computer?

  • Purchased Music won't go to my nano- says not authorized to play

For the last 3 months - with different versions of itunes - this same error msg, "Some of the items in the itunes Library including "Song X", were not copied to the ipod "my unit name" because you are not authorized to play them on this computer. The real zinger here is that music I purchased prior to the error that used to download to the same nano and worked, is now wiped off my nano. I see the songs, but the only ones that will sync are the ones I did not purchase from itunes. Any one else with same issue or know how to fix? Thanks.

Choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes or play one of those songs; whem prompted, provide your iTunes Store account details.

I have reset my apple tv both soft and back to factory settings
I have installed version 10.4.1 of itunes on my computer
I can play all the content on my ipad, iphone and computer just not on the apple tv!

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

  • Not authorized to play music?

For about a year now, I've had trouble playing music. I got a new computer last year and I think this is when the problem started, but I'm pretty sure it's on Apple's side, not mine.
I'll try to play a certain song, and iTunes tells me I can't play that song because my computer isn't authorized to play music from MY account.
My computer is authorized to play the music on my account, I've even tried deauthorizing and then re-authorizing but it doesn't help. Downloading the songs again *might* work but I have over 1200 songs, and probably about 25% of them don't work anymore. Some I've even bought fairly recently, others I've had on my account for years. The only songs I don't have a problem with are those that were added from a CD.
I can't even charge my iPod through my computer, because every time I hook it up, it disables the songs on  my iPod also...
iTunes is updated fully, excluding the latest update (get tired of downloading updates every other week, so I haven't updated yet).
I have 3 out of 5 computers authorized.
On an Asus laptop, Windows 7.
If any other information is needed, please let me know.
    Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? Please? ;-;
An unrelated question, how can I deauthorize the other 2 computers? I no longer have either. One burnt in a house fire and the other got run over by a truck (...yeah). I've looked for answers to this before but can't find anything other than  "You need to deauthorize from the computer" which obviously isn't an option here.

I just got a laptop that uses windows vista none of my previously purchased itune songs are showing up in my library. When I follow your instructions, it still does not work. I get the same error message about authorizing my computer again. I am not a computer person - please help!!! a

  • Apple TV Not Authorized to Play Music

This one is driving me crazy. My computer is authorized to play music from 2 iTunes accounts. The Apple TV is on the network and I share the library so that I can stream music from the computer to the Apple TV. But it still won't play Protected ACC files. None of them. I have de-authorized and authorized all accounts. Not having any success.
    Any ideas???

Ditto, and my understanding is that a synced Apple TV (which mine is) doesn't count towards the 5 authorized machines, it stands in as the computer with which it is synced. But I cannot play any protected AAC podcasts or audiobooks.

  • Not authorized to play music that I bought??

I had used my laptop for my itunes music for a while, but then I got a desktop. I wanted to get my itunes library on my desktop so I authorized my account for that computer(You can authorize 5 per account), so I plugged my ipod in. It said for most of my songs that I was not authorized(which I was) to play them.

    I really need some help.

I'm having the same problem! I recently bought a new computer and want to transfer all of my purchased songs/movies to my new computer/itunes. I authorized my iphone and attempted to transfer all of my purchased music/movies. I was able to transfer all but 44 items.
This is the message that I see: "Some of the purchased items on the iphone, including....could not be transferred to your itunes library because you are not authorized to play them on this computer."
So I tried to re-authorize, closed itunes, opened itunes and tried to transfer and got the same message. I also tried de-authorize and authorize again, but I got the same results.
    HELP?!

  • HT1349 I have shared my itunes music between 2 computers, however some of the songs say "not authorized to play on this computer", however I have repeatedly gone through the steps to authorize, and indeed it comes back that I have authorized this computer

How do i get the few songs in my library to be "authorized to play" when all the other ones are.  I have tried doing them individually, NOT WORKING This is on my home laptop.  All of the songs play on one computer but some not on the other.

Find the songs that don't work -- one at a time.  Right-click on the song in iTunes and do a "Get Info"  On the summary tab, look at the account name field.  That's critical -- is that account authorized on your computer?
    That's the issue.

  • Still not authorized to play music

I just purchased a new laptop that uses Vista. I downloaded latest version of itunes and updated ipod. I installed windows update per itunes web site. I now do not have access to any of my previously purchased itunes songs. None are showing up in my library. I tried to move music from my ipod (some of which was previously purchased in itunes) and a box keeps popping up asking me to authorize my computer after i have already done this several times. I selected Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes and provided my username and password like it asked me to and it is still not working. How do i access my previously purchased songs and why does it keep asking me to authorize my computer. What am i doing incorrectly?? I am not a computer person at all - please help!!!

If a small number of songs are affected, delete and redownload them if doing so is free in your country.
If none of the protected content will play, click here and follow the instructions.
