Report Server has only ApShell

Hi everyone.
I installed SAP BPC MS 7.5 normally (windows server 2008 R2), no error occurred.
I created new appsets with no problems apparently.
But when I tested the SQL Server Reporting Services it is only showing the AppSet: ApShell.
I created new appsets but none of them appear when I open the page of the reporting service, only the ApShell.
Another problem is that, when I try to modify any application from a new applictation set this error is occouring:
Cannot connect to the Reporting Server
There is something wrong with the connection with BPC and the Reporting Server.
I checked the names/configurations (Report Server Virtual Directory) in both sides they are the same.
Hope anyone can help.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Gisele
The user account in which BPC is running under, does it have 'Content Administrator' permissions in Reporting Services?
When modifying the application and you get the error can not connect to reporting server, could either be that the user in which BPC is running doesnt have permission to access the report server, or the value defined in Server manager is incorrect, perhaps an incorrect server name, etc
Quick test, from the BPC application server connect to the report sever URL http://<ReportServer>/Reports using the account in which BPC is installed and running under. It must have acces to connect to the report server url without it prompting for any authentication. (no username and password dialog box)
If you are not able to see the reports for the other application sets, you will need to manually publish the reports, this will recreate the reports in the report server. BPC Web Admin -> Publish Reports -> Publish the reports
Kind Regards
Daniel

    Hi Ychinnari,
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, as
Vaishu00547 mentioned that the issue can be caused by the Execution Account you have configured in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager is not correct, Please update the Username and Password and restart the reporting services.
Please also find more details information about when to use the execution account, if possible, please also not specify this account:
This account is used under special circumstances when other sources of credentials are not available:
When the report server connects to a data source that does not require credentials. Examples of data sources that might not require credentials include XML documents and some client-side database applications.
When the report server connects to another server to retrieve external image files or other resources that are referenced in a report.
    Execution Account (SSRS Native Mode)
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

Detach the contentdb from SP and then reattach it. To do that you'd run this command:
STSADM -o deletecontentdb -url https://******.com -databasename whateverdb
Then to add it back you'd do:
STSADM -o addcontentdb url https://******.com -databasename whateverdb
Thank you Mike Yin, I have confirmed that this solution works, I had the exact issue, my investigation steps are in this order:
    1. Verify if there is a orphaned site  (use stsadm.exe -o enumsites or stsadm -o enumallwebs or Test-SPContentDatabase
    2. On my case I found the site orphaned on the root url [/] so I cannot just do a stsadm -o deletesite -force -siteid, so I did is to Remove Content from the CA and then re-add the content db back using CA. (Application Management > open the affected
Content DB and click the Remove content database checkbox. Then click Add a content Database, and re-add the same contentDB.
    3. Verify in the RS Config Manager and click the RS Web Service URL, to see if works.

  • The report server has encountered a configuration error. (rsServerConfigurationError)

    Hi,
One of the server in my organization running SQL server 2008 reporting services.
Users are complaining that they are not able to fetch reports, after going through logs its been found that following three errors are coming although reporting services are running & both report DBs are online :-
Report Server (MSSQLSERVER) cannot load the Windows extension.
Report Server (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database.
Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER) has not been granted access to the catalog content.
Following is the error when we click on reporting link :-
The report server has encountered a configuration error. (rsServerConfigurationError)
We tried restarting Reporting services but still its not working, reporting services & DBs are on same machine.
Same server was rebooted 4 days ago.
    Can anyone please help here.

    Hi Abhishek,
According to the error message, it seems that the issue is caused by the account used to connect catalog database does not have permissions to access the catalog content.
To fix this issue, please refer to the following steps:
    Open Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
Go to "Encryption Keys" to backup the Encryption Key.
Go to "Database" tab to click "Change Credentials" to reset the connections.
If everything is configured correctly but still it didn't work, try to delete encrypted content. Please note that once we delete encrypted content, we cannot recover it. We must re-specify connection strings and stored credentials, and we must activate subscriptions.
    Hope this helps.

Can anyone point to where I might configure the permission it is looking for?  thanks!  Steven

    Steven DeSalvo

    Hi StevenDE2012,
Based on the error message "The report server has encountered a configuration error. Logon failed for the unattended execution account. (rsServerConfigurationError)", it seems that the Unattended Execution Account settings in Reporting Services
    Configuration is not correct.
Reporting Services provides a special account that is used for unattended report processing and for sending connection requests across the network. Unattended report processing refers to any report execution process that is triggered by an event rather than
a user request. The report server uses the unattended report processing account to log on to the computer that hosts the external data source. This account is necessary because the credentials of the Report Server service account are never used to connect
to other computers. To configure the account, please refer to the following steps:
Start the Reporting Services Configuration tool and connect to the report server instance you want to configure.
On the Execution Account page, select Specify an execution account.
Type the account and password, retype the password, and then click Apply.
In addition, please verify you have access to the Report Server database by following steps:
Go to SQL Server Reporting Services Configuration Manager, make sure the configuration is correct.
Go to Database, Verify that you can connect to the database.
Make sure you are granted public and RSExecRole roles.
    Reference:
    Configure the Unattended Execution Account
Configure a Report Server Database Connection
If the problem is unresolved, i would appreciate it if you could give us detailed error log, it will help us move more quickly toward a solution.
    Thanks,
    Wendy Fu

  • Mac G5 reports a windows 2003 server has only 3.4 megs when it has 534 megs

Hello, We use a Windows 2003 Server. We have several macs connected to that server. 1 of these macs shows the windows network share as having only 3.4 megs free. The other macs show the windows share having 500 megs free. The server share does have 500megs free.
Why would this one mac report that there are only 3.4 megs free?
    Thank you in advance.

We have narrowed down the problem and found the culprit.
The issue is only repeatable on 10.4.x (we used 10.4.11 for testing, but it may affect earlier versions as well)
10.4.11 Local folder created with trailing space in the name, then copied to the Windows 2003 server = loss of security tab on this folder
10.4.11 existing folder on the server has a trailing space added to the folder name = loss of security tab on this folder
10.4.11 existing folder on the server has the trailing space REMOVED from the end of the folder name = security tab returns with permissions in tact
10.5.x Local folder created with trailing space in the name, then copied to the Windows 2003 server = no problem
10.5.x existing folder on the server has a trailing space added to the folder name = no problem
10.5.x existing folder (created under 10.4.11) with trailing space in the folder name has the space removed = Error code 43, unknown error occured
Also interesting is that the illegal characters for Windows \ / * : ? " | in the folder name prevent the folder being copied to the Windows 2003 server in 10.4.11, but are allowed in 10.5.x - all expect the : which is an illegal character in OS-X as well. None of these illegal characters cause issues on the Windows 2003 server as they are simply translated to a space.
The solution would be either as AJ mentioned to purchase Thursby AdmitMac or to upgrade all the users to 10.5.x (which I'm sure would make Apple happier!)

  • Sporadic problem: The report server has encountered a configuration error. Logon failed for the unattended execution account.

I have 2 reports that have subscriptions.   I am sporadically getting this error.   If it was really a configuration problem then I think I should get the error every time.     Does any one have any suggestions of
what to look for?    I have not found any errors relating to this problem in the server logs.

    Hi ClareD,
According to the error message, there is an unattended execution account specified on the report server. Based on my research, the issue always occurs when you are using incorrect login name and password. Such as the password expired. Please make sure you
set the correct login name and password.
Besides, please double check if the user has the following permission on the reporting service database server:
Public and RSExecRole roles for the  ReportServer database.
RSExecRole role for the master, msdb, and ReportServerTempDB databases.
If he does not have the permission, please try to grant the proper permission first. For more information, please refer to the article:

If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Enable Excel 2007 format export on Crystal Reports Server 2008 - Sharepoint

I'm trying to use Sharepoint's excel services to post some charts from an exported Crystal report to sharepoint.  However Crystal Reports Server 2008 only exports excel 97-2003 format.  How can I update the Crystal Reports Server 2008 components to support Excel 2007 format.  Has anyone done this before?
    Thanks,
    Dominic

Unfortunately what you are looking for is not possible (At least as far as I know).  Crystal is limited to the formats that it already has - and it is not possible to add additional export formats.
    Sorry

  • Drop down boxes ok in Crystal Reports but not ok in Crystal Reports Server

I have the following problem with "dynamic dropdowns"
Initially, I have a Crystal Report (.rpt).  It has two dynamic drop downs. They work
in both Crystal Reports Designer (preview)  and Crystal Reports Server (right-click-View).
The first drop down is the result of a rather complex sql query. The second drop down
is a child of the first.
I make a small change to the sql "WHERE" clause using the Crystal Reports Designer. It works fine in preview.
I save (Enterprise mode) to Crystal Server. I use Business View Manager to configure
the _DC_n object.  (I did notice that the .._DC_n gets incremented by one.)
The _DF object seems to know about the updated sql so I do not have change it.
However, when I go to back to Crystal Reports Server, and right-click-View, the
"dynamic dropdown" is not working properly.  I can not make sense
    of what has been retrieved.
Please tell me what is most likely to have gone wrong here?  The Business View Manager
seemed to knew about the sql change. But Crystal Reports Server has
not responded to the change in the same way as Crystal Reports Designer.
                       ...thank you, Stan

When you publish a report to Crystal Server, the dynamic prompts are no longer handled in the report itself.  Instead depending on how they're published, they either go away or they're published to the "repository" and managed through the "Business View Manager" (BVM), which is available as part of the Client Tools install.
To get the dynamic prompt into the repository, you have to check the "Enable Repository Refresh" checkbox at the bottom of the "Save As" screen after you log in to CRS.  However, doing it this way is NOT best practice, especially if you're using the query from the report to provide the data for the prompt.  If you do this for all of your reports, you get a LOT of bloat in the repository objects and it makes the job of migrating from one version of CRS to another MUCH more difficult!
What I've done in the past to get a simple "sample" prompt published is create a report that just contains the data that I want to have in the dynamic parameter using a single table - this is usually what I call a "lookup" table that has a "code" field and a "description" or "name" field.  I then create a dynamic parameter in that report that just pulls the data from the single table.  I'll publish the report to my favorites with the Repository Refresh enabled.
I then run the BVM and look for the following objects (default location is under "Cascading Dynamic Prompts":
<prompt name>_DC - This is the Data Connection for the prompt.  Edit this, enter the password, and set it to "Never Prompt" for the password.  NOTE:  This DC can be reused by multiple prompts.  If you continue to add prompts through publishing Crystal Reports with prompts, you will get MANY of  these that all point to the same database!
<prompt name>_DF - This is the Data Foundation for the prompts.  When you create a new one, you need to select an existing DC and then either one or more tables or write a command to provide the data for your prompt.  It works much like the Database Explorer in Crystal.  The one that was just saved has all of the information required for the prompt.
<prompt name>_BE - This is the Business Element.  When you create one, you have to select and existing DF and one or more fields.  You can also create a filter on the data.  This is used to generate the SQL that will be run to provide the data for the prompt.
<prompt name>_ BV - This is the Business View.  When you create one, you have to select the Business Element.  I'm not sure of the exact purpose of this, but you have to have one in order to set up the "List of Values".
<prompt name> - This is the List of Values (LOV).  This defines what fields are available for the prompt itself.
You can create folders to organize these objects so that its easier to maintain.
To use a LOV that you've defined in BVM to feed data to new dynamic prompts, do the following:
    1.  Connect to CRS from Crystal.
    2.  Create/Edit your prompt.
    3.  Set the prompt to be dynamic.
    4.  Under "Choose a Data Source", select "Existing" and select the LOV from the drop-down list.
    5.  Update the properties in the parameter.
When viewing or scheduling a report, the dynamic prompts will run through the Crystal Reports 2013 Report Application Server in CRS (it will be named differently if you're not on CRS 2013, but will have "Report Application Server" in the name.)

Could you plz help me? I have no idea what to do.

    Hi Vivek,
In Reporting Services, values for LogonUser, LogonDomain, and LogonCred are created when the report server connection is configured to use a domain account. As to the error that “The encrypted value for the "LogonCred" configuration setting cannot be decrypted”,
we can know that it relates to the domain account for report server connection.
To fix this issue, we can refer to the following steps:
Log in to SQL Server Database Engine in SQL Server Management Studio.
Under Security folder, give sufficient permissions for your domain account.
Open your Reporting Services Configuration (go to Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 -> Configuration Tools -> Reporting Services Configuration)
Navigate to the Database Setup tab, select ‘Service Credentials’ as the Credentials Type, then type your domain account and password in there. Press Apply.
    Restart the Report Server services.

    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to create a reports server to test web.show_document in Forms 10.1.2

    Hi all,
In Forms 10.1.2 DS, I'm trying to use the web.show_document built-in to 'generate' a report from a .jsp file. This JSP file was created by wizard through creating a report object in the Object Navigator. The code I'm using from a push button is as follows:
    web.show_document('http://<hostname>:8889/reports/rwservlet?report=<dirpath>\Sales.jsp&userid=<username/password@connectstring&server=<server_name>'
As far as I am aware no 'reports server' has been created so I've tried the following command in a dos window:
    rwserver -install <server_name>
but this just raises an 'alert' indicating that I should consult an installation guide to setup and install the server. So my questions are:
    (1) Is what I'm trying to do supported in DS?
    (2) What installation guide should I consult?
Any information on this would be gratefully appreciated,
    Kevin.

    Hi Inol,
Thanks for the response. I agree with the comment about exposing user details, I'm just doing a bit of experimenting at the moment! I tried to do what you suggest in terms of changing the URL but whether I reference the server or leave it out, the subsequent browser session seems to hang and then eventually I get a 'Page Not Found' response. On using the URL 'http://127.0.0.1:8889/reports/rwservlet/showenv?', I get an 'Access Denied' Error Page. Is there something additional I need to set up with regards to Reports to get this to work?
    regards,
    Kevin.

  • SQL Server 2012 Reporting Server Default USER group instance missing

    Hi
We have installed SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 on Windows 2012 Server and we can’t see any SSRS default group on windows server group list say something like (SQLServerReportServerUser$TestServer$MSRS11_50.MSSQLSERVER)
created as part of the installation
we are migrating SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012, we were able to see default group for Reporting Server has been created in the earlier versions like SQLServerReportServerUser$TestServer$MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER
Can you please assist whether we are missing anything in the SQL Server 2012 installation, this needs to be fixed as part of Report server user authentication
    Thanks,
    Harish

  • [Forum FAQ] The Reporting Server cannot be reinstalled on a same SQL Server Reporting Service instance

Symptom: Sometimes, when you want to reinstall the Reporting Server Role for Operation Manager 2012,
but you may encounter an issue that the Reporting Server Role cannot be reinstalled after you successfully uninstall it. When you check the System Center Operation Manager installation log, you can find the following error as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1: Reporting Server Role cannot be reinstalled
It seems that the SQL Server Reporting Service has not been configured properly. When you open Reporting Services Configuration Manager to check the settings, the settings seem fine though.
Even you recreate Reporting Service Database, the error remains.
After reviewing the OpsMgrSetupWizard.log, we get the following errors when wizard try to connect to SQL Server Reporting Instance (Figure 2).
    [07:24:05]:    Error:  :CheckHttpAddressResponse failed: Threw Exception.Type: System.Net.WebException, Exception Error Code: 0x80131509, Exception.Message:
The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
    [07:24:05]:    Error:  :StackTrace:   at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.OperationsManager.Setup.ReportingComponent.CheckHttpResponseFromSRSUrl(String
    httpSite)
    Figure 2: Error Log -1
It indicates the Reporting Service encounters an internal error. The Website cannot handle the request. So you may check the Reporting Service log which is located in C:\Users\Administrator.SCOM2012\AppData\Local\SCOM\LOGS
and the following errors may be found (Figure 3).
    library!ReportServer_0-18!1448!03/30/2014-02:53:23:: e ERROR: Throwing Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException:
Unable to load assembly Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Reporting.Security, Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ServerConfigurationErrorException: The report server has encountered a configuration error.  ---> System.IO.FileNotFoundException:
Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Reporting.Security' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
    File name: 'Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Reporting.Security'
    Figure 3: Error Log -2
Reason: After the Reporting Server is installed on a SSRS instance, the Reporting Server of SCOM
needs to modify the web.config and rsreportserver.config  file to add its own assembly to make the Reporting Server work. But it does not change it back when Reporting Server is uninstalled. So the assembly cannot be loaded and the SSRS cannot respond
    our requests.
Resolution:  When the Reporting Server is installed, the old web.config and rsreportsserver.config
files will be backed up to web.config1 and rsreportsserver.config1. So you just need to change the files’ name back, then try to install Reporting Server of SCOM again. Everything would go smoothly.

    Hi AakashGhare,
According to your error message, SQL Server 2008 databases are version 655. SQL Server 2008 R2 databases are 661. When you are trying to attach an 2008 R2 database (v. 661) to an 2008 instance and this is not supported. As other post, once the database has
been upgraded to an 2008 R2 version, it cannot be downgraded. You'll have to either upgrade your 2008 SP2 instance to R2, or you have to copy out the data in that database into an 2008 database (such as using the data migration wizard).
In addition, if you want to use a Windows Batch file code and command to automatically login to SQL Server, detach database and attach a new one database, there is a similar details about batch code for attaching database to a new database, you can refer
    to this article.
