Resize dialog keeps auto opening everytime I open a file

So we just got rid of one of our designers and the computer I got him was a tad better then the workstation I am using. Over the weekend I decided to give my machine to my boss who has a ancient slow PC, and take the newer faster box for myself.
All went well, but I am encountering 1 thing that I can't make go away.
Everytime I open I file in Photoshop (cs3), .psd, .jpg... whatever the file type it opens the file then opens the re-size mage dialog box and tries and prompts me to re-size the newly opened file.
I have been up and down the preferences and plug-ins and I can't find whatever this guy did to cause this behavior and undo it.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can stop this from continuing? It isn't stopping me from doing my work but after half a day of working I am throughly annoyed with it.
Thanks for any insight.

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
It will do what checking preferences inside PS will not clear.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Numbers keeps auto-opening a file

For some reason, Numbers 3.0.1 keeps on trying to open an Excel file from an email (and since there are unsupported features, we get the bouncing icon on the dock). Any ideas why Numbers keeps on trying to open the file even though we have closed it multiple times?

Answering my own question with a work-around....
I saved the file off to the desktop and allowed Numbers to update it to the latest version.  I then closed the file window.  I could then delete the file and Numbers stops trying to open a file that no longer exists.

  • [Solved] Auto-open a file manager after mounting with udev rules

    Hellooooo,
I followed the udev Wiki for auto mounting USBs and it now works great.
The only problem is: how can I automatically open a file manager of the mounted directory? I tried putting this at the end of the "ACTION=="add"," section in "/etc/udev/rules.d/11-media-by-label-auto-mount.rules" but for some reason nothing happens:
    , RUN+="/usr/bin/dolphin /media/%E{dir_name}"
Even if I just try to open dolphin with the "ACTION=="add"," section nothing happens either way.
So what am I doing wrong?

In that case, the best choice in my opinion is to use Automounting UDisks Wrappers :
devmon is a script developed by IgnorantGuru. He left Arch Linux, but the package in AUR is still there and is the last version. For a future new release, it should be available at his blog site. The script is distro independent.
My udisksvm script, in its default state, doesn't launch a file manager after automounting, but it is not a big thing to let the automounting be done and then manually open a file manager (a new entry in the traydevice right-click menu can also be added for that).
If you can do without automounting, there is also the bashmount script from jnguyen.
All these scripts don't require writing any udev rules, they use udisks instead.
I hope you could find something you like and which will suit your wishes.

  • The inspector keeps auto opening and closing. It's making it near impossible to use firefox.

I simply cannot get the inspector to stop opening. I've tried some steps listed through other support posts regarding disabling the inspector and firebug, but neither of those worked. I'm writing this up in chrome at the moment. The only way I can stop it from doing what it's doing is by holding either Shift, Control, or Alt. I've checked to see if these keys were stuck or somehow going off on their own, but they aren't. I've even restarted my computer and this is still happening. Any help would be appreciated.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • MS Word  - Auto-Opening downloaded files

I teach an online class and students submit MS Word attachments. Up until now, I have been able to click on the attachment link and the file opens up in MS Word (I have been using Office 2008). Just recently, when I click on the attachment link, it will open up MS Word, but not the file. I have to go find it in the download folder. I would like to remove this extra search step. Any idea where I can change that preference?

    HI Swim,
As for assigning file downloads... if you are using Safari, launch Safari then click Safari/Preferences in the Menu. When the Preferences window appears, click the General tab at the top. About half way down it says: Save downloaded files to: Click the pop up menu and choose the option that works best for you. The Desktop is usually the quickest way to find a recently downloaded file.
As for MS Word. If you keep the MS Word icon in the Dock, just drag the file you downloaded to the MS Word icon and it should launch MS Word for you and the specified file.
*******Changing the application that opens a document*********
You can select a specific application to open a document. You may want to do this if you prefer using a certain application or if you don't have the application that was used to create the document.
Select the document in the Finder and choose File > Get Info.
Click "Open with" in the Info window.
Choose an application from the pop-up menu or choose Other to locate a different application.
To use the application you chose to open all similar documents (the same type as the current document and created by the same application), click Change All.

  • How to diable auto open downloaded files?

currently using firefox 21.0 i believe
    thanks in advance

Hmmmm......Well, I don't think its Firefox. What kind of files
does this happen? All files, EXE files, music, video, updates?
What directory are you downloading to? Do you have the same
problem with other web browsers? If you haven't used another
browser, try it with one of the web sites that you have the problem.
Speaking of that, is it all web sites, some sites, a few sites?
Are you using the Firefox downloader or another. Some web
sites use there own download software.

  • How do stop PREVIEW from auto-opening images?

I'm scanning all my old slides. And every time I finish a scan, Preview automatically opens the pic.
I have Preview as my jpg default, which I would like to keep (not Photoshop, etc).
But I'd like Preview to NOT auto-open these files once they're created.
    Any ideas?

Not sure what printer or scanning software you are using, but if you open and use Image Capture in your App Folder you can direct the Scan To: any number of Folders, Apps or Desktop.

  • Import Dialog will not auto open - Lightroom 4.1

Since I upgraded to Lightroom 4.1 from 3 the Import Dialog screen will not auto open when I insert a memory Cart to my Imac.
I have the correct box ticked in the preferences.

I have performed all of the above and I still can't get Lightroom 4.2 to open to the Import screen when inserting a memory card. If LR is already open and then a card is inserted...yes the Import screen opens. If LR is 'Quit' (closed) and a card is then connected Lightroom opens to the Library, but not the Import screen. I have also tried to delete the preferences files and restart, but I'm unsuccessful with multiple tries there too.Running a Macbook Pro 10.6.8. Lightroom 4 opens as desired—connect card via card reader, LR launches and opens to the Import screen—on my iMac 10.7.4.

  • How to delete items from the list of "auto-open" tabs that load whenever FF4 opens?

When I recently downloaded FF4, I was asked if I'd like to have FF automatically open the same tabs as were set in my IE. Great! Worked perfectly until I set those tabs as App Tabs. Now both the App Tabs and the original IE set of tabs open whenever I open FF -- essentially each tab loads twice -- as app tab and large tab. How can I delete tabs from the list of "auto-open" tabs? In addition, for some reason, every time I try to set my home page, it's not working -- I keep getting the same home page regardless of how many times I have tried to set a new one.

You can close a tab with a middle-click or with a left click on the close X on the tab or via the right-click context menu of that tab.<br />
Do those tabs come back if you close then and lose Firefox?

  • How can I get the "Open" and "Save As" dialog boxes to open at larger than their default size?

How can I get the "Open" and "Save As" dialog boxes to open at larger than their default size?  I would like them to open at the size they were previously resized like they used to in previous operating systems.  They currently open at a very small size and the first colum is only a few letters wide necessitating a resize practically every time one wants to use it.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • How do I keep forms opened on the web  - if they close themselves at times

How do I keep forms opened on the web  - if they close themselves??

    Hi,
When you have completed design your form on design tab, you may open form to filling out and submit. At this time, if you don’t change your form, it will keep the open state. if you change or edit your form, it will showing a warning dialog to let you know form will be changed to closed, and remind you to open it again.
    Thanks,

  • Auto-open different forms selectively

I want to be able to open Form1 when I open my Access application manually (double-clicking it) but Form2 instead when opening it from a scheduled task (to auto-run/schedule a process on Form2 that I also want to be able to run manually after navigating
    there from Form1).
When I run Form2 via a button click on Form1, I pass OpenArgs "Manual". The code in Form2 runs automatically if Nz(OpenArgs,"Manual") = "Automatic"; that is , it runs automatically only if OpenArgs tells it to. So far, so good.
Auto-starting Form2 was also easy. I could not just open Form2 directly from a macro because (at least as far as I can tell) there is no OpenArgs option for OpenForm in a macro; however, I just created a macro that uses RunCode to run a function that opens
Form2, passing OpenArgs "Automatic". Then I just pass the macro's name with the /x MacroName command-line argument when opening the application. Again, so far so good.
Except for one thing: the only way I know (besides VBA or a macro) to auto-open a form is to set that as the default form in the current DB options. But then Form1 opens regardless of whether I open the application by double-clicking it or by using the shortcut
that includes the /x MacroName argument. This means that when auto-running the application, Form1 opens as well as Form2. No, it does not hurt anything, but I am trying to keep this as clean as possible.
I tried cancelling Form1's Form_Open event based on the value of a variable set in my auto-run function, but that did nothing to close Form1, so I infer that the default object/event priority in Access causes the form to open, and therefore its Form_Open
event to fire, before the macro calls the function that opens Form2. So now my aforementioned function sets the value of public Boolean variable AutoRun to True before opening Form2, and I check that value on Form1's timer, then close it if AutoRun = True.
And yes, I know I could create another shortcut that opens a different macro, or I could set Form1 to be invisible unless AutoRun = False. But the timer event and those all seem like workarounds. I would like to be just a bit more definite about this and
have Form1 check one time upon opening, or even some way to prevent it opening if the application is opened via my scheduler. That is, it would be great if I could embed a command in my function to tell Form1 not to open even though it is the normal default
    form.
"Can't be done" or "you're stuck with what you already tried" are OK answers (if true). This is not critical; it just piqued my curiosity on how I might accomplish this.

    Brian,
Command(), a built-in function, is available in VBA modules but cannot be called directly in the Access user interface (for example, a macro or text box control source). As a workaround, you can wrap Command() with a user-defined function created in a standard
    module:
    Public Function CmdLineArg() As String
        CmdLineArg = Command
    End Function
and then call it in the user interface like this:
=CmdLineArg()  [the equals sign is required in some contexts]
The value of Command() remains in memory until the application is closed.  You can view or modify its value in the Access 2013 user interface by navigating to:
    File tab > Options > Client Settings > Advanced > Command-line arguments:
    or with these VBA methods:
    Application.SetOption "Command-Line Arguments", "SomeText"
    Application.GetOption("Command-Line Arguments")
Calling Command() directly where necessary would simplify code development and maintenance.
