  • Need to turn off iCloud to reset passcode

Please help. my son put a passcode afte the last update and it includes I can't reset passcode due to that I have to turn off find my phone on my ipad.  I have read lots of stuff but its not working.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
iOS 7 included a feature that makes you turn off Find my iPad with your Apple ID password. Open Settings > iCloud, and turn off Find my iPad. Then, type your Apple ID password (or your son's Apple ID password). If you don't remember it, change this password > http://iforgot.apple.com
Then, go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings, and set up the iPad again. This should be done only if you don't know the passcode

how do I reset passcode when Ipad is disabled

Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • Reset lock in exchange profile

What does this do when we reset lock in exchange profle.
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
    > What does this do when we reset lock in exchange profle.
    >
This is my understanding "The system table SYSINFO.LOCKSTATISTICSRESET describes the degree to which lock management is being utilized and the number of special events that have occurred during lock management since the last RESET LOCKSTATISTICS or RESET ALL"
to understand about lock concept you should have some fair understanding about Data base locks, even SAP also more quilent same locking mechanism in SAP PI.
When we reset lock in exchange profile, the value for all objects will be reseted in lockstatic table.

  • Having to reset iPhone for Exchange email to work

I've been experiencing lag on email notifications and email delivery from the exchange server at work. Other fellow workers use blackberries and don't have this issue. The delay can range from a few minutes to more than an hour, sometimes the email is there but the audio notification never come thru. Enabling or disabling the wifi does not help, only when I reset (restart) the iPhone all emails come thru including the audio notifications. I'm to the point where I have to reset my iphone once or twice a day to receive emails. Has anyone experienced this? and is there a fix for it?
    Thanks!

I have the same issue and it's happened about three or four times in that many weeks. It just happened twice yesterday (hope the frequency is not increasing). And I'm not sure if it's tied to restarts or some other event. One time I think I'd just used the Dashboard Mouse Key 3 shortcut and within a few minutes later it wasn't working. Can't remember what happened in between, but I don't think there was a reboot...
Hope someone has a solution soon... Or maybe your bug report to Apple turns something up...

  • How to reset logs on Exchange 2010 after Event 518 stops backups from completing?

I'm only able to find references to resetting logs Exchange 2000 and 2003.  I'm looking for info for Exchange 2010.
There appears to be some kind of corrupt logs issue with one of our mailbox databases.  The corrupt logs cause the full backup to fail and because the full backup fails, the logs just get worse and keep growing.
The server has event ID 518 that says a log is  "is missing (error -528) and cannot be used. If this log file is required for recovery, a good copy of the log file will be needed for recovery to complete successfully. "
How do e get past this and stop the backup job from trying to look for this log file and start over?  I know that a full backup is supposed to clear the logs, but it will not happen because the backup never completes due to this log error.

    its still same for 2010
Stop all the databases in the storage group.
Verify the state of each database file in the particular storage group. For information about how to verify the state of each database file, see the "Database states" section.
Perform one of the following actions:
If one or more of the databases are in a Dirty Shutdown or Inconsistent state, determine which transaction log files can be removed without affecting database consistency.
For more information, see the "Log files" section.
If all the databases are in a Clean Shutdown or Consistent state, you may remove all the transaction log files except for the current transaction log file. Removing the
current log file when all databases are in a Clean Shutdown state will cause a reset of the log file sequence. This does not prevent databases from starting. However, a reset of the log file sequence affects the ability to roll a
database forward from a previous backup if the situation occurs.
Copy all the transaction log files that you want to remove to a different location before you permanently remove them from the transaction log hard disk. Do not permanently delete the transaction log files until you have
successfully completed a full online backup of all the databases in the storage group.

First click on Back Up Now under Manually Back Up and Restore.  This will create a new backup in iTunes.  When this finishes, go to the File menu at the top and choose Devices>Transfer Purshases.  This will transfer all your purchased apps and other media to your iTunes library.  When this finishes, sync your phone.  Now go back to the Summary tab and click Restore.  This will restore your phone, removing the passcode.  At the end of the process your phone will restart and reappear in iTunes.  You will then be given the option to either set it up as a New iPhone or to Restore from Backup.  Choose Restore from Backup, selecting the backup you made earlier to restore to.  After restoring the backup your phone will restart again and reappear in iTunes again.  It will then sync back your purchased iTunes media from your iTunes library (which is why you transferred everyting to your library earlier).  At the end it will tell you you don't have a passcode set on the phone and ask you if you want to set one.  Be sure to remember it if you do!

  • Restoring Ipad on Itunes to reset passcode

I use a security token to access my emails on exchange. When I tried to set this up for the first time, I thought it was asking for my token code (which changes every time I use it), but I unknowingly set up an apparently mandatory passcode when using email exchange. I now can't access our ipad because I can't remember what the code was I entered.
I backed up the ipad 5 days ago on our Mac through Itunes. If I restore the Ipad on my Itunes again, I want to double check that I be able to access what I had on my ipad from 5 days ago, or will I lose everything?
    Thanks

I now can't access our ipad because I can't remember what the code was I entered.
If you can't remember the Passcode, you need to restore the device from the computer it was last synced with.
Follow the instructions for putting the device in recovery mode >  iPad: Unable to update or restore

  • IPhone Passcode with Exchange

We are using Exchange 2003 with certificate based authentication. We configure the iPhones and iPads using the Apple configuration utility. Everything is working very well, but I am having an issue understanding the settings on the passcode. I do understand that some settings are no longer available when syncing to Exchange and deploying via a profile. I do understand the difference between Auto Lock and Require Passcode after xx minutes. What I am having trouble with is how they work with Exchange. We do not have the Exchange sever configured to enforce password on device and have the inactivity time set. We use the settings of the mobile config file to set these.
When we configure the iPhone profiles we set the Auto Lock to 1 minute and the Require Passcode after 15 minutes. Things gives a windows of 16 minutes total before entering a passcode correct?
When the config profile gets installed, the Require Passcode always gets set to Immediately. Why? If I configure the profile to Require Passcode after 1 Hour, then the 1 hour setting does not get set on the phone but the 15 minute setting does. What am I missing here? The Auto Lock always gets set correctly.
Finally, does anyone know the maximum inactivity in minutes that can be set on the Exchange server if configured to enforce password on device for Exchange 2003 and how does that play against the iPhone even when deploying the profile? I have read that the maximum inactivity on the Exchange server actually matches the Auto Lock feature on the iPhone. How does this affect the Require Passcode setting on the iPhone and how do the 2 work together when using Exchange?
    Any help is appreciated.

Just a quick comment on this section:
"When the config profile gets installed, the Require Passcode always gets set to Immediately. Why? If I configure the profile to Require Passcode after 1 Hour, then the 1 hour setting does not get set on the phone but the 15 minute setting does. What am I missing here? I've set up a number of devices and have seen the same behavior as far as the require passcode timeout shift back to "immediately" even if the maximum allowed password is some value greater than that.  Not sure
why that is, but we've made it a part of our setup documentation  to manually shift the timeout back to the maximum allowed value before deploying the phone to users. We've used Exchange server 2007 policies to set the passcode timeout, though we use IPCU to setup connections to our Exchange server and to require encrypted iTunes backups.  I know that applying the Exchange server policy ( at least 2007) limits the set of choices for passcode lock timeout.  It seems like out of the box, the maximum value is 4 hours.  After applying the policy, the set of available options changes so that the maximum value which is available is the highest pre-policy value which is strictly lower than the policy requirement.  ( Hope I stated that correctly )
