RH 6 - Temp files on server can be deleted to free up space?

The temp folder on our production server is filling up and I'm
wondering whether it is ok for us to delete any of these files.  There are some files from 2009 there.
The folder location is “C:\WINDOWS\Temp” and some of the files are named like JETFD8A.tmp, JETF5D3.tmp, etc.
Can I delete these files or at least the old ones (older than today)?  Will the server or any services need to be restarted if I do?
Help appreciated.

I'm not seeing the connection with RoboHelp.

  • Once the iDVD is burned, what can I delete to free up space without compromising the integrity of the dvd

Once the iDVD is burned, what can I delete to free up space?  I tried deleting the iMovie events and projects, but then the iDVD would no longer play because it said the movie contents or link was not available.  I was under the impression that once I saved the iDVD that the associated video was saved in that file, not a link to an iMovie event and project.  Can somebody help?  Now I have to find the original footage, re-edit it in iMovie, and start the whole iDVD process over because I deleted the iMovie project and events.

Hmmm, did you actually burn a DVD from the project?

  • Adobe Reader leaving temp files, which are not auto-deleting.

Adobe reader is leaving temp files all over and I can't delete them. The temp files are left in my "My Documents" folder, which is redirected to the server. Anytime I open a PDF, it leaves a temp file (ie:U17F7.tmp) and it does not auto-delete. The temp files are 0 bytes in size, just really annoying when my folders get cluttered with all these temp files.  I also cannot delete the files, because it says the location is incorrect. I am able to delete the temp files when I'm not connected to the company network. How do I get these temp files to remove themselves once I close out of Adobe Reader?  This is driving me crazy!

    Hi burdurboy05
What is the version of reader that you're using?
Are you trying to print files ?
Did you try to uninstall and re-install the product?

  • What can I delete to free up more disk space?

I have backed up on my time machine and have deleted all video and some books? but I still didn't free up very much room. when I check Get Info I have a capacity of 79.55 GB and have used 78.7 GB and have available 844.6 MB. I don't know what else I can safely delete?

How much space did the videos/books take up that you deleted? It's possible that the system hasn't recognized that the space they occupied is now free. A reset or complete shutdown will usually fix that.
If you are truly left with only 844 MB after deleting everything that you absolutely have to have on the drive then it might be time for a drive upgrade, but lets see if we can figure something else out first.
I see you said you deleted videos and books, so my next question is what files do you have that are taking up so much space?
Many files can be kep on an external drive for access when necessary, even iTunes music files (which for people like myself can take up a ridiculous amount of space.)
Let us know what sort of files/programs you're working with and we can go from there.

  • HT4915 I'm using iTunes Match and cloud to save space on my iPad. It is now full and it is mostly music data that is filling it. What can I do to free up space?

What can I do to free up space? Is this Match saving songs I've listened to on this device? Can I just delete the music data?

Yes.  It will save songs as they're played.  At some point, older songs will start being removed to make room for new ones as they're played.  Exactly when this happens isn't documented.  If you want to free up the space now, you can delete all the music by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music, swipe across All Music and tap Delete.

  • HT201250 How can I determine which Time Machine backups can be deleted to free space on my backup device?

Time Machine keeps hourly backups for the past 24 hours, daily backups for the past month, and weekly backups.
But are they all incremental or full backups?
How can I determine which can be deleted to free space on my backup device?
    Thanks.

    Thanks.
So, if TimeMachine only makes one full backup the first time a backup is taken, and then automatically removes backups as space is needed, is there a danger that there can come a point where no single restore point exists?
I find Apple's lack of detail around this topic disappointing. It's such an important thing.
I guess TimeMachine doesn't work quite how I want it too. Seems to be true of so many Apple products!

  • Are my MP3 File Duplicate and can I delete the duplicates

I have just bought an iPOd and started to use iTunes. I went to FILE and ADD FOLDER which then copied all my MP3's into the My Music/iTunes Folder which iTunes created. Now the question is are these files copied accross to the new iTunes location and if so can I delete them from the original location to save disk space etc (there is over 30GB of MP3's).
Also, as the iTunes folder has been craeted on my Prmary Drive (C:\My Documents\My Music.....) is it possible to move all these fules to me second hard drive which is where I store my music, video's etc and ifd so how do I tell iTunes and iPod that is where they are and that is where the synchronisation needs to be.
Sorry if these are simple questions but I am new to this and the Help file in my iTunes does not work hence I am stubbling around in the dark so to speak.
Intel   Windows XP Pro   It's getting old now

"Now the question is are these files copied accross to the new iTunes location and if so can I delete them from the original location to save disk space etc"
If you had "Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" checked in Edit>Preferences>Advanced>General when you created your iTunes library then you can delete the originals from the folder you added them from.
"as the iTunes folder has been craeted on my Prmary Drive (C:\My Documents\My Music.....) is it possible to move all these fules to me second hard drive which is where I store my music, video's etc and ifd so how do I tell iTunes and iPod that is where they are and that is where the synchronisation needs to be."
Yes it is, see this guide: Moving your iTunes Music Folder

  • Copy doesn't work and creates zero bytes files that I can't delete.

After installing Yosemite (I am now using version 10.10.1) I had problems copying files.
Sometimes (not always) it doesn't copy files from a folder to another using the simple cmd-c cmd-v procedure. Even if both folders are on the desktop. It creates many empty files (white icons, zero bytes) named as my files, but the copy isn't happening.
The main problem is that I cannot delete the files anyhow. If they are in a folder I can delete the whole folder and empty the trash.
It doesn't happen everytime, but yesterday I had the same problem copying a few videos to the desktop and I can't get rid of them (because I obviously can't delete the desktop folder...).
Can anybody help me? I need to be able to delete those zero bytes files that are now on my desktop.
I tried to drag them into a folder but it wouldn't let me. As well, I tried to copy the same files to the desktop to see if they disappeared, but the new files copied were renamed with 2 (ex. I had the zero byte file called IMG_0705.MOV on my desktop. I tried to paste the same file and it appeared named as IMG_0705 2.MOV).
I don't know what to do...
    Thanks

Take it to an Apple store or AASP. How much it will cost will depend on their determination of the problems. To bad you didn't purchase extended AppleCare. No you don't get your money back for purchasing Lion.

  • HT201210 Trying to restore a new iphone 4 to files from an iphone 3, however, the restore says it can't complete because there isn't enough space.  I would like to delete photos and music files.  How can I delete these photos?

After doing the initial restore function, I'm trying to delete phots from the system.  The itures instructions says to click the photos button the unselect photos or albums, but see no photos button.  How can I delete the photos to gain some storage space?

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

  • Time Machine with OSX Server; what happened to the free disk space?

    Hello all,
I am trying to do something that should be pretty simple. I have an iMac, with Mountain Lion and Server installed. My wife has a Mac Air. The goal was to get her to Time Machine backup through the wifi to my external hardrive. I think it is working, but here is the small catch. Last night, while getting it all going, it was saying "making buckup disk ready" through the night until now. Now it is actually doing the backup normally, i.e. I can see the data transferring. BUT, here is the question, in the mean time the external hardrive lost about 300gb of space which is the size of MY iMac backup. So I hope that when I turned on Time Machine it dosnt back up one time as my computer and another as a server. That may not make any sence at all.
Here is a screen shot of my external hardrive:
636.33 GB, before yesterday it was half that. But my wife's hardrive is 100 GB of Data.
Just a note, I had my hardrive wiped clean the other day before Mountain Lion was installed, and I have a "carbon copy" from before that on another hardrive. Can I delete the backup of MY machine and start over?
Thanks, I hope this is clear.
    Best,
    Justin
