Restoring stereo audio track link to video track as source/destination

I've read everything I can find relevant in discussions & manuals but can't figure out how to get my two audio tracks (stereo) linked back to video track as destinations, as they once were, with video and audio source/destination tabs joined. In the patch panel (when I started this morning) I noticed that only A1 destination button had an a1 source. There was no a2 Source button to join to A2 Destination.
In my groping around I managed to also make the a1 source button dissapear as well. Link and Stereo Pair are checked in the Modify menu. Linked Selection button is on in Timeline.
What the heck am I doing wrong here and how do I get those Source buttons to reappear? Thanks for whatever advice you guys can give.

"how do I get those Source buttons to reappear?"
The vn and an source tabs appear and disappear in the timeline depending on the clip in the viewer: if it is only video, there is only v1, if it is only stereo audio you have a1 and a2, if you have a standard clip audio + video you have v1, a1 and a2, and so on. Just depends on the clip in the viewer.
If you had only a1 source, it means that you probably had your clip unlinked, your stereo pair unlinked and you loaded only one of the 2 stereo tracks to the viewer. If you want to edit them back together select the video and 2 audio tracks in the timeline and cmd-L (link video to audio) and opt-L (link stereo pair).
After that when you load the clip in the viewer you'l have again v1, a1 and a2 source buttons ready to use.

  • No Stereo audio recording in HD video recording.

    Hi,
    I have Nokia 701.
It's too bad that there is no true stereo audio recording while HD video recording.
Though in specification it is given that there are two microphones for stereo recording.

I was right there with you. I posted early on in this thread and was working with tech support on the phone. We worked for a few days and it was like I was having to do too much work on my end. Nothing was working and they were so busy. Someone else posted that they took theirs back and it was an easy swap. I had already made an appointment at the apple store as a backup so I decided to drive the 50 miles. It was so easy....the guy really did not care too much about me working with support. He just tried a restore and was able to repeat the issue. Not saying that all stores are like that but I have had very good results with other apple products and getting support at the genius bar. Good luck...but you may be waiting a while. Seems that the hot topic for them is really the "reception" issue.

  • Multiple audio streams for 1 video track

Hi I have a few different sountracks I want to use with one video asset.
I want to avoid duplicating the video track and putting a version of the audio in it.
If I have an Audio tab in my menus with music and lyrics, one with instrumental only and a dolby 5.1 surrond
how do i target the buttons to choose different audio as i click on the 5.1 let's say, it will choose to play stream #3 5.1 surrond.
Been looking in the manual but could't find anything.
    Any help is appreciated
    thanx

    Sorry about the links -:(
Anyway follow these steps and it should work (one approach, not difficult to do, I just wrote the steps in small bites )
Press F3 Key so we are looking at the same layout in DVD SP
1.) Make a menu with two buttons, label them Audio A and Audio B
2.) Make a Track (the "TRACK")
3.) Place your video on the video portion of the TRACK
4.) Place your Audio A on A1 track and Audio B on the A2 track
5.) Drop a chapter marker at the end of the TRACK (one should be at the begininng of the track by default)
6.) Click Add Story from the top Bar for the TRACK
7.) Name that story Story A, add the first Chapter Marker to the Story
8.) In inspector for Story A deselect/remove check marks for all audio except for 1 (uncheck 2-7)
    9.) Duplicate Story A as Story B
10.) In inspector for Story B deselect/remove check marks for all audio except for 2 (uncheck 1, 3-7)
11.) Set Button 1 from menu to Story A, Button 2 story B
Note that this method will not allow toggling between the audio. A quick way to permit toggling is to do as above, but have both Audios (1 & 2) checked in steps 8 & 10
Create a script called PRESTORYA and set it as a prescript for Story B, with the following:
Set System Stream AU(Audio Stream 1)
Create a script called PRESTORYB and set it as a prescript for Story B, with the following:
Set System Stream AU(Audio Stream 2)
FWIW the links worked just now (downloads a zip file directly to HD, take a look in activity window in Safari, maybe there for you?)

  • Is there a way to see the waveform of the audio in the primary video track?

Is there a way to see the audio waveform of the audio in the video (primary) track?
Scrubbing to determine precise edit points is useful, but seeing the dialog audio waveform would be much better.
You can see the audio waveform in additional audio-only tracks, but for cutting to dialog you really need to see the primary audio waveform that's in the video track.
    Any thoughts?

    msimpson,
No. The waveforms are only visible in the two separate audio tracks.
A work around would be to use Advanced>Extract Audio command.
This command, in spite of its name, copies the audio to one of the audio tracks and sets the volume level of the audio to zero in the video track.
Now you'll have the waveform to use in editing. When you're done with it, you could delete it and raise the volume again on the video track.

  • Interlacing an audio track with a video track

    hey all...
wodnering how i would go about
    interlacing an audio track
over like a 4 minute video track.
i've tried copy the audio in another QT window and pasting it in the video window, but it always ends up the video track without audio for 0 to 4 minutes, then the video is over a plain white visual with the audio playing for minutes 5 to 9.
wondering how to make each line up with teach other
so the audio runs along with the audio
    thanks all
    dave

Open the video document, select all, then use Copy. Now open the audio document, select all and use "Add to Selection and Scale." The video track will be added as a new track in the audio document and its duration will be scaled to match the audio duration. Scaling the video instead of the audio is easier for QT to carry out and will not leave problems like the altered pitch you would get if you scaled the audio.

  • Premiere pro cs3 doesn't place audio into the corresponding video track

It places a video clip with audio in the Video 1 track, the audio is not automatically placed into Audio track 1 but it goes to Audio 2 or 3 or 4. I checked settings both Project and Preferences but have not clue what may cause this problem. Any help would be greately appreciated.

  • Nudging sound track and/or video track

I shot a band in a recording studio. Their output was messed up.
I have the audio which was recorded separate from the video. How would I nudge the audio track on the timeline to eventually line it up with the video?
    thanks in advance
    George

You can move clips by frames on timeline by using the keyboard.
First select the clip you want to move, then hold down the option key and press either the left or right arrows.

  • How to isolate one audio or video track?

How to isolate one audio or video track? My premiere pro cc will only allow me to grab all 8 audio tracks and the video tracks at once when i import it and bring them into the timeline. When I click on one it highlights them all.

It helps to indicate what version of Premiere you have and whether you're on Mac or Windows.
If you're on 7.0.1 or later, then disable the Linked Selection button in the Timeline. It's the button to the right of the magnet (Snap). If you frequently want to toggle between linked and unlinked selection, you can assign a shortcut to the command
Also, you can select any track item by holding ALT while clicking. To select multiple individual track items (e.g., A3, A5, & A7 for a given clip), hold ALT+SHIFT while clicking.
And I believe Sarthak meant "Unlink" rather than "Ungroup." A/V clips are linked by default, so Unlink is generally available. Ungroup will be available only if what's selected is a set of clips that you manually grouped.

  • Video / audio tracks assigned to separate track # (PRE 7.0)

When dragging clips into the timeline video and audio is assigned to the same track #. During the project work (moving a clip to another track) it happended that video and audio got assigned to different track # (e.g. video track #4 and audio track #9), but still linked. Until now I did not find any way to get them back into track #.
    Any help is appreciated.

This key happen if you press the wrong key as you move your tracks around.
Without knowing any real details about the clip -- what format it is, what format your project is set up for, etc. -- it's hard to give specific advice. But the easiest thing might be to delete the clip and re-add it to your timeline.
The audio and video for a clip won't separate unless you select the option for them to do so.

  • Linking video tracks?

I'm sorry if this is asked before, but I can't think of how to describe it in a way I can google it.
In Premiere (I have access to CS3 and 4) I want to somehow link two video tracks together so that the lower track has a default still image which makes it into the rendering if and only if there is nothing in the upper track.
As an example, say you have a pair of eyes that is normally open as the default on the lower track, and every so often you want them to blink. Problem is, the shape of the eyes on each track isn't quite the same so part of the lower image would show through unless it's not rendered. There has to be a simpler/faster/more reliable way of doing this than having to manually making a hole in the lower track every time you want a blink, and manually close it if you move the blink somewhere else.

im not sure I understand, but it sounds like you can make a mask and do that and apply the mask only on the frames you want by cutting the clip when you want to apply the mask to the first frame of that section and cut again when you want the mask to end...
in other words the mask would only be applied when you want..not the entire track...or vica versa...can you post a screenshot of what you have now ..maybe I could understand better then what you mean to do...  I kinda got lost thinking of all these floating eyeballs blinking and stuff...

  • How do you link two audio clips to one video clip?

    Hi guys,
I want to think multiple audio clips to one video clip and aint know how to do it! I found this page on Adobe knowledge base:-
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/3.0/help.html?content=WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b 1038518aef7-7f40.html
It says you can do it but I don't think it explains how? Can anyone provide me with the simple steps required to link two audio clips to one video clip? Many thanks.

Do you mean manual syncing? I've been reading this thread about workaround, which aren't working for me: http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/344/21236
But the question they are asking is the same one I am asking. Isn't this a typical situation, having multiple mics for one camera? For example, if someone filmed a concert with one camera but used both the camera audio, and ambient mic, and a mix from the board, then that would be 3 audio tracks with 1 video track. I'm in a similar situation, and I'm finding it hard to believe that FCPX isn't equipped to edit this way. There must be some way to get one video clip (with reference audio) to sync with four audio tracks.

  • Can't assign chapter track to video track

In the "Creating a Chapter List" help screen, step 17 says "Choose the main video or audio track from the Chapters pop-up menu." But when I do that, the Chapter pop-up menu only gives me the Text track as an option. How can I get the video track to appear as an option? Thanks for any advice.
    Eric

I'm using QuickTime v6.5.2. If you're using v7, your screens might look a little different from mine.
To connect the chapter track to the video track, go to "Get Movie Properties" (Apple-J) and select the chapter track in the left-hand popup. In the right-hand popup, select "Make Chapter".
In the main properties window, there will be a window that shows the tracks controlled by the current chapter track, and a pair of buttons to set or unset the chapter owner track. When you hit the set button, a pop-up should give you the names of all the tracks that can be tied to the chapter track. That's where you should choose the video or audio track.
Does that help, or am I just telling you what the manual already confused you with? 8-)

  • Syncronize movie w/ separate sound/video track

    I need to embed a movie into a flash-file (there's only the
movie with sound in the project).
at importing the avi, I had to separate the sound-track from
the video-track because I needed to add an improved version of the
    audio.
Since I don't know much about Flash, I put the Movie into the
timeline of a layer and then I put the new audio on top of it.
Now I have the problem, that on every machine the movie is
ending not at the same time like the audio.
Is there a way to synchronize them without the need to
reimport the movie? does loadMovie help? (Reimport of the movie
with joined tracks is a pain because I would need to redefine
import-scale and -clipping dimensions on 5 movies.)
The Flash-movie should be compatible with as many players as
possible, I think the minimum therefore would be player version
    6?

You can move clips by frames on timeline by using the keyboard.
First select the clip you want to move, then hold down the option key and press either the left or right arrows.

  • Is there a way to "hide" a video track?

    Hi!
I am editing two videos at once on one timeline - one the main video of a presenter speaking, another on a track underneath the main video, of a timer. Is there a way to "hide" my main video so that I can see my timer video that is below it on the timeline? I don't see that option in this software.
    Thank you!

If you did want to go the Opacity route for revealing your content under video on Video Track 2, you might want to consider
    doing it this way....
I am using Premiere Elements 13/13.1 for the model, but this would be applicable to other versions as well. In the following screenshot, note that each of the video clips (on Video Track 1 and Video Track 2) has an orange line running horizontally through it. This is called the rubberband. For the video clip on a Video Track, the rubberband represents Opacity by default. So you can click/drag up or down on that rubberband (orange line) to change the Opacity ranging from 100% to 0%.
Screenshot 1 shows the condition when both Video Track 1 and Video Track 2 clips are both at 100% and only the Video Track 2 clip is showing. The rubberband is at the top of the clip (100%).
Screenshot 2 shows the condition after the Video Track 2 clip's rubberband is clicked and dragged from the top to bottom of the clip (100% to 0%). Now only Video Track 1 clip is shown on screen..
