Right align page numbers that are to the left of TOC entries

I posted a similar question about a year ago that I believe Harbs or Peter answered, but darned if I can find the thread. At that time they provided a script that did a GREP search, finding a sentence that starts with a digit and replacing it with a tab. I still have the script, but for some reason it is not working correctly with my new TOC layout.It should insert a tab to the left of the page number (page numbers are to the left of the TOC entries), and force the numbers to right align so that a single digit page number right aligns with the right edge of a double-digit page number.
Find: ^(\d+)
Change to: \t$1
What happens in the new TOC is the script finds a digit and inserts a tab to the left of the page number. The page numbers move to the right, but they don't right align. They are further to the right, but they numbers themselves are still left aligned.
I'm mystified as to why the script doesn't work on this new layout. I'm using CS4 now, and it still works on the old layout. There is nothing terribly different about the new layout except that the column is much narrower, and there are several threaded colums in the TOC instead of one long column, and the chapter titles don't have page numbers (but all other entries do have page numbers.)

Thanks for your reply. Between the page number and the entry is an en-space.

There are several people who might want to use Thunderbird on a work computer but I don't like how everyone's email files are open to public view. It looks like anyone can see emails without having to login to another person's account.

Use different Windows user accounts for each person, and set-up Thunderbird for each person's email account underneath the respective Windows account.
It is very easy to switch between Windows user accounts, and multiple people can be logged in simultaneously.

I have a new wireless apple keyboard. I can only delete items that are to the left of the cursor using the delete key. What key do I use to delete items that are to the right side of the cursor? I have only one delete key.
My old apple wired keyboard has 2 delete keys that enabled me to easly delete data on either side of the cursor.

Problem E-Mailing Pages documents that are...

Hello-
I use gmail for my e-mail server. I am trying to e-mail some Pages docs that are on the desktop. When I click "Attach" and the window comes up, go to "Desktop" and all the Desktop icons show up except the Pages documents are not highlighted like all other pdf, etc. docs are. Unable to attach Pages docs to an e-mail?
Anybody have an help? Novice here but want to learn more.

Control-click the documents, compress or archive them, and attach the zips. iWork documents are packages, not single files, and can't be attached directly.

It has always been that the upgrade tries to be the "master" over the older version.
Anyway in Pages 09 you have probably the Comments field showing, making all contetn to move to the right.
Go to View menu > Hide Comments.

You may have to try a general OS X troubleshooting process to see if the issue goes away by doing this...
Have you tried: starting the computer in SafeBoot mode, with shift key held down; a login screen should appear after a time, and then the regular desktop. At this point, locate Disk Utility in utilities folder, and run 'repair disk permissions' on the startup volume, usually the name given the hard disk drive as it appears on desktop. After Disk Utility is finished the permissions repair, restart the computer normally.
...The iTunes player has free support only through the duration of the hardware product's complementary or AppleCare extended plan coverages, so though you can download a newer version, that is not the same as free support for an issue. However, the iTunes Store or App Store has a different factor for their product.

There is an iTunes area in Apple Support Community discussions for more topics like this; except for when they involve a hardware product where an OS X is involved. If your computer is NOT a powerPC (an 'intel'-mac) the topic would more naturally need to be posted where that hardware and later supported OS X version topics get seen. So that is why one asks 'on what Mac running what version...' instead of writing four paragraphs in a wide angle reply. The details about your iMac and the OS X say more; without them, more questions arise.

I encountered a problem with some client machines that use Firefox version 24ESR and IE8.
Ajax requests of aspx pages from Firefox are getting the following error from the iis server (iis version 7.5):
Bad Request - Request Too Long
HTTP Error 400. The size of the request headers is too long.
From analyzing the request that was sent to the server, I saw that the request consist of only the viewstate of the aspx page.
I tried to disable the viewstate for one page and the server got the request correctly.
I do not encounter any issues on these laptops with postback requests from Firefox or when running the same application with IE8.

Sometimes that means that the page address sent is loo long.
Check the link address you are using.
I can't help you further and will send for more help.

Right-align footnote numbers

Is there a way to right-align footnote numbers so that they will align like this:

instead of like this (an abomination):

The obvious way would seem to be to add a tab as prefix (in Document Footnote Options|Numbering and Formatting) and set the tab as right-aligned in the paragaph style, but the dialog will not accept a tab (^t).
I can't see any way to set the alignment in the para style options either.
At the moment I use three paragraph styles Fn #, Fn ## and Fn ### with varying indents, but it’s cumbersome and unreliable having to reassign styles when footnotes are added or deleted.

In 2006-2007 I converted 32 publications from Ventura to InDesign. From 200 pages to 3,200 pages. I feel your pain. Ventura was a crazy program. I was updating things in Ventura. I'd save it and go home and then the next day half the book (not the changes just literally half the text from the book) had disappeared. Gone. So frustrating.
Regarding indexing:
We outsourced our indexing to an indexer, we just gave him/her a pdf of the book and we a got an index back.
Similar to yourself, it has cases and statutes in all the books. So I've never really used the indexing feature, I have ledt that to a pro indexer. Hopefully someone else can you point you on that.
But if you need any more help converting from Ventura to InDesign let me know. I did a lot of automating of the books, chapter numbers, pages, numbered paragraphs, TOCs etc.
My proudest moment was using GREP to apply styles to the 3,200 page book. I opened all the chapters and applied master pages with variables for running heads (as they changed each page (cs3 came along just at the right time ). I then proceeded to GREP find and replace millions of text across literally thousands of pages. I applied all the styles to all the text in the right places in 2 days. It then took me 2 weeks to proofread my new document. Which had a few hic-ups but sorted quite easily.
So hopefully my little success story will inspire you some how.

How do I include those empployee numbers that are not 8 digits?

My script currently doesn't find those employee numbers that are NOT 8 digits (some emp nos are 6, 7, 9) when doing comparisons. I've tried LPAD but it still doesn't find. Can anybody suggest a reason for this? I can post my whole script if you want but basically it doesn't match record in my temp table (SU_TEMPLOYEE_DETAILS):

The Employee Number is 7 digits long (0000016). But I need the script to match its record where it may be 000016 or 00000016 in Production. Is this possible? I would like to use the TRIM Function here rather than a simple LPAD (with hard coded length) especially if the length of the column std_employee number varies based on the leading zeroes. Something like:

Change Font in Master pages so that it changes the rest of the template?

I cannot change my font in the Master pages so that it effect the rest of the template. I would have to go through each of the page and change the font. I just want the body paragraph a certain font and I don't know how to do that. I don't know if I explained my question well enough.

go to page panel, and select all page that you want to apply a mater page items, mouse right click select Apply Master to Pages
Next select the Master page to apply

Common localhost numbers that are good to be aware of (like localhost:631)?

I had a problem where I couldn't clear several print jobs and I found a solution whereby I logged in to http://localhost:631/ and I was able to delete the print jobs there.
Are there other common localhost numbers that are good to know, especially when trouble shooting problems?
