Retagging pdf - is it possible?

I had a tagged 900+ pages pdf file. After tagging, about a hundred pages were replaced and a lots of links were also added to it. Those pages look different in the tagging tree of course.
I need to have a completely accessible pdf. Is there a way of retagging it? (Acrobat 8 Professional)
Any help is greatly appreciated.

"I assume you are adding page number using "add header/footer" command in Acrobat."
Yes, that's what I did.
"It shouldn't matter much as page numbers are considered as "artifacts" in PDF tag structure, in other words are not considered a part of logical content of the document."
Well, unfortunatelly, it was not the case. The added page numbers were not considered artifacts by default so I needed to mark them as artifacts one by one in the content tree. Since I had added a footer text and a URL to each page, it was a nice job to take care of all those tags in a 900+ pages document.

in Forms Central/View Responses/Save as PDF, is it possible to exclude some form fields from the saved file?

    Hi,
I would like to inform you that with forms central, you can convert the selected fields to PDF.
However, your selection should be sequential. Example- You can convert column 1,2,3,4 and not select column 5; but it is not possible to select only column 2 and 3.

  • Creating PDF with annotation possibility in Adobe reader

How can I create pdf's that have the possibility to create annotations (highlights and sticky notes) in Adobe Reader.
What has to be done at the creating moment of the PDF. Will Adobe Acrobat Standard be sufficient, or is an extended version necessary.
I will create about 1000 PDF's a day. Will one licence be enough?

One license of Acrobat Pro or Pro Extended would let someone "Extend Features in Adobe Reader".
This would have to been done on PDFs already created.
I would be done one PDF at a time.
The alternative is LiveCycle ES (an Adobe Server product) which would do much, if not all, the work programmatically.
    However, it is expensive.

  • Dynamic Logo in PDF - Is it possible?

    Hi
I have earlier generated text field values in a PDF using a FDF file.
The FDF file is generated using PHP on the server side.
Now I need to do the same but I also need to be able to set a LOGO (image file) in the PDF dynamically (programatically).
Is there a way to accomplish this using Acrobat XI PRO to make a PDF with the form fields needed?
Perhaps using a hidden textfield value as the basis for the logo image. Then perhaps set the hidden textfield value same way the visible text fields get their value from the FDF file?
It is important that this is working without the PDF viewer (person) not having to do anything to make the logo appear.
It would be great if possible to do this using an FDF file. If not possible then I would like to hear if I can combine FDF with some other solutions.
Any suggestions on how to make this work?

I'm using PHP to generate the FDF file and to present the visitor with the correct PDF/FDF combination.
The source of the logo will/can be an image (.jpg) file (from same server as the PDF is on). Was hoping to be able to use an URL pointing to the image to be used.
    I came across this document:
How to load dynamic images in a PDF file using Adobe Reader/Acrobat 8+
    http://blogs.adobe.com/dmcmahon/2009/01/06/how-to-load-dynamic-images-in-a-pdf-file-using- readeracrobat-8/
Some down in that document we can read:
Solution 2: Upload the images as attachments.
Do one of the following to upload the images as attachments:Use the attachment panel in Acrobat (View > Navigation Panels > Attachments > Add).
Upload the images through Javascript (see the “Adding Attachments” section in the Javascript scripting guide).
Update the value of the image field using script at runtime to point to the attachment. (See the “Opening and saving attachments” section in the Javascript scripting guide)
    - Upload image through Javascript, by adding attachment (ref. Javascript for Acrobat).
    - Update the value of the image field using script at runtime to point to the attachment.
Looking at the Javascript scripting guide as pointed to by the URL above, did not exactly show any good examples on how to do the above tasks.
But it looks like it is doable.
For this to work in my case I need to be able to make the javascript code load the correct image file.
Which image file to load depends on which person is requesting the PDF and corresponding FDF file.
Maybe it is possible to make the Javascript use a value transferred from the FDF file to the PDF file, or using another technique.
Can someone here please explain to me how I do accomplish what is described above?

  • Display PDF and get possibly modified data back

    Hello
we want to display a PDF in the SAP-GUI, either inline or external via the registered application (Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat or whatever).
If the user has an application that is capable of editing a PDF-Document, we need to get the document's new data to store it in a document server under a new version.
So is there any possibility to display a PDF and register some sort of callback that is triggered and gets passed the document's data (in any format)?
The only solution I found so far, is to display a PDF Form with Adobe Reader extensions and send the entered form-data via a service-call, initiated by embedded Java-Script in the PDF, back to the server. We need however the document's full data and we are going to display normal PDF documents that have no form-fields.
    Thanks alot

    Hi Kai,
To be generic, SAP Adobe Forms are similar to Smartforms when it comes to form designing and printing.
The added advantages include, you can have online as well as offline forms where users can edit pdf's i.e. Enter Data in editable fields and can be uploaded or used as per the requirement.
So your requirement can be surely met using SAP Adobe Forms.

  • WAD - PDF, is it possible?

    Hi All!
I have a Template (created by Web Application Designer). This template contains 20 querys, images (Mime) and CSS styles.
To allow a correct printing, the idea would be able to generate from Template a PDF file. Without Broadcasting.
The user execute the web report and I want to give him the possibility of pressing a button to convert it to PDF.
This is possible? If so, can explain me step by step, what I the way to do it and what i have to configured to allow exporting to PDF.
    Appreciate your answers!

    Javier,
Yes, this should be possible.   First you will need to configure the Adobe Document Services if you haven't already.  Link below.
Then from the Web Application Designer (7.0) modify your web template as follows.
    (1) Add a "Button Group" Web Item.
    (2) Assign Command via Command Wizard to Button.
    (3) Use "Export Web Application" command. Specify PDF as default export format.  Other options here. Choose web items to bind to command (analysis, images, etc.)

  • Load image dynamically by scripting to dynamic xml pdf, is it possible?

    Hi All,
I've uploaded static pdf form to http://groups.google.com/group/livecycle/web/logo.pdf.
    The form contains ImageField.
In the "docReady" event of the form I wrote a script:
    ImageField1.value.image.href="http://www.quicksoft.co.il/images/
    quicksoftlogo2.jpg";
When the form is loaded the ImageField shows the image from the url
    I've updated in the script.
Once the form is saved as dynamic xml pdf the script stop working.
Is that means that it is not possible to load images by scripting to
    dynamic xml pdfs?
Anyone familiar with workarounds for it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rbuz

I got an answer from Adobe:
Dynamic change of an image href has been disabled due to potential security issues. There are however a few workarounds to choose from:
    1. Embedding the images in the form as hidden objects. They can then be set to visible on initialize or clicking a button. This will affect performance, but if the images are in a compressed format, this can be minimized.
    2. Create a Web service interface to grab the image from wherever they are stored, base64 encode it and return it to the form. You would also have to update the bindings for the image field on the form (a one time operation).

  • Creating a test in PDF: Is it possible to create Right and Wrong answer fields in PDF?

Very new to this.  I may be way off, but Im trying to create a test for some students to do in class.  Is it possible to create fields that turn green when right and red when wrong?  Also can you have a field that accumulates the right answers to give a score?

Sure you can, with a bit of JavaScript. What sort of fields will you be using and what part of the field do you want to be green or red?

  • IDCS4 Export to PDF (Header/Footer Screwed Up) in PDF...Possible Solution?

THE PROBLEM (See "Evil footer setup.pdf"):
When you convert a IDCS4 document to a PDF while using a 2-page master, the PDF may be missing the odd or even pages. The page content (silly face) is there, but the header and/or footer is screwed up on either the odd or even pages.  The even pages are mess up in this example.
    THE REASON:
INCS4 does not like a single (header and footer) box to be dragged across both pages.  Whe you do, you get them on one page or the other. Anything in theses header/foot goes asta-la-bye bye. In "Evil footer setup.pdf" both the header and footer boxes were two separate boxes drawn on one side, then dragged across the other page.
THE SOLUTION: (See "Happy footer setup.pdf")
On the 2-page master, set up the even (left pages) first with all of the header and footer information (include bleeds). If your using colored boxes for the header and foot area, put them on the bottom layer and put all text and page numbers on a new layer above. In the "Happy footer setup" example, the even (left) page header is identified by light cyan and the footer is identified by light magenta. Once the left side is done, group it, dup it and move it to the odd page (right side). The header on the odd (right) pages is now dark cyan while the footer is dark magenta.  Once boths sides are set up, overlap each header and footer onto the opposite page by 1/8 of an inch to cover any gaps (seen in the happy example). This is assuming the header on both sides is the same color.
The "Sample Master Pages.pdf" (TOP) shows a single box header and footer dragged across 2 pages. (BOTTOM) shows a single box header and footer on each individual page.  Remember the layers. Compare the sample to Happy and Evil and you'll get the idea.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Problems converting MS Publisher to PDF - Is it possible?

I have created a draft of a family reunion newsletter that is a large  document. I thought that if I save as a PDF I would be able to send via  email to my siblings for their review and comments prior to finalizing  and printing to send to family members.
I also thought that if I  saved it as a PDF, I could email the final version to family members who  possess computers. Thus, conserving energy, trees, money, etc. ;-)
However,  when I upload the document (MS Publisher), the frames do not remain  stable and the document does not look like my original. Adobe Acrobat  does not seem to have a problem with the fonts that I am using, so maybe  it doesn't accept MS Publisher documents for conversion or the  images/graphics are too large.
I am at a lost. I really need  your help.

    Hi Judy,
Still not clear on what version of Acrobat you are using.
Just a loose thought (get a lot of those...).
Perhaps you could break out 'topics' into 4 to 6 page Publisher files.
While doing so, look to optimize any images/graphics.
That is to say, the main "deliverable" is online/on a local machine.
So, images do not need to be more than 72 to, say, 96 ppi.
For those who want "photopaper" calibre images, consider anyone of the online services that host full resolution photos.
Folks can print from there or use a photo print service that many of the hosting services are hooked up with.
Back to the 'topic" Publisher files.
If smaller, optimized files yield PDFs with no significant issues then get them all into PDF.
The 'topic' PDFs provide a foundation for providing several PDF deliverables.
If you have Acrobat 9 Pro -
For those with Adobe Reader/Acrobat 9.x consider a Portfolio.
For those with earlier versions, combine the 'topic' PDFs into a single PDF.
If you have Acrobat 8 Pro -
    You can create PDF "Packages"
Output can be placed at acrobat.com.
From there you can share (via a link).
As to commenting - place your "masters" in their own directory.
Make a copy of this directory.
Process the PDFs in this copy for comment & review.
E-mail reviews are handy; but, it may be worth some look-see at acrobat.com help to learn how to use it for the comment/review 'cycle'.
You might find use of Buzzword helpful and the new addition of workspaces may be useful.
So, for something such as what you are engaged in, acrobat.com may be useful.
    Be well...

  • Photoshop CS5: Saving as a layered PDF- is this possible?

  • Interactive PDF: Is this possible in InDesign?

    Hi all,
I have been tasked with creating an interactive PDF for a project.
We would like to produce something similar to the print screens attached (I have removed all content).
Basically we would like to create click/rollovers on the page, which trigger caption/further reading boxes. Obviously we would like to use the side navigation bar to trigger other pages in the document.
I have looked around online but it may be that i'm not using the right search terms. I have found a few tutorials and had a try, but none of them seem to do what we are looking for.
Also once I had added interactivity, none of the functions would work once exported to PDF, but they did work in the flash viewer. It may be that my settings need tweaking.
I'm sure this is a very simple job, and having to post is my last resort - i'm usually up on things like this, promise!
Thank you in advance for any help.
    Dave

I think it could be accomplished with interactive PDF if you chose Show/Hide fields.
Do a Google search on "show hide fields InDesign tutorial"
BTW, only the actions at the top and at the bottom of the Actions list in the Buttons & Forms panel can be used in PDF files. The ones in the middle are only for Flash (SWF).

    Hi Jorg ,
Are you trying to reduce the file size with the "Reduced size PDF" in the save as other option.
Give it a try if you haven't done it prior.
Open that PDF>File>Save as Other>Reduced size PDF.
If possible ,please share the snapshot of the error message with us so that we can have a look in order to assist you further.

  • Acrobat Pro 8, PDF security: Is it possible to allow printing, but forbid editing?

Hello everybody! I have a question concerning the PDF security settings. We are using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 (CS3) on an Mac OS X 10.4.11 system.
When creating a PDF, is it possible to...
...permit printing AND enable reading aids BUT forbid editing (like copying text)?
Or can I only either permit all OR forbid all?
Thank you for your kind help!
    Mats

Okay, I solved it myself. :-)
I had set the "PDF compatability" to "1.4". This removes the a.m. option. So now, I have set it to "1.5" (or even another later standard), and can now allow printing AND allow reading aids BUT forbid copying text.
    Thank you!
