Reverting Mavericks RecoveryHD partition back to the original OS version shipped

Hi all,
I'm trying to piece together various bits of information acquired through forums, web searches, etc. in the hopes of understanding the end result a bit better.
I currently have Mavericks installed in a VM - default system OS is still Mountain Lion, which is also the OS version contained in the current RecoveryHD partition.  I am thinking of removing the VM install and doing a straight system update from ML to Mavericks, which by design, would also update the RecoveryHD partition to Mavericks.
In the event that I choose to return to Mountain Lion (the OS version shipped with the machine), notwithstanding manual cloning/backup steps, would a full repartition of the internal HD (including recreating the Boot Camp partition later) allow for Internet Recovery to not only install Mountain Lion but recreate the Mountain Lion RecoveryHD as well?
Just trying to gain a clearer perspective on what may lay ahead of me should I choose to revert.
Thanks!

The problem is that that page does not actually have the 10.5.0 version of java; it has 10.4 update 6, and 10.5 update's 1 through 3; not the 10.5 original.
And, that game works just fine on PC's and Linux with either Java 5 or Java 6; it's ONLY on the mac, and apparently only on the updated mac java engines.
They consider it an Apple Java fault, not their fault.
Perhaps a better question to ask: Is the Java version that shipped on the 10.5 DvD the same as the 10.4 update 6 (in which case I can download it easily), or is it upgraded to match the 10.5 OS (in which case I can't seem to find a download/downgrade online).
(Grumble. At least Microsoft Windows updates can be uninstalled.)

  • If I restore my MacBook, will I lose software updates I've done (Snow Leopard/Mavericks) and be back to the original system (Leopard)?

I am selling my Aluminum Macbook (late 2008 model). I would like to restore it to factory settings before doing so. A few years ago I updated from Leopard to Snow Leopard, and today to Mavericks. If I restore the computer, will it go back to Leopard?? And if so, will I be able to get it back to Mavericks if I don't have the Snow Leopard CDs? Thanks.

    Weird ;-)
It looks like you did Internet recovery (i.e. command-option-R) instead of regular (command-R).
Actually, one thing that may be an issue here: Your machine is from 2008.  Machines shipping in 2011 and later got the recovery partition, and some older versions got it as well by means of a software update.  However I don't know if that update extended all the way back to machines that shipped in 2008 or not.  This could be an issue here...

  • How do I get back to the original unaltered version of a RAW file in both Bridge CC and in PS CC?

You can't do it within PS, but in ACR you can reset the defaults as shown in the attached image (click on the drop down meun just to the upper right of where the menu shows in this photo..

  • When I edit a song in itunes (i.e change the year) on purchased songs, the next time I return to itunes, the information has reverted back to the original information. How can I change that?

When I edit a song in itunes (i.e change the year) on purchased songs, the next time I return to itunes, the information has reverted back to the original information. How can I change that?
When I purchase ITunes music, and it is a song from a Greatest Hits album, the Year of the song shows the year the CD was released and not the year the song was released (i.e. a song may be from 1986, but the Greatest Hits album was released in 1999, so my songs in ITunes show 1999).    So, I go into each of those songs and change it to the year that I want to be displayed. As long as I don't exit out of ITunes, it will show the year that I changed it to (i.e. the 1986 year in this case). But if I exit out of ITunes and then return to ITunes, the year reverts back to 1999. The same happens if I change the genre of a song from, say 'Pop' to 'Alternative', it will revert back the next time I log in.
Oddly enough, as soon as I right-click on that song to change it back, the year/genre that I had entered returns.
How can I make it so my changes are permanently displayed as I want them?  This is pretty annoying when I try to find a song on my Ipod under a certain genre, but it doesn't appear in that genre because the incorrect information gets synched to the Ipod.

Make sure that these two options in Edit > Preferences > Store are turned off:
Then exit iTunes and open it up again.  Your metadata entries should then be persistent - with these options checked iTunes will be comparing what you have with the information held in the iTunes Store, and will overwrite with the latter for Store purchases (and if you have iTunes Match).  If you have any iOS devices you should also turn off Show All Music under Settings > Music.

  • I downloaded Mavericks and now when I google a topic and select I then cannot scroll back to the original google page?

I downloaded Mavericks and now when I google a topic and select one, I then cannot scroll back to the original google page if I wish to try a different answer?

Sorry, I'm not very good at describing the problem.   If I had multiple browser pages open, prior to downloading Maverick I could swipe the mouse to go back or forward as required.   Now if I google a subject and the page comes up with all the choices and I pick one, I now cannot swipe back to the first page , I have to re-open google each time, type in my seach and start from scratch.

  • How long can you revert back to the original photo after cropping?

Is there any time limit for how long can you revert back to the original photo after cropping? Are you always able to revert back?
    Thanks.

DAM = "Digital Asset Manager", a fancy name for a filing system.
iPhoto keeps the original and makes one (usually much smaller) copy based on your edits. It is non-destructive in that if you crop, and later change the color, iPhoto will go back to the original and apply the corrections to get the new image, it will not simply modify the preview.
If you want a high quality copy of the image, use the export function which allows you to specify the size and compression.

  • I rebuilt the thumbnail cache and lost all the changes and editing I had made to 4000 photos every photo reverted back to the original

A tech rebuilt my iphoto thumbnail cache and afterwards all the changes and editing of all my 4000 photos was gone!
Every phot had reverted back to the original!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED???? Why were all my changes destroyed? Where are the photos that I edited?
Also a bunch of photos disappeared. HELP!!!!!

Of course there is no reason that rebuilding a thumbnail cache would cause a loss of all editing of my photos!!! But that's what happened.
I was there when the tech rebuilt  the library and thumbnails. He held down shift & command and opened Iphoto and a window appeared with "Rebuild Photo Library" with 6 boxes to check such as
    1) Repair Iphoto Library Database
    2) Rebuild Iphoto Library Database from automatic backup
    3) Rebuild the photos' small thumbnails
    4) Rebuild all the photos'thumbnails (this may take a while)
    5) Recover orphaned photos in the Iphoto Library Folder
    6) Examine and repair IPhotoLibrary file permissions
The tech checked all boxes and after Iphoto has rebuilt everything all my editing was gone and all my photos had reverted back to their originals representing 5 years work.
There are no stuck keys on my keyboard of my computer.

  • How can I revert my audio clips that I have edited in Soundtrack Pro back to the original audio?

I edited a project in FCP6 and sent numerous audio clips to Soundtrack Pro where I sampled and removed some AC and fridge compressor
hum from some interview footage.  I'm sending the project out for professional sound mixing and they advised me to restore the original
audio to prevent the creation of artifacts when they process the sound in a different program.
Is there some way to "revert" all my clips that I edited in Soundtrack Pro back to the original audio without going back to
my original interview footage and cutting in clip by clip?  (Next time I'll save my original audio on a duplicate timeline -- live and learn!)
Thanks in advance for any helpful ideas!

What happens if duplicate the sequence, then choose one of them to use "match frame" to get back to the original clips?

  • When trying to change dns code my iPad wont remember new number. As soon as I leave that screen it reverts back to the original code. What's wrong?

How can I get dns codes to stay on the settings? The first time I changed dns codes on my iPad it remembered it fine. This lasted a week and since any code I enter gets wiped as soon as I leave the screen and goes back to the original code.

The only way to have these settings be permanent is to change from DHCP-based IP allocation to static IP allocation. If you do this the IP you specify must be outside the range of IP addresses that your router uses for DHCP.

I updated to new ios and now it is not syncing properly.  New songs are not showing up on the ipod display but when I view the device on my computer, they are in the playlist but there is a dashed circle beside the missing songs.  It previously synced perfectly before the IOS update.  How can i revert back to the previous installed version?

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.

",the owner sold the ipod without clearing the songs and since the songs were not puchased from the itunes store then i believe i now own the songs"
    Not true at all.
It does not matter where the songs came from, they are not yours and the previous owner does not own the right to distribute them to others.
The law is the same with downloads and cds and any other medium.

Buy the songs that your friend put on the iPod that you liked. They had no right to give you the copyrighted music when they sold you the device.

  • How do i change the artist view in itunes 11 back to the original view?

How do i change the artist view in itunes 11 back to the original or pre itunes 11 view?

You can't. iTunes 11 has different ways of viewing your library from earlier builds. You can restore some of the look/function of the old version by turning on the menu bar (ctrl-b), sidebar (ctrl-s) and also clicking the magnifying glass then unticking Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour.
If that isn't enough the see this post on how to roll back to iTunes 10.7.
