Restore & Error 21? "HELP!"
I got my new 3GS Iphone today, along with iOS 4.
I plugged my Iphone into my laptop once I got home (Running Windows 7) and was informed that an update was available (4.01) I clicked for it to install and let it be...
A couple of minutes later an error message appeared (Error 21) and now my Iphone will not turn on (link to itunes picture on phone). When I again connect the Iphone I am told that the Iphone in in recovery mode and to restore.... which again give me the error 21.
Any ideas? "PLEASE!"
I had this problem and have now been able to resolve it!!
Check out this link and follow the advice on there. This guy knows what he is talking about and it worked for me.

If you cannot find the folder where the software update is saved make sure you can view hidden folders. I also disabled all security software before downloading the update again seeing how people seem to think this is the issue. Not sure if it is needed but it worked on my system.

IPhone 5 16GB BLACK RESTORE ERROR (-1) HELP
2 Days ago my iphone turned off unexpectedly. When I opened it it appeared a iTunes logo and a conector logo. Then i tried to restore it from iTunes and everytime I try to it gives the (-1) error. Please help me I'm getting frustrated.

I have tryed to conect it on my lap, pc, different USB ports, cables and nothing..it goes on freeze mode and itunes doesnt seem to recognize if I click restore

Folder exclaimation, stalled restore, error 1418, HELP ME!

i have a 4thG ipod (one with the click wheel), brand new, just got it yesturday. fully charger turned on and worked fine...until i plugged it into the computer.
when i turn it on the apple icon appears the a folder with an exclaimation with "apple.com/ipod/support".
itunes recognises it because it pops up when i plug it in and asks to restore. sometimes it says it has recognised a corrupt ipod and that it must be restored. it starts restoring fine but then freezes in the same spot every time and a box comes up saying "the ipod "ipod" could not be restored. an unknown error occured (1418)"
thats my biggest problem because i know if i could restore it it would work.
then i tried ipod updater 2005-3-23 and it says "invalid ipod service version"

forgot to add that i had also tried formatting through my computer and with HP USB disk storage thingy and they both got to the end then say "formatting failed" -
my ipod generation 5 will not come out of recovery mode. i was simply updating my software and this happened. it will not let me restore it comes up with and error. please help, thanks.

Sounds like you can't update your device. You don't mention an error that it gives you. Take a look at both of these articles to troubleshoot.

If you started your device in recovery mode by mistake, restart it to exit recovery mode. Or you can just wait—after 15 minutes the device will exit recovery mode by itself.

Error 1004, 1013, 1638, 3194: These errors may be the result of the connection to gs.apple.com being redirected or blocked. Follow these steps to resolve these errors:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
Check the hosts file. The restore will fail if there is an active entry to redirect gs.apple.com. Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to a default hosts file. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
If you've used some progam with your iPod that wasn't made by Apple, it might have modified the host file. -

Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.
Error 1600, 1601, 1602
Follow the steps listed above for Error 1604. This error may also be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software. -
My iphone 5c says connect to itunes. It won't update/restore; error message (27) comes up. I also haven't backed the phone up since last year. HELP.

If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

I have an iphone 4 started the problem saying no service, then when restarting asked to connect to itunes and became jammed in MDU mode, I connect to itunes and clicked on restore, it went through all the steps and nearly completed it gives me an error message saying cannot be restored error -1. Can anybody help me how to restore my iphone. or what to do next, some reseller asked me to go the shop where I bought to replace it for me as this error cannot be restored by any shop. It has to be returned to apple and get it replaced. The warranty already expired and don't know what to do.

Help! error message 'The IPod cannot be restored' error message 1418
basically the last time I tried to sync my ipod i had run out of memory. I went back and deleted some of the playlists and then why i tried to sync it wouldn't let me because some of the playlists had changed.
I then restored the settings on my IPOD and realised how to change the settings in ITUNES.
Every time i connect my ipod it says cannot sync re the playlists when I go in and then change them and click on sync it doesn't seem to be able to pick up the connection.
when i tried to restore to factory settings got the message cannot be restored error 1418... Any ideas anyone?

That is a baseband error. Has your phone ever been illegitimately unlocked? If so, that problem happens. If you haven't jailbroken/unlocked, visit your local Genius Bar.
