Req: Draw Concentric Circles - help please!

Hi all!
Newbie question:
I'm trying to draw a series of concentric circles in Flash 5
The circle tool always starts to draw the circle from a
corner - this makes it tricky to draw a set of concentric circles
I'm sure there's a way of setting defaults so that Flash will
draw circles (or other shapes like rectangles) about their centres
instead of their corners, but I can't find the setting.
Sorry for the dumb question!

Thanks, but it's still not quite what I'm after.
If you scale the circles serially as you suggest, the gap
between circles is not equal; as the circles get smaller, the gap
between them also gets narrower, rather like ripples on a pond. I
wanted the circles to be concentric, but each one to be a fixed
distance from the next, rather than a geometric progression.
Also, I'd still like to be able to constrain the "draw
rectangle" and "draw circle" commands to draw from the centre
rather than the corner....
Any more suggestions, or is upgrading to Flash 8 the only
solution ? ;-)

Help please with concentric circles

I'm working in full Photoshop CS5, I'm trying to create a layer with transparent background and a series of concentric circles of regularly increasing diameter, transparent fill and lines of maybe 2pt thickness and 70% opacity.
I can't work out how to do it. Can anyone please give me a quick rundown of the steps, or point me to a resource that addresses this kind of task?

It is not that complicated. Add new empty layer. Set guide lines. Oval selection to set to fixed aspect ratio 1:1 drag out selection. Stroke selection. repeat drag out selection stroke or transform selection stroke. Then set layer tp 70% opacity. You can even create an action to do this if its something you would do often. However it would be a bit tricky to record to work on any document. Its very hard to record actions in a relative way. If you try using percentage ruler units the document Aspect ratio would effect the selection. Only document with the same aspect ratio would have circle selections. Use a relative unit like inches you would need to scale the document. and if you want to have a max size circle in there. The Document orientation needs to be known. A little scripting would go a long way in helping there. I created some scripts to be used in actions. Several are what I call run twice scripts. These are more or less like a save and restore functions for actions. One in named orient the first time its run it will save the documents orientation and rotate portraits 90 degrees. The second time its run it will rotate portraits the were rotated back to portrait. A second saves and restores ruler units and the document resolution. So and action is free to change ruler units a scale the document size by changing the DPI resolution without resampling it. So all you need do is to record an action the will work on lanscale documents you can rotate portraits and scale document to a known size.
Here are a couple of actions without any scripts added they should show the problems creating actions have dealing with aspect ratio and size. The landscape action scales the document however it can not scale it back without the script.

My desktop disappeared. When the computer starts, it opens in finder. Also, it acts like something is running. The spinning circle is spinning, will stop for a minute then starts again. What is wrong? Help please.

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. Maybe this will let the iPad reboot and then you may need to restore again but see if this helps to start the iPad first.

This is with regard to creating a compound path:
I have set some white type on a circle and then created outlines. I then placed the outlined type on a black stroked ring which I then selected "outlined stroke." I then put both "outlined" graphical elements on a separate solid bkg. (all 3 are on the same layer). Lastly, I then selected the top two elements and went to "make" a "compound path" (because I want the type to be the "holes" so I can see through to the background). However, the only effect I get is the white outlined type turning black (the same color as the black ring). What am i doing wrong? I can achieve the desired result with simple boxes but it won't work with a circular type path, a stroked ring and a solid bkg.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, I tried your suggestion with no success. BTW, minus front is now Subtract. Apparently, by clicking option>subtract, it works in the same way as minus front. I tried this to no avail.
Let me reiterate please.
I have 3 graphic elements-all on the same layer:
1. Background: Gold circle with a fill and no stroke.
2. Middle: Black ring (Stroked) inside gold background circle.
3. Top: White copy set on a circular type path and placed directly on top of middle black ring.
Both the middle black ring and top type path HAVE BEEN CONVERTED TO OUTLINES.
LASTLY, I select the Middle and Top, go to Compound Paths and choose "Make" and my white copy turns to black. Wrong!
WHAT I WANT TO HAPPEN: I want the white copy to become HOLES, so the GOLD background shows through.
Any solutions would be very much appreciated!

According to your description, you want to create a create a doughnut chart with multiple concentric circles in your report. Right?
In Reporting Services, we only have doughnut chart with one concentric circle. All the category group is in that concentric circle. Though we can embed javascript injection in expression, it only give the css style to values or report
items which can change the looking. It can't change the structure of the report items itself. So your requirement can't be achieved current.

so that we may try to expand the product features based on your needs.

I have a 4s, and I've had that problem, too. I've tried every method mentioned on the boards. If Ellips's suggestion didn't work, try this, and please let me know if it worked:
(I did the following while the phone was connected to my pc...if that makes a difference.)
1. On the phone, go to Music.
2. Click "More."
3. Click "Shared."
4. My phone lists "iPhone" and my iTunes Libary. Try clicking the name of your music library.
5. Wait until the circle makes its loop.
The synch still failed to complete, but all of my music was on my iPhone, again. Whew.

Troubleshooting: Help please. Creating a PDF file from a Photoshop-designed project

I wanted to add personal design elements to my resume so I decided to use Photoshop to add in a logo and a footer. The problem is, when I converted the 3 Photoshop .psd files (3 pages) to .pdf files, the combined file came out to be very big in size. The biggest was 2.88 MB and the smallest that I got it to be without compromising the quality of the text and images was 1.48 MB.
What did I do wrong?
I've seen other .pdf files with more images and more color and definitely more pages and text which were only 300KB in size. How can I make my final .pdf file size small but still retain the quality of the original design from Photoshop?
I've tried merging the layers before saving. I've tried turning the files into .gif files before making the pdf. Into jpegs before making the pdf. Changing the canvas and image sizes in Photoshop into super small which made the final pdf file unreadable and super blurry. I'm at my wit's end.
Details:
.psd image size 8.5 by 11 inches (normal resume size)
colors - black, gray, light blue and light yellow
Images are very minimal, 4 lines total and around 5 circles at the header of the first page and footer of the 3rd page.

This is so sad. I read your comments and I said, "Huh?" Haha!
I tried the indexed color option and it did make the final file smaller. Around 600KB. But there's probably another way to make it even smaller like the gazillion-paged pdf file that I mentioned that was only about 300KB.
And by saying a layout program, does that mean like Adobe InDesign? Does that mean that I should just make my graphics in Photoshop and then import using another program and finish the file there?
What other layout programs can I use?

Text in a concentric circle

I am trying to create a wheel similar to the image below except I need three segments instead of twelve. I also need a few lines of text for each segment but I'm not sure how best to insert this. I have tried using the 'Polar Grid Tool' and using the 'Type on path' tool, however I'm not able to type within one segment / arc without the text going all the way around the circle.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I may go about this? (Hope that's clear!)

The three groups ar easy once you think about it.
Back to the polar grid tool.
set it to the diameter you require.
set the radial dividers to 3 and the concentric circles to "0"
draw an ellipse the size you want the inner diameter to be
align the two using the align panel (center vertical and then centered horizontally.
select the inner circle and and the polar grid object and click on theLive paint Bucket tool to turn it into Live Paint Group
you can fill any section with any swatch you want including a fill or stroke of none.
Very easy to do this with the Live Paint group. (Notice I filled the center sections with a fill of none.)
The text is described before if you want to make the text curved and i would think you want to do this with only tree sections because of the amount of curve the sections require.
You make to concentric circles that will reflect the amount of leading between the two text lines you need ad the size you require to properly place it in
the sections.
you position those two concentric circles over the sectioned circle that you made as a live paint group.
Lock the live paint group
with the scissor tool you cut the concentric circles at the sections radial dividers
then turn them into text paths
then pair the two in each section by making them text threads Type>Thread Text>Create
Now type your text for each section. You can do this with two triangles if you want the text straight

Itunes - grey dotted circle - HELP

Hello guys, i have a problem that grey dotted circle appears next to my music in library. It is whole grey and when I sync it nothing syncs and I cant play the music on my iPhone! Help please!

same frustration here...
itunes wont sync my large (~5k songs) library to my ipad . i have gone through the sync process many times. it seems apps are properly syncing... i only have a few books and those seem fine too.. strange thing is the songs appear as if they are on the ipad.. however when i select them to play the file must be missing because it just skips the song to the next song and displays a red square surrounded by a red circle. (by the way... what's with all the apple hieroglyphics these days.. what's a dotted circle? whats a red square surrounded by a red circle?)
i recently wiped my computer hard drive and reinstalled a windows. after reinstalling itunes i copied the the itunes library files back to their rightful places and itunes seems to work fine with all my original library, playlists, etc.
when i sync to my ipad... the music doesn't transfer... lots of dotted circles...
i tried the idea of wiping all the music off the ipad (by deselecting 'sync music' in itunes). hasnt' worked... itunes thinks there is No music on the ipad... and yet all the music still 'appears' on the ipad, many of the songs don't play, yet several do play. makes no sense.
This process was a whole lot better in the past when itunes actually showed you want was happening during the sync process... now it's just a black hole of 'waiting for changes to be applied' and 'waiting for items to copy'.

Where can I find the VI "draw a circle by radius" (it's used in NI demo) ?

I work wiht LabVIEW 6.0.2 full version
And I'd like to use some "picture functions". But I didn't find those functions... So I went to NI site to find some help but it seems that some commands and functions are missing on my computer because I can't find the library "picture.llb" and the VI "draw a circle by radius" whereas with NI example it is written that no add-on is required...
