Restricted & Calculated Key figures and Structures

Hello Gurus,
I'm using a BW Query to create my universe and all I see is a class called Key Figures and few objects. I don't see my restricted and Calculated Key figures.
Also I want to understand how are the Structures in BW Query brought into Universe? All I see is a column class and row class with corresponding objects in it.
Environment: BO XI 3.1
Appreciate your help.

Vijay

Hi Ingo,
Sorry for getting back a little late on this issue. I've been trying to fix other issues. I'm creating my report out of BW Query and I'm not able to see all the Restricted Key Figures. Also when I try to create my report out of existing key figures and verify the data with BW analyzer the data seems to be different.
What happens is in my universe I've two classes naming Rows_xyz, Column_abc etc and there are like 25 objects in Rows_xyz when there are supposed to be like 60 key figures and in Column class I have a single object. When I pull in this coulmn obect and pull like 3-4 key figures (which I made sure have data from BW Query Analyzer) doesn't return any data. It doesn't even throw an error as No data to fetch.
I took the MDX Query that is generated by this report and ran it on the backend and see that there is no data even there. But from the BW Query Analyzer I can see data for this Column and the key figures that I pulled in the report.
Thank you for your help
Vijay

  • Diff between Calculated key figure and new formula 6extra functions why

    Hi Friends
In BEx query designer we have Restricted key figure & Calculated key figure. In the case of Ristricted Key figure And new selection the difference is Global and local.
But if we come to Calculated Key figure and New Formula the difference is same global and local. But in New formula we have 6 extra function. My question is does is there any certain reason for this or SAP AG not be able to develop those functions

  • Restricted/Calculated Key Figures in Query vs MDX?

    Hello All,
We are embarking on our first project utilizing SAP BW as the Data Warehouse and Web Intelligence as the presentation tool.
We plan on creating the universes on BW Queries.
What are the pros and cons of using Restricted and Calculated Key Figures in the query versus creating them in the Universe?  Also from a performance impact point of view if there is any?
    Best Regards,
    Dan Krieg

    Hi Dan,
I would suppose that there is no big influence on performance. If the calculation for the calculated key figures are very complex I would propose to calculate them on query level. So its easier to use them also in other environments.
Please take into consideration that OLAP universes are not supported in Crystal Reports. More information you find in the thread [OLAP universes and Crystal Reports|OLAP universes and Crystal Reports;.

  • Subject: Restricted/Calculated Key Figure

I am writing a query on 0TCT_C21.  In my Characteristic restriction, I am restricting Process Type to u201CCHAINu201D. Now I want to setup a key figure (it can be calculated or total) which will sum process chain duration (i.e. run time) for all the process types except CHAIN, so it will give total process chain run time. How can I do that?
I setup a Restricted Key Figure, which restricts Duration to all Process Types except CHAIN, but since filtering on PROCESS TYPE CHAIN has already been done, it is showing me process chain run time as 0. Is there a way to do total of all process types even though I have placed a filter?
    Thanks a lot,

    hi,
Your query seams to have contradictory restrictions.
Your Statement: "In my Characteristic restriction, I am restricting Process Type to u201CCHAINu201D".
You have already restricted teh query with the Process type "CHAIN" and OLAP will take this as Global filter.
    But your next statement:
"Now I want to setup a key figure (it can be calculated or total) which will sum process chain duration (i.e. run time) for all the process types except CHAIN,"
By this you want to have key figure with Process Type " Chain".
This CKF/RKF will be considered a Local filter.
The global filter will take preference and The report will fetch the data with Process type " CHAIN " Only .
So after that when your local filter applied on RKF this will 0 as an output.
    My suggestion is:
Restrict the Key Figures with the process types as and when required.
Means the key figure value you want to show only for CHAIn and NOT for chain needs to be identified and developed.
Please modfy the requirement to avoid contracdiction of filters.
    Thanks
    Mukesh

  • COPA calculated key figures and scheme on R/3 side

We have created calculated key figures on the R/3 side and inputted formula (which is essentially the scheme/basic formula in transaction KER1) for this key figure.  We then checked off this key figure in the COPA datasource.  These key figures are only adding and subtracting certain elements for a particular record.  In RSA3 on the R/3 side, this key figure is calculated correctly.  In BW, in the PSA, it's calculated correctly.  The problem is when it goes to the ODS.  It gets no values.  All 0's.
Does anyone have any ideas?  It's straight forward mapping and I'm thinking it's a bug, but wanted to check if there was anyone that had this problem before and some "hidden" config had to be done.
    Thanks,  Mark.

  • Global calculated key figures and their descriptions

Hi, I currently have a strange problem concerning calculated key figures.
We have several global calculated key figures which are used in approx. 100 querys. These key figures have a custom description ( not the same as the underlying keyfig info object).
When we use the calc. key figures in querys we let them take the description from the global key figure (the box 'use Standard text' is checked). When we execute the query, the description of the calculated does not show. As soon as we uncheck the box 'use Standard text' (and thus use 'local' -query level- descriptions) the description does show. Offcourse this is not a solution but merely a workaround, we want the key fig to take its description from the global key figure.
The problem as described above only occures on one of the two development environments. The environment on which the problem occures has support package skw70018(nwv st 16), the environment on which the problem <u>doesn't</u> occure has support package skw70013.

Execute the content at Infoprovider level as below
    Div Team A B C
    A X 2 1 6 9
    A Y 4 2 9 15
    Result Row 6 3 15
If you get same desired result in Infoprovider .. it should come in Report ... Run the report in RSRT (Without cache)
How you built the MP based on single cube or 2 ? Display content in MP for above critieria ... to cross check the report
check the idenfication ... is marked to which cube ?

  • Calculated Key figure and formula variable issue - Urgent

    Hi,
I have created a formula variable on dates. When I run this locally it returns results. Now I have created a calculated key figure on this formula variable. It is not returning any results. Any idea on why this is happening.
    Thanks,

    Hi Kal,
Can you paste your Formula & Calculated Keyfigure calculation.
If possible give information on ur formula variable ( processing by , charactesristic , replace variable with ( if it is replacement path ) , Dimension id )

  • Problem with Calculated Key Figure and Acumulated

    Dear Masters,
I am trying to use cumulated KF in a query. No problem with results. I just flag 'Cumulated'. However I need to use the value of each line in an operation. Let me illustrate it:
    Cumulated KF    KF1      FINALKF
    2                         2             2/2=1
    3 (2+1)                1              1/1=1
    5 (3+2)                 4             4/2=2
    6 (5+1)                 2             2/5=0.4
As you can see above instead divide the KF1 by Cumulated value of a Line, the final result is always KF1/the value that would be the add value. The first line always is right because for the line 1 cumulated value has no accumulation value.
    Any idea?

  • Calculated Key Figures vs. Formulas

    Hello all,
Can someone explain in a few words what's the difference between a Calculated Key Figure and a Formula? We know the CKF's are global to all the queries and the formulas aren't. But how can we decide when to use ones or the others?
    Many thanks,
    Inma

    Hi Inma,
As you correctly mentioned, the CKFs are Global, which means that they can be used in different queries built on the same InfoProvider. Formulas cannot be directly reused, but if they are saved to a global structure, then the structure may be reused. If you are creating a calculation that will be widely used, it is best to create it as global...this helps a lot when you need to revisit the definition, and make changes as one chnage is reflected in all queries.
However, there are some functions like SUMCT, SUMGT, SUMRT, %CT, %GT, %RT which are available only to the formulas (local), so if you need to use them, you cannot use a CKF.
    Hope this helps...

  • Using the function SUM() in a calculated Key Figure

    Hi All,
I need to create a calculated Key Figure and am looking for the function SUM().Can you please let me know where this is present.I have checked under the "Data Functions" and it does not seem to be present there.

    Hi,
Make use of aggragation property of the keyfigure, for summing the values of that KF.

  • Calculated Key Figures question

    Hi
In a Purchase Order report I have included a Calculated Key Figures and this report is transported to the QA environment.
    Then I create another report using the same Calculated Key Figures but when I tried to save the query it gives me an error;
"The query could not be saved due to a problem in transport"
"BEx transport request 'BD1K900664' is not suitable or not available".
I was told that when the 1st report uses that Calculated Key Figures and the report transported over to the QA I cannot reuse the same Calculated Key Figures in the new report. Is this true in SAP BI? If so how can I reuse the same Calculated Key Figures in a new report.

    Hello Lai,
Once you have transported the earlier report along with the original calculated key figure, create one more request by selecting just the cal. key figure which you want to use.
    dont release this request.
Now any change you make in the cal. key figure will be stored in this newly created request.
also go ahead and create a new query using this ckf and save it in the newly created request.
Then you can always release this and transport the same.
    hope this helps..
let me know for any further issues...
    thanks,

  • Calculated Key Figures Issue!

    Hello Experts -
I'm getting error messages for the calculated key figures. The message says that the key figure is not defined correctly. Therefore, I started breaking down the calculated key figures and use them in the eventual calculated key figure. I have included all the calculated key figures. And I've hidden the ones that I dont need to show in my query result. I'm in BI 7.0. Also, I had to remodel my multi-provider after making the initial query. Do I have to start fresh?
I have the following calculated key figure:
    1. Price = (Price > 0) * Price + (Vendor Price - (Vendor Price * (Cust Discount + Vendor Discount)))
This is supposed to be an if calculation. If Price is greater than 0, then Price else the calculation.
Cust Discount and Vendor Discount are CKFs.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks Ajay!
I added a couple of NODIMs and the query is now working!
    I have couple more questions:
    1. Is there a way to say Not Null in Bex? In my if condition, I want to say if Price is not equal to NULL instead of greater than 0.
    2. The above requirement leads me to another question: how do I account for the negative values. I mean I need to add them but I cannot suppress them? I hope it makes sense!

  • Exception Aggregation for a Calculated Key Figure in a Structure

    Hello BI world,
Please can someone tell me if it is technically possible to use "exception aggregation (count) in a calculated key figure within a structure.
The definition of the structure is:
    Rows: Characteristic (Selection) = Problem type (0CATCODE_FE)  = "AF01"
    Colums (Selections) Month 1 , Month 2, Month 3, etc .. Total
Details of the selection for each month
                           0CALMONTH = Variable (offset+1 for Month 2 , 3 etc)
                                   1KYFNM = CKF
    Calculated Key Figure (CKF) =
General Tab:  = Key Figure "0CAUSE_CNT"
Aggregation Tab - Exception Aggregation = Count All Values
Ref Characteristic = Problem type (0CATCODE_FE)
Calculation After Aggregation = not ticked
Local Calculations Tab = All "Nothing Defined"
What I am trying to achieve is the "count" of "Category codes"  for each month specified in the structure.
I have looked in the cube and there should be a "category Code" count of "9" for Jan 2008 for notifcation type AF01 but the query shows 0?
Thanks in advance, points will be awarded.
    Steve

Still not working? Not sure why? Have tried both answers and just not counting...
Is there any restrictions on using "exception aggregation" in a calculated key figures in a structure?
The structure is in the columns and it is a selection that includes the CKF with the exception aggregation plus a restriction on calendar month using a variable?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • "new selection", restricted key figure and basic key figure

    Hi,
I have a test report and i have a basic keyfigure "ZRevenue" and "restricted key figure"(its defined over "ZRevenue") and
a "new selection"(its defined over "ZRevenue").
Now that i have "material number" and "material color" and "request id" in the rows. ("Material color" is a navigational attribute of material number).
In the column level i have a basic key figure  "ZRevenue" and "restricted key figure"(its defined over "ZRevenue")  and
    a "new selection"(its defined over "ZRevenue") .
In a "restricted key figure" or "new selection", we can include a basic key figure or new formula or calculated key figure or an already restricted key figure into it, then we restrict it, with one or more characteristic values. In the report output we get KF values only for those characteristic values, with which it has been restricted. Please correct me if my understanding is wrong.
Initially i restricted the "new selection" (with material number 1 to 3) and "restricted key figure" (with material number 1 to 4).
In the cube i have material numbers 1 to 11. Now all the values were displayed from 1 to 11, but for the
"new selection" (with material number 1 to 3) and "restricted key figure" (with material number 1 to 4) i got values only for 1 to 3 and values for 1 to 4 respectively. This is as expected and is working fine.
Now i tried to restrict the basic keyfigure  "ZRevenue" with material number 1, the output was only until the material number 4 (this is the greatest value of the material number defined over the "restricted key figure").
Then i tried to restrict the "new selection" (with material number 1 to 9) , then the output was from 1 to 9 material numbers.
If i remove the restriction over the basic keyfigure  "ZRevenue" , then i get all the material numbers from 1 to 11, for "new selection" i get values for the material number 1 to 9 and for "restricted key figure" i get values for the material numbers 1 to 4.
Can some one explain me why this behavior?
Edited by: sapbi enthusiastic on Jan 31, 2012 11:48 AM

    Hi,
This is where set theory comes in handy
So what you have is a basic KF (BKF), a selection (SEL), and an RKF.
When producing an output, BEx seems to be looking for the union of all the restrictions you place on these. So when your BKF is not restricted, the union comes out to everything in the underlying DSO. When you restrict the BKF for material number 1, this is how the restrictions might have been processed internally
    BKF: Restriction on material 1
    RKF: Restriction on material 1-4
    SEL: Restriction on 1-3
    Union of these three: 1-4
When you remove the BKF restriction and make SEL restricted to 9, this is how it plays out
    BKF: NO Restriction on material
    SEL: Restriction on material 1-9
    RKF: Restriction on 1-4
    Union of these three: everything.
As the union ends up giving you everything, you get 11 records. However, as SEL is restricted for 1-9, the SEL will have values for the materials 1-9. Likewise for RKF, you'll get values only for materials 1-4. Hope this clears things up!

  • How to use Restricted or Calculated Key figure with Characteristics?

    Hi,
Query has characteristics 'Indicator' which has values  'X' and 'Y' depending this value, the Key figure Quantity(which is always +ve) has to be shown on the report either as -ve or +ve.
Do I use Restricted Key figure if so, how? Or can I manage with a Calculated Key figure?
    Thanks,
    Kamala

    Hi Kamala,
You can create 2 RFKs each in which you are restricting the KF with char value X and Y. For the one that needs to be -ve, create a CKF with this RKF and multiply it by -1 in the formula. Then you can create a new CKF that will add this CKF and the other RKF.
    Hope this helps...
