RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE with SAP ECC 6 Unicode

Hi All,
I am using BizTalk 2006 R2, Microsoft BizTalk Adapter v2.0 for mySAP Business Suite SP1 & SQL Server 2005 as a Database server.
In past we developed Orchestrations which were communicating with SAP version 4.7. Currently SAP has been upgraded in ECC 6(Unicode) system.
I have configured new Send Port on server. Orchestration was able to communicate with SAP ECC 6.0 (Non- Unicode) system but while trying to connect with SAP ECC 6.0 (Unicode) I am getting error.
A message sent to adapter "SAP" on send port "ECC 6 SendPort" with URI "sap://AS:**..*.*//**/" is suspended.
Error details: RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
I also installed RFC SDK 7.10 Unicode version an also set environment variables for SAP GUI tracing. Now I can execute RFC which returns CHAR value but in case of NUM data type, I am getting following error in trace file,
T:4012 Error in program 'BTSNTSvc':
>> ERROR: Import parameter length difference detected.
Read length: 7. Expected length: 0. Type: 2.
T:4012 Error in program 'BTSNTSvc': <* RfcReceive [2] : returns 19:RFC_INVALID_PARAMETER
T:4012 Error in program 'BTSNTSvc': <* RfcCallReceive [2] : returns 19:RFC_INVALID_PARAMETER
T:4012 Error in program 'BTSNTSvc': <* RfcCleanupContext [2] : returns 18:RFC_INVALID_HANDLE
T:4012 Error in program 'BTSNTSvc': <* RfcCleanupContext [2] : returns 18:RFC_INVALID_HANDLE
Thanks in advance.

Hi Pankaj,
please note that there are metadata length differences between non-Unicode and Unicode systems.
This has to be taken into account if you have hardcoded the length in the used connector.
Please also have a look at the RFCSDK Guide:

  • Using Data Integrator with SAP ECC 6.0

    Hi,
We're currently using Data Integrator Version 11.7.2.3.  Our primary data source is SAP R3 version 4.7   We're planning to upgrade to ECC 6.0.
I'm trying to determine if it will be necessary to upgrade Data Integrator also.  Can anyone tell me if Data Integrator Version 11.7.2.3 is compatible with SAP ECC 6.0?
I'm sure there is a document somewhere but I have been unable to find it.
    Thanks,
    Mark Duff

Data Integrator 11.7.2.x is compatible with ECC6. Depending on which platform you're using, here are the documents that give this information:
    [Linux|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/a00aad14-ac3e-2b10-3b85-8208305073b1&overridelayout=true]

You should keep in mind, however, that Data Integration 11.7.x mainstream maintenence end date is June 2010. Because of that, you may want to consider upgrading to Data Services XI 3.0 or 3.1.

  • SAP PI FTP sender adapter not working with SAP ECC over Itanium

    Hi,
We have been running normally SAP PI 7.0 SP14 with no issue for a while.
We are now in the process of migrate the SAP ECC system from PA risc to IA platform. We are performing some tests between SAP PI and SAP ECC to check that the platform migration is not affecting us in any way and we have found that FTP adapter sender is not working anymore (receiver is working as usual).
We place some files in the new ECC system and when PI goes to retreive the files it is like it can not read anything. It gives no error but it does not pick any file. This is not happening with the old platform.
    Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks a lot for your help

  • Getting No rights error in Crystal Reports connection with SAP ECC 6

I am ABAP/BI developer and would like to work in Crystal Reports 2011. Currently, We have SAP ECC 6 and BI 7 set up. I have installed trial version of Crystal Reports 2011.
I am getting error while trying to create blank report in Crystal Reports:
Create New Connection -> SAP Tables.. -> entered SAP Development server user id and password -> following error message :
    LOGON failed
Details : You do not have necessary rights to design reports against the SAP system. Please check with your system administrator.
My user id has all rights in development server.  So, is any special rights require? OR do we have to install any patch for Crystal Reports at SAP level?
    Please guide me.

    Hi,
To be able to report off an SAP data source in Crystal Reports, request the SAP Administrator to set the appropriate authorizations for the user.
For a list of authorizations that are necessary for each type of SAP connection, consult the document:
BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Installation Guide
In the "Authorizations" chapter, there is a description of each authorizations needed for each type of connection and actions.
( The document is attached to this SAP Knowledge Base Article in the attachment section )
In addition to the authorizations specified in the SAP Integration Kit Installation Guide, the following authorizations are required:
For Authorization object: S_RFC with Field name: RFC_Name. According to the installation guide the values should be: SYST, /CRYSTAL/OPENSQL
Additionally you will need the value: SUSR as well.
For Authorization object: ZSEGREPORT with field name: ACTVT. According to the installation guide the value is: 02 (Change)
Additionally you will need the value: 01 (Create or generate) as well.
    Thank you.

  • Org management (integration with SAP ECC 6) and shopping cart approval

    Background:
We currently use EBP 3.0 - Classic Scenario.
Our current Organisational plan was manually created in EBP, and is not the same as the HR hierarchy in SAP ECC 6
Shopping cart approvals use the workflow WS10000276 u2013 Approval Single Level over Limit, which utilises the SLAPPROVER attribute. The user name assigned to the SLAPPROVER attribute does not have to be the manager of the user. To meet our Business requirements, a fairly flat structure was created at the time we implemented EBP 3.0. The approval level an approver is allowed to approve up to is controlled with the use of roles assigned to a user.  Each of the approval roles has an appropriate value set against the BBP_APPROVAL_LIMIT attribute under Personalisation.
    Moving onu2026
We are just about to move from EBP 3.0 to SRM 7.0 u2013 Classic Scenario - by carrying out a new installation.
Our Business requirement has changed, in that they want the approval of shopping carts to be carried out by the line manager, if that person can approve the value of the shopping cart. If not, for the approval to go up the HR hierarch until a manager with a suitable level of approval is found.
I believe it is possible to create the Organisational structure in SRM from the HR hierarchy in SAP ECC 6. I have tried to do this in our play/test system using - Integration Business Partner-Organizational Management, without much success as yet!
I have a few questions in this area:
    1.     Not all of the users in the SAP ECC 6 HR hierarchy will be SRM users. E.g. In the SAP
hierarchy there are 3 users u2013 User A, User B and User C. User B is the manager of User
A and User C is the manager of user B. In SRM only User A and User C are users. That
being the case, is it still possible to initially create the organisational in SRM from SAP ECC6?
    2.     If it is possible to create the organisational structure as described, then using Process
Controlled Workflow we could use the Shopping Cart BC Set One-step manager approval.
If we did this, what would be the best way to incorporate the approval limit of a manager?
Can this be simply achieved by setting the BBP_APPROVAL_LIMIT attribute in conjunction
with the One step manager approval?
We want to avoid having to use the SLAPPROVER attribute due to the high level of
                 maintenance we currently experience.
Thanks to anyone who can advise me.

  • SAP Businness connector 4.6 - post SAP ECC Unicode convertion

    Hi,
after Unicode convertion of our ECC 6.0 system, SAP Bussiness connector create XML file with encoding UTF-16 (in the past was iso-8859-1). Our custom applictions, that read this .XML files, can't process this files with UTF.16 until we have manualy change from UTF-16 to UTF-8 or iso-8859-1
    Now:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
    In the past:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
Can I set into Businness Connector right encoding?
    Regards.

    Hi,
    >You can try to uncheck the Unicode settings in the RFC destination in SAP (transaction SM59) and see how the content arrives >then. But if I remember correctly, this does also not produce the desired effect in BC (receive in iso-8859-1).
    already try it without success.
    >Apart from that, I see no other option than change the encoding via a BC service or to change the encoding on the application >which receives the FTP file.
    OK.

  • Design Approach for 1:N Multimapping scenario with SAP ECC Receiver

    Hi Experts,
I am trying to find the best approach to implement the following scenario. its desribed as follows:
Legacy Database ->XI ->  SAP scenario.
    1. Pick records from database table with status ='n'
    2. The records picked can have one or more RefNos i.e. if 2000 records are picked 1500 can have RefNo :1111 and rest 500 RefNo: 2222
    3. 1st condition is to split the records into multiple messages if reference nos are different, so for scenario in point 2 it will be 2 messages. Secondly if the no of records are more than 1000 then split further into 2 message. So 1500 Ref No would be split into messages with 1000 and 500 records. Hence we get 3 messages. I know something similar was achieved in this blog:
    </people/claus.wallacher/blog/2006/06/29/message-splitting-using-the-graphical-mapping-tool
    4. Once the data is forwarded to ECC and its successfully updated, we need to update the status of the database table on the sender side to 'y';
So the point where i am not very clear as of now is,
    1. What alternative I choose for PI-> ECC call? Its a 1:N multimapping split scenario and as far as I know the call has to go via AE, so is RFC the only option or is there a way to have a call with Proxy/IDOC? Or will there be an option to limit such a scenario at the JDBC Adapter level so that split is not needed. I am not sure if that can be achieved and is a better solution.
    2. If I go for either of the approaches mentioned above, what is the best way to achieve point 4, i.e. update the database table at the sender. As JDBC Adapter would be async and hence we either use a Aysnc-Sync bridge(for proxy/rfc receiver) or some other option like triggering a outbound interface from SAP side with the update data?
Hope that experts can provide the inputs on the best way forward.Let me know if anything is missing from scenario details perspective.
    Best Regards,
    Pratik

    Pratik,
    2. If I go for either of the approaches mentioned above, what is the best way to achieve point 4, i.e. update the database table at the sender. Use the solution # 2, make it like this:-
DB (async) -> PI -> Proxy (sync) -> PI -> DB (async)
Just out of curiosity, why you breaking the records into 1000's in PI? Why not you select only 1000 records when polling the DB? That will help in improving the overall performance.

    Hi Gavin,
you should always use the SQL EE for SAP installations (because of additional features that only come with EE).
Concerning SQL 9 or SQL 10, I would definitely go for SQL 10. It has some nice features like Backup Compression, Page/Row Compression and so on. Have a look [here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/60a236a2-8104-2b10-5ebe-8fef61cc82fd]. Just make sure that your installation meets the SR3 requirements.
We already have SQL 10 in production and did not encounter any problems.

  • Integrating SAP ECC 6.0 with Microsoft Windows 2003 Active Directory

    Hi Gurus,
We are planning to integrate our SAP ECC 6.0 with Microsoft Windows 2003 Active directory.
I have several questions on this:
    1. Can i authenticate all the users from SAP
    2. It is used only for user authentication or can it be also used for password authentication
ie user can login using his windows password?
    3. While integration in SAP does a separate table or a field is created in database.
4.If a employee leaves a company than in SAP is it possible to lock & deactivate the user automatically.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mastek,
You should be able to accomodate your needs with respect to integration of your AD accounts with SAP ECC ABAP. This can be done via LDAP connector configuration. The below has info on how to perfrom the configuration at a high level. You will have to integrate, and map certain user data. You may also want to do some LDAP Connector research:
On the Java stack - you can also confugure UME to integrate/authenticate with AD:

  • Reg SAP ECC

    Hi friends!!
SAP ECC professional its any functional consultant... like PP,CRM
I dont now about SAP ECC .. its version r some functional consultant

An upgrade to the latest release, SAP ECC(Enterprise central component)6.0, lands you on SAPu2019s new software-delivery roadmap. This is the u201Cgo-tou201D release for all customers currently on SAP R/3. From now on, all new functional enhancements to ERP through 2010 (when the next major synchronized release for SAP applications will take place) will be made available as optional enhancement packages for SAP ECC 6.0. Since all enhancements will be enterprise SOA-based, you must be on an enterprise SOA-enabled core (SAP ECC 6.0/SAP NetWeaver 7.0) to use them. The upgrade to SAP ECC 6.0 gets you to an enterprise SOA lifestyle; preparation for it is key. It also begins to highlight your needs for enterprise SOA components (for example, portals, middleware or service bus, development tools, and service repositories).
Must you upgrade to SAP ECC 6.0? Eventually, yes, but some customers are taking it in stages. Theyu2019re using SAP ECC 5.0. Some have upgraded to SAP R/3 4.7 as an interim solution:
Upgrading from R/3 4.6 to R/3 4.7 avoids extended maintenance fees for a while. Other reasons to go to R/3 4.7 are the ease of the upgrade (no new technology) and the ability to handle the migration with in-house staff (no new skills but additional time on the maintenance clock needed).
Upgrading to SAP ECC 5.0 instead of SAP ECC 6.0 is more typical. With SAP ECC 5.0, you donu2019t need to update to the Unicode database. If you upgrade to SAP ECC 6.0, you need to address the Unicode database conversion, so you have two upgrades to consider.
The complexity of the decision-making process stems from balancing your appetite for technical evolution and innovation with your ability to justify the migration. The SAP ECC 6.0 migration is the most challenging yet, but any release lower than SAP ECC 6.0 compromises your ability to use the enhancement packages and the full functionality of SAP NetWeaver.
Both R/3 4.7 and SAP ECC 5.0 are Unicode-compatible (but not Unicode-required), so you could upgrade ERP first and later upgrade the database to Unicode. But SAP skipped SAP ECC 5.0 for some industry solutions, so SAP ECC 6.0 became the de facto standard.
