RoboHelp 9 - Initial published display

I'm pretty new to RoboHelp used it many years ago, When I publish as FlashHelp and click View Result the item displayed is the 3rd item down in my TOC instead of the first item. How do I publish and have the first topic display?

Hi there
You need to configure the default topic.
In your Single Source Layout recipe properties, expand Content Categories and click the category you have there. Then click the Select button to browse to and choose the default topic.

  • 3201: The publisher display name FooBar, specified in the package doesn't match the publisher name, FooBar

    I've updated a WP 8.0 application to WP 8.1 Silverlight. When I try to deploy a demo application I get the following error;
3201: The publisher display name, FooBar, specified in the package doesn’t match the publisher name,
FooBar, that’s associated with the developer account.
I've seen several cases with people encounter this issue and then solved by modifying WPAppManifest or the Packages file. My problem is that the
display name and publisher name is exactly the same. Both in the application xml files and in the error message displayed by windows phone store.
    Any suggestions?

There is no requirement that source code files are in the correct directory structure. If you want javac to be able to automatically compile dependent files, then the source code must be in an appropriate structure and find-able from the classpath.
Also, when you use the -d option, javac will create an appropriate directory relative to the directory specified in the -d option. That's how it is supposed to work.
So it is working as designed and specified.

  • CRRuntime_12_2_mlb.msi has changed since it was initially published

I have Crystal Reports 2008 listed as a prerequisite for my project for both a Setup Project installation and a Click-once installation.  Both have "Download prerequisites from the component vendor's web site" checked.  Installation had been working fine until about a week ago when both the installer .exe and the Click-once install started to fail giving the error "C:\Users\...\CRRuntime_12_2_mlb.msi has changed since it was initially published. Click OK to retry the download, or Cancel to exit setup."  Clicking OK results in a repeat of the error and Cancel aborts the install.
Any idea what is going on?  I can get around it by manually downloading the .msi file and installing it separately, but that defeats the purpose of Click-once or having a setup program with prerequisites.
    Thanks for your help!

This issue has been submitted to QA for a resolution. Kbase 1446638 describes the issue:
    Symptom
Running the Clickonce install results in the following error
The value of the 'PublicKey' attribute in 'Crystal Reports 2008' does not match that of file 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports 12.2\CRRuntime_12_2_mlb.msi'.
    Reproducing the Issue
Download the Clickonce deployment file from here.
Use the file to deploy the runtime in a Clickonce deployment.
    Cause
The Product.xml file contained in the zip file references a PublicKey for an expired certificate (original RTM cert) and it does not match the newer certificate used to build the MSI.
    Resolution
The issue has been submitted for a resolution.

As  work-around, you can try the following:

  • Robohelp X5 - Publishing Connection Failure

    Hello RoboFriends
We have been successfully publishing Webhelp Pro output to our Roboengine website for years.   We are running Robohelp X5.  Recently, we started receiving Warning: Failed to publish to "xxxxxxxx". reason: Failed to connect to server
The error is not consistent, as we were able to publish after initially receiving this message.   I am wondering if it may be a latency issue.  We are publishing to a Roboengine site in the U.S. from a desktop in Bangalore, India.
The IIS gurus have not been much help as they are as naive about Roboengine as we are.   I do not have access to the Robohelp desktop due to it being overseas.  Are there log files on either the desktop or webserver that may provide more info on why we are failing to connect.
    Thank you
    Cleto

After some discussions with a colleague, realized that Robohelp utilizes ftp in the background to copy files and that manually copying files from Robohelp to web server was a valid work around.  Great!   No more emergency and a light turned on for me.   Previous authors had the server drive permanently mapped and whenever there were publishing problems they manually copied files.   This was archived someplace in my brain.   We have not had ftp problems since the move to India last year.   Manually copied files and immediate issue resolved.
Plenty of topics in forums related to ftp issues.  Still have not identified our specific problem.   Did find some useful info on Peter Grainge's website http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/publishing/publishing.htm

  • Information in the Powered by RoboHelp box not displaying

    Hi,
While generating FlashHelp, I edited the information displayed when the Powered by RoboHelp icon is clicked from the Help file to include a Help version. While testing, some users reported clicking the icon displayed the information correctly, while others are not. Without getting into too much detail, does anyone have any ideas about why this would happen? Or how to fix? I've attached a couple of screen shots that may help.
Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.
    Thanks-
    LJuneau

    Hi there
You may wish to investigate differences in the Adobe Flash player versions.
For example, where the dialog appears correctly, right-click the dialog and see what is reported for the Flash Player version.
I'm thinking you may see a difference. (at least that's the hope )
Try this on more than a few PCs. My guess is that those that work fine will all be related to one player version while the ones that don't display properly are related to another.
Any way you slice it, you are facing an issue with the configuration of the end user's workstation. Unfortunately, we all too often have no control over that.
    Cheers all... Rick

  • RH8 RoboHelp HTML published as web help TOC format

Is there any way to manually tweak the TOC formatting in a published set of sub docs that were generated from the root books of a RoboHelp HTML project?
Original project had Install Guide, Admin Guide, etc. which are now published separately. Problems: all files for all books are in each published help system. Browse sequences contain all topics. TOC format got 'lost' so tab names rather than icons are used for ...TOC, Index, Glossary, etc. even though Icons are in the projects. Individual projects open with one book, which must be expanded. No colors in TOC, and uses a different (and noticeably larger) font from the topic.
Since this one-off was done to an unknown version of the content, I'd be better off mucking with the cshdat and wh files than the content of the topics.

...just now revisiting the project that precipitated the original request. I have additional info and a request:
The separate help documents had been published without resetting the browse sequence. As it is today, (because browse sequences were not updated), many hyperlinks jump out of the published books and over to an earlier build that has a single TOC (same IIS server, but completely different path).
I learned that a RH HTML project can have multiple TOCs. So, my new question: is it possible for three TOCs to keep thier own browse sequences and access one common set of published HTM topics?  How would that be engineered? I don't quite know how to manage hyperlinks that reference topics in one of the other books. I don't want to inherit the wrong browse sequences.
The alternative is to generate help from the 4 different TOCs into 4 different folders, which is a lot of replication.  Like Siamese twins, there's a lot of cross sharing built into the original project, so in most cases, the "see also" relationships would give each separately published book 100% access to all the topics, but from a limited TOC.

  • Overlapping of records on bi publisher display on IE8

    Hi All,
I am having a problem for Overlapping for records for BI publisher(obiee 11.1.1.5.0) report display in IE 8 . The report display looks good on firefox and chrome browser. Even, when I open display of report from RTF file on IE , there is no overlapping of records. Is there missing add on or need to update flash player on IE? Most of the clients are using IE for reporting.
    Thanks,

Great!! After putting the fields inside the table, there is no overlapping.
    Thanks a lot!!

  • RoboHelp 9 Publish to SharePoint - why not just change output folder?

    Hello,
For publishing my help to SharePoint, I was not able to get the video publishing to SharePoint to play, but tried to follow what written instructions I could find. and they didn't work. However, I was able to publish directly to SharePoint by simply changing the "Output folder and Start page" on the "General"  WebHelp single source layout settings page. I just made the files go directly to the SharePoint document library - into an empty folder I placed there.  Here is the path I used: \\sharepoint\HR\HCMHRResources\OnlineHelp\HRSpace\index.htm    It seems to work fine. Is there any reason I should not do it this way?

Oops... my bad My Bad MY BAD!
That will teach me to reply without fully comprehending the thread. I was thinking you were referring to typing the UNC address into the publish destination field. But after looking at it again it seems you are talking about where WebHelp is generated.
Actually you DO NOT want to work that way. Here's why.
If you are placing content on a shared medium, odds are that users are accessing it from there, no? The first steps in the generation process involve removing the content from the folder in preparation for receiving a new round of content. And as you may imagine, if users are looking at the information and suddenly it's deleted, it's going to cause issues.
You always want to generate to your local hard drive. Then copy that content from your generated location to the server. And that's what Publish (which is what I thought you were doing) accomplishes.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Robohelp 9 publish to word docx: format footer

For single source publishing to Word docx, is there any way to modify the default footer that is generated?
I really like the ability to publish to docx using a modified word template, however, i seem to have no control over the footer unless i open the generated word file and manually delete or modify the section breaks in order to "reveal" the footer specified in the template.
For my needs, it is not viable to have to manually modify the generated word docx.
Is there any file or control in the guts (resource files) of robohelp i can modfiy to control the default header and footer?
--or anything else i can do to automate generating the footer i need?

  • Robohelp and Firefox display issues

I am using Robohelp 11, generating a Webhelp output. When I display the help in Firefox, the TOC is missing. This works fine in IE and Chrome. This also worked fine back in December, I believe when I had FF v34.05 installed, now with v35.0, the TOC/Index/Search info from my help systems is missing. Either let me go back to v34.0.5 or fix this asap. I need this for hundreds of customers!

Thanks. I have had this problem in the past with IE, have been given a java script to add to my help and it solved it!

Is it possible that you have an extra space AFTER the middle initial? That
said, I've seen instances where extra spaces in general in the given name field
    can cause auto-completion issues.

  • OBI Publisher display user role

    Hello,
I have googled for a few hours but cant find a global variable to display the user group(s) on the OBI Publisher report.
Is that possible without setting up a session variable in the repository (because right now we use OBI without the BI Server repository). If it does not work, how
do I access a OBI Repository session variable in OBI Publisher? From somewhere I need to get the runtime session user groups.
    Thanks

The LDAP is configured correctly now. I created a BIConsumer_new catalog group in the presentation services admin console. I can use that
console to set the permissions for the BI publisher report (somehow it does not work when I try to set the permissions using the bi publisher admin page - the permissions window does not open).
the question is still out there. how can I query with that catalog group OR ldap group in the BI Publisher data model?

  • RoboHelp v7 Publishing error

    Hello,
I am not a RoboHelp user, but my team is now tasked with support of RoboHelp v7. Although we have multiple users not having a problem when attempting to publish, I have one user who continue's to get the following error:
The title bar of the error window states: WebHelp Pro
    Publishing has been cancelled.
Connection failed. Please check the connection and post again.
    Native error: Access Denied.
The client has had this problem for a couple days now. Prior to that it worked fine, There is no other computer with RoboHelp installed within the department he works in. So, I cannot have him log into another pc to try it.
Is the Access Denied a rights issue with the server not allowing him to access it? I read of similar errors in the forums. Those talked of bogus temp files created on the server that need to be deleted. However, wouldn't that have an effect on more then one user?
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated for this newbie to RoboHelp 7 support.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Peter,
Thanks for the reply. RoboHelp Server is installed. (As a matter of fact a project is underway to upgrade all clients including the server version 8).
Other authors in his department can use his pc as well as their own pc to publish their projects. Other departments using the same application do publish their projects to different locations.
I have learned that the user having the problem is a newer employee (at least to the department) and has never been able to publish since taking on this roll.
Would it be safe to assume that he does not have the proper/necessary rights to the departments given location on the server?

  • RoboHelp Server 8 Displays Blank Page When Going through the Engine

    Here is my issue.
I have 6 projects between 2 areas on our RoboHelp Server 8.  I have
never had any problems publishing to the server, our IT department had no problems setting up the server including
installing Tomcat.  We've changed the port so it would run on the default http port 80.  Everything was running smoothly until this morning.  When we go to the link that is used to run through the engine (i.e. http://server name:port/robohelp/server?prj=project name&area=areaname), instead of the redirecting page that we normally get, we get a blank white page that shows done in the status bar.  Our IT department has tried to restart the server, did not fix the problem, they tried to restart the services (i.e. Tomcat and the RoboEngine), did not fix the problem.  I have tried to connect to the server through the RoboHelp development interface and I get an Connection to Server Failed error.  I have checked the publishing interface for Webhelp Pro ,which is what we use and all the setting are correct.  When I try and refresh the area I get the Unable to get area list from server.  We can get to the projects as if what we are using Webhelp.  We would use regular Webhelp but that does us no good because then there is no reporting features because it is not running through the engine.
When I go though the Web Admin Interface and try to look at the project section we get an Server is refreshing project data, try again later.  This is the same error we have received all day.    I'm now stuck and don't know what to do or try.  Between my IT dept and myself we tried everything we can think of.
Just another tidbit so it can be ruled out.  I have applied the patch to my copy of RoboHelp 8.0.2 patch.  And since I'm the only developer right now, that should not be the issue.
I have not tried to delete the project form the server, because
    a. I can't see them in the projects pane so I can't delete them and
    b. I cannot connect to the server to re-publish them.
Any advise in the matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ian
