Report Generated from Discoverer Migrated BA into OBIEE

We have started to populate some of our OBI content with reports that were based on Discoverer Business Areas. But, when the reports are run from a Link, they do not include the options to Print to PDF or Download, similar to what is available for dashboard content. Is there a way to add this capability to Linked content?

Discoverer report - Output from Discoverer plus is not the same as Discoverer desktop

As a part of Upgrade project we are migrating the discoverer reports from 11i (11.5.10.2) to R12 (12.1.3) .After migrating to R12, for a custom discoverer report the output given by discoverer desktop is correct (24 rows for a scenario). But the report output from Discoverer plus does not show the credit transactions (2 rows). The output from Discoverer plus shows only 22 rows (24 - 2), which is incorrect. The query is the same in Discoverer desktop and Discoverer plus.
Please let me know why these transactions that are appearing when the report is run from discoverer desktop are not appearing in discoverer plus. Is there any setup in discoverer plus for this?

Pretty hard to answer a question like this. Best bet would be to copy the existing discoverer plus book and start removing conditions, fields, etc until those two rows from desktop show up and see if you can work it out.

Web printing from a report generated from a bookmark

Hi,
I implemented the How to web printing last year. Eveything worked fine until someone tried to print a report generated from a bookmark. It opens the window where it shows the formatted report to be printed, but does not do anything else. The window remains blank. Anybody having an idea? I am sure it is related with the bookmark stuff, but can not get the finger on it.

Has the template that the bookmark is off of been changed? That might be causing the problem.

YTD report generated from excel data yielding incorrect results

I am trying to generate a YTD report from the data present in an excel sheet. However the result is coming out to be incorrect for YTD sales
The data sheet looks like this.(SaleDate is in *3/14/2009 format).

My logical layer consists of the following 3 tables
Manufacturer Dim table with only 1 column 'manufacturer'
Date dim table with only 1 column 'date'. Additional derived columns in this logical table created for YTD calculations are as follows:
CALENDER_YEAR_NAME---- EXTRACT( YEAR FROM testdata.TimeDim."date")
QUARTER_OF_YEAR------- EXTRACT( QUARTER_OF_YEAR FROM testdata.TimeDim."date")
MONTH_OF_YEAR----------- EXTRACT( MONTH FROM testdata.TimeDim."date")
CALENDER_QUARTER_DESC------ CONCAT( CAST (testdata.TimeDim.CALENDER_YEAR_NAME AS CHARACTER ( 30 )), CAST (testdata.TimeDim."QUARTER_OF_YEAR" AS CHARACTER ( 30 ))) ////appending year name to month name for uniqueness

After that time dimension was created with the following levels.

timedimdetail-Chronological key has been specified at all levels of the time dimension created for YTD calculation.The key at the lowest detail level was specified as 'date' column. At the upper levels it was CALENDER_MONTH_DESC,CALENDER_QUARTER_DESC,CALENDER_YEAR_NAME etc
Fact table with 1 column '# cars sold'.The fact table is joined with both the dim tables by complex logical join. Sno has been ommitted and not used in any of the logical tables. Sale YTD column was created in fact table using todate function(year).
The result am obtaining if i run the report today is:
CALENDER_YEAR_NAME QUARTER_OF_YEAR MONTH_OF_YEAR # of CarsSold SaleYTD
2,010 1 1 51 51
2,010 1 2 23 46
As you can see YTD for month 2 is coming incorrect it should be 51+23. This is jst test records and the same difference exists even if i run against my actual excel sheet
I would like to know:
1. Is it right to run YTD report against excel sheet as I checked for the query beign generated by answers, and its firing a lot of functions like Quarter name and monthname etc which i am not sure are supported by excel for answers.
2. If i am going fundamentally wrong somewhere in this entire approach as i am new to obiee and chances are i might be missing something important.

I have another solution and that is to actual discard the result before you get to the report stage.
You can do this by use of the Override Callback SequenceFilePostResultList and if Skipped then discard the result from ResultList.

How to discard skipped test results in XML report generated from TestStand

Hello,
I'm generating XML report from TestStand. I have more than 100 test cases & user has the flexibility to select the test cases to execute or to skip.
Problem statement:
1. In Configure\report options there is filter expression to filter test results to be logged. However, this filter is disabled for XML report.
2. Is there a way to compress XML file using either encryption or any other methods?
I understand that there would be two methods ideally for my problem statement #1 above:
A. To have a workaround in reportgen_xml.seq to pragmatically log only executed test cases and discard skipped test results.
B. Modify stylesheet supplied by NI to discard skipped test results.
For problem statement #2 above:
I am able to encrypt the data before logging it to XML. But I don't know how to modify the stylesheet to decrypt the same using either public/ private encryption keys. Can anyone bring in more ideas here !!!
My preference would be to implement using #A above to reduce the XML file size which is ~4 MB will all test results (skipped + executed). If this is not possible my last option would be to implement using #B above

Reports Generated From The Invoice Number

Hello All,
Firstly, thank you for this website, and also those who make contributions by asking questions and also answering.
So my question is, can SAP be generate a report from an invoice number which will then show which voucher for reimbursement includes that invoice number? And if so, how?
At this moment, the only way I can know this happens is by running a report for the specific reimbursement voucher which in turn will show me the invoices that is being paid for. However, I would like to input the invoice number which will show me which voucher the bill was paid for and which check number paid it.
I look forward to your replies, and thank you.

I should add, I do not mean a journal voucher, I'm talking about a public voucher for reimbursement from the government.

Report generated from Report Server to Web Brower can't print

We are doing a web-based project using Form & Report 6i.
Reports are called from forms with a parameter PAGESTREAM = YES
It works and reports in web brower(IE 5.5 SP2) are with two frames, with bottom the default Oracle Page Navigation Menu, and top the corresponding page.
However, when we try to print the page out, error occurs...
An error dialog box shown:
A Runtime Error has occurred.
Do you wish to debug?
Line : 1188
Error : Invalid procedure call or argument.
We can't print even one page....
Please, anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

Table which contains name of the report generated from table

Hello everyone,
Is there any table which stores the report names that are created from table.
For example if my table name is 'ABC' a new report will be created for table at run time '/1BCDWB/DB/ABC'.
I also need to have table names, which stored the values when a layout is changed
For example if I have ten fields in my table, first time ill choose 5 fields, second time ill change the layout and choose 10 fields and ill save the layout.
If any Function modules are there please let me know

One of my client is having some discoverer reports and he wants to migrate it from Discoverer to OBIEE. Can any one give me some info that how to migrate those into OBIEE.

How to retrieve data from xml file into obiee reports

Hi all,
I've got a situation here. A xml file is stored as blob in oracle database table. Now i need to retrieve data/info from that xml file into obiee reports. How am i supposed to proceed with this ?

In two words, you can create a function that behave as a table. Then you create a function to pick up your xml, you parse it and you send back the rows.
I know that Oracle has also a library for XML files but I never use it until now.

There is o extractor to load assessment cycles; instead you can load dtaa after the assesment cycle is complte in R/3. You can schdeule the job in BW accordingly.
May I know what exactly is the requirement.

More than one programs using report generator at the same time

I want to ask that how can I use Report Generator in two program at the same time.
As I am using Report Generator to log my data into excel, I find that if there are two
programs contain Report Generator, the program which ran first cannot find its
report.What can I do apart from alway open a new report?

Could you elaborate on what you mean when you say that the program which ran first cannot find its report? Are you trying to modify the same report simultaneously with these different apps?

SOS !!! Export from Discoverer to Excel problem

Hi everyone,
My reports, exported from Discoverer to Excel look quite different from what Discoverer format is. The date in Excel is shifted, column names are missing and report is broken into several tabs.
Any idea why it is happening?

When the users I support export to Excel they like to use the Export To Excel button in the menu. After they do that, they get a window asking if they want to enable or disable macros. I have them click Enable macros to get the same format as they see in Discoverer Plus.
If you get several tabs instead of one tab(and only one exists), I usually need to resave the workbook becuase it got corrupted (in my case anyway). If you want more control over how the workbook gets exported you can go to File--> Export... and they have some options on how the workbook gets exported.

We are using the function Evaluate because the SUM function doesn't allow to use OVER PARTITION BY. The problem we are having is that it when we use the measure we get an error that says that window fuctions are not allowed. By taking out the ORDER BY it works, however it doesnt do what we want it to do. It doesn't work either if we add the order criteria when creating the report, we get the same error.
Is there any way to make it work?

I believe you have the desktop client version. Plus and Viewer are Discoverer versions that are typically loaded on a server so that multiple clients can access them over the web. Discoverer Plus and Viewer are components of the Oracle Application Server.

I have to migrate Crystal Reports into OBIEE without using any third party tool.
How could it be done..any one can help me please...???

Just follow the instructions bellow:-
Reports generated automatically in the 7.5 Excel client that use the EVDRE function with a standard use of built-in parameters can be converted using the EPM add-in to a native 10.0 report.
EVDRE migration has been developed in order to migrate as many features and use cases as possible, but reports that have been heavily customized may not be totally converted automatically and may require some manual modifications. Nevertheless, the objective of the migration is to provide usable reports at the end of the migration. The exact conditions include:
o Multiple EVDRE reports in a complex arrangement or sharing some KeyRanges
o Formulas to calculate parameters
o Use of cell reference indirections to determine EVDRE parameters.
o Use of VBA to call the internal object model of the 7.5 Excel client.
o EVDRE inserted in another EVDRE.
