Reverting a file back
Hey everyone,
I was editing a clip in Audition CS6 and when I reopened the session I noticed that audio was missing. I went back to the original file on my computer and found that this too was changed. I tried to go into the file and clip 'restore previous versions' but there was nothing there.
Is there anything I can do to get this audio file back to it's original state?
Note: I'm working on a PC.

I'm afraid not. Once a file has been saved, and Audition is closed, then all previous versions are lost. This is because they sit in the temp file whist the file is being operated on (so restoration is possible), but when Audition closes, the temp file is closed too. You can't keep old temp files - they get enormous. So any file worked on in Audition's waveform editor and saved has permanent changes. The multi-track editor is different - that only makes replay changes to files, so the files themselves aren't altered.
On all material that is irreplaceable, you should only work with a copy, not the original.

Can I revert from CC back to CS6?
I received a file I couldn't read (as I am running CS6) so I downloaded a trial version of CC to read the file and save it to CS6. But after that, CC subsumed my CS6 as the default application and without me realizing it saved 14 of my source packaged files as CC—now I cannot open them. I am furious! What can I do? Yes, you didn't mention which Creative Cloud tools or trials you were using, but Cozmicone is right – for most Adobe CC apps you can downsave the file back to be openable in older CS6, CS5, CS4 or CS3 versions of the programs... although newer features that weren't present in earlier releases will not be supported. -
Recently updated Pages because of Mavericks update, quickly discovered how limited new version is, exported altered files back to Pages 09 format and re-opened using earlier Pages. In amending to re-save as templates again noticed a 212kb file has bloated to 5.9mb.
Has anyone any ideas or experience as it will not take long to fill up a 1TB drive at this rate! - I had left behind PC's and MS Office and was reasobaly happy using Pages for business, but it looks like Office for Mac is now going to b eneeded.Yes, I opened them all with 5 then re-saved as v5 templates. Then realised other problems with v5 so exported them all back v09 as xxx.pages files. Used some with v09 and noticed they had all increased.
I just checked again and noticed that the initial v5 saved templates had typically increased from 412kb to 1.1MB (they do have 4 graphics) - then after exporting the templates are 5.9MB in v09 an dthe files are still 412kb.
I had a similar problem many years ago using RTF files with Word and they kept bloating everytime you edited and saved due to saved or linked graphics? -
I put photos in trash and emptied it! Can I get files bacK?
I threw my entire photo library in trash (don't ask) and emptied it. I've been trying to recover files with Data Rescue II -- have run it three times and every time, it sticks when I get to "Scanning Drive, Postprocessing CBR Data"
The first time it said: remaining time = 16 mins. 2nd time: remaining time = 18 mins. This time it says: Remaining time about 17 mins.
I started it last night at 10 pm. It's been stuck on "17 minutes remaining" since I got up this morning.
ANyone have any suggestions for getting it to process the hard drive?
Is there any other software I should try? I stopped using hard drive as soon as I realized what I'd done. I backed it up on external hard drive and am running off of that. (I know, I should have backed up BEFORE I deleted everything. Yikes)
Thanks for any suggestions...!The File Salvage program is truly a god send. It had been recommended to me and admittedly I was a bit skeptical. Ultimately, I did decide to download and purchase the Sunday morning following my unfortunate mishap and try it.
I am so happy that I did decide to buy and try it.
The downside is that can be time consuming as it automatically assigns new generic file names / numbers to each file that necessitates the user to open each file to determine if it is a file that he/she wishes to rename and save.
The upside is that I got all my files back and of course my sanity, as well. -
I have a dilema i use a programme called Mackeeper i accidentally moved several checked files to my trash BUT i didnt delete them,i would like to put the files back where they belong but the put back option is in grey and wont work?? i have spoken to Apple and to no avail !!!
Mackeeper moved my files to my trash so i pulled them out of my trash to my desktop it has copied them to my desktop as well as kept them in my trash!!
im so confused and things are not working properly anymore such as my google chrome for example...all my book marks are gone BUT i can go to the google file which is out of place on my desktop and view all my bookmarks data...ALL of my files still exist but they are just out of place now which is making it hard for certain options on my computer to work...

Remove "MacKeeper" as follows.
"MacKeeper" has only one useful feature: it deletes itself.
Note: These instructions apply to the version of the product that I downloaded and tested in early 2012. I can't be sure that they apply to other versions.
IMPORTANT: "MacKeeper" has what the developer calls an “encryption” feature. In my tests, I didn't try to verify what this feature really does. If you used it to “encrypt” any of your files, “decrypt” them before you uninstall, or (preferably) restore the files from backups made before they were “encrypted.” As the developer is not trustworthy, you should assume that the "decrypted" files are corrupt unless proven otherwise.
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A. The "MacKeeper" application is in the folder that opens. Quit it if it's running, then drag it to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your login password. Click the Uninstall MacKeeper button in the dialog that appears. All the functional components of the software will be deleted. Reboot.
Failure to remove MacKeeper will result from neglecting any one of these points:
Quit MacKeeper before dragging it to the Trash.
Don't empty the Trash after dragging the application to it. Let MacKeeper delete itself.
Don't try to drag the MacKeeper icon in the Dock to the Trash.

The only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for — such as creating, communicating, and playing — and does not modify the way other software works. Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it.

Restore from the last backup that predates the unwanted changes. -
How to convert JSP Compiled class file back to JSP
Is their any way to convert the JSP converted class file back into JSP file, I have few JSP files missing in my application but i do have class files deployed corresponding to the JSP file. Is their any way where i can convert my JSP class file back to JSP. I tried used decompliers but it conerts the class file into JAVA files, Is their any such decompiler that converts the JSP converted class file into Java files.

I imported different trips to different catalogs on different external hard drives. Later renamed external HDs. I want to combine catalogs and have my source (NEF) files all together on one drive. I’m not really sure how to get those source files back and get rid of the extra long path to where the source files are now located. If I re-link files to their current catalog (many different paths to files in same catalog) can I merge (import catalogs) into one master catalog? Will the new (Master catalog) have the correct link to the source file? If not, how or can this be done?
I have tried to explain my situation as clearly as I can. Do you understand my situation?

Can you move files back and forth between an iPad and a PC using iTunes?
If I read this article correctly, http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4094 I should be able to connect my iPad to my PC, fire up iTunes and then on the Apps tab in iTunes I should be able to click on an app, Pages for example and then just drag files onto the Pages Documents column from a Windows Explorer window.
This is great. I was hoping to use DropBox but it is such a hassle I don't know why people are so thrilled with DropBox on iPad. If I can just move files back and forth using iTunes that should be fairly easy. I wish there was a way to just upload my files to iCloud from my PC but the iCloud control panel app for Windows only seems to connect Outlook, Photostream and Bookmarks. I want to be able to just carry my iPad and not have to deal with a computer.
I thought that they said that you didn't need to have a computer to have an iPad. I guess if you have a computer and then GET an iPad its a different story, unless you have a Mac of course.
Anyway my question is: can you move files back and forth between a PC and an iPad using just iTunes?I still need to do some trial and error testing with DropBox and my iPad. But can I link my iPad to my DropBox account so that I can always see the files on DropBox when I open Pages on my iPad? I just want one place to store my documents, and iCloud doesn't seem to be up to the task when it comes to opening a fil;e, editing it and then saving it back to iCloud. I just want a networked storage location that works like a networked drive on my LAN.
I realize that hollywood and the music industry are up in arms about file sharing on the Cloud which is why so many things are made more difficult than they need to be. -
I want to transfer all my iPhoto, iTunes, contacts,documents, etc. files from my MacBook, which I am selling, to a MacBook Pro. What is the easiest and safest method of achieving this? Can the files backed up on Time Machine from the MacBook be transferred to the Pro in some way? I would like to capture the files as they appear on the MacBook, such as "Events" in iPhoto and the various song categories within iTunes without having to rename them all once saved on the Pro, which is the case with photos when I simply save them to thumb drive and import them to the Pro. Sny advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for all your assistance. There is no need for apologies, Migration Assistant did indeed create a second account for the MacBook data. It has just taken me some time to figure out how to access it. I now have all the MB data in one account and the MBP files in another, which suits me fine. In fact, it is an advantage in my case as it keeps the private and business aspects separated.
I will however try the fatcatsoftware to transfer all the iPhoto files to my iMac, where I keep my main photo library. and it will be of help to keep the events, etc in the transfer. As far as iTunes is concerned, I have HomeSharing on all my computers and this has obviated the need to worry about playlists being transferred successfully. However, HomeSharing did not appear to share the iPhone/iPod apps that were stored on the MB and although these have now come across with the new MacBook account on the MBP, I was wondering whether my iPhone and iPod will be recognised by the MBP and sync with it? Will I need to have the MB account open to achieve this or will the MBP recognise and sync with the iPhone/iPod automatically irrespective of which account is open?
Thanks for the tip on deauthorising my iTunes account from the MB before sellng. This I will do and I believe the best way to remove all of my data from the hard drive is to reinstall the MacOSX operating system software. Is this the right approach to securely delete everything?

How can I import an ibook file back into iBook Author?
I exported an ebook from iBook Author thinking it is the equivalent of saving the file.
I did not save the file, I only exported it and than exited the program.
My active file is vannished.
I need to make some adjustments to the ebook, but can not bring it back up.
Is there a way that I can re-import the iBook file back into iBook Author?
When I open iBook Author and try to open the exported file the program does not recognise the ibook file...

You can dig into the .ibooks file by changing the suffix to zip, but you'll have to manually extract what you can from assets you find. Please only do this with your own books. -
The old calender iOS6, in the year view, it shows how much busy I am in a day by indicating the color intensity. But the new calendar year view is totally useless!!! also too bright!! Why apple does this?? What is the way to revert the calendar back???
Unfortunately, that's the way the cookie crumbles nowadays. Sir Jony Ive's GUI design for iOS7 has been met with much skepticism (to say the least). But until the company sees the compelling need for an adjustment or reversal, it "ain't happenin' ". So amble over to the feedback page ( http://www.apple.com/feedback/ ) and make your displeasure known to the company, OR make it known by not purchasing its products. Because as long as the iGadgets continue selling as fast as they can make them, they will see no need for change.
BTW, do note you are NOT talking to Apple here. This is just a user-to-user forum.
Edit: for now, you can also try out any of the alternate calendaring apps available in the App Store. -

we transferred purchases and synced from a iPod touch to a toshiba laptop, after it updated and synced again we have been unable to put the files back onto the ipod. the computer will not let us drag or copy paste files, and when we tried to " export" the library to the documents folder, it only showed up in code. we have books and music we would like to reload to the ipod.

It sounds like you are unable to manually put your content back on your iPod Touch.
It seems like you may need to re enable Manually Manage Music now that the device has been updated, and this article should help with that.

I have all my media on an external drive for space. Is there a way I move the library file back to my internal had drive so that Timemachine will keepa backup of the file. Recently my library file became damaged and I lost all my playlists and playcounts and all that good stuff. Thanks for your help.
I never lost any media mind you just the library file that tell iTunes where everything lives.
On this point, you can keep a copy of of the "Itunes Music Library.xml" file, which contains the itunes metadata for your music library (songs & playlists).
Obviously, you would still need the files themselves for this to be of any worth, but if you ever find yourself in the same situation you can use the .xml file to recreate iTunes as it was. Keep in mind that you must import the .xml file into iTunes for this to work, you cannot simply move it via the finder.
