Has someone experiences modifying the FMRUSW.RES for Forms4.5
Windows?
I need to modify mapping of F10. We want, that F10 calls the Menu
like in other Windows Applications.
Which prerequisits are there in Forms, what do I have to to in
Oraterm.

There are less Forms function numbers listed in the *.res file available with 10g than in the res file of Forms 4.5.
Quite a number of key-mappings to activate certain Forms function numbers seem to be no longer available. I was therefore wondering if the list in the 10g res-file is compleet or if some overview of all Forms function numbers is available so i can extend this file myself.
p.s. i do not mean Forms build-in functions. The Forms Help does not support any information on the Forms function numbers mentioned in the res-file (for details on what these are, see the "description" in the header of the 10g res-file).

Again about fmrweb.res file in Forms 10g

Hi all!
My fmrweb.res file contains standard lines for "Function N". For example:
114 : 3 : "Shift+Ctrl+F3" : 85 : "Function 3"
But when i run my forms-application, Help-Keys window don't show these lines.
Then i write form-trigger Key-F3, run the form, press Shift+Ctrl+F3, but .. no result.
Trigger Key-F3 dont work.
What's problem? Help me, please!

I have just tested at this very moment on my 10.1.2 and the Key-F2 trigger is firing correctly when I press Ctrl+Shift+F2.
Maybe you would have a problem with your .res file. Make a copy, then use another one to test.

Rendering Lo-Res files for inspection by stock agency questions.

*Using FCE 4.* My stock photo agency is requesting videos now. I'm using a Canon 5D Mark II.
What I want to do is to render low-resolution clips for the agency inspection. They will choose from the LR clips and I will then supply HR files for submission.
I have been trying to render the lowest possible resolution files for submission and the files are ending up mostly rendered without audio. I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing but I can't seem to drink enough coffee to absorb what I'm missing from the digital manual or Tom Wolsky's book.
That would be two questions: what settings will give me the lowest possible file size for agency inspection and how do I make sure the audio is included in the rendered LR files?
I appreciate any help on this and I hope to bring my skill level up quickly over the next couple of months. Now I know how Photoshop beginners feel. I grew up with PS but video is a whole new world for me.

(I assume that the audio is enabled in your sequence)
So your sequence is an HD one.
_FOR DATA DV or HARD DRIVE ARCHIVE_, same process (altough you can keep the original 1920X1080 for hard drive way):
The simplest way is to export the sequence with the correct aspect ratio (16:9) to a smaller frame size.
1920X1080 gives a such ratio as 640X360.
To reduce your frame size to 640X320, no other choice than using "export->using quicktime conversion" in file menu.
In the Save window dialog, choose "Quicktime movie" in the local format menu. Click on Options to get access to desired settings like frame size, codec, etc.
In *Movie settings window* :
For video: click settings to open the *Standard video compression setting window* and choose the codec (here MPEG 4) in Compression local menu (there is a selector for compressor quality, maximum data rate.
Click OK to confirm the codec choice for video in *Standard video compression setting window*.
In *Movie settings window* select Size to get access to *Export size settings* window. There are some presets included but you can enter custom values here. Set frame dimension as you need, but keep in mind to choose numbers that have a 16:9 ratio like 640X320 or other one.
Desinterlace is a good option if your work with interlaced source material.
Click OK to confirm the frame size for video in *Export size settings* window.
For audio: click settings to get access to *Sound settings* window and choose the audio codec etc, Linear PCM at 48 kHz stereo give your the best audio from FCE. As you distribute on DATA DVD or hard drive, audio size is not an issue here.
Confirm the codec choice with OK key in *Sound settings* window.
Confirm the video and audio setting by clicking OK in the *Movie settings* window.
In the Save window, name the exported movie, select a destination to save and click Save.
The resulting file will a compressed one with all option selected. This movie is suitable for DATA DVD burning or Hard drive usage.
TIP: There is some compression presets included in the Save window at format local menu. iPhone or Apple TV are efficient ones.

To produce a _STANDARD DEFINITION WIDESCREEN DVD_:
Simply use the export-->quicktime movie in file menu. Select audio and video content in the Save window local menu. Check "self contained" and a destination for the movie.
To authoring the DVD, you can use iDVD:

The other way to resolve this problem is to use Quicktime player PRO, open your wide screen exported movie and set the correct *Aperture playback* option for video track in Movie properties window (use Command-J to get this window in quicktime player PRO). Save the new version of the movie once this option selected.
Drag your exported movie in a *wide screen iDVD project* and burn your project. iDVD will handle the frame size reduction and the compression for DVD usage. You don't have to choose option here.
Or
Use Roxio Toast, or Compressor if you own it (included with Final Cut Studio 2).
The resulting DVD will be a *Standard definition wide screen* one (720X480). IMO, it's not the better way to go for material screening by agency as this DVD will have to be played with DVD player application from a computer or with a DVD player hooked on a TV set.
NB: To burn a Blu-Ray DVD you can use Roxio Toast with the correct Roxio plugin, but it' difficult to get a BR DVD burner right now. You can use standard def DVD blank to get a BR of 20 minutes in lenght. Search this forum with "Toast Blu-Ray DVD keywords.

Changing oaj2se.exe binary file for form operations

Hi,
When you open the form service in R12.1.3, you encounter a page with the following message.
In order to access this application, you must install the J2SE Plugin version 1.6.0_07. To install this plugin, click here to download the oaj2se.exe executable. Once the download is complete, double-click the oaj2se.exe file to install the plugin. You will be prompted to restart your browser when the installation is complete.
If you need the newer version - let's say 1.6.0.10 - than 1.6.0.07. Then, going through click here will give still the old binary file.
For this kind of cases, it would be good if the binary file just gives the latest one when clicked to download j2se plugin.
So, here the questions come.
Q1.
Is it safe to replace the old binary file with the latest jre file from Oracle site?
Q2.
How can this be done? I mean, where is the location and is it ok just to replace the binary file?
Does anyone have any idea on this?

Populating XML file for form set

Hi there,
We have several forms that we need to fill out with the same information for each "case" we deal with. Its the usual stuff like names, dates and addresses.
At present we fill out each form one at a time - very repetitive.
I want to have a underlying xml file populate each form.
This presents a few questions:
1. We don't have a database to populate the underlying xml file. What would be a good way to have the user enter this xml data? In addition to entering the xml data it needs to be store in a different folder each time (there is a folder for each case) and
the dialog box (or whatever) needs to be able to accommodate a different number of people associated with different cases. Some might have 4 people some might only have two.
2. Then a template, which could be one big document with each form.
These goals maybe able to be done entirely within word, but I look forward to suggestions on this!

Is it possible to make an .exe file in Forms 6i

Dear Sir,
I have some doubts regarding some of the Oracle Products.
1. Is it possible to make .exe file in Oracle Forms 6i ?
2. In Oracle 7.3 / Forms 4.5/ Reports 2.5, it was necessary to install Oracle Enterprise at the server and install forms and reports runtime at the nodes. What is the case with Oracle 8i and Forms 6i and Reports 6i.
Do we need to install the runtime at the nodes.
3. If I develop a software using D2k (Forms 6i/Reports 6i) using Oracle 8i, what is required at the client's place to run it. Do they need to buy Oracle 8i as well as D2k(in full) or D2K Runtime is seperately available?

- You cannot create a single exe file for Forms. You will have to install the runtime and then deploy the application fmx files.
To deploy, you will need to install the Forms runtime on each machine which will be running forms. So if you are running client server and you have 100 client machine you would do 100 installs. Alternatively, if you are installing on the Web then you install the runtime on a server and your 100 clients only need to connect from browser.
I'm not sure how the licencing sales are worked out - your account manager would have a better idea but you don;t have to have an 8i for every client (!) - the Forms runtime and the database are separate.

Best way to export a 720p project to a 1080 file for film festival

I have a 4 year long project, in FCP7, with a 720/24 timeline. Most footage was shot 720, though some later was shot 1080... the film is complete, and now has been accepted into film festivals. (YAY!) Now I need to create a 1080/24 Pro Res file for a festival screener.
What is the BEST way to create that file?
Right now FCP 7 is chugging away in the background as I tried Export->QuickTime Movie and selected the desired codec, and checked recompress all frames and make movie self contained.
Is this the best way?
And, I need to FedEx this out tonight... :-)

No. Don't recompress...that adds a layer of compression. Simply export a QT movie...self contained, using the sequence settings. And then use Compressor to resize it to 1080.

Separate file for Menu (MFC)

Dear All
is there any possibility that i can separate res file for the menu and toolbar. and load at at run-time.
what i want to do is. i would like to create Menu and toolbar file and load menu and toolbar from it. so i can add, remove, and rename, when i add new function to my app i don't need to recompile again. and want to make multiple file for difference language.
so when i chose the language. it load the selected language.
or
i have to delete all default menu and recreate them at run-time.

for example: in text file or any other file type that load menu at run time. but need easy to edit. so when i add new function to app. i just add menu name in that file and it display on next time app start.
the option i have that i can to create menu at run time reading that menu file. i am bit of confuse here, if user change menu customization from the app. it will save to registry. but each time app run it read from file and create new. so no use of save.
and user will not get what he has customized.
so that, there may be any option in the mfc or vc++ feature that i don't know. so i post this.

You don't have to use the satellite DLL as a localized resource. You can use it for anything you like.
I do not think I have understood what you are wanting to do, but if you just need to add or remove menu items at run time it is easy enough to do in code, and you could store the required configuration information anywhere you want.

LR 5 exporting low res files

Hi
My LR5 is exporting low res files for some weird reason. I figure it has to do with the fact that I recently started using the smart preview function. What made me almost 100% certain is has to do with this is the fact that I removed the hard drive that the files were linked to in LR, and then I was still able to export files. Now that in my mind shouldn't be as that file would be based on the smart preview created.
With all that said....any ideas on how to get around this?

The export feature is available when using smart previews. Sometimes users want to export images to post on the web or to give to clients for evaluation. You simply have to be aware of what you are doing.

Virtual Mappings For Forms 11

I am working with forms 11g and I need to create the virtual mapping for physical folder c:\temp on FMW server (Windows 32 bit)
e.g. http://<host>:<port>/forms/temp
I followed all steps explained in the Oracle Support document ID 981095.1 and in Oracle Documentation but the mapping does not work
I have added the following lines to:
Weblogic.xml located in $DOMAIN_HOME/servers/WLS_FORMS/tmp/_WL_user/formsapp_11.1.1/<random_string>/war/WEB-INF

But in the weblogic.xml on my server I didn't find any mapping for /forms/Java . There are no mappings at all
So where it could be defined?

(urgent) web cache for forms 10g

We have application running on oracle 10g Aps resently migrated and we got couple of freequently used forms by default my webcache is on but i dont know how can i specifialy say that thease forms to be cached like if i see my webcache page i could see some of the gifs had cached but no specific forms how can i do this.
I shall be highly be obliged if one can clear my queries in the forum may wish to add to 2cents to my infinetly minimal knowledge of webcache.

Not really true. You could setup a rule to cache the JAR files for Forms. Additionally, you could cache the GIF files accessed by the applet, though it would be better to move those image files into a JAR file. Why?...
If you use a static HTML file to call your forms, that would be cached by default.
Because the client JVM caches the files. You can view this in the Java Console of JInitiator or your Java Plug-in. Additionally, you can see when the image files are served from the JAR files by looking in the Java Console as well. Change to level 5 trace in the Java Console window and look for GIF files with a path that includes http://server/forms/jave/filename.jar!/filename.gif. Notice the ! symbol. That shows a client JAR cache hit for that GIF file. Served locally, doesn't even make it to Web Cache!
The rest of the communication really isn't cacheable. Communication goes from the Applet (Client JVM) through Web Cache to the HTTP Server to the OC4J_BI_Forms container (OC4J JVM) that runs the Forms listener servlet which talks directly with the Forms Server runtime process running as a Unix process (C, not Java).
So, the only communication that goes between the applet and the Appliction Server is just the messages between the applet and Forms Server process telling the applet how to refresh the display on the client's applet screen and telling the Forms Server process what to do with the data and code being run. This communication is optimized by using message diffs, so it is relatively efficient. But an application not optimized for the web might use chatty functionality that slows things down a bit.
Anyway, xhomet is essentially right in that Web Cache doesn't do much of any significance besides load balancing. Caching JAR files might make sense for you though if you have a lot of users all getting this JAR or an updated JAR at the same time.

Hope you would find the below information useful...
1. From SAP Easy Access menu, choose Human Resources -> Payroll -> Asia/Pacific -> India -> Subsequent Activities -> Annual -> Legal Reports -> Income Tax -> Form24.
The Print Program for Form 24 screen appears.
2. Enter the relevant selection criteria.
3. Enter the Company Code.
4. Enter the User Parameters.
5. Choose Program Execute.
The system lists down the Deductee wise details of TDS for each employee in the different payroll periods. You can select the appropriate options on the Application tool bar to display the following lists:
Salary and Income Tax Details of each employee for the last quarter or for the financial year. You can select the appropriate options on the Application tool bar to display the Deductee wise details of TDS or Perquisite Detailsfrom this screen.
Perquisite Details of each employee for the last quarter or for the financial year. You can select the appropriate options on the Application tool bar to display the Deductee wise details of TDS or Salary and Income Tax Details from this screen.
You can total the different sub components of salary or tax to enter the challan details. You can download the lists mentioned above in the form of worksheets by selecting the Spreadsheet option from the Application tool bar.
6. Choose Challan Details option. Enter the details of the tax paid You can use the details displayed on the screen. The details that you enter are printed on Form 24 and Form 24Q.
7. Save the Challan Details.
8. To print a copy of Form 27A, choose Print Form 27A.
9. To download the electronic copy of Form 24 or Form 24Q, and the Annexure in the form of a text file, choose Download e-File for Form 24. On the selection screen, if you have entered:
Annual (blank) as the Quarter, the system downloads Form 24
One of the quarters (1 - 4) as the Quarter, the system downloads Form 24Q

SampleValidateData.js OR ValidateData.js script files for Hyperion forms

Hi All.
We're running Hyperion EPM 11.1.1.2 and I want to create some custom javascript functions for a Planning data form. I want to work within SampleValidateData.js or ValidateData.js but I can't find either of these files.
We're running Tomcat and 11.1.1.2 EPM Planning.

It's possible the Planning webapp is deployed remotely. Check the tomcat server.xml file for a context tag that references HyperionPlaning. There you can find out where the HyperionPlanning directory that has custom under it is located.
It's also possible that planning is running directly from an unpacked war. In which case you will need to change the unpackWARs setting to true in server.xml in order to readily work with the validation javascript.

Field on the EFW2 file for the Federal w-2's, 941-ss box on the W-3SS form

HI,
This is regarding the layout of the file W-3SS with the check box on the top showing 941-SS. When we did the W-2's and W-3 for the Virgin Islands employee's manually, this wouldn't be a problem. But since 2006 when we filed the MMREF electronically, we are looking for the field which would do the same think as checking this 941-ss box on the W-3SS form.
Is there anything on SAP which tells us what field to populate for 941-SS
Basically we need to populate the field on the EFW2 file for the Federal w-2's which will indicate to the Government that this file corresponds to 941-SS, which previously we would have checked that box on the manual W-3.
Please help me with this as this is very imp......

Hi Ervin,
Check in SE71 form <b>HR_F_W2_AUDIT</b> for the value in box 12 for benefits. You will see that this value comes from various any Tax groups like T184 to T195. There are also other groups, please check that also.
I checked for one empployee, the value displayed was "D Deferals to 401K" in box 12b which is tax field T027 & tax form group W23D in form HR_F_W2. When you check the WT assigned to this group I see 3070(Catch Up Contribution) & 3100(401K EE Pre Tax).
Similarly you can check for one employee & check the value for box 12b. You should get it.
So what I think is we are checking correct configuration for the WT attached to that tax form group. Only thing is that we need to check the correct Tax form field.
What exactly you want to change? I think before changing check some SAP notes for the change.
