Restore database in the same server but with other sid (name)
i try to restore the database in the same server but with other sid (name) . The backup is on tape and
I want to know the steps I should follow.
thank.
To perform restore of database in same host to choose another DB name you can go for
1) duplicate using RMAN.
Directory structure should be different so take care of db_file_name_convert & log_file_name_convert parameters
Also check the Tns services exactly is it pointing to target & auxiliary

Hello Bigstorr,
It sounds like you are not able to send emails from your iPad. I found a couple of resources that address issues with email on the iPad:

Installation of EBS 12.1 and Database on the same server
Hi,
Due to resource crunch, I would like to do new installation of EBS 12.1 and Database on the same server where already EBS 12.1 and Database installed.
I have one server where EBS 12.1 and Database installed (Single node installation).
Now I want to create another environment for other purpose (another test env.). But I don't have another server .
So Can I start new installation of EBS 12.1 and database on the same server ?
I have enough space and memory on server.
Are the installtion conflict with each other ? any implications happen on the first environment ?
I want my first environment run fine without any prob., after installing EBS and DB on the same server.
Please guide me.
Regards,
Sanjay PatelSo Can I start new installation of EBS 12.1 and database on the same server ?
I have enough space and memory on server.Yes you can as long as you have sufficient resources.
Are the installtion conflict with each other ? any implications happen on the first environment ? If you install in different ORACLE_HOMEs you should be OK.
Thanks,

I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN .
HI All,
I have a Problem with Romming Between SSIDs withing the same WLC but with deferent VLAN . the WLC are providing the HQ and one of the Branches the Wireless services .
Am using all the available 9 SSIDs at the HQ , and am using only 4 of it at the Brnche.
The problem that i have are happening only at the Branch office as i cant room between the SSIDs within Diferent VLANs but i can do it with the one that pointing to the same VLAN. Once the client ( Laptop/Phone ) connected to one of the SSIDs. it imposiible to have him connected to the other ones with Different VLAN. meanwhile, It says its connected to the other SSID but its not getting IP from that pool.
here is the Show Run-Config from my WLC .. and the Problem happening between the SSID AMOBILE and ASTAFF. i have the Debug while am switching between the SSIDs if needed .

In this mode, the clients are still remembers on the WLC until the session timer/idle timer expires. So switching between SSID's in h-reap will not be the same when switching when the AP's are in local mode.
Take a look at the client when connected in FlexConnect in the WLC GUI monitor tab. Thus will show you what ssid and vlan the client is on. Now switch to a different ssid and compare this. It's probably the same because the client has not timed out. Now go back to the other ssid and look again. Now on the WLC, remove or delete the client and then switch to the other ssid at the same time. Or switch SSID's and then remove the client. The client will join the new ssid and in the monitor tab, you should see the info.
There is no need to have clients have multiple SSID's unless your testing. Devices should only have one ssid profile configured to eliminate any connectivity issues from the device wanting to switch SSID's.

Can you add to the Lightroom an ability to process several raw files with the same content but with different exposure into the single picture?
Base raw files can be given with exposure bracketing during shooting, for example.
The goal - to get maximum details in darks and lights (if we use the "ligths recovery" or "fill lights" we lose the quality because raw file just have no all required information).
The similar (but not the same, only the idea) thing - is High Dynamic Range Photography in Adobe Photoshop
Thank youThe plugin LR/Enfuse does this already. And of course Photomatix have a plugin available for Lightroom. This essentially amounts to pixel editing, which is beyond the range of Lightroom's metadata editing.

I cannot open numbers. When I double click on the icon it says "Numbers cannot be opened while it is being updated." The same is happening with other programs. I recently upgraded to Mavericks
Well, I figured itout.
Apparently the Numbers (and Pages) app downloads was stopped and \never re\started.. possibly because of something I did, like turn off my machine during them.
I went to Apple > App Store > Purchases. I discovered all three iWorks apps were listed but showed "Resume" as the status button at the right. I clicked on each to get them started again... and they eventually automatically became "Installed".
They work, now! -
Rman duplication of database to the same server and same disk group
Hi,
We have multiple databases - rmsprd1 and oidprd1 on asm disk groups - ASMDG_DAT01 and ASMDG_FRA01 on a server.
Both these databases are single instance asm based databases.
I am trying to do a rman duplication from rmsprd1 to rmsprd2 in the same server. I intend to use the same asm disk groups - ASMDG_DAT01 and ASMDG_FRA01.
Is this possible ?
Currently I have the following structure
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD1/DATAFILE
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD1/CHANGETRACKING/
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD1/CONTROLFILE/
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD1/DATAFILE/
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD1/ONLINELOG/
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD1/PARAMETERFILE/
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD1/TEMPFILE/
+ASMDG_FRA01/RMSPRD1/AUTOBACKUP/
+ASMDG_FRA01/RMSPRD1/BACKUPSET/
+ASMDG_FRA01/RMSPRD1/CONTROLFILE/
+ASMDG_FRA01/RMSPRD1/DATAFILE/
+ASMDG_FRA01/RMSPRD1/ONLINELOG/
Will I be able to create something like
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD2/DATAFILE
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD2/CHANGETRACKING/
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD2/CONTROLFILE/
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD2/DATAFILE/
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD2/ONLINELOG/
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD2/PARAMETERFILE/
+ASMDG_DAT01/RMSPRD2/TEMPFILE/
+ASMDG_FRA01/RMSPRD2/AUTOBACKUP/
+ASMDG_FRA01/RMSPRD2/BACKUPSET/
+ASMDG_FRA01/RMSPRD2/CONTROLFILE/
+ASMDG_FRA01/RMSPRD2/DATAFILE/
+ASMDG_FRA01/RMSPRD2/ONLINELOG/
I know that I can create a different asm disk group for the rman duplication but this is proving to be a hassle.
Thanks
SandeepHi,
I have found the answer working with Oracle via a service request. Admittedly there was no direct oracle documentation for doing this and hence documenting the steps here.
No legalities, formalities involved please.
Here are the steps - rmsprd1 is the source, rmsprd2 is the target, +ASM is the asm instance supporting both rmsprd1 and rmsprd2. The intention is to put both the source and destination in the same server. The backupset backup in location /dbaadm/sandeep_rman_refresh will be used for the duplication.
1) Take rman backupset backup of the source database - rmsprd1
rman_take_backup.ksh ( Take backup of source - rmsprd1 using rman ). The contents of the rman_take_backup.sh script are given below :
rm /dbaadm/sandeep_rman_refresh/*
export NLS_DATE_FORMAT='YYYY-MM-DD:HH24:MI:SS'
rman target / <<EOF
run
allocate channel d1 device type disk format '/dbaadm/sandeep_rman_refresh/%U';
allocate channel d2 device type disk format '/dbaadm/sandeep_rman_refresh/%U';
allocate channel d3 device type disk format '/dbaadm/sandeep_rman_refresh/%U';
allocate channel d4 device type disk format '/dbaadm/sandeep_rman_refresh/%U';
allocate channel d5 device type disk format '/dbaadm/sandeep_rman_refresh/%U';
allocate channel d6 device type disk format '/dbaadm/sandeep_rman_refresh/%U';
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '/dbaadm/sandeep_rman_refresh/%F';
backup as backupset database plus archivelog tag 'clonebackupset';
EOF
2) Make the directories for destination database ( rmsprd2 )
/opt/oracle/admin> mkdir -p rmsprd2/adump rmsprd2/dpdump rmsprd2/pfile rmsprd2/scripts
3) Create pfile from rmsprd1 spfile. copy/rename the pfile to make a pfile for rmsprd2.
4) Edit listener.ora in ASM ORACLE_HOME and edit tnsnames.ora in DB ORACLE_HOME
listener.ora

5) Build a passwordfile ( I just copied and renamed it )
6) Edit /etc/oratab to add database entry for rmsprd2
7) Set the environment for rmsprd2
. oraenv
rmsprd2
8) Startup nomount of rmsprd2
sqlplus / as sysdba
startup nomount pfile=/opt/oracle/admin/rmsprd2/pfile/initrmsprd2.ora
9) Create spfile from pfile='/opt/oracle/admin/rmsprd2/pfile/initrmsprd2.ora';
10) shutdown and startup rmsprd2 with spfile

ORACLE instance shut down.
SQL> startup nomount;
ORACLE instance started.

11) We are now ready for duplication from rmsprd1 ( source ) to rmsprd2 ( destination ) both using +ASM standalone asm instance. set the environment to rmsprd1and fire away.
Please note that the duplicate script is only connecting to auxilary database ( rmsprd2 ) and using the backup location for the duplication.
I used a unix shell script -rman_duplicate_from_backup.ksh. The contents are given below :
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman auxiliary sys/prd123@rmsprd2 log=rman_duplicate_from_backup.log << EOF
run
allocate auxiliary channel d1 device type disk;
allocate auxiliary channel d2 device type disk;
allocate auxiliary channel d3 device type disk;
allocate auxiliary channel d4 device type disk;
allocate auxiliary channel d5 device type disk;
allocate auxiliary channel d6 device type disk;
DUPLICATE DATABASE TO rmsprd2
BACKUP LOCATION '/dbaadm/sandeep_rman_refresh';
EOF
12) Voila - the rmsprd1 to rmsprd2 is done.....
Hope this helps somebody else wanting to do the same excercize. Have Fun.....

Application and Database on the same server
I have a Java Application and a db2 database(SWDTEST) that reside on the same server. In the Application I want to connect to the database. What would I use to do this? When the application resides on a client machine I use the "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver" driver and can get a connection. Code looks like:
try{
//load the driver class
Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
//Define the data source for the driver
String wdURL = "jdbc:odbc:SWDTEST";
String username = "UNTEST";
String password = "PTEST";
wdConnection = DriverManager.getConnection(wdURL, username, password);
wdStatement = wdConnection.createStatement();
catch(SQLException e)
System.out.println( e.toString() );
But when I move the same application to the server and run it I get the following error message:
java.sql.SQLException: [IBM][CLI Driver] SQL1013N The database alias name or database name "SWDTEST" could not be found. SQLSTATE=42705
Do I need to set something on the server so that SWDTEST is a recognized database name or connect to it some other way?
Thanks in advance.Does the server have ODBC installed on it? (Windows boxes will, unix will likely not.)
Do you have a ODBC driver installed on the the server. This has nothing to do with java.
Have you created a DSN on the server? -
I recently set up a new iTunes account for my son by giving him his own Apple ID & own login on the Mac we own.
In addition I have an existing iTunes account with a different Apple ID & different login on the same Mac.
We would like to share some purchases but do not know how to copy or import certain files. The summary is two
different apple ID's, different iTunes libraries, on the same computer, but different parts of the hard drive.
Please advise. Thanks.Load the library which doesn't contain the songs and drag them into the open iTunes application window. If you need to move them between different computer user accounts, put them into /Users/Shared/.

How can I access a response file on the same computer but with different login?
When trying to access a response file on the same computer that was used to set it up, but with a different login, I get an error message that the network resource was not found. How can I retrieve the responses on the same computer but under a different login/username?
The response file is associated with a specific login (as determined under Edit > Preferences > Identity) so you cannot retrieve it if you're using a different login.

Moving the database in the same server
Your replay:-
for WIN NT: take a look at note 61747.1 Moving a 7.3 or 8.x database. And take a look at Note:99275.1, UNIX/NT: Moving a Database Within the Same Machine.
Clarification: Where can i get the help for Note:61747.1 & 99275.1Sorry Sridhar.
Take a look in MetaLink (www.metalink.com) and use the note ids to look up the information.

How to configure one Listener for 2 databases on the same server
Hello all,
Please, I am stuck as with my application server which requests the port 1521. I want to configure the repository to make use of the port 1521 which is also shared by another database on the server.
Regards,
NadineMaybe it is worth mentioning here that am installing it with two different users as to have two ORACLE_HOME independent of each other.
Below are the configuration files for the Listener.

Two ODSs share the same InfoSource but with different updata mode load?
We've got two different ODSs (ODS1 and ODS2) for two respective clients (client 1 and client 2). Client 1 has already going alive and in the InfoPackage, we only pick up ODS1 (Client 1) as feeding target and we have conducted initial load and several times of Delta loads for ODS1 (data load daily). But now we are going to start to load data to ODS2 (Client 2) and at the same time we will have to continue our delta load to ODS1.
It could not be possible that the two ODSs will be feeded data with different pace (ODS1: continue delta load, ODS2: initial load) if they share the same InfoSource. Then what's the best way to resolve this issue?
Thankshi Pradip,
Tell you a bad news that the solution doesn't work on two of the EBP (a source system which is similar to R3, we've got 4 EBP ODS/InfoSources, but two of the four don't work with the last step listed below) ODSs/InfoSources. The steps I took on production are:
1. Conduct Full Repair data load to ODS2;
2. Delete init option of ODS1 from Scheduler menu;
3. Run Init without data transfer to set delta pointer for both ODS1 and ODS2.
But the last step to run Init without data transfer has taken 1 whole day and eventually becomes red since it takes so long time to set delta pointer.
When I said our solution worked is that I conducted the test on our GL ODS and the Init without data transfer took about 1 hour to finish.
Also when we conduct the last step to do the Init without data transfer to click Start button to set pointer, a msg box titled "Activate ODS Data" pops up saying that "No requests have been selected for activation. Do you want to make a selection, or activate all the requests?" with buttons "Activate all requests", "Select requests" and "Cancel". If clicking the button "Select requests", another msg box pops up to prompt to input a Date range, we didn't input any date range, just click continue, then the Init without data transfer will run forever!
Thank

Several layered effects of the same kind but with different adjustments for the same layer
Hi,
I wonder if it there is an easy way to have several different instances of e.g. glow or bevel and emboss on the same layer.
I know I can achieve this by using smart objects or a duplicate layer with zero blending.
I just wondered if there is a way to do this directly in the layer effects.Hi emil emil,
thx for your answer!
I wasn't even refering to different objects on the same layer, btw. it would be enough if I was able to layer e.g. different bevel and emboss on top of each other (With different colors, softness and size.) But I guess the answer remains the same.

What is the best secondary display for my mbp 2015 13"
I am searching for a cheaper solution than the thunderbolt display for my new MBP 2015 13". I would like to get a display that is not difficult to calibrate and works seamlessly with mac products. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
