Rows of pictures

I'm working on a project that is will have about 2 dozen
small pictures, each with a caption about a sentence long. I want
the pictures to be in rows of 3 across.
My question - is this tabular data? Should I use a table for
this? Or is there a better way to do this with CSS?

Nah, they've been remarkably quiet of late ;-)

  • Front Row for pictures is useless to me!

I bought my mac mini to use as a media center, to stream and play eveything from my iMac G5 through the mini connected to my 32" LCD TV. Everything streams fine except photos. Most of the time the slideshow won't work, or after a long hesitation it shows one picture and then just keeps playing the Minuet in G. If I quit out of Front Row and go to iPhoto on the mini, many of the shared pics from the iMac only appear as empty spces with a grey dotted line around them. Sometimes if I click on a space, the pic will fill in, sometimes not.
And that **** music! WHYYYYY can't Front Row do as my iPod does, and go with the option to use music from iPhoto, so that once I have set up an album's slideshow music on my iMac, that carries over to both my iPod as well as through Front Row? I don't want to have to reset music choices everytime I wanna show friends some photos on the TV. iPhoto does not stream the music from the shared photo albums, so if you don't have any music stored on the mini, I am left with Garage Band samples or the Minuet in G.
Finally, Front Row does not seem to be able to read and hold the slideshow preferences for a shared album. Even if I take the time to go into iPhoto and make settings, it will still eventually revert back to the Ken Burns effect.
And here's a thought..what if I just wanna look at a picture through Front Row? I have to start and then pause a slideshow just to look at one pic?
With all this, it's just too frustrating to use for photos.

Although I do all of my picture imports to iPhoto on my MacBook, once a week I connect my MacBook in FireWire Target Disk Mode to my iMac and I copy the whole library over to the iMac. I do the same thing with iTunes. Although I only use my portable computer to manage everything, I copy all of my files over to the iMac. My iMac is connected to the TV and I use Front Row on the iMac to display the picture and music libraries directly from there.
So, your statement shouldn't be "Front Row for pictures is useless to me!", rather it should be "Front Row for shared pictures is useless to me!". This might be a valid statement and there may be things we can help to tweak your settings, but you're right. For the most part shared libraries (pictures or music) are not ideal in Front Row. I would recommend you get a FireWire cable and use your Mac mini as a backup for your iMac's libraries.
Since Front Row will be included with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) when it's released later this year, you probably want your Front Row to work now. So, waiting for an update to Front Row probably is not a good option right now.

  • How can i put pictures in a specific location inside a album on iPhoto?

I'm tryin' to complete my photoalbum in iPhoto ... so every picture i drag to the album is inserted at the end of th e row of pictures. is there a possibility to drag them directly in a specific place in between the existing pictures?

There is no such thing as Numbers or Pages 10. The newest versions are Numbers 3.0.1 & Pages 5.0.1. The suite is sometimes referred to iWork '13, even by Apple, as that when it was released.
Pictures in tables is just one of the 90+ features that didn't make it into the "new & improved, rewritten from the ground up” Pages 5 & Numbers 3. Leave feedback for the Pages team using the link in the Pages menu and review & rate the new versions in the Mac App Store. Do the same for Numbers.
If you previously had iWork '09, those apps are still in your Applications folder in a folder named iWork '09. You can continue to use them to get things done.

  • Has anyone created a PICTURE BOOK in iBooks Author?

I am coming up against an issue that I wish I had known about before investing my time in iBooks Author and that is the the apparant inability to create our picture book and not give away the plot of the entire book on the second page in the TOC that shows all the pictures (our pages) for our book. My question is, has anyone been able to eliminate the TOC with the row of pictures at the bottom of the TOC for your picture book and still get your book published? If so, can you tell me your title so I can see it? Thanks!

We are building a video ebook, using text, filmed video clips of the characters, still pics and audio and want to have it released in this IBA format according to what we think is proper as far as presentation is, to our audience. The problem of incorrect formatting for a children's picture book in IBA is very much there. Part of this issue is creative control and the other part is unnecessarily revealing the visual storyline on the first page of the book. Thanks for your input though.
Again, has anyone produced a children's picturebook throuh IBA that has made it through the vetting process, and is for sale in the iBookstore? Would love to see it and how you formatted it and, I  just might be a customer!

  • Organizing pictures in nano

    Hi all,
Is there any way I can view/organize the uploaded pictures into separate folder? Thank you.
    Jack

Thanks, that was easy enough. Unfortunately, I seem to have a different problem than what I thought. If I click on a photo a different photo from my library shows up. This all began when I was trying to delete a large amount of pictures from the library. I used the apple key to highlite the pictures that I had wanted to delete. By using the apple key I thought I was simply picking random pictures rather than have to pick them one at a time, or use the shift key to pick a row of pictures. While I was doing this I noticed that rows of pictures were changing their order. (the top of the library were the pictures that were earliest in my picture taking).
    Help if you can.

  • Organizing pictures in library

Somehow I have jumbled my pictures in the library so they are not in any order. I wish to return them to a chronological order. How can that be done?

  • Mulitible check boxes but only select one in each row who I do it with Acrobat Pro X?

    Dear Forum Readers
First, if I should post my entry in the wrong forum, forgive me but I didn’t found the right place!
I start to learn about the Adobe Pro X to create a form with different checkboxes, everything goes very well but now I decide it would be better if I could only check one checkbox in each row (see picture) .
Each checkbox in each row has its own value from 1-4 (left checkbox=1 and right checkbox=4) and on the end of the form “Sub Total” all the value in each column who are checked I accounting together.
    1.  1. First I change the check boxes into radio button and give them a different value. Now I can only select one radio button in each row like I want it. But if I go to the field “Sub Total” (properties > calculate > pick) to account the value from each column together then I only can select the whole radio button group and not a single radio button. So my idea doesn’t work because the result is wrong.
    2.
2.T2. Then I got back and change the radio button again into check boxes. In each row I give the 4 check boxes the same name (so they act like radio buttons) and this works fine as well but with the same result as you read above. I could only “Pick” (properties > calculate > pick) the whole group of the check boxes and not only one and therefore my result at “Sub Total” is wrong again.
I search the internet as well but I couldn’t found any working solution.
Now I like to ask you kindly, is there somebody who can help me with the problem?
I need the form as you can see at the picture but it should be only possible to check one checkbox in each row. But on the time I should be able to calculate each single column together.
I would appreciate every idea (as simple as possible) because I am a beginner with Adobe Pro X.
Thank you very much in advance!!!
    Nice regards
    Klaus

    Dear Gkaiseril
Thank you very much for your answer!
    This I fears already J
With JavaScript I have even less an idea than with the program Acrobat Pro XI. Is there not a other solution to solve this problem.
Is it may possible that’s you can show me how such a JavaScript could look like or you know may a existing script?
    Anyway, thank your help.
    Nice regards
    Klaus

  • Merge picture files

Would like to merge files - each file is a picture of a person.  I would like to put about 5 pictures across the  page and 5 rows of pictures per page.  Please let me know how to do this.  The dimensions of the pictures are 640 x 480, the size is 147 and they are JPEG's.  I have a pc with adobe acrobat pro X

You're using the wrong application. Do it in a word processing program like Microsoft Word, or in a page layout application like Adobe InDesign.
Acrobat Pro is a program for editing and working with PDF files.
Choose the correct tool for the job.

  • Converting several pictures into one big picture.

    Hi guys, I'm new here..
for the last hour I've been browsing the forums trying to find an answer to my question but unfortunately, I couldn't find any satisfying answer.. maybe it's because this whole forum system is pretty new to me, or maybe because I'm not that good at English so I'm not looking for the right key words..
anyway.. I'm using Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 for quit a while and I got one thing I can't sort out..
    here we go..
let's say I have about 100 pictures, all of which are at the same resolution and pretty much same quality.. I want to make all these 100 pictures into 1 picture which will have all these pictures one under the other.. or maybe two pictures every row (two pictures under two pictures)..
I hope I explained myself good, cause that's the best I can do..
thanks a lot guys, hope you will be able to help me.

I'll start you out with something that is my interpretation of what you want. If I'm wrong, at least we'll have a starting point as you tell me why it won't do what you want. :)
Since you say you're using PSE 4.0, make sure your View is set to either Tile or Cascade, and get the Layer Palette open.
Create a new blank document (File>New>Blank File). In the set up box, select the size you want and set it to the same resolution as that of the pictures you want to put on it. Depending on what your goal is, you can choose it to have a transparent background, white background, or you can choose a color. Leave the new blank file open on your desktop.
Now open a couple of the image files you want to move. (DO NOT put them in that silly Photo Bin - have them open on your desktop!) Assuming you want the entire picture moved, do a Control>A or Select>All and get the marching ants around the entire image. Now do either a Copy/Paste to the new blank document or (my favorite), choose the Move Tool and simply drag and drop the selected image to the new canvas. You'll see that the new picture goes on the new document in a separate layer, and you can also use the Move Tool to shove it around and get it where you want it. Now you can close the image that's been moved and go on to the next. Repeat until you have all the images moved.
So... How far off am I?!

  • How to export long row datatype?

  • Play from a standard picture folder...

I've searched a bit ...so I hope I'm not asking a question that's stupidly obvious.
Can front row play pictures from a folder? I've stored all my photos in various files in my Pictures folder but don't use iPhoto ...rather something called 'Photopresenter' for my slideshows. So I was wondering if I can access these files from front row - or do they have to be exclusive to the iPhoto library?
I have the choice of a 'Shared Photos' from front row - so I threw a few pics into my Shared Folder hoping they'd show up ....but nope.
Am I missing something - or is there perhaps a work-around to allow something like this.

I think I found my obvious answer...
"If photos are nested (in a folder within another folder) in folders or albums, you may see a "communication error" or other odd behavior when you try to display them with Front Row.
To successfully view photos with Front Row, make sure that your images are contained within an album available in the iPhoto Source window. You can't view images within folders or albums that are inside of other folders or albums—those that aren't available in the Source window—unless you expand the folders in the Source window so the nested folders are visible."
To bad though Front row displayed all my movies that were nestled in folders and I was expecting the same with pictures.

  • Problems loading text to xib using plist in tableview's selected cell

I am developing an app that starts with a grouped tableview cell.  Each cell has an image, text, and description from a plist.  When a cell is chosen a xib is loaded by a view controller in the plist.  I want to load into the xib some text, an image, and a sound file that is in the plist (dict for that cell).  This way I don't have to have lots of view controllers and xibs.  I have been able to load the xib using this method but I can't get the images and text to load.  I have been able to do it when I don't have a grouped table view but when I add the grouping in the plist the connection is lost.  below is my code.  Could someone look at it and tell me where I've gone wrong, how to correct it, or another way to do what I want to do?
I know I am not calling the right array and then dictionary but I don't know how to correct this.  Help please.

  • What happened to "Simple Web Photo Gallery" Automation in Photoshop

Hi - I have used Photoshop's automation tool to make a simple web photo gallery for at least 10 years.  I have built a business out of displaying photos that way for clients.  i do a few things in the HTML but mostly that function of putting them all in a gallery in nice simple columns was of major use.  1000s if not 100,0000s of photos have been displayed by me in this way.  CS5 was the last I was able to use it.
What can I do now?  Where is the plug-in.  Why has this function been moved?
Actually - don't answer the last question.  Just help me get it back so I can work with it in CC!
    Thank you all so much!

The output function in Bridge - unless it has changed a lot since last I checked - does not give me any control on how big the thumbnails should be, what colors to use, what size the large image should be.  It barely gives me any control at all and that worries me.  In the version I am talking about we had complete control, that's what I need again.
For example, it only gives me the ability to put 5 rows of pictures.  That's not enough.  I need a 100.
What are my options?  Sorry, I really need help with this or I'm going to lose a ton of business.

  • Menus and Fonts too small with Panasonic HDTV

I just hooked up a new Mini (Intel chip) to my Panasonic HDTV-- 34" Model No. CT-34WX53-- using a DVI cable. The desktop shows up fine, but the menus and fonts are so tiny that I can't read them. When I try using Front Row, the pictures and vide are gorgeous and the fonts in Front Row are fine. It's just the fonts and menus in on the desktop and in other programs that are too small. Does anyone know how to fix?
Mini Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.5)
Mini Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Edward,
That's the price of having a gazillion pixels!
You have two options - send less pixels to the display or change each application (Including the finder) to show larger fonts and icons.
The lower the resolution option is easy and fast. The downside of "zoom"-ing the display is it may look blocky at certain resolutions and the fonts and fine details in photos and movies may be lost if the mac has to alias or scale the video. If you do this - you might want to enable the menu bar item for display preferences to quickly switch between the setting you prefer. I use one setting for actually using the mac and another setting for playing movies and showing slides in FrontRow.
The change the preferences to make the fonts and icons larger is more of a pain but yields the most crisp display and you don't have to change things up. I would start with Finder Preferences (select an icon on your desktop and on the View menu - show view options - crank up the icon size and font size.) Unfortunately - you have to do this in each application you use. It also won't change the menu font sizes - you might need an "extension" from a developer to change that.

  • Next previous button in gallery

Hi guys, been a while, hope everyone is well.  I am having a problem implementing a next/previous button on an image once it has been enlarged in my gallery.  I have done it in pure as3 but all tutorials seem to use the timeline.  I will post my code underneath so you can see what I am up too.  The next/previous button should I think be added to the modelClicked function.
From what I understand, I will get a next/previous button and turn them into a button object.  I will then delete them from my stage and instantiate them within the class below.  I would then add them to the modelClicked function with events tied to them.  What should I then do in these events to make it fit in with the code below?
    Any advise appreciated,
    Cheers

I don't actually know how you're loading your data.  It's also very difficult to figure out what's happening in your code, since you're extending Classes you don't show. What I can tell you is that you need to store the data about iterating each collection at the level where it's needed. You may want to look at the composite pattern http://www.as3dp.com/2007/05/composite-pattern-book-part-1/ .
In my opinion, the biggest problem you have is poor separation of concerns--you call things Models that are clearly Views, and because you are storing relevant data in Views rather than simply using your Views to represent data, you're making the task of representing and iterating through your data much harder than it needs to be.
The ideal structure would be a data structure that has data for each thumbnail in some sort of collection, like an Array or Vector. This data structure would only be responsible for storing the data and maintaining a pointer to the currently selected thumbnail.  When the pointer changes, the data object dispatches a change event, so Views that care about this pointer can update. Each piece of data could then have a member variable that is one of these collections that manages the correct pointer.  That's where the composite pattern comes in.
Now, the task of building your Views becomes much easier. You have one View that gets a collection and shows all the thumbnails and one View that gets a specific thumbnail, mix and match as needed. The Views, again watch the change event and do whatever they need to do when the pointer changes.
At this point, who sets the pointer ceases to matter. It can be inside one of your Views or outside any of your Views--when the pointer changes, the View that is watching that particular collection will update, and if the result of that update is that a nested View then watches a different collection, that's ok--it still follows the same principles.
