To anyone who can help,
How do I create a (disjointed) rollovers in DW CS3.
I created one a long time ago (http://www.timfoleystudios.com/DetachedRollover/indexp.html) and can't find any documentation that will walk me through the process.
Thank you for your help.

Help with LINK WARNINGS and ROLLOVERS in GoLive CS3
Hello,
After I publish my site, I am unable to get the rollovers to work. Could this because I am getting Link Warning messages on all of the pages? I have been troubleshooting for a few hours and can not seem to find the problem. I could use a fresh set of eyes if anyone has the time to look at the code. When I view the site in my browser before I publish it, the rollovers work fine. I am just looking to get the rollovers to work. Any help is appreciated!!

Imageready cs2 to photoshop cs3 file conversion
hello;
when opening a Imageready file with rollovers in Photoshop CS3 you only get the "normal state"
anybody knows of an app or plugin that would convert all old rollover states in a way PS CS3 understands?
thanks
Alex"Will there ever" is a loaded question Apple rarely comments on future product releases, and anyone that would know wouldn't be able to comment.
So it's not possible to say if future dodge & burn (or other plugins) can work without rendering a TIFF file.
As far as "multiple file formats" though -- it shouldn't really be something you need to worry about (other than the fact that the TIFF takes up some disk space). You can export to JPEG from the original or the version, and Aperture will track the files together. -
DW CS3/GoLive Disjointed rollovers
I have a table with several columns of text--a list of names of artists. I want users to be able to move their mouse over the names and small rollovers appear on another part of the webpage--disjointed rollovers.
http://www.printworkschicago.com/artists/artists.htm
I created my site in GoLive years ago, and I'm updating this particular page in DW CS3 for the first time. Now I understand GoLive didn't write proper JavaScript code, and the disjointed rollovers there now aren't the way DW CS3 wants them to be coded. (GoLive called them "remote rollovers")
My prob is this: when I try to make a simple change to the rollover--such as, add a name to the list of artists, and I use the Behaviours panel, use the swap image command, etc., all the other JavaScript effects on the rest of the page go kablooey.
Someone told me that I'm going to have to recreate my page over from scratch to rid the code of bad JavaScript codes. Is this true? Should I just go back to GoLive for the one page--for now--until I can recreate the page from scratch?
Thanks in advance.salmdesign wrote:

The answer really depends on the code on the page. Things don't just go 'kablooey' - it happens for a reason. Looking at the code will tell you what that reason is.
There is no a priori reason why adding a DW behavior to a page containing GL markup would cause a kabloeey event. Can you show us the page in its broken state? -
Rollovers not working in CS3 - HELP!
I imported a site into Dreamweaver, and on the pages I haven't touched the rollovers work fine. On the pages I've made changes, the rollovers no longer work although the links work. I tried replacing the head tag on the page with the disfunctional rollovers with the functional page to make sure the java script was working properly, but it still didn't work. I tried deleting an image and relinking the image for the rollovers, and it still doesn't work. I also tried putting the pages through a CSS editor and didn't find any errors. Here's a link to the functional page:
http://tscre.com/
AND a non-functional page:
http://tscre.com/services.htm
Can anyone help? THANKS!!!Your disfunctional pages have lost the carriage returns between adjacent lines of code in the head. This will impact the functionality of your javascript there.
Open the functional page, and copy everything from here -
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
<!--
through here -
//-->
</script>
(including those lines of code)
And paste it over the corresponding parts of the non-functional pages. This target area will require some effort to find since all of the carriage returns have been stripped.
That should fix you up.

Adobe Illustrator CS3 and FrameMaker 8 - Are interactive rollovers possible?
Hello,
I recently read an article (see URL below) that talked about using InDesign to create rollover effects on graphics, that would carry forward
as the graphic was brought into FrameMaker and then saved out as a PDF.
http://www.creativetechs.com/iq/make_a_pdf_portfolio_with_interactive_rollovers.html
Can Illustrator CS3 allow me to take a drawing, screen capture or photograph (graphic with callouts drawn on top of the photo)and add interactive rollover effects? Or, is Illustrator CS3 limited in what it can provide for interactivity, compared with InDesign CS3, Fireworks CS3 and Flash CS3 and Photoshop CS3. I would prefer to work in Illustrator CS3.
Also, I would prefer to either place the .ai file format right into FrameMaker (linked to file) as that seems to work very well. Note, I am trying to stay away from SVGs at this time.
Can I create an interactive drawing or graphic and save it (e.g. ai, png format) so that the end result is an interactive PDF, as shown in the samples on the website above?
Thanks for your responses. It is very much appreciated.
Regards,
JimYes.
Select the object. Choose Effect > Distort & Transform > Transform
Tick the Reflect box. Set the 9 point origin indicator to the reflect origin you want. Set the "copies" box to 1. Click OK.
You should then be able to alter the original object and see changes in the reflection. -
Dreamweaver rollovers not working in Safari
Hi,
I have been using Dreamweaver's image rollover effects for
years now with no issues. Well, until now. I'm working on a fairly
simple site for a filmmaker. It only includes 3 small rollover
effects.
I've tested the site on my PC using IE, Firefox, and Safari
3.0.4, and it looks fine. The rollovers do not work for the client
in Safari though. She is using Safari version 2.0.4. Her system is
Mac OS X, version 10.4.8, 1.33 GHz powerPC G4.
I'm stumped. I'm using Dreamweaver CS3. Here's a link to one
of the pages with the issue:

Any help would be incredible appreciated. Thanks in advance.

in preview or live on the server. Any ideas?

- I did these rollovers using phototshop cs/ image ready.
Thank you!LOL. Glad I could help.
The problem is this -
Much 'wizard' based javascript is written into the page like
this -
<script type="text/javascript">
<!-- //
blah blah blah
//-->
The javascript code is put inside double comments (the outer
ones are for
HTML, and the inner ones for javascript). In fact, neither
are appropriate
when working with an XHTML doctype, and I'm pretty sure the
others are not
really needed ever, but it's tradition....
Your error was caused when the trailing comments are
incompletely removed
leaving that "/" in place....

CS5 AS2 mac projector screen flicker–no flicker from CS3 projector
I've been working on a flash project for a while using a G5 PowerPC, 10.4.11, Flash CS3 using AS2 and publishing a mac projector/Windows exe. Mac projector has always worked fine. So has the exe. I just upgraded to an iMac, Snow Leopard 10.6.8, AMD card and Flash CS 5.5 v11.5.0.325.
I'm using the same CS3 AS2 flash file from the old G5 CS3 setup on my new Snow Leopard Mac CS 5.5 setup. When I publish it, the mac projector flickers like crazy. It looks to be an animated png issue. But I have never had that problem on my old slow G5 - the projector always played perfect, no flicker.
On this CS5.5 generated projector, the flickering occurs on the splash - large png files, but my G3 never had one issue. Also, my small png rollovers flicker - not just the animation. And the screen flickers non stop when there's no mouse activity.
I copied over a backup of my CS3 generated projector onto my new computer and played it to see if it was a graphics card issue. No flicker! The CS3 projector plays perfect on my new Mac. All content within the two projectors are identical - What gives?
Why is CS5.5 generated projector flickering, but the exact same file from a CS3 generated projector works perfect on BOTH computers?
I've spent several hours searching for the answer but can't find a flicker issue similar to mine.
I don't have bitmap caching enabled. I didn't change any of the default settings in CS5.5. I just copied the CS3 file to my new computer and published it, then I got instant screen flicker. I don't know what other settings to change for projectors. Never had performance issues with projectors or exe files, no matter how old the computer was that was playing the file.
This must be a Flash setting issue, but I can't find it.
By the way, the cs5.5 genertated exe file plays like a champ - no issues.
Ideas?I also tried publishing the projector in flash player 9 and 10 to see if that would make a difference. It did not. I was publishing in flash player 8 on my old G5 computer and that's what I published it as through CS5.5 as well. That didn't work either. I'm search for some sort of fs command AS2 issue when using CS5.5 to see if I need to change the code, but have not found anything yet.
It's the full screen mode that is causing the flicker though - only when published from CS5.5. Full screen mode works out of a CS3 projector on both computers.

Navigation rollovers shift tables/images - why?
Hi, I'm using FW CS3 and DW CS3 and I'm on a 24" iMac. These sites are driving me nuts with the IE 7 browser. In BOTH cases, the navigation rollover effect somehow causes the table or image to shift. Note: I use tables to create my websites.
This ONLY happens in IE - at least consistently. I've double checked my Fireworks Files to set the image locations as identical in frames 1 and 2. And I've checked my margins on my DWT templates to make sure no space got accidentally inserted.
Also in the Bright-Belt Music site, my rollovers don't even show up, on ANY browser.
Are these DW CS3 bugs perhaps??
Here are my sites; I do hope it's okay to list both since they both have the similar issue. I've checked some of these pages for validation but I'm not all through with that yet.
Many Thanks for any help on these; this issue has been a thorn in my side for months.
www.brightbeltmusic.com
www.frankbright.com/index3.htmI'm on Windows7 and IE 8.
On the rollover, the table shifts down a couple of pixels. It's veery strange why it would happen in some browsers and not others.
Welcome to browser hell!
Try running IE8 in IE7 Compatibility Mode.
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/internet-explorer/features/enhanced-navigation.aspx
If it looks OK in IE7 mode, then you can force your page to be viewed correctly by adding a line of code to your web pages. This link shows how.

Caption in disjointed rollovers
Using Dreamweaver CS3 (WinXP), is there a simple way to add captions to disjointed rollovers?
My aim is to click on a thumbnail, and when the image is projected on the poster, I want a caption appearing underneath.
Can you please help me with this
ThanksWithout a link to see what you have so far, it's hard to make recommendations. Not too sure how you're creating your disjointed rollovers (scripts or CSS). Below are some links that might help.

Photoshop CS3 need image rollover assistance/save for web
I just installed Photoshop CS3, was disappointed to see ImageReady gone but not worried.
I updated an old rollover file with new wording and went to save the slices as I had always done in the past - with ImageReady, it would automatically save the file as a standard name (file.gif) and the rollover type (file-over.gif)
Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to do this in CS3 without ImageReady. I bought the design premium version so I don't have Fireworks. Does anyone know how to do this process in PS CS3?Misty,
PS CS3 doesn't support rollovers. So you have to:
- recreate rollover effect in Photoshop
- save "over" version of your image under different name
- recreate rollover code in Dreamweaver or other HTML editor -

Navigation bar does not work properly in CS3
The navigation bar shows only the up and the over pictures in
all browsers. It works properly in a framed site, showing all 4
different pictures. But not in the css-layout based site with files
from the same template, which show all in the same window. Does
anyone know where this problem comes from?> Why not use frames again?
This question is answered in detail several times a day here,
but here's the
executive summary -
1. They are difficult for inexperienced users to get right -
a) pages will not align properly if one of them throws
scrollbars
b) links will not work when targeted into different frames
without
hand-modification of code
c) new (and inexperienced users) have problems with the idea
of a single
frameset page that only specifies constituent frames
d) new (and inexperienced users) can be confused by the fact
that the
<title> tag on the frameset page is the one that
appears in the browser
e) etc., etc., etc.
2. They are difficult for your visitors
a) depending on how savvy you are, you may have removed
scrollbars to
'fix' #1b, not thinking that you have also removed those
scrollbars for
people with smaller viewports
b) search engines will index *all* pages within your
frameset, meaning
that a navigation frame or a content only page MAY be shown
in a search hit
list - imagine the confusion when the page is loaded without
navigation, for
example
And - they are so amateur. Really.

With js rollovers it's only *easy* to achieve the up and the
over states.
With CSS rollovers, you can achieve up, over, over while
down, and down.

Much of this has been removed in CS4.

The DivaHTML extension is a good deal. It is just a CSS
rollover with an
'easy' user interface.

Dreamweaver CS3 Image Viewer ImageLinkTarget Problem
I'm using the Dreamweaver CS3 Image Viewer component to make
a quick Flash slideshow.
I've set the ImageLinkTarget parameter to "_blank". However,
in the slideshow, mouse rollovers show
a hand cursor, but clicking opens the larger image in the
same browser window. Everything I have read says that
this setting should cause the link to open in a new window or
tab.
I have posted the code. If anyone has ever experienced this,
please let me know how to fix/work around it.

I'm just a user, like you. And I'd rather you not send things
directly to
me unless I request you to do this. If you have a problem
that cannot be
solved here, then your next option would be to contact Adobe

directly. I'm not very familiar with the Flash side of DW, so
I cannot be
of much help in this regard.
