Return Delivery to Vendor vs Moving Average Price

Hi All!
Scenario:
1 - Imagine a PO with freight conditions. (Ex: Qty=10; Unit Price=10; Freight (Value)=10 from another vendor)
2 - Do the GR normally. (if it´s a new material should have a moving average price of 11)
3 - Return delivery to vendor of Qty=1 >> in the FI document it makes a movement of 10 (material cost)+1(related freight)
When I make the return the movement take into acount the related freight value (=1) . Is it possible to do the return of Qty=1 but the freight value increasing the moving average price?
Best regards,
Joã

HI ,
In this case , you can do Retunr PO with reference original PO and change the Price from Rs.100 to Rs150.
Then , Make GRN for the same and do the Credit Memo in MIRO transaction.
If any doubt  , let me know.

  • Return goods will impact the  Moving average price?

    Hi,
When stock of a material is low,and we return the goods to our vendor from po(movement type 102), the Moving average price may change very large.for example, stock:11 PC, Moving average price:1;return qty(with po 102):10PC,return price:0.5,then the Moving average price bacome to 6. I went movement type 102 can't impact the Moving average price, is it possible?
      Thanks.

    Hi,
This is not possible. As the name indicates, it is the Moving Average Price. When you receive goods / return goods, the system will take it into accoutn & change the MAP accordingly.

  • Moving average price and returns to vendor

    Hello gurus,
I’ve got a question concerning material valuation and returns to vendor.
E.g. we have got 200 pieces of a material with a moving average price of 2 $ each.
Now, what happens if I return 100 of those to my vendor who pays 2.10$ each for them?
In my view, there are several possibilities:
    - Nothing happens, the moving average price is not changed at all, value of the goods is 200$ afterwards.
    - New value of the goods is 400$ - (100 * 2.10$) = 190 $. This would mean that the moving average price is 1.90 $.
    - Last delivered price was e.g. 2.20$, more than 100 pieces were delivered, so the new value of the goods is 400$ - (100 * 2.20$) = 180$, new moving average price is 1.80$.
So my question is: What is standard in SAP?
    Thanks
    Jens

This is what my thought is
When you return the material to vendor then system take the same valuation as your MAP
and when you buy new goods then it will count based on the
e.g. existing stock is 100 and value is 1000 means valuation is 10 a peice
in you but another 100 at 1200 then valuation is 2200/200 = 11
When a material is subject to moving average price control, the system calculates values for goods movements in the following way:

  • Updating the material moving average price in return to vendor process

    Hello,
Our finance department is saying that the affect on the moving average price in our return to vendor process is wrong.
At the moment the moving average price is changed according to the material price in the return PO.
Our financial department says that the moving average price shouldn't be affected at all by a return to vendor.
Can someone tell me how to customize the system according to this request?
    Thanks,
    Sivan

    Dear Friend,
In COOIS Report or MB51 report, Select the list as Documented goods movement and in production order field give the production order number and execute. After executing, if any goods receipt has been done for the same than system will show the same with these it will also show the value of the same. If its not showing than go to change layout and select the same.

  • Returns with the current moving average price

    Dear All,
I have a concern, if its possible to return to vendor with the current moving average price as I know that returning with movement type 122 is not applicable with such a case , so please advice with an OSS note if applicable
    Appreciating your quick response
    Thanks

    Hi,
Why you MAP price to be update during 122 vendor returns?
When returns are processed with same value as it was with 101 movement type.
It cannot be same as MAP price of material.
MAP is update based on the average movements of material with quantity and value.
In std you cannot update MAP price of material during vendor returns and its not suggested.

  • Materials with moving average price that have goods receipt without PO

We want to have materials on moving average price, but they are not purchased but are leftovers from production process that can be used again. As such we want to put them in inventory according to internally determined price but to use V price control in order to avoid reavluation of existing inventory when price changes. How this can be done as we don't have PO where to put the price. Maybe is possible to have dummy PO without vendor?

    Hi there,
so there is never a "regular" GR or invoice? And the material will be put back to stock using movement Type 262, for example?
There is a way... Consider to activate the "External GA Amount" for the relevant movement type(s). You can do this by customizing the movement type's field selection, category "Materials management". Set this field to "optional". After this you can enter a value in the detail dynpro of the movement. Watch out, it is the value for the posted quantity, not a price... The valution price will be recalculated, the moving everage price will change, but there is no revaluation.
    Does this help?
    Kind regards from Germany,
    Bernd

  • Moving average price as price control in material master: Erroneous entries

    Dear All,
Recently we did a price control change from standard price to moving average price for one of our clients and scenario testing was done. We came across the following issue at the IR point and this error occur  time to time ( not for all POs )Following steps were followed
    Scenario
    1. Create a PO for 1000 Kg of material A @ 1USD
2.GR the purchase order- at this point correct values are passed to stock account
3.consumed 250 Kg from the above material and from the same batch- correct values are passed to the accounts correctly
4.invoice verification is done for the above PO with a price variance of 100 USD. The error occur at this time ( some times )
    Correct entry:
    Dr GR/IR account 1000
Dr Stock account 75 (Price variance is charged proportionately charge to the balance stock)
Dr price variance 25 (Price variance is charged proportionately on the consumed stock)
    Cr Vendor 1100
But sometimes the value does not pass accurately for the same PO. Accounting entries are as follows.
( this is same scenario with new purchase order with different master records )
    Dr GR/IR account 1000
Dr Stock account 100 (Total price variance is charged to the stock account and its incorrect this should be only 75 as explain above )
    Cr Vendor 1100
This error occurs sometimes even though the vendor master record and purchase orders are sand same as the time of pass correct entries  . All these time GR based invoice verification tick has activated in PO as well as vendor master .
    Appreciate your advice.

Thank you for the information. But this is not the  system behavior , system proportionately add the price variance to the stock qty which is remaining in the stock also it proportionately charge the price variance to the price variance account which is consumed before the invoice verification. But time to time it passes the incorrect entries.
    eg , Create a PO for 100KG @ 1USD
           GR                     100KG
           Consumed           25
IR , here we IR at higher value than the PO price
         PO value is USD 100
        IR    value    USD 100 + 12 = 112
Correct IR entry : Vendor              CR    112
                                 GR/IR                 Dr    100
Stock                 DR      8 ( 75% of the stk is reaming in stk so relevant variance is USD 8 )
Price variance   DR      4  ( 25% of the consumed , so relevant variance is USD 4 )
And this is accurate with accounting principles and standards .
Actually system correctly calculate the above entries  . but some times it pass the incorrect entry , this is my issue.
In the  erroneous entry it does not segregate the price variance , If we consider the same scenario as above at the time of erroneous entry the system pass entries as below:
                                Vendor              CR    112
                                 GR/IR                 Dr    100
Stock                 DR     12 ( add 100% which is incorrect )
    This is incorrect .

  • Goods Receipt at Moving Average price instead of PO price

We are finding a scenario where in goods receipt is getting booked at Moving average price instead of PO price.
The material is defined with price control indicator as V like any other material. The issue is identifed for a specific material only.
Can any one tell the reason for this?
    Regards,
    Som

Here are responses against your queries
    1. does your PO have an account assignment? - No. This is a Material PO
    2. Was the invoice posed in advance to the goods receipt? - No. In fact invoices are still to be posted. However, there is an advance payment to the vendor. Not sure if this has anything to do?

  • Affect of discount on COGS and moving average prices

    Hi experts,
    I want your suggestion to build following scenario in SAP;
Case: During purchase order, vendor has given special discount for a material when purchased for a specific customer.
    Requirement: I need to know following;
    1. How are those specific prices could be reflected in COGS?
    2. How do those specific prices affect the moving average price? is there any way to avoid this effect in the COGS?
    Thanks

    Hi Pirzada
Considering that you are working with material ledger system will calculate moving average price doesn´t matter the discounts conditions you had during month.
System will revaluate all consumption considering this moving average price.
Maybe you could think about Splliting Valuation feature ou  Make to Sales Order scenario.
These are ways to have a specific cost using the same part number.

  • Freight accrual - Stock Transport Order - Moving Average Price.

    Hi all
I am trying to add delivery costs (freight accrual) to Stock transport order, where the material in receiving plant is valuated at Moving Average Price (MAP). So, the freight cost is getting rolled over into the material price in the receving plant because of MAP valuation.
But my client doesnot want that. Instead we want the freight accrual to post to a expense or COGS freight account. Is there way to control this when material is valuated at MAP in receiving plant?
    Thanks
    Vamsi

Currently, with the outbound delivery for STO and PGI, the following the accouting document is generated.
Cr  Inventory Account (sending plant)   10000
Dr  Inventory Account (receiving plant)  10200
    Cr  Freight Clearing Account                       200
Where as I want the accounting document as follows when outbound delivery is created.
Cr  Inventory Account (sending plant)   10000
Dr  Inventory Account (receiving plant)  10000
    Dr  COGS Freight Account                          200
    Cr  Freight Clearing Account                       200

  • Moving average price and standard price

    Dear All,
Its simple question can any one explains me what is the difference between moving average price and standard price and how the posting will happen with these two price controls and what will get updated.

    Dear Tiru,
There are two types of price control as below:
    a)Moving Average Price (MAP):
-If PO and or Invoice price was differ from material master record, the difference was posting
to stock account. Therefore the valuation price will change.
    b) Difference between a PO price or invoice price and the material master are posted to price
difference account(PRD). As a result, the price in material master remain same.
    Example:
    Material Master Record:
Total Qty: 10, Total Value 20, Price 2
    Scenario:
    PO: 10pcs at 2.50 EUR/PC
    Good receipt 10 pc
    Invoice 10 pc at 2.50 eur/pc
    a) MAP:
    Posting:
    Stock Account GR 25 +
    GR/IR Clearing    GR  25 -, IR 25 +
    Vendor Account  IR 25 -
    New Material Master ,Result:
    Total Qty = 20
    Total value = 45
    Price = 2.25
    b) Standard Price:
    Posting:
    Stock Account  GR 20 +
    GR/IR Clearing    GR  25 -, IR 25 +
    Vendor Account  IR 25 -
    Price difference Account(PRD)  GR 5 +
    New Material Master ,Result:
    Total Qty = 20
    Total value = 40
    Price = 2.00
    Hope this help.

  • Material Costing: Moving Average Price Issue

    Hi Experts,
I have a issue regarding the Moving Average Price of the Material computed by the system (indent sales process):
The Material was created with Purchased Price .74PO Price x 10 items = 7.4 Amt in LC Posted into the system (PGR).
But afterwards, they reversed the Material Document with the same Price .74PO Price x 10 items.
This had been done last 2009.
Come 2011, they created another indent sale -> PO ->PGR for this material, now the price is .12 PO Price x 10 items = 1.2 Amt in LC Posted. However, the moving average price was computed 0.77
How does the system comes up with this computation? Is there inconsistencies in the system?

Thanks @jurgen. I checked-double-checked in MR21, there are no change documents under the material.

  • SAP Note 209864 - Moving average price is disproportionately large

    Dear All,
We are having problems similar to what are described in the SAP Note 209864.
We run the example as decribed in the note on our development server and got the same results.  Then, we run the tractsaction OMC0 to set the tolerance upper and lower limits to 10% for the moving average variance and run the example again but still got the same result.  We do not know why.
In our production environment, some purchased materials may be returned to our warehouse from produciton after their stock quantities reach zero (and therefore their total stock values as well).  If in the time between the material reaches zero stock value and any left over materials are returned to the warehouse, there are good receipts from our suppliers for those materials and the prices are much different from the original moving average prices (e.g. replacement parts that are free of charge).  The value of the subsequent materials returned from the production to the warehouse will be valuated incorrectly.
We would like to control the vairance to a pre-defined percentage, e.g. 10-20%.
    Please help.
    Best regards,

  • Making Moving average price a mandatory field in MM01

    Hello,
I've tried to make MBEW-VERPR a mandatory field in TC MM01, but with no success.
I tried using field selection (OMSR), screen variant (SHD0), making system message M3 131 an Error - nothing worked.
    Please advice.
    Thanks,
    Dikla

    Dear Lakshman,
You are right in what you are saying, and to explain the reason why I'm trying to make this field mandatory, I'll describe a scenario:
You have a Make To Order purchased material and you received an order for this material from one of your customers. You go out to purchase this material.
When you do GR for this PO, the PO price does not change the moving average price (MAP) of this material - it changes the sales order MAP of this material.
If, for some reason, the customer cancels his order at this point, you will do transfer posting to this material and change it from sales order stock to own stock.
We do this transfer posting with movement type 414 and that movement does not change the MAP of the material.
Now we have stock for this material, but with MAP zero.
If now we receive another customer order, we don't have to go out for purchase because we have this material in stock.
If we will use MvT 413 to allocate the stock to the sales order,
it will be allocated with price zero.
In this case, when we'll post the outbound delivery, no financial document will be created because the price of the material was zero.
I want to prevent this situation.
If the field is mandatory, even a price of 0.01 will be enough for the creation of financial document when I post a material document.
    Dikla
