Roadmap / Overview / Steps/Tasks for 11gR2 DB and Fusion Middleware 11g

hello all
is there any website / URL that shows the roadmap or an overview of DB 11gR2 and Fusion Middleware 11g? I found this http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/install.1111/e10421/overview.htm but lack of the overview together with Oracle DB HOME.
Also helpful will be the steps to check or tasks to complete in assisting with installation of DB11gR2 to Fusion.
Thanks in advance.

Provided that you have enough resources like RAM, diskspace, CPUs etc.
why database on separate OracleHome?
You can use the existing Oracle Home if you want to create a new 11g DB.

  • Failing to assemble Downloaded Pre-built Virtual Machine for  SOA Suite and BPM Suite 11g

    Hello,
I checked the download checksum of the files downloaded for Pre-built Virtual Machine for  SOA Suite and BPM Suite 11g ( Pre-built Virtual Machine for SOA Suite and BPM Suite 11g ) and they all match checksums.
however, when I try to assemble them with 7zip, I get a corrupt error message.  I have tried downloading with Chrome and Internet Explorer.  I have also tried assembling the 7zip files different ways.
Is there anything else I should try?
Running on Windows 7, 64 bit machine.  (with lots of disk space).
Is there any other way to get the files?
    thank you.

    thanks for the response
I guess I will have to do that as well.
However, it defeats the speed with which can ramp up with the toolset;  thus slowing my time I can allocate to learning it...

    Krish,
There are two main installable products in IdM 11g
    A) OID/OVD/OIM 11.1.1.4 (current in 11.1.1.5) - You don't need SOA for this and steps to install/configure are documented on my blog http://onlineappsdba.com/index.php/2011/03/23/install-oracle-identity-management-oimidm-11114-oid-ovd-oif-high-level-steps/
    B) OAM/OIM/OAAM/OIN/OAPM 11.1.1.3 - You need SOA 11.1.1.3 only if you are selecting OIM . For step by step installation and configuration check

Note : If you are installing 11.1.1.3 then select weblogic 10.3.3 and for 11.1.1.4 select weblogic 10.3.4 ()

  • Cannot start Enterprise Manager for Fusion Middleware 11g

    Dear all,
Because I want to install Oracle EGRCM v8.0.1 in Linux x86_64, so I installed Oracle Weblogic 11gR1 and SOA Suite 11g first.
After installation successfully, I created a base_domain as default, and can start weblogic administration server ( http://localhost:7001/console ) successfully.
Now I want to use Enterprise Manager for Fusion Middleware 11g. Per "*Oracle® Fusion Middleware Administrator's Guide 11g Release 1 (11.1.1)*", the EM should be available now and the access URL should be http://localhost:7001/em . But when I try to access it, the following error returned:
    Error 404--Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    +10.4.5 404 Not Found+
The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
So I try to start with emctl in *$MW_HOME/oracle_common/bin/*, the error is as following:
    +./emctl: line 387 /d02/Middleware/oracle_common/perl/bin/perl: No such file or directory+.
I check the path and find out that no directory named "perl" under */d02/Middleware/oracle_common*. So I try to copy the necessary dir from the dir installed Oracle Database 11g ( *$ORACLE_HOME* ), but it returns following error:
OC4J Configuration issue. /d02/Middleware/oracle_common/sysman/j2ee not found.
I try to copy necessary dir from *$ORACLE_HOME* but still cannot start EM.
Please give some advise about how I can start EM for Fusion Middleware 11g, any idea is appreciate!

For any SOA Domain, unless you have Enterprise Manager Facet enabled (during domain creation process or adding later on by extending it), you will not be able to access the EM Console. Ravi JeggaHello Ravi:
I too like Kenny experienced the EXACT same thing this morning. I was trying to figure out how to modify the formsweb.cfg and I remembered from when I install Oracle9i/10g AS a few years back, that it was on the Enterprise Manager Console for forms (different than the EM for the database). Well that's different than the consoles for Weblogic Server and Weblogic Server for Forms. I ran into the same errors Kenny did, and I followed your steps except that I did install into the domain the Enterprise Manager so when I looked at the config.xml I do see the same code that you posted above. Yet I still get the error when accessing
    http://computer:7001/em
Also when trying to run emctl (I copied the perl directory from the database) and same error as Kenny. Any tips/clues?
I'm running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Oracle 11g (database, Fusion Middleware).

  • Trouble with Documentation ZIP File for Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1.6)

    Hello,
I downloaded E23943_01.zip, which is the 2.5 GB documentation set for Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1.6), WebLogic 10.3.6. WinZip will not open the ZIP file due to this error: too many entries in central directory according to end of central directory info. My other ZIP programs report essentially the same error as WinZip.
When I first encountered the error, I assumed my download did not complete correctly; but I downloaded it three times, with the same error. All three downloads had the same file sizes, and I even binary-compared two of them, which were identical.
I am suspicious that the source E23943_01.zip file on Oracle's site is corrupt. Can anyone corroborate or refute my suspicions?

  • Hi everyone, big step forward for Oracle, simple and efficent install, just

started out using Oracle 10G since september. Making an ecommerce application, but one that will have the glory of higend graphical frontend and the best database backend. So I ended up with Oracle 10G enterprise and the HTMLDB module. But now we have Oracle 10G express for a price which is simply unbelievable. A good step I would say.
One note to Oracle, use the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle when it comes to installing software. Vendors like MS are an example. They have a huge following because of there simplistic approach. With software installation and it's functionality a top down approach is the best way to go. Seems like Oracle finally seems to get it.
I've been developing my htmldb app and will do for some time. Hope to learn and share information at becomming a good Oracle user. As a business person, I have the urge to understand the tools that drive my business. And Oracle seems to be the best. Although especially in the documentation department it can use some improvement. Installed enterprise and dev suite 3 times at a row, because of a badly written manual in regards to getting Oracle Designer running with a working repository. Thought I learned how to fly to the moon, after reading it 20 times, am a MBA graduate, still, there is real room for improvement. And this XE is a good start.
    And my first question is:
Will Oracle Designer 10G work with it? If so, can someone with the knowledge make a simple step by step guide for us .
Now, the Designer lets you run a script and asks a ton of questions when you try to create a repository. And no explination of the values which are being asked for by the scripts.
    Pete

Hey Tom, seriously, I'm not saying that MS is perfect. But what I'm saying is that when a keyplayer knows how to get the software installed on the users system, nice and easily, the user can evaluate it. And in this respect Oracle has got alot to learn. And it just did that with the Oracle XE edition.
    EG:
I wanted to evaluate Oracle 10G enterprise. That was no problem. Was surprised by the simple install compared to 8i, which we ran an ERP system on.
But after that I decided to install HTMLDB 2.0. Well, took me 2 full working days, only to find out the manual is faulty. Noone in the forums could help me, I was doing what the manual told me. And just knowning that Oracle is the best sollution, kept me going on, driving my frustrating levels to unknown highs. We are talking about 16 hours wasted in a person life too just simply get it running. Eventually I found the fault by refering to the manual of the old version, version 1.6.
HTMLDB 2.0 Manual is faulty. Install on DB 10.2 and 10.2 Companion
A top down overview regarding Oracle's products is welcome. As a newbie it can be daunting to even begin the journey. Where to start, it is such a complex environment with so much opportunities to get lost. I for instance just read a book called Oracle 10G the complete Reference, 1000 pages, to get an idea of the product. But even after that I still need to learn alot about it. I see its richness, but not everyone has the time to do so, which from a business perspective is not the most suitable position to take. It all has to do with the target audience. Still people like me, with an own enterprise and a need to know which products to use in regards to data, with no formal IT background, but a MBA background, need to evaluate to see if what is in my head can be delivered while still understanding the tools to achieve my goals.
Same story goes with installing an Oracle Designer 10G Repos running the scripts, ckqa, ckcreate etc. See my recent thread in that forum. Same ****, am trying to install it, but it asks for 101 values, which aren't documentated in the manual. Feel like I need to install a rocket, but with a Russian manual. I turned to ER-WIN, which installed under 5 mins. Still desire to evaluate Oracle Designer, but can't simply because there is a faulty uncomplete manual. Look through a beginners eyes. Where do we start with a database design. With a data model, ah Oracle has one, ashame it can't get installed. It's probably the best suited for the job though, that is frustrating. See my thread and judge yourself:
How do I install a repos using Oracle 10G 10.2 and Designer 10G
Thread has had 322 views and 1 reply. To drive you insane. I just simply want to evalute the ERD capabilities of Designer.
Why do people love MS, because of it's simplicity. Imagine the power of growth if Oracle could realize this by simply taking a top down approach to its software catalog, many business people are capable of handling SQL and PL/SQL, and have no interest in the underlaying structure. That is what MS does perfectly, hide the complexity from the endusers.
Don't see it as negative critism, just a note to indulce a positive change. The possibilities in Oracle are endless, and yes I totally agree, it is the best in data. No argument there, just like to see it getting better by simple installations.

  • Minimum steps required for Change Management and Incident management

    Hello experts,
Does anyone have a check list of the absolute minimum steps required for getting Change Management and Incident management functioning in Solution Manager.
I just need it to function with creating changes and incidents and be able to assign them, change their status and close them.
The purpose is to get an idea if this is something for us to use. If we then find it useable, then we will go for a full scale implementation using official guides, education etc.
I just need an absolute minimum guide for demonstrating the functions, and if you guys have any recommendations, things we should pay special attention to or other experiences feel free to tell me.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Proposal for 12 database and Fusion Middle-ware.

    Dear all,
i am not sure that the question is relevant here or not, if not then please accept my sorry for that.
we are going to move to 12c database and fusion middle-ware from 10g database.
our head of department ask me to prepare a proposal for that so i ask and forward it to the top management.
i am wonder what should i include in that proposal?
    thanks

    >he convence us to purchase new license for oracle database 12c and weblogic suite 12c
If you have a proper Support contract, it includes Update support.  So upgrading an existing implementation doesn't require additional licences to be purchased.  You'd need additional licences if you are increasing your licence count (Processors or Users), adding database options (e.g. the 12c MultiTenant Database Option is a new feature that needs additional licencing) etc

what components install do we need to get this install up to speed?
    thanks.

    Hi,
WLS ZIP distribution is only intended to be used for only developers.
As per your requirement in order to install Oracle Forms you need to install .jar or .exe or .bin file depending upon you OS.
       Then install Oracle Forms 11g.
So request to follow the below steps if your OS is a 64 bit :-
1)Download and Install JDK 1.6.0_XXX from the below URL :-

In order to install Weblogic set you java path to point to the JDK 1.6.0_xxxx then run the below command :-
java -jar wls1036_generic.jar [ If the OS is 64 bit ]
      3) Download Forms and Reports 11.1.2.2.0 or Forms 11.1.1.7.0 from the below URL 's :-

  • Oracle application server 10g and fusion middleware 11

    Hi
I am confused about architecture of application server 10g and oracle fusion middleware.
I have installed oracle application server 10g that includes infrastructure tier ( database repository,SSO,OID,DAS,OCA) and mid tier (OC4j,forms,reports,discover,portal,wireless). Here I have totally understood the architecture of 10g application server and Installation method and sequence.
But I could not understand oracle fusion middle ware architecture and components compared to 10g application server.
Now I want to install the oracle fusion middle ware same as 10g application server keep in mind.
can anybody give me high level view of oracle fusion middle ware and it's component? and also difference between 10g app server and fusion.
how can I achieve same thing that i implemented in 10g app server with fusion?
If somebody have architecture diagram of both 10g app server and fusion that will also help me.
    Thanks,
