Restore of an application without having an OLAP database backup

Hello,
Could you tell me if there is a means (manually or through the server manager) to restore a working application-set if I have not a backup of the OLAP database ?
Thanks in advance,
Lionel

Hi,
There is a way :
On the server hosting BPC Server Manager :
1. Create a new folder named "MyAppSet" where MyAppSet is the exact name of your appset.
2. Create 3 sub-folders, in the previous one, named WebFolder, FileDB and SQL
3. In \MyAppset\Webfolder put a zip file contening all the files and subdirectory of the appset webfolder
4. In \MyAppset\FileDB put a zip file contening all the files and subdirectory of the appset fileDB
5. in \MyAppSet\SQL put the .BAK file of your DB (full backup of your appset.
6. Run SAP BPC server manager => AppSet => Restore AppSet
7. Open \MyAppSet directory.. This will automatically find the correct filedb zip, webfolder zip and DB .BAK file
SSAS DB will be recreated but you will have to reprocess application / dimensions and security from the Admin client.

  • My computer locked-up, and when rebooted, my itunes library was gone, replaced with a brand new library.  Fortunately, my 450 GB iTunes library is still on the computer.  Question is how do restore my original library without having to reload folders? Tks

    Help!  My computer locked-up and had to be rebooted.  However, when I restarted it and hooked up my iPod, I noticed my existing iTunes library (all 450 GB of it) was GONE and was replaced by a brand new library.  Fortunately my old, 450 GB library is still on my hard drive under iTunes in Windows Explorer.  How or why could this have happened, and most importantly how can I restore my old libary without having to manually import allow of my music and hundreds of Podcasts and 16000+ podcast files?
    Thanks for any help....

    What you're describing is the expected behaviour.  I believe though that is also is the easiest way to have all the contents available to both of you at all times.  If you have a spacious hard drive you should probably allow this to happen as anything else will be harder to manage.
    My suggestion would be the following if you want to try something different.
    Store all your music at a location that is accessible by both of you — an example would be to use your Public Folder as the locations where iTunes will go and look for all the media files—.  Your wife does have access to it.
    In the Finder you will need to move the folder name iTunes Music to the location in your Public Folder (see above).  Once that's done, you and your wife will have to go into the iTunes Preferences > Advance Preferences and un-check Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library.  From this point on, you can continue to use iTunes as usual.  You'll need to tell your wife what has been newly downloaded/imported into your iTunes so she can manually go look for those items in that Public Folder iTunes of yours and import them into her iTunes.  She will not duplicate by doing that, but, like I say this is an all-manual work.
    She can do the same, so you have access to contents she imported herself.  One more downside of this is that both usernames have to be active in your iMac.  If yours isn't, she won't be able to access any item (song, book, app) located in your Public Folder's iTunes.
    I'm sure there's a way, if you have an router with external hard drive conectivity, for both of you to be able to access —independently— the iTunes Media at all times but I was just reading at another post that doing so can further complicate things.
    Hope this helps.  Please let me know what you think or decide to do.

  • How to restore a control file without having its backup

    Hi,
    Can any one please suggest me how to restore a control file without having its backup.
    Thanks

    To add to what SB said, in years past the instructions for re-creating the control file manually were contained in the DBA Administration manual. It used to be and may still be common to be taking and saving a "backup control file to trace" for this purpose.
    If you lost only the primary copy of the control file and it is an OS file then while the database is shutdown you can copy the secondary over the primary and then use if to start the database. If the control file is stored in ASM then there should be a way to perform the copy via ASM.
    If you use rman for backups then a copy of the control file should be part of the backup process and you can retrieve it from the backup set then perform recovery using the backup control file though I do note the OP said something to the effect no backup exists. Still, I have knows of instances where the DBA did not realize that the backup set contained the control file and the spfile so I think this is worth mentioning just in case.

  • How to run java application without having java environment in  a machine

    can i run java application without having java environment(JVM) in a machine.I mean i dont have installed j2se or jdk in my machine.And i have an j2ee application running on another host which is built in swings.I want to access that application in my machine
    can any one help regarding my problem

    If you only need to access the program from one machine and you are running a Unix-like operating system (e.g., Linux, Solaris), you can use the remote display capabilities of X11. In this case you have to choose the host where the app will be displayed when you start it:
    $ DISPLAY=<hostname>:0.0
    $ export DISPLAY
    $ java ...
    If you want to be able to display it on both machines at the same time, or if you are using windows, then try something like VNC (http;//www.realvnc.com). Or if you are running windows and your version supports it, you can use windows remote desktop.

  • Running Adobe AIR applications without having Adobe AIR installed

    Is running Adobe AIR applications without having Adobe AIR
    installed possible?
    Why wouldn`t it be?
    And if not, when will it be possible?
    Thank you.

    There's no technical way this could be possible. It's like a
    .swf playing without the Flash Player installed, or a Java applet
    without the Java Virtual Machine. Or even like a Windows
    application running without Windows. :)
    There are, however, 3rd party wrappers out there to turn AIR
    apps into native OS apps (basically it wraps the AIR Runtime inside
    a native OS executable, like .exe). One that I can name off the top
    of my head is the Shu wrapper. This is like the old school Flash
    projectors, like Zinc and mProjector. The user doesn't have to
    install anything to run native executables.
    I would be surprised if Adobe has any plans to make an
    executable wrapper for AIR, but I don't know anything. I would like
    to see .air files be able to run in the AIR Runtime without having
    to actually install the .air package, though.

  • Is it possible to have a user interface in a stand alone application without having LV

    Hi!
    I want to know if it's possible to build a stand-alone application in order to avoid purchasing LV and at the same time having a user interface to display data?
    I really want to know what are the advantages of the stand-alone applications and what are their limits of use?
    Thank u

    If you have the application builder (included in LabVIEW professional and above) you can make a LabVIEW application that can be distributed and run on machines that don't have LabVIEW installed. If you only have LabVIEW full, you can purchase it seperately.
    The target machine requires the LabVIEW runtime, which is freely downloadable from NI, or can be included with the installer of your application.
    Please have a look at the datasheet: http://www.ni.com/pdf/products/us/4msw55.pdf
    If still have more specific questions not mentioned in the above link, please ask.

  • Linking between ApEx applications without having to re-login

    Hi all,
    Application Express 2.1.0.00.39
    Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Product
    This is talked about all over the forums but I'm fairly new to this and can't seem to get it to work. e.g.
    Re: handling of authentication between applications
    shared session
    So I have three apps 103, 101, 102. App 103 has a tree which contains links to apps 101, 102. When I click these links however, I am required to log into each of the applications separately.
    Other posts say to ensure I'm using the same cookie and to add "&SESSION" to my link URLs.
    So here's my tree query in app 103 which generates the links:
    select "ID" id,
    "PID" pid,
    "NAME" name,
    'http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=' || id || ':1' link,
    null a1,
    null a2
    from "#OWNER#"."ORHA_APP_HRCHY"
    When I add "&SESSION" to the end of the query I get:
    Bad Request
    The HTTP client sent a request that this server could not understand.
    What is the correct URL?
    I believe I'm sharing a cookie because all three apps have an autogenerated login process:
    wwv_flow_custom_auth_std.login(
    P_UNAME => :P101_USERNAME,
    P_PASSWORD => :P101_PASSWORD,
    P_SESSION_ID => v('APP_SESSION'),
    P_FLOW_PAGE => :APP_ID||':1'
    Or maybe that's wrong?
    I'm using database account authentication. Maybe that's the problem?
    Thanks,
    Craig

    Well it appears for one thing I missed the "."
    Re: Use SESSION variable in URL from HTML region
    Changing my tree query to the following seems to generate the appropriate url:
    select "ID" id,
    "PID" pid,
    "NAME" name,
    'http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=' || id || ':1:&SESSION.' link,
    null a1,
    null a2
    from "#OWNER#"."ORHA_APP_HRCHY"
    But it still asks me to login to each...

  • Using X11 applications without having xorg-server installed.

    Hello,
    I have 2 computers in my network: one is a powerful 8 CPU SPARC, the second is quite old and has 4 slow CPUs. I'd like to run graphical applications on this slow server (logging into it via ssh, server doesn't have either vga nor monitor, it's usable only via console login and ssh), but I would like this powerful computer to be a X11 server - it should work with all those graphical programs that I will run on slow computer. Is it possible (if yes, I would be glad if you tell me how) to remove X11 server software from slow computer (leaving there only client apps, like mozilla, xclock, etc.) and configure it in this way, that this powerful computer will handle all X11 requests?
    Thanks for help,
    Konrad

    Just don't start an X server on the slow one.
    Then you could either ssh into the machine and run programs with your display explicitly set to the other machine.
    (Only necessary if you're not using SSH X forwarding)
    fast_machine$ xhost slow_machine
    slow_machine being added to access control list
    fast_machine$ ssh slow_machine
    slow_machine$ echo $DISPLAY
    (If set, run your programs. If not set, set it explicitly)
    slow_machine$ export DISPLAY=fast_machine:0
    slow_machine$ xterm

    Msecure data.
    Thanks,

  • HOW TO CREATE AND DEPLOY EAR FILE WITHOUT HAVING ACCESS TO DATABASE

    I created an application using jsp and bc4j. I tested it against a standalone OC4j server on the same pc. This week I installed 9iAS to simulate the installprocess which should be due next week. Everything works fine; deploying seems to be a peace of cake... until I realized that the customer's database,
    host etc. are not the same as in my testing environment.I tried to create a connection in JDeveloper with the customer's database hostname and SID. This
    does not work; the host is not known in my development enviroment. So how can I create an EAR file with the correct connection (ie, pointing to customer's host
    and SID)?

    You could use datasources. You should do this in your BC4J Configuration. Then when deploying your applicaiton use the command -installDataSource (from admin.jar) to create the right datasource.
    You could probably use the name of your connection + "DS" so you can also use it locally in JDeveloper as JDev seesm to create this automaticly for your Connections.

  • Since beginning of July 2012, it is impossible to install any application from Appstore, and impossible to update any applicatiin without having a big crash on my ipodtouch (which is almost three years old)

    Since beginning of july 2012, it is impossible to install any app from Appstore. It is not possible to update any application without having a big crash of the ipod which is almost three years old.

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
    If you still have the the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Standalone application without labview ?

    Hi
    I am trying to build an .exe file using application builder in LabVIEW 7.0. Is it possible to build an application without labview dependency ? In short, I want something like an .exe file which will run on systems without labview. I know visual basic has this facility. Please let me know.

    You are not right. It is possible. With LV 7.0 and previous versions (I
    don't know if this still works for 7.1), the executable will run correctly
    if lvrt.dll and the other support files are in the same directory. So you
    could, for example, put your executable on a thumb drive. Copy all files
    and folders in the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\shared\LabVIEW
    Run-Time\7.0 directory to the thumb drive as well. Then your supervisor
    could just run the program from the thumb drive without copying anything to
    his computer. Or, if you want the drive back, he could copy the entire
    contents to his drive without using an installer.
    But this begs the question, if your supervisor is evaluating executables you
    are creating in LabVIEW, what's the problem with installing LV Run-Time on
    his computer?

  • Help! Run AIR Applications without Adobe AIR.

    Hello, I wanted to ask that is there any way to run AIR applications without having Adobe AIR in the computer. It's really annoying when you have to give someone your application to use and then the person needs Adobe AIR to run it. Any suggestions?

    Where to start...
    AIR is a lot like Java in the sense that it requires a run-time engine to be installed. This engine has all "things" required to for the application to run. In a similar way, applications such as 3DMax or Word require that the operating system be present for them to run. Those programs are written using API calls that are present within the target operating system. Likewise, AIR and Java apps are written using API calls that are present within their run-time. To bring it full circle, AIR is an application written in C, that uses APIs for the target operating system. So, when you perform certain functions within AIR, it then knows how to execute needed operating system functions (as needed). AIR also provides a lot of higher level functionality and management that make your life as a programmer a lot simpler.
    Looking at iOS or Android, we have the same thing happening. Some developers are writing apps using Objective-C (iOS) or Java (Android) that are using APIs specific to those operating systems. This is the same as writing your app in C like 3DMax.

  • Access Oracle 9i from a Client Application without Oracle Client Install.

    Is it possible to access an Oracle Database from a Client Application without having an oracle Client Installation ?
    I want to write a program that connect to an Oracle Server. I use Borland C++. But my Programs only works with having the Client Oracle Software installed on the Client. Is there any way to realise this ?

    The way that 99% of the people that want to do this manage is to write Java code that connects to the database via JDBC, using Oracle's thin JDBC driver.
    If you absolutely have to use C++, you can purchase thin ODBC drivers from third parties (DataDirect for example) that will connect to the database without the Oracle client. I'm not aware of any thin, free ODBC drivers.

    My Adobe trial for Photoshop Elements 10 for the Mac was over and I wanted to buy the application. The screen message was "Your trial has expired...but the fun doesn't have to end! Buy now to continue using Photoshop Elements 10 without having to download or re-install. " and then the button "Buy Now". When I hit the Buy Now button I am put in a field to buy Photoshop Elements 13, with no way to change to Elements 10. I do not want to go through the hassle of reinstalling etc. In fairness, it's been over a month since making the decision to buy. Still, I consider this a nightmare. Any ideas on how to buy the app I've got withou having to purchase a whole new one? Thanks.
    If worse comes to worse, will I need to uninstall the trial if I buy a new version? Can I use part of it lime download assistant?

    Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.  If you wish to purchase an older version you will have to find and take your chances with a third party vendor.
