Return system date

Apologies if this has been answered before... but I really did search the forum and couldn't find specifically what I was looking for.
I'm trying to automatically get the current date which I found -- ($.rawValue = num2date(date(), DateFmt(4)). However the 4 date formats available do not meet our standard format of YYYY-MM-DD. Is there a way to get the current date to automatically display in this format, including the padded two-digit month and day fields?
AND once the date field is filled in... it is "locked" into place so when the document is opened again, the original date is not replaced by the new "current date".

In Javascript, maybe something like this..
if (this.rawValue == "null")
this.rawValue = util.printd("YYYY-MM-DD", new Date());
Maybe you have to change the Display pattern (OBJECT TAB --> FIELD TAB) to YYYY-MM-DD (?)
check & let me know! also check whether it submits in that format.. Rarely can I get something to work the way i want it to in Designer :|

  • Crystal Reports XI String [255] limit with the File System Data driver...

    I was trying to create a Crystal Reports XI report to return security permissions of files and folders.  I have been able to successfully connect and return data using the File System Data driver as the Data Source; however the String limit on the ACL NT Security Field is 255 characters.  The full string of data to be returned can be much longer than the 255 limit and I cannot find how to manipulate that parameter.
    I am currently on Crystals XI and Crystal XI R2 and have applied the latest service packs but still see the issue.  My Crystal Reports Database DLL for File System data ( crdb_FileSystem.dll ) is at Product Version 11.5.10.1263.
    Is it possible to change string limits when using the File System Data driver as the Data Source?  If so, how can that be accomplished.  If not, is there another method to retrieve information with the Windows File System Data being the Data Source?  Meaning, could I reach my end game objective of reporting on the Windows ACL's with Crystal through another method?

    Hello,
    This is a known issue. Early versions you could not create folder structures longer than 255 characters. With the updates to the various OS's this is now possible but CR did not allocate the same space required.
    It's been tracked as an enhancement - ADAPT01174519 but set for a future release.
    There are likely other ways of getting the info and then putting it into an Excel file format and using that as the data source.
    I did a Google search and found this option: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/16772-45-display-explorer-folders-tree-structure-export-excel
    There are tools out there to do this kind of thing....
    Thank you
    Don

  • Report Script returns no data and "java.io.FileNotFoundException" error

    When attempting to write to a new file (Eg: C:\TEST.txt), Report Script returns no data and "java.io.FileNotFoundException" error occurs.
    This error occurs only in Essbase 9.3.1.3 release, however it works fine in release 9.3.1.0.
    After running the report the script, it pops up the follwing message:
    "java.io.FileNotFoundException: ..\temp\eas17109.tmp (The system cannot find the file specified): C:\TEST.txt"
    When checked the TEST.txt, it was empty.

    Sorry folks, I just found out the reason. Its because there was no data in the combination what I was extracting.
    but is this the right error message for that? It should have atleast create a blank file right?

  • Report returns wrong data when run on server

    Hi,
    I'm runing CRS XI R2 on Windows Server 2003 SP2.  When I refresh a report in the Crystal Reports XI Designer, I'm getting correct data.  But when I schedule the report to run on the server it returns wrong data.  The data is different from what I see when I refresh it from the designer.  In the report I have running totals set up to count customers that meet a certain criteria.  The report is very large.  It take almost 2 hours to refresh.
    I was wondering what is causing the difference in running total data between refreshing it on the designer and running it on the server.  Is it returning wrong data b/c of it not reading all the records?  Should I be making any changes to the server settings?  I saw that under pageserver, there are options for  setting the 'Minutes Before an Idle Report Job is Closed' and 'Database Records To Read When Previewing Or Refreshing a Report".  Do either of those have anything to do with the report returning incorrect data when being scheduled to run on the server?
    Thanks,
    Kim

    Hi Xuandao,
    You would need to Use Cell Binding and Trigger concept to accomplish this.
    Its simple, however, you would have to work on a trial and error basis to understand this concept as implementing the same is subject to your dashboard and WEBI Design.
    Open you LiveOffice.
    Insert your WEBI, Now, go to Object Properties of your WEBI, select the second tab that says Prompt, Here, it lists the prompts that you have for your WEBI. This would also enlist your BEx variables as well. Select this BEx variable and click on the button that says Prompt at the bottom of this window. Here, select choose Excel Data Range and click on the cell select button on the right (small button that lets you choose what cell you want to bind this prompt to), Now select a free cell that would not be even populated later on when you run the dashboard say A1 (remember the value that you select). Click on OK and again OK. The WEBI Refreshes and you can see all the prompt values at the cell A1. These are all the possible values stored for your BEx prompt variables (these values are fetched from BW system dynamically).
    Now, save this LiveOffice, Go to you dashboard. Connect your dashboard to your Live office. Go to Data-> connections-> Now, select the WEBI and in the right hand pane  go to Usage tab, here, Click on Trigger cell button on the right hand side and select A1 in you LiveOffice.
    It should work fine.
    Let me know.

  • Printing System Date on Report Title

    How can I print the system date on the title of report generated by SQL*Plus?
    I remember it is possible to include SQL.PNO in the statement TTITLE to print the page number. Is there any variable like SQL.PNO which represent system date?
    Previously I've include SYSDATE to the SELECT statement of the report. It is the column named TODAY, with option NOPRINT and NEW_VALUE TT_TODAY, where TT_TODAY is include in TTITLE statement. The problem is: if the SELECT statement returns nothing, TT_TODAY will be blank/Null.
    How can I work around with this problem?

    Dear all,
    My colleague told me the way to print System Date on title of SQL*Plus report as followed:
    COLUMN today NEW_VALUE tt_today NOPRINT FORMAT A1 TRUNC
    TTITLE CENTER tt_today RIGHT SQL.PNO
    SET FEEDBACK OFF
    SET TERMOUT OFF
    SELECT SYSDATE AS today FROM DUAL;
    SPOOL RPTFILE
    SELECT ....... << to generate report output >> .......
    SPOOL OFF
    SET TERMOUT ON
    SET FEEDBACK ON
    It works! The output file contains System Date on each page title.
    I don't understand why Oracle didn't implement variable similar to SQL.PNO to represent the System Date. If Oracle is able to create SQL.PNO which can increment on each page break, why not the System Date which remains the same on each page?

    Hi Shivam Mittal
    When you clicked in "Read system Data Remote", were the information returned with success in the logs ?
    Usually the informations aren't pushed because the READ Rfc's are failing.
    If you run job LANDSCAPE FETCH, the information are being collected correctly ?

  • Java.util.Calendar returning wrong Date object

    Example: This was my scenario last night. A server in California has date/time of 'Mon Aug 18'. Current time in Indiana is 'Sun Aug 17'. I use Calendar.getInstance(TimeZone.getTimeZone("America/Indiana/Indianapolis")) to return a Calendar instance. I then call the getTime() method on that instance. It should return a Date object relating to that particular time zone. It will not. It defaults back to the server time. When I print out the Calendar instance everything is good, correct date, correct time,etc. WHY WON'T THE getTime() return the correct java.util.Date???
    Following is the output was run today so the dates happened to be the same so focus on the Time. Output includes Server time, new Calendar values, and the Date returned by calendar instance getTime(). See that the Calendar is getting the correct Time.
    SERVER DATE=Mon Aug 18 15:52:13 CEST 2003
    CALENDAR INSTANCE=java.util.GregorianCalendar[time=1061214732975,areFieldsSet=true,areAllFieldsSet=true,lenient=true,zone=sun.util.calendar.ZoneInfo[id="America/Indiana/Indianapolis",offset=-18000000,dstSavings=0,useDaylight=false,transitions=35,lastRule=null],firstDayOfWeek=2,minimalDaysInFirstWeek=1,ERA=1,YEAR=2003,MONTH=7,WEEK_OF_YEAR=34,WEEK_OF_MONTH=4,DAY_OF_MONTH=18,DAY_OF_YEAR=230,DAY_OF_WEEK=2,DAY_OF_WEEK_IN_MONTH=3,AM_PM=0,HOUR=8,HOUR_OF_DAY=8,MINUTE=52,SECOND=12,MILLISECOND=975,ZONE_OFFSET=-18000000,DST_OFFSET=0]
    Date from getTime()=Mon Aug 18 15:52:12 CEST 2003

    I got it worked with using DateFormat.parse !
    The trick is to instantiate a new Date object as a result
    of parsing out of 'localized' date string.
    with below code :
    Calendar localCal = new GregorianCalendar(TimeZone.getTimeZone("America/Los_Angeles"));
    localCal.set(Calendar.DATE, 25);
    localCal.set(Calendar.MONTH, 7);
    localCal.set(Calendar.YEAR, 2003);
    localCal.set(Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY,6);
    localCal.set(Calendar.MINUTE, 38);
    localCal.set(Calendar.SECOND, 11);
    Calendar sinCal = new GregorianCalendar(TimeZone.getTimeZone("Asia/Singapore"));
    sinCal.setTimeInMillis(localCal.getTimeInMillis());
    int date = sinCal.get(Calendar.DATE);
    int month = sinCal.get(Calendar.MONTH);
    int year = sinCal.get(Calendar.YEAR);
    int hour = sinCal.get(Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY);
    int min = sinCal.get(Calendar.MINUTE);
    int sec = sinCal.get(Calendar.SECOND);
    String sinTimeString = date + "/" + month + "/" + year + " " + hour + ":" + min + ":" + sec;
    System.out.println("VIDSUtil.hostToLocalTime : time string now in SIN time : " + sinTimeString);
    java.util.Date sinTime = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss").parse(sinTimeString);
    System.out.println("time in SIN using Date.toString(): " + sinTime.toString());
    It prints out :
    VIDSUtil.hostToLocalTime : time string now in SIN time : 25/7/2003 21:38:11
    time in SIN using Date.toString(): Fri Jul 25 21:38:11 PDT 2003
    (Ignore the PDT, because Date.toString() defaults where the JVM is running)

  • How to use Db Provider Factories with System.Data.SqlServerCe

    I'm using SQL Server Compact Edition, but in the future I would like to be able to switch to another SQL Server Edition or even a different database. To achieve this, Microsoft recommends using DB Provider Factories (see: Writing Provider Independent Code in ADO.NET, http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=674426&SiteID=1).
    I enumerated the available data providers on my PC with:
    Code Snippet
    System.Reflection.Assembly[] myAssemblies = System.Threading.Thread.GetDomain().GetAssemblies();
    The important entry is:
    "SQL Server CE Data Provider"
    ".NET Framework Data Provider for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition"
    "Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client"
    "Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client.SqlCeClientFactory, Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91"
    When executing:
    Code SnippetdataFactory = DbProviderFactories.GetFactory("System.Data.SqlServerCe");
    I got at first this error run time message:
    Failed to find or load the registered .Net Framework Data Provider.
    I added a reference to "Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client" at C:\Programme\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client.dll and the program runs.
    Of course, it uses "Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client" instead of "System.Data.SqlServerCe". Laxmi Narsimha Rao ORUGANTI from Microsoft writes in the post  "SSev and Enterprise Library" that "Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client" is not meant to be used and that we should add the following entry to the machine.config file:
    Code Snippet<add name="SQL Server Everywhere Edition Data Provider" invariant="System.Data.SqlServerCe" description=".NET Framework Data Provider for Microsoft SQL Server Everywhere Edition" type="System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeProviderFactory, System.Data.SqlServerCe, Version=9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91" />
    After changing the code to:
    Code Snippet
    dataFactory = DbProviderFactories.GetFactory("Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client");
    I get the same error message as before, even after adding a reference to "System.Data.SqlServerCe"  at C:\Programme\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll.
    Any suggestion what I should do ? Just use "Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client" ? Anyway, I don’t like the idea that I have to change the machine.config file, since I want to use click once deployment.

    It seems there is no DbProviderFactory for System.Data.SqlServerCe. At least I couldn’t find one, no matter how hard I searched on the Internet. I only found Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client.SqlCeClientFactory. But we are not supposed to use Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client and the 2 classes do have quiet some differences among their members. So I decided to write my own factory:
    Code Snippet
    public class SqlCeClientFactory: DbProviderFactory {
    public static readonly SqlCeClientFactory Instance = new SqlCeClientFactory();
    public override DbCommand CreateCommand() {
    return new SqlCeCommand();
    public override DbCommandBuilder CreateCommandBuilder() {
    return new SqlCeCommandBuilder();
    public override DbConnection CreateConnection() {
    return new SqlCeConnection();
    public override DbDataAdapter CreateDataAdapter() {
    return new SqlCeDataAdapter();
    public override DbParameter CreateParameter() {
    return new SqlCeParameter();
    That was easy enough, right ? I spent 1 week investigating the problem, 10 minutes solving it. I wonder why Microsoft didn’t include this class, because they have already the code in Microsoft.SqlServerCe.Client. I guess they have their reasons, but of course, they don’t tell us. After wasting one more month, I probably can tell. Oh, how I hate this.
    Or has anyone an idea what might be the problem ?

  • Returning a Date from a method

    in class we have a lab that uses a method to return a Date.
    The Date is printed out to the console when the driver class calls it. I tried using dateCreated.getDate() but it says it cannot convert from int to Date.
    here is some snippets from my code
    private Date dateCreated;
    protected Date getDateCreated()
                  return dateCreated;
    }//this method does nothing yet (returns Null)any suggestions?
    thanks!

    I want the date to be displayed upon the driver class calling it.
    Currently, when the driver class calls the method getDateCreated()
    it returns a null to System.out.println
    I don't want a null I want the date
    if this is still unclear please let me know I awill post more code in hopes that it will be more clear on what I am trying to do.

    Suddenly the same ibots, they run but the content of the attachment says "The specified criteria did not return any data".
    I checked the log files and could not see any relavant error.
    If I go back in the report that I am sending through the ibot, it runs without any problem.
    I tried to send it in different formats and run as different users, but the results are still the same!

  • System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission Fail SSRS

    Hi,
    I created a custom dll to be used in reporting services.
    In this custom dll I have a method that will querying a database and return values that I will use as parameters for my report, something like,
    My report is expecting a division as parameter and as default value I set this expression
    "= CustomDLL.ClassName.GetDivision(User!UserID)",
    Inside the function I have something like this
    "Select division from UserDivisions where UserID = @functionParameter"
    I tried the dll and everything works fine but when I use it either in Report Builder or Report Designer (BI) it fire me with this error.
    System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.
    Some people suggest to make some changes in rspolicy.config file to pass this error, I have try all that without result,
    One more thing I have Form Authentication in my SSRS.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello...I have been struggling with CAS permissions on my custom assembly for many days.
    What I don't understand in this answer is What is the link between the NamedPermissionSet : MyDllPermission
    and the CodeGroup: MyDllGroupCode
    I would have thought that you are referencing the Named Permission set in the CodeGroup, so surely it
    should read:
    <CodeGroup class="UnionCodeGroup"
                                    version="1"
                                    PermissionSetName="MyPermissionSet"
                                    Name="MyDllGroupCode"
                                    Description="">
    Thanks.

  • Convert system date to MM/dd/yyyy

    Hi,
    I have to insert system date(current date) to MS Access database which contains colums in MM/dd/yyyy. Can you tell me how can i do it?
    --Ramesh.N

    String getDate() {
              Date theDate = new Date();
              SimpleDateFormat newForm = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
              String date =  newForm.format(theDate);
              return date;
         }Try that

  • Convert the date of string to datetime format 'MM/dd/yyyy' when the system date format is 'dd/MM/yyyy'.

    I need convert the date of string format 'MM/dd/yyyy' to datetime format 'MM/dd/yyyy' when the system date format is 'dd/MM/yyyy'.Since
    I need to search values based on date where my database datetime  is 'MM/dd/yyyy' format.

    In my opinion you should re-consider the assumption that the date picker returns a string. Maybe it is able to return a
    DateTime object directly instead of string. Then you will pass this value as a parameter of SQL query. This should work regardless of computer configuration.
    Otherwise, follow the previous string-based approaches.
