Report with subreports. Web Service/XML problem. Please help!

Hi,
I have a composite report (main report with 9 subreports). The report uses web service as datasorce and is provided with single xml file containing the schema and all the tables for the main reports and its subreports.
The problem I encounter is that i have to establish a connection for each subreport in order to get it work and it is the same connection. Moreover, I have observed that each time a subreport is drilled there is distinct call to the web service.
So, i end up having a single .rpt file which makes up to 10 unnecessary calls over http just get the same xml data ???
I've tried everything to solve this problem without any success.
Option 1: Removing subreports. Not posible because main report can not handle multiple detail section separately.
Option 2: Using multiple detail section in main report and conditionally suppress rows. Not possible
Option 3: Removing datasource from subreports and pass array variables instead. Not posible
Option 4: Remove subreports and use crosstabs in main report. Not posible
Any ideas?
Please I would greatly appreciate any input, I am getting quite desperate about this.
Thank you very much.

Subreports make their own data connection, the reason why subreports are used for other data sources.

    Hi, I finally solved this problem, the JDNI entry value is not configured properly for the session bean that's built for the service end point.
    Changed JNDI value, and use that value in the service locator to look up the session bean home, it worked.

  • Web Services wont start, please help

    Hello all,
    I appologize up front but I dont really have a lot of experience with OSX server. So yesterday I got a report that my companied website was down. I went in to check the server and it wouldnt log in just got the pinwheel for about 10 minutes so we rebooted it (me and my IT staff). Upon reboot we could login and all seems well except that the web services wont start and our website is still down. when you try and start the service you get:
    " A service has encountered and error, Try to refresh the view (172.18.180.15/Web). Report the problem to the administrator if it persists. (could not start web service - details in error log)."
    but when you go to the log to see what is going on the last entry says:
    " [Thu Jan 15 14:47:27 2009] [error] [client 172.18.180.15] File does not exist: /Library/WebServer/Documents/error.html "
    that is about the time that the website appears to have gone offline... Also after navigating to the directory it says, there indeed is no error.html but all other files appear to be there. I have also used the terminal to read the last 100 lines of the error log file using tail -100 /var/log/httpd/error_log and get:

    So im at a loss and any ideas would be much appricated. I know that earlier in the day one of our web people updated our website to add a calender using dreamweaver but dont know much about exactly what was done.
    Thanks again
    Troy Smith

    Thanks for the responce. So it looks to me like the content of the webpage is all there , minus the error.html file. Its all located in Library/webserver/documents. I have gone there and am even able to bring up our webpage by launching index.html and it appears to work perfectly with no broken links. you just cant access it from the outside world.
    here is the last bit of the access log:

  • Document Style web service in process - Please Help

    All,
    I have created a simple Document-oriented web service and deployed to a standalone OC4J container using the following code:
    ********************* Interface ***********************
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    interface PrimeNumberService
    //method to check the primality of the number passed in Element variable
    public Element isPrime(Element e) ;
    ******************** Implementation *******************
    @version 1.0
    Development Environment : Oracle9i JDeveloper
    Name of the File : PrimeNumberServiceImpl.java
    Creation/Modification History :
    13-Apr-2002 Created
    Overview:
    This class file defines methods to implement PrimeNumberWebService.
    The method isPrime() is exposed by the Web Service.
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    import oracle.xml.parser.v2.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class PrimeNumberServiceImpl implements PrimeNumberService
    public PrimeNumberServiceImpl()
    * This method is exposed by the Web Service to check if the number is
    * prime. It extracts the number for input element and checks if it is
    * prime or not and return the output in the XML Element.
    * The input element is of the form <number>23</number>
    public Element isPrime(Element e)
    // define an XML Element that will be returned to the client
    Element processedEl=null;
    try{
    // get the first clild of input element
    Node enode = e.getFirstChild();
    //get the value of input element and parse it
    String value= enode.getNodeValue();
    double number = Double.parseDouble(value);
    String answer=null;
    // check if the input number is prime
    answer = checkPrime(number);
    // create element from the answer
    processedEl =createElement(answer);
    }catch(Exception ex){
    ex.printStackTrace();
    return null;
    // return output to client
    return processedEl;
    * This method creates an XML element from the input string values and return it
    * The Element is of the form <answer>value</answer>
    private Element createElement(String value){
    // create a Document object
    Document xmldoc = new XMLDocument();
    // create an element with name "answer"
    Element e1 = xmldoc.createElement("answer");
    // append the element to document object
    xmldoc.appendChild(e1);
    // create a Text object from input values and append it to above element
    Text t = xmldoc.createTextNode(value);
    e1.appendChild(t);
    return (Element)xmldoc.getFirstChild();
    * This method check if the input number is prime or not
    private String checkPrime(double num){
    //For a prime number mod(power(2,number),number) is equal to 2
    if ( Math.IEEEremainder( Math.pow(2.0,num) ,num)==2){

  • Return Data from Oracle using a web service in AXIS - please help

    Hi Forum,
    I am very new to web services and Java tech. and recently I have been assigned to work with technology and I am struggling to learn it and need your help and assistance.
    I am trying to return some data from a an oracle database but I have to do that using a web service and I am using AXIS. For example below is a simple program that returns two columns for the demo EMP table
    import java.sql.*;
    class emp {
    public static void main(String args[])
    throws ClassNotFoundException, SQLException {
    Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
    // or you can use:
    // DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:orcl","scott", "tiger");
    Statement stmt = conn.createStatement( );
    ResultSet rset = stmt.executeQuery("select * from emp");
    while(rset.next( )) {
    System.out.println(rset.getString(1));
    System.out.println(rset.getString(2));
    rset.close( );
    stmt.close( );
    conn.close( );
    } but I do not know how to convert this into a web service.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ravi

              Document doc = builder.newDocument();
              Element results = doc.createElement("Results");
              doc.appendChild(results);
              ResultSetMetaData rsmd = rs.getMetaData();
              int colCount = rsmd.getColumnCount();
              while (rs.next())
              Element row = doc.createElement("Row");
              results.appendChild(row);
              for (int i = 1; i <= colCount; i++)
              String columnName = rsmd.getColumnName(i);
              Object value = rs.getObject(i);
              Element node = doc.createElement(columnName);
              node.appendChild(doc.createTextNode(value.toString()));
              row.appendChild(node);
              return res_doc;

  • New operation for existing web service...please help!

    Hello,
    I created a web service using "Create Web Service" wizard from SE37 for my function group - ZTEST. There are total 2 function modules in this function group - ZTEST1 and ZTEST2. It has been deployed under SOAP runtime. The service is active and tested successfully. In SOAMANAGER, I see ZTEST1 and ZTEST2 as different operations. Now I have created a new function module ZTEST3 under function group ZTEST and want it to be available as third operation in my existing web service. How can I do that?

    Under "Internal View" tab of service definition right click and select "Modify Operation" it will give you option to chose other FMs.

  • Service Module Problem -- Please Help!

    Greetings,
    I simply cannot get iTunes to recognize my iPod. I am running iTunes 7.1.1 and Windows XP. I have tried every suggestion at the Apple website, and nothing works. Instead I get the message "IPod Service Module has encountered a problem and needs to close." I have even gone so far as to uninstall 7.1.1 and reinstall 6.0.5, and that didn't work either.
    Going through this and other forums, the only suggestion I have seen that I haven't tried is reinstalling Windows. That seems like an extreme measure, and I would rather try something less drastic.
    If any Apple employees are reading this, I love my iPod. It's a great toy. But, this is an extremely frustrating problem, and I know I'm not the only one who's had it. Can you guys possibly fix this issue(s) in the next iTunes release?
    Thanks for any and all help,
    Jason
    5th generation IPod -- 55G   Windows XP

    we'll get a crash log from itunes, and send it to the Apple engineers for a look.
    Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
    This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
    prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
    Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and and send it as an attachment to this email address.
    in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • Problem with Spotlight and some system problem, Please HELP!

    I'm using iMac G5 with iSight (10.4.8)
    Recently, I've noticed that my spotlight didn't search anything, when I type something it just do nothing.
    I try to re indexing the spotlight by move the HD to the privacy zone in the spotlight preference but nothing appear on the list. I can't add anything to the privacy zone both by draging the folder or click + button.
    Then I search for the application that can clear the cache and re indexing the spotlight, I found Onyx and Maintenance.
    Both of them can't be open, it say that I have to use an admin account.
    Even I was logged in as a Admin, I have only one account in the system and set as an admin already.
    So, I search on the internet and someone suggest another way to re index in terminal by using this command: sudo mdutil -E /
    First I open the terminal and type the command, it said "-bash: sudo: command not found "
    So, I try to use terminal by boot on the DVD that bundle with iMac, and same result.
    I tried boot in single user by press command and S when boot and type sudo command, same reult.
    Another information, I noticed on my macbook when I open the terminal, it will show this info:
    Last login: show the time
    Welcom to Darwin!
    My computer name
    But on my iMac, it didn't show anything except only the computer name line.
    What should I do? Thanks

    Highly recommend that you read, reread and understand the consequences and then follow the directions as presented on X Lab
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/stopspotlightindex.html
    That is before you follow some of the directions you find on some of these discussions. Even mine.

    However if I restart the CF server, no matter how many times I am

    just fine. I am still a little new on this subject and any

    then I append that object to an array and try t o return the array.
    Here is the basics of the loop:
    <cfset theArray = arrayNew(1)>
    <cfobject component = "games" name = "test>

    <cfreturn theArray>
    my return type is array, I think the problem is I need to
    specify the return type to be an array of arbritray complex types
    which is impossible to do in CF. Anyone find a way to get around
    this?? Any feed back at all would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, I have tried it and return type any does not work in
    this situation since this function is being consumed by a web
    service. It needs to be in the form of an array of arbritrary type
    that is defined in a cfc file. Since this is WSDL the returntype
    has to be specified to every last bit.

  • Problem with RESTful web service

    I am running into a problem with Flex Web Services (REST) in trying to get the proper format returned. I can see that the HTTP header is set to
    Accept: */*;
    rather than
    Accept: application/xml
    when sending the request. The web service was generated via the web services HTTP data services wizard. I edited it to set the resultFormat to xml
        // Constructor
        public function _Super_UsersService()
            // initialize service control
            _serviceControl = new mx.rpc.http.HTTPMultiService();
             var operations:Array = new Array();
             var operation:mx.rpc.http.Operation;
             var argsArray:Array;
             operation = new mx.rpc.http.Operation(null, "getUsers");
             operation.url = "http://localhost:8888/users";
             operation.contentType = "";
             operation.method = "GET";
             operation.resultFormat = "xml";
             //operation.serializationFilter = serializer0;
             operation.properties = new Object();
             operation.properties["xPath"] = "/";
             operation.resultType = valueObjects.Users;
             operations.push(operation);
             _serviceControl.operationList = operations;
             model_internal::initialize();
    How does one configure the accept header?

    Hi,
    I have posted a simple application with the RESTful reference:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=13758
    I can give you full privileges on this so you can look at the WEB service reference. Shall I send to you separately for login user?
    It is using the RESTful service: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/nd_pat_miller/demo/employee/{deptno}
    This RESTful service tests fine when I test from within the RESTful web service module of the Workspace.
    I based this on the Video demo tutorial for RESTful web service that Oracle published for 4.2 release. The video seemed to exclude the {deptno} in the URL but when I try that, it doesn't work either.
    This is the error I am getting when I run this on my Apex environment: (it, of course, will not run the web service in the apex.oracle.com environment)

  • Report published as web service with parameters

    hi,I have a problem in a report published as web service.indeed, the report has a parameter, a date.Client side I do this://I create the parameter             ParameterFields paramFields = new ParameterFields();            ParameterField paramField = new ParameterField();            ParameterDiscreteValue paramDiscreteValue = new ParameterDiscreteValue();            paramField.Name = "date";            paramDiscreteValue.Value = "10/10/2006";            paramField.CurrentValues.Add(paramDiscreteValue);            paramFields.Add(paramField);//I add the parameter into the crVievwer            crystalReportViewer.ParameterFieldInfo = paramFields;//I call the web service to get data            crystalReportViewer.ReportSource = "http://localhost/WebService/Rapport1Service.asmx"; Server Side :Now, I want to get back the parameter in the web service (in Rapport1Service.asmx, so server-side) to be able to call my storedprocedure with the good parameter, this one which was put on the client side (10/10/2006).I tried to do crystalReportViewer.ReportSource = "http://localhost/WebService/Rapport1Service.asmx?date=22/10/2006" on the client side but no way. i don't find a solution, is there any way to make this possible ?Moreover, i have one database for each user, so i need to pass the user name, password and account too..

    I have found a solution.
    I  create a web service in which i return a dataset, filled with the data wanted.the web service take as parameter: the report name we want, the parameter(s), and the username and password (to check if the user has right to access to data.)After that, I fill the report, client side, with the datasen given. i don't know if it's the best solution but it works !

  • Problem with Oracle Web Service Proxies reusing classes and exceptions

    We have an application that have many web services and we're having a really hard time working with Oracle Web Service Proxy. We have many web services that share the same classes for parameters and exceptions. When we generate de proxy classes, it generates a lot of _LiteralSerializer classes. Because I'm reusing the same classes and exceptions it generates the same _LiteralSerializer classes for this classes and they get replaced. For Example
    I have classes A and B and Web Services X and Y that use this classes. When I generate the 2 proxies it generates A_LiteralSerializer and B_LiteralSerializer on the 2 proxies and they get replaced and I get "No serlalizers for A class or B class". This problems repeats a lot of times and this problem is a huge risk for our project. We're using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.
    Is there a way to avoid this with Oracle Web Service Proxies?
    Regards,
    Néstor

    Resolved when I create a deployement profile explicitly.
    The Webservice.deploy that gets created automatically when I create a web service was giving this issue.

  • Class path problem with POJO web service

    I created a simple web service manually:
    - created java class;
    - generated web-services.xml
    - coplied web-services.xml into my *.war file, WEB-INF directory.
    This works fine as long as the class that implements web service is in the war file in folder /WEB-INF/classes.
    I need the java class to be in one of the jar files in the folder /WEB-INF/lib. This does not work. I am getting class not found error.
    I tried to modify <java-class> element to specify the jar file (the same way as ejb-link element does):
    <java-class class-name="my.jar#my.Service" name="MyService">
    </java-class>
    This did not help either. How can I specify name of POJO class in the *.jar file?
    Thanks,
    Serguei

    PATH and CLASSPATH are different. PATH is an environment variable used by windows to locate programs. CLASSPATH is an environment variable that java uses to find classes.
    You need to create a new environment variable. The easiest way to do it in win2k (and to keep it after you reboot) is to do this: right click on "My Computer" and click "Properties" (or go to "System" in the control panel). Click on the "Advanced" tab. Click the "Enviroment Variables..." button. In that window, add a system variable by clicking "New..." in the bottom half. Variable Name: "CLASSPATH" Variable Value: ".;J:\Skribe\Tools\mysql-connector-java-3.0.0-beta\mysql-connector-java-3.0.0-beta-bin.jar;J:\jakarta-log4j-1.2.6\dist\lib\log4j-1.2.6.jar"
    You have to make sure that ".;" is the first thing on the line. This tells java to look in the current active directory first for classes it doesn't recognize, then in locations you specify. By default, it just looks in the current directory.
    Hope this helps.
