Ricoh Aficio MP C2051 Scan to Folder - Windows Server 2012 Error: Authentication with the destination has failed check settings

I have recently upgraded a clients servers to Windows Server 2012 & since doing so have lost the ability to scan to folder.
Both servers are domain controllers and previously on a 2008 domain controller I would have had to make the following change to allow scan to folder:
 Administrative Tools
 Server Manager
 Features
 Group Policy Manager
 Forest: ...
 Default Domain Policy
Computer configuration
 Policies
 Windows Settings
 Security Settings
 Local Policies
 Security Options
Microsoft Network Server: Digitally Sign Communications (Always)
 - Define This Policy
 - Disabled
However I have applied this to the Windows 2012 server but am still unable to scan, possibly due to added layers of security in server 2012. The error on the scanner is Authentication with the destination has failed check settings.
I have also tried the following at the server:
Policies -> Security Policies
Change Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level to: Send LM & NTLM - Use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated.
Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) clients and uncheck the require 128 bit.
Network security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP based (including secure RPC) servers and uncheck the require 128 bit
I have created a user account on the server for the ricoh and set this in the settiings of the Ricoh and verified everything is correct.
Are there any other things I have missed?

I can email anybody the firmware module if interested and how to...

    Hi,
I searched for the error and it is mentioned in Ricoh's website:

“Authentication with the destination has failed. Check settings. To check the current status, press [Comm. Status/Print].”
The entered login user name or login password is not correct.
Check that the user name and password are correct.
Check that the ID and password for the destination folder are correct.
A password of 128 or more characters may not be recognized.
From the solution, it mentioned that the issue could relate to user account or its password.
Please let me know if it is in domain environment. If so, please test to log the same user account currently on Windows 7 to Windows XP and see if issue persists.
Also please test to directly access the scanning folder on printer server to see if there is any issue in accessing the destination folder.

  • How to install windows server 2012 r2 without remove the current windows 8.1

how to install windows server 2012 r2 without remove the current windows 8.1

Use guide below to convert it to 'basic' disk, or install windows on another drive. The supported way is to delete all partitions and convert it to a basic disk.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755238.aspx
However, your windows 8.1 must be on another drive?, as windows cannot boot from a dynamic disk.

    FYI

Hi Susan.  I hope there's a better 'fix' coming to replace this "uninstall the updates, restore, then reinstall the updates after the restore".  This kind of workaround requires that all of us remember that there's a problem
with KB3023562 and KB3004375 from now until the end of WS2012E.  Not sure I'll remember this 6 months from now when the problem crops up during a restore.   -:(

  • SSRS 2012 - Windows Server 2012 R2 issue with OLEDB Connection String

Hoping someone can help. As stated above, we are running SQL Server 2012 with SP1 on Windows Server 2012 R2. When I create a Data Source as follows in Reporting Services, I receive the following error message. Any thoughts on why this fails? The same data

    Hi ABAA101,
According to your description, when you use csv file as data source in SSRS 2012 report, you got the error message.
I tested the issue in my local machine, due to some policy restrictions, I could not install Access in my local machine. To workaround the issue, we can use the connection string like below:
    Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\\report;
    Extended Properties="text;HDR=Yes;FMT=Delimited"
The csv file is stored in report folder in C driver.
In Query text box in the dataset, we can use the query like below:
    Select * from new.csv
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Unable to add File Server Resource Manager Tools on Windows Server 2012 - Errors on restart and roll back install

Unable to install Windows Server 2012 Feature -  [Tools] File Server Resource Manager Tools.
Installs, however when I restart the server error messages appears saying feature unable to install, windows reverting changes.
In the Setup event logs have the following information message "Update FSRM-Infrastructure of package FSRM-All failed to be turned on. Status: 0x800f0922"
Does anyone have any idea's on why this Feature can not be installed ??
    Scott

    Hi Shaun
Tried both of your suggestions, however neither strategy worked.
    Strategy 1
Tried installing via powershell - "install-windowsfeature -name fs-resource-manager -includemanagementtools"
Feature un-installed itself during the restart.
Attempted to use the command "DISM /online /remove-feature /featurename:FSRM-Infrastructure-Services".  However
this did work because one the Service was'nt installed or two because there was no command option for "/remove-feature"

    Strategy 2
Tried installing via powershell, using the following command DISM
/online /enable-feature /featurename:FSRM-Infrastructure-Services, however got the same result, the install backed out during the restart.
All up back to where I started?

  • Windows Server 2012: SMB share with transparent failover

Have a nice day to all!
I have 2 HP Proliant DL380P Gen8 servers containing 8 x 1TB disks (with P420i HP Smart Array RAID Controller) in each server.
So, there are 2 arrays on every server:
    1. 2 x 1TB in RAID1 (+1 disk for hot swap) - system volume
    2. 5 x 1TB in RAID5 (+1 disk for hot swap) - data volume
And I installed Windows Server 2012 Standard on each server.
    Than I created a failover two-nodes cluster.
And now I want to create a SMB share with transparent failover for all the second (data) volume (it's about 3.3TB in RAID5 array). How just can I reach this goal? I'm going to use it in future for Hyper-V VMs, so, the main reqirement is powered-on and working
VMs even if one node of SMB share cluster is failed.
I wasn't able to see my volumes in failover cluster manager. I tried to create iSCSI targets, storage pools, virtual disks, etc. but no luck. My failover cluster manager can't see it to create SMB share!
    Can anyone advice me something?
    Thanks in advance!

You need to have your storage you want to export as being a shared storage visible to your cluster (part of CSV). Then you'll configure failover file shares using content accessible from both cluster nodes. Refer to this manual for diagrams (ignore StarWind
and replace it logically with your existing shared storage you've used to create your cluster):
    http://www.starwindsoftware.com/configuring-ha-file-server-on-windows-server-2012-for-smb-nas
Also see these manuals from MS on how to create failover file server:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753969.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731844(v=ws.10).aspx
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2010/08/19/working-with-file-shares-in-windows-server-2008-r2-failover-clusters.aspx
However if you want to use existing storage located on the both nodes you're out of luck. Microsoft does not provide anything representing local DAS to the cluster nodes. If you want to use existing DAS then you'll have to stick with a third-party product
like StarWind, SteelEye or DataCore. To create something like in this picture:
So you'll have a configuration with only two nodes, no physical shared hardware (SAS JBOD, FC or iSCSI) and vSAN. Refer to this manual:
    http://www.starwindsoftware.com/ns-configuring-ha-file-server-for-smb-nas
    Hope this helped :)

  • Running two instances of Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2 on the same domain

We have Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2 running as a domain controller -- and have installed another licensed copy of the same thing on the same domain.  We want to use the 2nd server for running an LOB application and provide backup for the
    AD services.
The 2nd server is a member of the domain. Can I do this and have the 2nd server provide AD failover services like they do with 2012 Standard?

Two things to consider. In the XP and 2003 era, the OS was not written in a security-first fashion. While XP did have LUA, almost nobody used them. Then came Vista and UAC, and those prompts were a major pain point because nobody wrote for security. Fast
forward 6 years and standard accounts are a normal best practice. Almost nobody in business recommends running daily tasks as administrator.
I mention all this to illustrate that, similar to admin accounts, what you used to get away with no longer applies. Running LOB apps on a DC is just bad. Many times, the app just doesn't work. But even if you could get it to work, it is a terrible idea.
If the stories of Home Depot, Target, and most recently Sony don't already give it away, I'll spell it out. We no longer live in an age where you can take shortcuts and expect to be safe. Large organizations make national news when they screw up. But small
businesses are targeted just as often and are at just as much risk. From "leaking" their client info to having their data held for ransom, the small business is abused regularly, but never makes national news because they are, by definition, small.
If you can take simple easy steps to help minimize that risk, such as keeping a domain controller free of other software and locked down, then it is almost unethical to do Otherwise in the modern computing era. The world ha changed. It is our responsibility
as I.T professionals to change with it. That's why we get to call ourselves "professionals" in relation to I.T.
So, what bad things? Risking the customer's very livelihood. I consider that pretty darn bad.

  • Renaming Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller with Exchange Server 2013

Is it possible to rename Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller, as we are using Exchange Server 2013 as a member server on Windows Server 2012 ?
We have some issues with the Domain Name, so want to rename..
Maybe somebody knows the best practices how to do this in best way???
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    You should do the following:
    1. Promote another DC.
    2. Transfer FSMO roles to that server.
    3. Decommission old DC.
    4. Rename it.
    5. Promote it again as DC.

Can you please someone help me to narrow down the root cause of this issue and how to avoid this issue in the future.

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I analyses the the MEMORY.DMP using the WinDbg. Provided the debug output below. Will this help you to narrow down the root cause and let me know if any similar issue faced by someone else.

  • RemoteFX Windows Server 2012 RC - None of the GPUs on this computer support RemoteFX

No matter what I've tried, I cannot enable RemoteFX on Server 2012. When I open Hyper-V Manager, right-click on Hyper-V Settings, and click on Physical GPUs, I see the message:
"None of the physical graphics processing units (GPUs) on this computer support RemoteFX. Use of RemoteFX 3D adapter requires at lease one physical GPU that supports RemoteFX."
I'm using a computer with an i7 processor, 6GB RAM, and a Nvidia Quadro FX 4800. Also, I have an ASUS motherboard with
no on-board video. Here are some of the things I've done:
Installed RDS using Quick Start, Virtual-desktop install
Installed the latest Windows 8 drivers of Quadro 4800. (Also tried the Server 2008 drivers at one point.)
Installed the Remote Desktop Session Host (which for some reason doesn't install when you use the RDS wizard)
I've tried reinstalling the OS numerous times.
Tried a different graphic card (Nvidia GeForce 260). The card is ~4 years old, but I got it working with RemoteFX on Server 2008. Once I tried it with Server 2012, it didn't work.
    One more observation:
An article I read says that server must support VM Monitor Mode Extensions, SLAT extensions, virtualization enabled and
DEP which can be found in the System Information app. When I first install the OS, these fields are marked as
Yes, but once I install Hyper-V (separately or using the RDS install wizard), these fields disappear and are replaced by the text: A hypervisor has been detected. Features required for Hyper-V will not be displayed. In
the article, it says this text is usually an indication that the machine that the OS is installed on is virtual. Not sure if this is actually an issue.
I feel like I'm missing something really simple. Like I said, I've gotten RemoteFX working on Server 2008.
    Thanks.

the card is dx11 compatible and has been for the last 6-7 months

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 Backups have the wrong time

Because of serious problems with Server 2012R2 and the fact it activates without permission and support is absolute garbage, I made Windows Server Backups at various stages of the install so I would not have to start the install again from scratch,
however the times of the backups when attempting a restore are around 11 hours earlier than the time they where actually made and the time of creation that is shown in the Windows Backup program.

    Hi,
I’m a little unclear about your question. Would you please give an example of the issue?
In additional, please check if the thread below is helpful.
