Report Query - XML data source empty
Hello!
I built a report query, using the wizard, under Shared Components and when I test the query using bind variables I get the correct data, but as I click Apply Changes and get to the screen where it gives me the option to Download the data source for the report layout, the file is empty. I've repeated the steps multiple times, each time getting correct data when testing the query, yet nothing in my xml file.
Any ideas on why this is happening?

I actually am having problems on the "Report Queries" section under "Shared Components"...my query doesn't return any data when I try to download/open the xml file. Once I'm able to get this fixed, I'll be able to open my report on the page that has the branch.

How to create a report using XML data source from Crystal Report Designer
Hi,
Iu2019m having Crystal Report Designer XI R2 SP4. Iu2019m trying to create a report using XML data source stored on disk. This is a customer order report and the xml is structured in such a way that it has an order details header part (master) and then it has several order lines (detail). One order line can have several order line characteristics (detail-detail). So what I need to know is now I can design this layout from the designer. If this was done using views I can do it with sub-reports but using xml data this seems to be different. Can you help me to design this layout? I have included the xml and xsd as well.

1. New Report
2. From Create New Connection-> XML
3. Provide the u201CLocal XML Fileu201D and have u201CSpecify Schema Fileu201D checked -> Next
4. Provide the u201CLocal Schema Fileu201D -> Finish
Then I can see the following under XML

Reporting Services: XML Data Source and Parameters
I’ve created an XML service (asmx) in ASP.Net that I want to use as a data source for an SQL Reporting Services report. The report and service work just fine if I use a Method from the service that does not have parameters. However, if I use a Method that
needs a parameter, the query/report fails. My investigation makes it seem that the parameter is not getting passed to the Method at all. (The parameter is a DateTime and it always ends up uninitialized and the WebMethod throws an exception.)
I’ve exhausted all my TechNet resources and Googled this excessively. It would seem that I am doing this correctly, based on all the examples I’ve seen, but I still can’t get it to work.
I've done a lot of different permutations, but this is where I’m at right now.
(Note: I've changed the Web Method's parameter to be a String instead of a DateTime. I did this as part of my trial-and-error process. Once I get this figured I'll return it to a DateTime.)
I'm trying to include everything here that will help you help me (see attached image). I had to obfuscate a few things (not sure if that is necessary).

This is where I needed the most help, and I don't totally understand it. But again, the parameter-less Method worked. I've tried adding different things in the <DefaultValue> tag (like @cuttoffDate and constant values), with no success.

We can use Fiddler2 to monitor the HTTP post, and check whether the parameter is being sent. The Fiddler tool can helps us debug web applications by capturing network traffic between the Internet and test computers. If the parameter is being sent, please
debug the web service to ensure the method has values return.

Anyone developed XML publisher without xml source.I wanted to know is there any way to develop that..
Presently we need a .xml file to develop any report on XML Publisher.But if there will be a way where is no .xml file and we need to generate tags for the data from scratch

kpSo why develop a report if there is no data? I can only think that you have a bunch of static text, maybe an instruction page you want to publish? If so, you still need a data source, it can be a dummy source

1) Open the Crystal report with XML datasource connectivity in the Crystal Report designer.
2) Click on File ->Report Options.
3) Uncheck the Verify On First Refresh box.
4) Save the Crystal report.
5) Open this Crystal report in Crystal Report for Eclipse designer and try Executing it again.

I have a problem in getting a report run on my machine..
I have a report that uses XML-dataSource to read info stored in xml file, I use XPath query to traverse xml nodes,
I have JBoss Server installed but the problem is that I want to know how to configure JBoss and tell it where to look for the xml file so the report can produce right information.
I use Windows XP and JBoss 4.23 and I finished the report using i-report 2.0.2

How to Write Log Message in a XML Data Source Report

Can anyone help me out what is the process of writing a log file in the XML Data Source Report. for eg: in Plsql we use FND_LOG.PUT_LINE to print the Log message in the Concurrent Request Output. in the similar manner, when we develop a report using XML, where we write Coding in XQuery of XML, what is the process need to follow to print the logs for the XQuery.
Any inputs/Suggestion on this Highly appreciable.
Thanks in advance.Create an RMI application (for example) that writes the log, and let all logging calls call that remote application.
Something like that is the only feasible way that doesn't require you to have a drive on the remote machine mapped to the local one (which causes its own problems as you could have multiple simultaneous write attempts...). -
Create Report with CR4E and XML Data Source
Hi all,
I have a problem when create a report with CR4E that should use a XML data source. It is not possible to choose fields from the field explorer, because ther are no fields from the XML-file. Is there a general problem when using an ODA data source in CR4E? At the moment I can only create reports with a database as data source.
Please help me with a tip.

I setup XML data source using the example "b-c.xml" and "b-c.xsd"; I changed the
root element of "b-c.xml" from "<db>" to "<Customers>"; but Liquid Data does not
seem to care or validate the instance document against the XSD.
Is this a known bug? It's something very basic and obvious!LD does indeed catch and report the mis-match at run-time as shown in the exception

But beware - in some (most) cases LD does not do validation against the schema
for performance reasons. If the schema does not match you will simply get empty
results.

I've been having trouble finding information on this, but is there a limitation on the file size of the xml data produced by an apex report query?
If I download the xml data in the application builder, I'm finding once the expected xml data size goes over 32k, all I get is a file containing the xml tags but with no data.
32k seems pretty small. I was reaching this limit because I was using APEX_WEB_SERVICE.BLOB2CLOBBASE64 to send an image to my report. I would have thought even just a decent number of rows would reach this size also.
Am I missing something?

Using a SQL data source and XML data source in the same template
I am trying to develop a template for the Request for Quote report generated in Apps 11.5.10. I have loaded the data from the XML output into the template, but I am missing one field - I need the org_id from the po_headers table. Is it possible to use a sql data source (i.e., "select org_id from po_headers_all where po_header_id = [insert header_id from xml data]...") in addition to the xml data source to populate the template at runtime? When you use the Insert > SQL functionality is it static at the time the template is created, or does it call to the database at runtime? I've looked through all the docs I could find, but this isn't clear.

Thats a tough one ... if you go custom with a data template you will at least get support on the data template functionality ie you have a problem when you try and build one. You will not get support on the query inside the data template as you might have gotten with the Oracle Report, well you could at least log a bug against development for a bad query.
Eventually that Oracle Report will be converted by development anyway, theres an R12 project going on right now to switch the shipped OReports to data templates. AT this point you'll be fully supported again but:
1. You have to have R12 and
2. You'll need to wait for the patch
On reflection, if you are confident enough in the query then Oracle will support you on its implementation within a data template. Going forward you may be able to swap out your DT and out in the Oracle one without too much effort.

How to query XML data stored in a CLOB column
I don't know XMLDB, so I have a dumb question about querying XML data which is saved as CLOB in a table.
I have a table (OLAP_AW_PRC), with a CLOB column - AW_XML_TMPL_VAL
This column contains this xml data - [click here|http://www.nasar.net/aw.xml]
Now I want to query the data using the xml tags - like returning the name of AW. This is where I am having trouble, how to query the data from AW_XML_TMPL_VAL clob column.
The following query generates error:

Populating a Crystal Report from XML data
Hi,
I want to populate a Crystal Report using a XML data structure. Below I have explained what Iu2019m trying to do in detail,
u2022 First I will create a Crystal Report using Crystal Report XI R2 designer by connecting to a Oracle database using a native Oracle connection (not ODBC or JDBC)
u2022 Then I want to write a Java application using CR XI R2 JRC SDK to open this report
u2022 Then to run and populate this report using a XML data structure (which I have separately in a disk location. XSD too is available in disk)
u2022 Then to export this report with data to either PDF or RPT file with saved data in to disk.
The questions I have are,
1. Is this possible to do in away?
2. If so, can you please provide me with a sample code for doing this? I tried some of the other threads in the forum but some had broken links.
3. Do the xml and the xsd needs to be in a special format?
4. Is there any other configuration setting I should do?

Thank you for the prompt answer. I have gone through this before. It explains on how to create a report using a xml database from CR designer. What I want to do is to set the data source programmatically to a xml date source from the code. I didnu2019t find anything like that. Is it the same way as setting the database connection information?
Also another question I have is how does a report with two tables work? Say I have a master u2013 detail report (order and order lines). The master part is taken from one table (order_tab) and the detail part is taken from another (order_detail_tab). Do I need to have 2 xmls or is one structured xml sufficient? How will the same work if I have the detail section in a sub-report? Will it work with one or do I need to have two?
