Replacement DVDs?

I recently received a DVD box of Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 as a gift, but misplaced the DVD. I still have the DVD case, and the white serial sticker label with the original serial on it.
I tried to download a trial copy (and use the serial), but I encountered this problem: (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewCont
ent.do?e xternalId=kb408965)
Is there a way to get replacement DVD's or a special download that allows my DVD code?
Thanks in advanced.

You can't enter a boxed serial number into a download version. You need to contact adobe (the contact links are the very top of this page) to see what they are willing to do for you.

Your profile says you have 10.6, so why bother with the original 10.5 OS?
But to your question, before you erase anything, make a backup of your data for safe keeping and restoration. Having an external hard drive for this purpose is most useful.

  • Touchsmart IQ542 - Replacement DVD drive

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement DVD drive for my Touchsmart IQ542? The current drive has decided that it really likes the DVD that is currently in it and won't spit it out, I suspect that this problem will only get worse so now is probably a good time to replace the drive.
Ideally I would like to put a Blu-ray drive in but if that's not possible a replacement for what is already in there would be fine.

  • Is it available to replace DVD driver in MacBook Pro with SSD 512GB Crucial m4 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb?

I'v external DVD driver and I'd like to replace DVD driver with in MacBook Pro with SSD 512GB Crucial m4 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb.  Is it available? All your opinions are welcome.

Here is a post from another thread on this problem.
So here's the deal, don't expect SATA III devices to work on the optical port.  I just went thru this on both my 2009 and 2012 13" MBP's.   The 2009 is SATA II (3Gps) and the 2012 is SATA III (6Gps).   A SATA III SSD (OWC 6G) will only connect at 1.5 Gps on the 2009.  On the 2012, it actually connects at 6 Gps, but every drive I tried crashed (dropped drives, file errors, kernel panics), including a Samsung 830 and  Seagate Momentus XT 750.  Out of desperation, I stuck the (slow 500 Gb) Apple HD in, it connects at 3 Gps and works like a champ.   Check your System Info on SATA info.   If you have a 2009, don't waste your $$$ on high end SSDs or drives.  If you have newer, BEWARE, you're likely to have issues with high end SATA III devices.    On the bright side both Samsung and OCZ V4 work great on the main drive (450 MB/s read) and boots in 10 seconds!!      The optical drive SATA port is a major issue for everyone ( like me ) who buys MBPs because they can trip them out, this is a real nagging issue/obstacle.   This is a firmware issue that needs to be addressed by Apple. I'm hoping for a firmware update and that Apple isn't doing this intentionally.

  • Using TDM to put OS back...but using a replacement DVD

    Hey there.
So, my PBG4 is wiped clean: at startup it's got the folder/questionmark/os icons. It's also got a wonky combo drive, that can't read anything. I lost the original install disks years ago, but last time I had to fix stuff, I was still under applecare: I got replacement DVDs, 2 of 'em, not for resale.
I've got a newer MacBookPro on which I'm typing this. I had the bright idea to start up the old PB in TDM, use the DVD player on this one to install the OS X back onto the old PB. Except it won't let me: when I double click the install on the disks it tells me I can't install this OS on this computer.
I'm guessing this is because of the nature of the replacement DVDs. Can you think of any other way around this problem?

Insert the replacement Installer Disk 1 into the MacBook Pro's optical drive with that machine running, then shut it down. Start it up again while holding down the T key to put the MBP into Target Disk Mode. Connect a FireWire cable to it. With the Powerbook shut down, connect the other end of the FireWire cable to it. Start up the Powerbook while holding down the Option key, and wait for the Startup Manager to locate the DVD in the MBP and offer it as a startup volume. Select it and start the Powerbook up from it. Then proceed with the installation.
The key here is that the MBP, not the Powerbook, must be in Target mode, so the Powerbook can use the MBP's optical drive to start up from. Once you accomplish that, the installation should go normally — assuming, of course, that you received the proper replacement discs for the Powerbook.

  • Can I replace DVD with SSD drive on Satellite P?

    Hi everyone !
I would like to know if I can replace DVD by caddy's SSD ?
If I do it about that, Do I loose my warranty ?
    Thanks.

I dont know what notebook model you have but in most cases such replacement (ODD ? SSD) would work in case the notebook would support the slim-select bay.
This was the case in older Tecra and Portege notebooks
I guess Satellite notebooks dont support such upgrade but this is just an assumption..
    Warranty?
Well, if you would disasemble the notebook, the warranty will be canceled

  • What software does apple have to replace DVD Studio Pro

what software does apple have to replace DVD Studio Pro. have a new imac 27" late 2012 and after data transfer DVD Studio Pro does not work. What can I do? Would it be advisable to go back on the OS to a older vision OS Where DVD Studio Pro was working? Help!!!

Afraid they don't have anything to replace DVD SP. Your alternatives are Adobe Encore (which is EOL) or Toast, or IDVD (which can still be found in boxed sets of iLife).
But getting back to DVD SP and your data transfer, what do you mean by that? What exactly did you do and what happened with the application? I'm running it on 10.7 and it works, but it's from the FCS3 suite; is yours FCS2?.

  • IMac i7 not booting from Replacement DVD

After having displaced the installation DVDs for my Quad-Core iMac i7 I needed to order a replacement kit from Apple when I all of a sudden found myself wanting to reinstall SL.
After a couple of days I received "Mac OS X Snow Leopard Install DVD - Replacement DVD 2Z691-6558-A" in the mail.
Problem is, when trying to boot from this DVD the computer halts at the Apple logo. No spinning wheel, it just sits there showing the logo ad infinitum (leaving it overnight - no progress).
The install DVD works fine in my Macbook, and I can boot a Windows 7 install DVD in my iMac.
Wouldn't this indicate that the Replacement DVD I have received is not suitable for my specific iMac model?
    Message was edited by: vibber

Brilliant. Turned out (as I suspected, but was assured not to be the case) that Apple support had sent (and charged me $30 for) the wrong Replacement DVD.
My model needs 2Z691-6590, -6591 or -6608, not 2Z691-6558-A, according to the repair guys. Guess it's too much to ask that the iMac could display a proper error message stating this fact, yesno?
To add insult to injury I will of course be charged a further $100 for the diagnostics (I have no time and energy to even attempt arguing myself out of that one).
What I probably should do is put my iMac up for sale, and use the funds to get a Wintel box. At my age I need to feel at least a little bit in control of my computer.

  • Studio Replacement DVD - wrong type

I've finally got round to installing FCS onto my new(ish) Macbook Pro. (I've been doing other things since I bought it).
But oh dear - when I try to install from my Replacement DVD (which I bought some time ago when I realised I'd lost the original, but had not yet needed to use) I find this is for a PowerPC, not an Intel.
I can't find the documnetation relating to the purchase of the DVD, and I don't know where I got it from or when.
Could this be it? "FCS UNIVERSAL CROSSGRADE FULFIL-ZML"
Is so what do I do?
If not what do I do?
    Thanks
    Tom

Well, I can find my old FCP 1, 2 and 3 discs, and this Relpacement one - which I'm sure I ordered to replace my FCS 5 install disc.
I was and am still running 5.1.4 on my old macbook pro.
I thought Crossgrade meant that too - but it doesn't give a version on the outside or inside of the disc.
Inside, in the read me, it only refers to Power PCs, and FCS 4 (which I never owned, having jumped from 3 to 5)
    I quote:
    Minimum Hardware Requirements
    • A Macintosh computer with a PowerPC G4 (867 megahertz [MHz] or faster) or PowerPC G5 processor
        • HD features require 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster single processor or dual processors (authoring HD DVDs requires a PowerPC G5 processor)
    • 512 megabytes (MB) of random-access memory (RAM)
        • HD features require 1 gigabyte (GB) of RAM or more (2 GB recommended)
    • Display with at least 1024 x 768 resolution
    • AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) Quartz Extreme graphics card
        • Motion requires the standard graphics card found in any Power Mac G5, any iMac G5, a 1.25 GHz or faster PowerBook G4, or a 1.25 GHz or faster flat-panel iMac. Any one of the following graphics cards is highly recommended:
            • NVIDIA GeForce FX 6800 Ultra DDL or 6800 GT DDL (NV40)
            • ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 (RV M11), ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (R350), or 9800 XT (R360)
    • DVD drive
    • Replication of DVD Studio Pro 4-authored DVDs requires a DLT drive
Note the ref to FCS there.
I've just come off the phone with Apple support. He thought they'd sent the wrong disc too.
Of course, there's no guarentee that  5.1.4 would work on 10.6.6 anyway - though people on this forum have told me it does.
I was just wanting to install to experiment. I don't have any editing work at the moment but some could come in any time. When it does I'll probably buy an upgrade to the spanking new whatever it's going to be.
    Cheers
    Tom

  • Replacement DVD drive for a Portege A100

    Hi
My Portege's DVD drive is making horrible clicking noises and appears to be on its way out. I have read from a thread on here that universal drives might not work as the Portege's BIOS has assigned the DVD drive as slave and that the new drive must be slave in order to work. Is this correct? I really do not want to be doing the soldering fix!
I have another laptop which has a TSST drive in and i plugged this in and the portgege showed an ide error. Is it just a matter of having the correct firmware or is the issue regarding the ide settings mentioned above.
I have shortlisted a Toshiba dvd drive PA3162E-2CD2 but it says it is compatitble with the Portege 4000, 4010, M100 and Tecra 9000, but does not list the A100 as compatible. Does anyone know if this drive will work on my machine?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi again
You are right. I have checked users manuals and there is nothing about compatible ODDs (optical disc drive). I recommend you to replace it wit the same model. Portege A100 is not known to me (I believe it is designed for UK market only) but ODD replacement is pretty simply. I believe ODD is fixed and it is mostly done with one screw that you can find on bottom side. After removing the screw you can take ODD out of notebook.
New drive must be placed into same place, fixed with screw and the job is done. If nobody offer any help here you can see if you will be able to remove ODD alone.
    Bye and good luck!

  • Replace DVD Drive

I have an HP 7320 slimline desktop, running XP 32 bit. I'm upgrading to 2 gig memory, and need to replace the DVD drive. It is IDE; however, the hard drive is SATA. On the motherboard, it looks like there is a second, open connector for another sata device. My question is it available for a new DVD drive? I do not like the cable for the IDE drive. The problem with the current drive is when I push the button to open the drive it "kerchunks" a couple of times, but the drive does not open. I tried using a straight paperclip & punched into the small hole on the front of the drive, I can feel it engaging in some sort of a button inside, but the drive does not open. Can I replave with a SATA drive????

    Hi:
Yes, you should be able to, if you have a SATA power connector near the DVD drive you plan to replace with a sata one.
You will also need a SATA data cable, of course.
I did that on an old HP d530 CMT.  I didn't have a SATA power connector near the optical drive, so I had to get a Molex to SATA power adapter.
    Below is what I got.
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details-print.asp?EdpNo=3151189&Sku=ULT4010...
Mine had an IDE HDD and IDE DVD.
So after replacing both with SATA and those thin data cables, it really opened up the real estate in the case for better airflow.
