Reports Server in the oracle9ias R2

Hello, Does anybody know how can I call a Report (a .REP file) from a HTML Link?
I was looking for the cgicmd.dat file, because I read in the documentation that I have to write the description of my report there, but this file doesn´t exist in the installation of my application server.
I can start the report server without any problem from the OEM web site.
Can somebody help me?
Regards,
Sergio

Our developers mostly call from an HTML page with a url that looks like:
http://yourserver:7778/reports/rwservlet?reportname
The line above assumes the entry is present in the cgi file. If it is not, then you just include all the other parameters in the url - things like desformat, destype, etc.

    1. Check these files to make sure you have the correct port settings for your forms: formsweb.cfg, base.htm
    2. In your Windows Registry:
    a. Add path for Reports Server (REPORTSxx_PATH)
    b. Make sure you also have FORMSxx_PATH defined
    c. Check values of your OracleFormsServer.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    SYSTEM
    ControlSet001
    Services
    OracleFormsServer
Verify the values of Host, Mode, Pool and Port.
    3. Check Metalink Note 97487.1 for additional info.
And YES, Apache, Forms, Reports and Graphics can all run in the same machine.

Are you trying to connect to a site in general, eg
http://www.mydomain.com/ or a specific page, eg
    http://www.mydomain.com/mypage.asp ?
If you're connecting to a site in general, have you made sure the page you're using as your default page (eg index.asp, index.aspx, index.htm, default.asp etc) is configured in IIS to be a default content page? Have you tried specifying the particular page
    you're trying to load?
If you're connecting to a specific page, have you made sure the type of page has been enabled, eg .htm, asp (classic asp), aspx etc?
If you look in the IIS logs for the site, can you see your connection attempts being listed so you can be sure you're actually getting to the site on that server rather than there being a DNS issue or something similar?
Might be worth asking over at the MS IIS forum
http://forums.iis.net/ which runs separately to the main TechNet one.

  • Form & Reports Server uses the wrong alias (localhost.localdomain)

We installed Oracle Application Server 9i (1.0.2.2.1) on a RedHat 7.1 machine. The database (8.1.7) is installed on another computer with RedHat 6.2 installed.
At the installation something goes wrong. He took the localhost.localdomain as alias for the computername and inserted this in some scripts - a large part of them are APACHE scripts.
Rerun the SSODATAN script solved the problem with the login server.
    Install.log contains no errors!
But we have not found the points where the forms- and reportsserver is registerd.
It is possible to edit this entries by hand or is there a possiblity to install the forms- and report server manually.
    Thx

    Hi,
Its not possible to selectively install Forms and Reports, you will have to reinstall iAS.
    Thanks,

  • Starting the reports server as a servlet

Dear friends, I'm trying to run a JSP Report which was built with JDev and Report Builder, but when I compiled the JSP Report on JDev, the Internet Browser has started with the LOADING... page and nothing happened.
I have Report Services and HTTP Server started, but I can't verify if the Reports Servlet is running.
I've been reading the "Publishing Reports to the Web with Oracle9iAS Reports Services" document at "http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/reports/htdocs/doc_library/getstart/docs/a92102_01.pdf" and it's written that we can start the reports server as a servlet typing :
    http://< your_machine_name>:<your_port_num>/reports/rwservlet
    In my case :
    <your_machine_name> = bicas
<your_port_num> = Is it a HTTP port number? If it is. = 80
    Then :
    http://bicas:80/reports/rwservlet
But this return a HTTP 404 error, page not found.
I have Oracle9iDS and Oracle9iAS installed on the same machine.
What do I need to do to start the reports server as a servlet?
Do I need to do this to run a JSP Report from the Web?

    Try the following:
    1) Create a new project in JDev
    2) Add a new Reports JSP object into the project from 'File -> new' (this'll setup the project form JSP report execution)
    3) Edit the JSP report, or add your own jsp report to the project
    4) run the JSP report
To use Reports servlet's in-process server, remove 'server=...' from JSP tag rw:report's 'parameters' attribute, and make sure JVM is set to 'hotspot' in 'Project Setting -> Runner'.
To use standalone Reports server, start the server, and specified the server in rw:report's 'parameters' attribute.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to overwrite report saved on the server?

    Hi.
Am running into an interesting problem with a SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services instance that I'm running. For reference it's Reporting Services 2012 on a Windows Server 2012 R2 box, but the ReportServer and TempDB's are being hosted on a Windows Server
    2008 R2 server running SQL Server 2008 R2.
Basically everything works, as it should - with the exception of saving reports in Report Builder, that already exist on the server (so overwriting them).
So I can open any report, work on it, and save it as a new name and it saves fine. If I then attempt to save that report with the same name as any other report, the ReportBuilder window freezes for 120 seconds before throwing the following error:
    Failed to save report 'https://myreportserver......'
An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database.
---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerStorageException: An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. --->
System.Exception: For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors
The strange thing is, I'm pretty sure it's none of these problems. Neither the Reporting Services or the SQL Server where the databases are kept are having any performance problems of any kind, and there's no unusual load on the servers at the time I attempt
to save the file. I can't find any other error logs on either server to indicate there's an issue. Most interestingly is that whilst waiting for this error to occur I can see on the SQL Server that the database (or at least a number of tables) become locked
and for the entire 120 seconds the report server becomes unusable as every other task ends up queued until the timeout happens.
It doesn't seem to be a permissions problem from what I can see either on Reporting Services, or within the database as I can see that the service account used to access the databases has the correct 'RSExecRole' permission on all the right databases, and
dbo on the ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB databases.
I'm a little stumped. Have Googled (um, sorry, Binged) this problem for hours and can't find a similar problem. Anybody seen this before? Thanks.

Well seems like this was a bug that was fixed in SQL 2012 Service Pack 2! I've just applied it to the system in question, and it works as it should now.
At least this information is up here for others who may encounter it now!

  • "unable to connect to the data access service" installing report server

Trying to do a 2 server SCOM 2012 R2 install on Server 2012 w/SQL 2012.  Management server and operations console on one, and SQL, web console, and reporting server on the other.  When I get to the web console and reporting server install, and
the "Specify Management Server" screen, I input the 1st management server name and it gives me a red X with the message:
"Unable to connect to the Data Access service for this management server. Ensure the Data Access service is running and that the service, the management group, and setup are all the same version."
Here is the setup log error:
"Info: :Could not connect to Management Server: scom-app with exception: Threw Exception.Type: System.ArgumentException, Exception Error Code: 0x80070057, Exception.Message: Version string portion was too short or
    too long."
I don't see the "Data Access" service in services on either server.  I followed all of the setup prereqs in SCOM 2012 unleashed book, and also referenced this article for setup advice:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/kevinholman/archive/2013/01/16/opsmgr-2012-sp1-quickstart-deployment-guide.aspx
Everything seems to be working until I get to this point.
Thank you for any help you can provide,
    Dan

    Hi Tom,
    1. Did the setup complete successfully on the MS and Console server?
    >>>Yes, without issue
    2. You do not see the service "System Center Data Access Service"
    >>>I do indeed see it on the MS and Console server, it is set to Auto and running.  (I also tried rebooting this server and retried, no help)
    3. Is the Windows Firewall enabled?
    >>>It has symantec endpoint protection.  I disabled symantec completely on both servers and retried, no help.

  • Error in Accessing the Report Server URL

    Hi All,
I am trying to access the Report Server URL in PowerPivot. But facing below issue .Can any one help me how can I solve the issue
    Thanks,
    Sid

    Hi Visakh,
Yes,The user is holding the permission as "Global User" in sql.Hope you help me in solve this issue
Thanks, Quality Communication Provides Quality Work. http://siddiq-sharepoint2010.blogspot.in/ Siddiqali Mohammad .
    Hi siddiqali,
According to the screenshot you posted above, the use account didn't have sufficient permission to open the report, please check the following prerequisites before you perform the action:
You must use a report definition (.rdl) file as a data source. Importing from a report model is not supported.
You must have permission to open the report under your Windows user account, and you must know the address of the report or the report server that hosts it. You can check your permissions by trying to open the report in a Web browser first.
If the report opens, it confirms that you have sufficient permissions and the correct URL.
Reporting Services must be version SQL Server 2008 R2 or SQL Server 2012. Those versions include the data feed export feature that streams report data in the XML data feed format. You can identify the report server by the Export as Data Feed option
that appears in the report toolbar when you open the report in browser:
    For detail information, please see:

  • Ask for debugging when customize authorization in the security extension sample of report server

I have tried the sample of reporting service provide in MSDN
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms160724.aspx
I successfully deploy the sample in my report server. But I want to know what happen in the authorization in order to authorize right to different user login from the login page. I can't debug the class Authorization by attaching aspnet_wp.exe in the process.
Actually I want to know the value of secDesc, AceStruct ace in each CheckAccess method. But I can't debug in the file Authorization that implement interface IAuthorizationExtension. I try to add some coding in the Authorization class to write  the value of secDesc, AceStruct ace in file. It fails. Create Event log.... it also fail...any other method?

    Hi,
"secDesc" is the security descriptor, which contains the following information for an item in the report server database:
The group or user that has some type of permission to perform operations on the item.
    The item's type.
A discretionary access control list controlling access to the item.
AceStruct  is an access control entry for a trustee (user, group, or computer) that specifies the operations that a trustee can perform on items in the report server database. You can get a instance of AceStruct by de-serializing “secDesc”
In addition, when you tried to debug the program, did you follow the steps below.
Start Visual Studio .NET and open CustomSecurity.sln on your test report server.
Open Internet Explorer and navigate to Report Manager while leaving the sample code open in Visual Studio.
Switch to Visual Studio and set some break points in the custom security extension project code.
With the extension project still the active window, from the Debug menu, click Process. The Processes dialog opens.
From the list of processes, select the Aspnet_wp.exe process (or W3wp.exe, if your application is deployed on IIS 6.0), and click Attach.
In the Attach to Process dialog, select the Common Language Runtime program type, and then click OK. For improved debugging performance, make sure that Native is not a selected program type.
When the sample runs, a logon form appears. Type the user credentials into the logon form and click the Logon button. Whenever your break points are encountered during processing, the debugger should stop execution that point.
Step through your code using the F11 key.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
