RM-900 and Windows Media Cen

Can I use the old remote-control RM-900 (came with Audigy Platinum) as a remote-control for Windows Media Center?

Absolutely....just search around these forums and you will find your answer. That is all I am allowed to say.

I'm completely confused. I'm sure I have a SB Li've 5., but my Windows Media Center says I have a Li've Value. The Model is CT4760.
In either case, I'm trying to get Optical Audo to work with 5.. I can get 2 channels out of Optical Audio, but no more. The Creative software only gives me the options for headphones, 2 speakers and 4 speakers. With 4 speakers selected I still only hear 2. No where do I see an option for 5. or to allow AC3 passthrough.
I used this card before with a Linux system and I had 5. working just fine. Am I missing something? Do I not have a Li've 5. card? Am I installing the wrong thing? I downloaded the driver install from here, so I assume its correct. Media Center installs it's own if I don't use that, and it's also for the Value card.
    Thanks for any help,
    GamersCloset

CT4760 is actually..a 4 channel sound card (therefore, I think that's why Windows Media Center Editin detects it as Value card) But it does have 5. Digital Output (not analog)
I don't have hands on experience with MCE with me, but try this.
Go to 'Volume Control' in Accessories, click on Options and turn on 'Advanced Options'
There should be an 'Advanced' Button at the bottom of the master volume slider.
Click that and select "Digital Output Only"
Otherwise, you'll have to try to install the right drivers. Its definitely not SB Li've 5.
But since you are using Digital speakers, I dont think you have to worry too much.

Ok this is for all of you that have Windows Media Player (WMP ) and can't get your album art to be displayed.
    Go here
Support (You will see this near the top of your screen in the orange bar)
    2 Software AutoUpdate
3 Accept (this will only work I you player is connected tour computer)
4 You will now be told what device you have connected on your computer
5 Check Update (this may take a couple of minute even with broadband)
    And Download this
[size="">5. Creative Media Explorer Update for Creative ZEN Vision:M? (4.49 MB)?? 29 Nov 06????? Download Now[/b]
[size="">This update resolves compatibility issues between Creative Media Explorer or Creative MediaSource? Player/Organizer, and Windows Media? Player (WMP). For more details, read the rest of this web release note.
This update has rectified the problem for me If these steps do not work for you try looking for the download direct by doing the following
Support (You will see this near the top of your screen in the orange bar)
2 Downloads (Follow the steps to select the product YOU have)
3 Select YOUR Language and YOUR Operating System, leave file types set to All
    4 Click Go
    5 Download Patch
I have the latest Firmware installed (found it easiest to do using the Software AutoUpdate section of the website) even installed with WMP on my pc.
Also I updated my creative media explorer, which allowed me to convert more video files from the same place. I found this really usefull.
I have?NOT had the problem of my player not being recognised when connected to my pc and unfortunately I do not know how to solve that problem, sorry, hope some one else can help you with that.

Well I figured it out. Turns out if you go to Sync(little down arrow)>DEVICE_NAME>Advanced Options>Quality if you leave it on automatic it will transfer wav files, but if you change it (I did without knowing) then the highest quality you're going to get is 92 WMA.

  • CoreCentre and Windows Media Player 9

I have a problem with CoreCentre and Windows Media Player 9.  When CoreCentre is running, the CD drive stops and starts when I am playing an audio CD with Media Player 9.  If I use any other Cd audio player (eg Creative Mediasource Player) it does not happen.  I like to use Windows Media Player 9 (I am probably one of the few) but do not wish to turn off CoreCentre.
Can you help me please.  I have asked MSI support staff with no luck and also Microsoft Support (They suggested I go into Safe Mode and see if it still happens - of course it doesn't - I am in Safe Mode! - nothing works!!!).
    I am running Windows XP Pro SP1 with 865Pe Neo2 board, 1GB DDR3200 RAM and Pentium 4 3.0 GHz.
    Sheryl

Well first of all get out of "safe mode"...It's no fun in there ...No really, I can believe that you are not the only one that this happens to ...You have to understand that "CORE-CENTER" is a resource hog!!..As it  has to be in order to give you that critical info in "real-time"..So I take it that this prob. only happens when you are running the CD or DVD programs?...Do you have your DRAM Voltage set to 2.7 Volts?..As this always seems to help on these MO-BO'S (i865-i875)...And if that does'nt work why not just close down "CORE-CENTER?..Until you are finnished with you CD'S ..Sean REILLY875

  • Which Code of avi can play in QT Pro and Window Media Player?

Which Code of avi also can play in QT Pro and Window Media Player?

Nevermind ... not that simple apparently. I managed to get one of the avi's in the CS5 project created automatically when opening the original CS4 project to show the entire contents but can't replicate the behavior to another project using the same avi. Here are the media start, end, duration and video in, out duration values for the file. Viewing the avi in the source monitor I can see the full 16+ minutes. Odd disconnect between the 2 sets of values.
    Any idea would be great!

  • MPEG and Windows Media Playback lost

    Hi,
Assistance please! I stupidly download and installed MPlayer today. I have now lost any playback of Windows Media format sound and this includes the audio associated with Microsoft's ENTOURAGE email programme. Also, CODEC not found error comes up with WMV files AND some MPEG video files now have no sound. Most of the MPEG will still run on VLC.
"Something" has corrupted a file, but where? I have re-installed QT and WMP without success. Starting the mac (10.4.4) via another start-up drive WILL play those files correctly. I also did a re-installed (archive install) again without luck, so its something left behind in the Library folder I think.
Help please as this is driving me mad.

    Dave,
Ok will try Garage Band too. I 'assume' Windows playback and some types of MPEG are converted to a form of midi? I could never work out what form windows media video and audio takes, but did hear that it was a form of mpeg. I assume the sounds with Microsoft's Entourage etc are of the same nature.

  • Creative and Windows Media Pla

Hi- I'm looking in to getting a MP3 player soon and am currently on bouncing between the iPod 20GB, Creative Zen touch or Zen Micro- I'm mainly concerned with battery life and the sturdiness of the player (and the radio feature on the creatives sounds great too)
My question is regarding using Windows Media Player with the Creative Zens.. I read somewhere that it is compatible with these players, does anyone use this program with your mp3 player? I really like WMP (so much more than iTunes) and would prefer to use that to the other programs Creative offers with its players.

  • Problems with Ipod and Windows Media Player PLEASE HELP

Ok i am not sure if this is the correct forum or not but i am having a problem. I have a Windows computer (Yes a windows computer please dont everyone yell at me) and i have a new ipod 30 gig video. Ok well when i put itunes on it changes all my music on my computer gets changed to AAC format and i cannot play music in windows media player. Ok well that is not my big issue. I make videos for church using windows movie maker and i cannot import music because nothing windows can recognize Itunes format which is AAC. well is there anyway so i can use itunes and still use WIndows Media Player and Windows Movie Maker... Any info will be greatly appreciated. THANKS ALL

I believe Quicktime Pro (which is available for Windoze) is capable of opening any WMP files and then you just export it as iPod format. That is how I get video onto the iPod. The Music and Videos all can be placed onto your iPod through iTunes.
So, if you are creating videos in your program, and want them on your iPod, then that is how you can do it.
Videos on your iPod have nothing to do with the formatting of your music. But, as the earlier post stated, change your prefs in iTunes to import as MP3. But, your videos HAVE to be in MP4 or M4V format to work on the iPod.
    Good luck... and I'm a j3susfreak too

  • Ipod and windows media

Ok I used real player to download and all the music went into the "other" folder, then I used windows media and yet downloaded more but yet it went to the same place.. "other" how can I get my music into the "audio" so that I can listen to it?

If the music is in a file type compatible with iTunes, drag the file to an open iTunes window. I'm don't know what you mean by the "other" and "audio" folders. If the file format is compatible with iTunes, you can drag it to an iTunes window from any location. Once it is in the iTunes library, you can sync the song to an iPod (or copy it there manually).

  • IPod 5th generation and Windows Media Player

I just got an iPod 5th gen. for my b-day and have a ton of music on Windows Media Player that I want to put on the iPod. When I try to sync, Windows Media Player says to "connect device". I plug in the Ipod but it still says to connect the device. Is the iPod compatible with the Windows media Player or just iTunes? If I can't do this, then how do I purchase and store music on iTunes and keep it all separate from my wife's music?...she has her own iPod and iTunes account with her own music and DOES NOT WANT my "crappy" music mixed with hers. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

No, iPods are NOT compatible with Windows Media Player. There are a variety of other third party programs that are compatible with an iPod, but I would not recommend using them for a number of reasons.

There are several different ways for handling multiple iPods with one computer. One option is to create an entirely new and separate iTunes library. The only downfall to this, is that you will have to manually choose which library to open upon opening iTunes each time. For more help and information regarding these methods, check out this Apple support document.

  • Iphone and windows media player

I just got the new iphone and would like to load songs from my pc which is windows xp pro. I have windows media player 11. The player does not recognize the device when hooked up. Hope there is an easy solution.

Hi Dean and welcome to Discussions,
to use you iPhone with a Windows PC you have to use iTunes for Windows http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/windows/ and also get the iPhone Configuration Utility from there.
The Windows Media Player is not supported with the iPhone (see requirements here http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html )

  • ITunes and Windows Media Player

I just installed iTunes 8 on my PC with Vista and now I can't even open Windows Media Player. I did not change the default to iTunes and expected to still be able to use the Windows player. Any ideas for a fix?

OK, found a solution elsewhere on the net.
I searched for ages on Google and on Apple's site and could not find the solution. Combining what was said in this link http://johnhaller.com/jh/usefulstuff/itunes_arist_in_titleissue.asp with another user's mention of absolute paths in M3U playlists was the solution.
First, load your M3U playlist into Excel as a text file. Use Excel's auto filter function to remove any rows that reference the track # or title - they all start with the pound sign. This leaves behind just the path to the actual file and the filename itself. Then, edit the paths so that they're the full absolute path to the file. In my case, the paths were missing the "C:\" designator. Once I did that, I created a new empty playlist with the name that I wanted, and I dragged the modified M3U playlist onto it. Voila! iTunes added the playlist without adding new files to the library. It's a miracle!

  • Actiontech router and Windows Media Center on Win8

While waiting for Verizon to solve their network problems and actually get light to the ONT, they left the actiontech router in my house, so I took sometime to get to know it.
It's definitelly something I don't want or need in my network. It's not a bad router if you didn't have a business class product from before (actually it is pretty much the best you can get short of going to hardware firewall routers in the class of Zyxel, Watchguard and some high end, business class, Dells, Ciscos and Netgears).
Well... needless to say, I am running such a router (a Watchguard XTM-26W) and have security subscriptions with them to protect my network. In addition, it offers functionality and discrete access controls otherwise impossible with consumer grade products.
Now, back to the basic subject: I noticed something ominous and wonder if anyone else has noticed it too. I run my TV service through a machine that uses a Ceton 4-HD PCI-E tuner card with a multistream cablecard. It is installed on top of Windows 8 Pro, 64 bit and I use Windows Media Center as my core TV interface (guide and all). The machine is set to go to sleep by itself if no activity (and TV it's the only thing designed and intended to do and the only thong it does) is detected on the tuner for 5 minutes. This works flawlesly  and always did while on Comcast service.
Now, the problem: you put the Actiontech router in the network (regardless of whether it's before or after the firewall gateway) and the machine fails to go to sleep. The router introduces some dort of chatter in the networkk that keeps the HDD active and the computer alive in perpetuity. Did anyone notice anything similar? What is your experience with this?
Obviously, I have no intent to keep the Actiontech router in the network under such conditions. For what I know, it is illegal in fact to put out products that send unsolicited traffic through one's network. Not to mention that it is a security risk. Might Verizon re-consider their insistence on deciding what routers to support and what don't or simply drop all support for all the routers since none is ever really needed? They only have the job to deliver a public IP to my equipment and I should be left alone otherwise (according to FCC). Which they otherwise fail to do by putting a piece of equipment that is theirs in the way and mandating that I use it, since 192.168.x.x is NOT a public IP, according to Internet Council.

    LeoZ wrote:
Actiontec responded to my inquiry. See below.
It turns out it's another Verizon problem...
"Honestly no idea what would cause the chatter on the network to prevent sleep\stand-by to function.
Verizon would have to review the issue and see what in the code programming would cause this."
Stop the chatter. Put your Media Center hardware behind another firewall. Like I said mine is Linux IP-COP, which constanty drops these trash packets from the single STB I have on the MOCA COAX.
All from the Verizon network router. Almost like a broadcast storm!
This is a Motorola STB, My Cisco had two real IP addresses asigned by DHCP, and they did not do this. I turned in all my STB hardware and ordered a single STB, and was sent Motorola when I had been using Cisco.
wan-1 in into my Linux box and lan-1 is out of it. Then all my harware which includes Media Center PCs are gigabit switches, not exposed to this. I guess you could use another router and not a Linux PC. This STB is going back soon.
