Run multiple programs in sequence
Hello,
I have done 5 labVIEW program and they are not made into sub VIs.But I want to run all of these test one by one automaticlly.
Is it doable? These programs will share most of instrument. I did not make them into subVI since they have bounch of input setting.
Thank you!
Solved!
Go to Solution.
Basically any VI is a subVI. You can drop it onto a block diagram and it will call run that VI. Running them in a particular order is simply a matter of wiring data, often the error wire, from one VI to the next. Since LabVIEW is a data flow language any node will execute once all of it's input are available. A VIs outputs are not available until it has completed execution. So a VI (VI2) that has an input that is an output of another VI (VI1) will always execute after the first one (VI1) completes.
A more advanced way would be to use a sub-panel and load the front panel of the desired VI into the sub-panel and allow the user to interact with the data. You will still want to wire some data through all of your VIs that will be common. This will make it easier on the user. If you want to run them automatically with little or no user interaction you will need to connect the correct indicators and controls on the connector panes of your VIs.

What is the best spec to run multiple programs with numerous photographs? Includes: Lightroom, PhotoMechanic, and Internet DAM system?
For a Macbook Pro. What's the least amount I need to process, upload, download images using these 3 programs?
Thank you.
ptThat's a nice system Kevin, and it will work very nicely with Photoshop. I do take it that you have 16Gb RAM in Total?
250Gb SSD is a good size, but you can still run short, and that will affect Windows performance. When you get your system, instal WinDirStat which gives you a graphic display of everything on your drive, like below. Clicking on any of the large areas will tell you what and where they are, so you can think about moving cache folders etc. to one of the HDDs.
Leave the Pagefile.sys on the boot drive. Think about disabling Hyphenate as it takes a ton of space, and too often crashes on wake up.
My Documents
Desktop
Downloads
Look at Bridge cache
iTunes backup
Other stuff like that.
Think about another 500Gb drive just for Photoshop Scratch. Drives are cheap as chips nowadays
Do yourself a favour, and invest $100 in Shadow Protect (or similar if there is such a thing) SP saves incremental backups every 15 minutes (you can set the interval, but it has no impact on performance with a system like yours). If you have a problem you can mount the back up at any of those 15 minute points, and open files from it. You can also make a bootable DVD image of your C drive, and be back up and running five minutes after disaster strikes.

Beach ballin' while running multiple applications!?
If I run multiple programs with 10.5.2, I get the spinning beach ball a lot while doing the most basic things... I bought a mac to be able to run multiple apps comfortably.
My pram is cleared, I repaired permissions, I booted up in safe mode. I did it all. I did everything except going back to 10.5.1
_+*Where is 10.5.3??*+_I also have a beach ball issue in 10.5.2 (although it has happened in Tiger also).
I'd say this is quite rare, I've only had it happen three times in total (2x on a MacBook Pro and 1x on a Quicksilver G4).
What happens is that the frontmost app starts beach balling for some reason and it can't be force quit. If I go to another running application I can scroll around fine and also move the window/windows belonging to this app, but as soon as I "do" something (i.e. try to quit it or save an open document) it also starts beach balling. If I try to open another application that won't "come up" properly (pulsate in the Dock) and the it also stalls with the beach ball. This happened when I tried to launch Application Monitor. Eventually the Dock also stalled and the Finder and everything.
Screenshot:
http://home.mac.se/star-affinity/beachballing.png
Just now 30 min. ago it happened on my G4 after I just closed the Software Update window after install of the new AirPort software. Beach ball for closing a window? And of course it spread to the other applications, very similar to the way described above.
Not to the interesting part: I can log in to the machine (from another computer of course) using SSH and every thing seems fine when I run the "top" command! No application is using a lot of processing power or anything. I wish I had more Unix command knowledge as I maybe then could do some core dumps of the system or something, because this really feels like some kind of (quite rare, but still) bug in OS X.
Of course it's not impossible that it's a third party program I have running, but I doubt that. Especially on the G4 where I have very few third party background programs (SteerMouse is the only one I think).
I'm seriously thinking about filing a bug report with Apple, although it's very hard to narrow it down as I have no idea what trigger the problem.
Except for this rather serious issue I think Mac OS X Leopard overall is a joy to use!
Therefore it would be really nice to have this out of the way or at least know what's causing it. -
The program in question was implemented as a Java applet that runs in a browser. The developer says it must run under the Java Console and that I cannot run more than one copy of it in a given browser technology (e.g., Firefox); but I can run multiple copies if I use, eg, Firefox for one, IE 32 bit for another, Chrome for a 3rd and IE 64 bit for a 4th. I have tested this, and this does work.
Why would it not be the case if I spawned a completely different Firefox instance/process? When asked this question, the developer said, no, you have to run a different browser implementation to get a distinct Java Console for each one.
Does this make sense in general, or, more importantly, is it true for Firefox?
Thanks,
DennisIt is working for me if I open a second Firefox instance with its own profile by starting Firefox with the -no-remote command line switch.

Running multiple instances of program in parllel processing.
Hi Experts...
We have an issue where we need to update huge set of data (say more than 2000000), update is simple where some BI table needs to be updated for few fields.
Now issue is that if at one go this update is done then there is memory issue, system is not able to extend the internal table beyond a permitted memory.
For this there may be some chanes which could be done in report RSMEMORY but business does not want this way.
I want to know what does "running multiple instances of a program in parllel processing, one job does not have to update the whole table".
Program is ready but simply running program without any input on the selection screen is picking all data and ending up in a short dump since there is huge data in the BI table.
What is the best possible way to update table through program where there is an issue of Huge data.
Do we have any expert comments on this ?
Thanks & Regards,
MarkHope this gives some direction !
Bundling using Function Modules for Updates
If you call a function module using the statement CALL FUNCTION ... IN UPDATE TASK, the function module is flagged for execution using a special update work process. This means that you can write the Open SQL statements for the database changes in the function module instead of in your program, and call the function module at the point in the program where you would otherwise have included the statements. When you call a function module using the IN UPDATE TASKaddition, it and its interface parameters are stored as a log entry in a special database table called VBLOG.

Can we run multiple sapinst programs in parallel?
We are planning to upgrade our EP, XI and BW simultaneously. These SIDs all reside on the same server and same OS. Is it possible to run multiple sapinst programs in parallel? I know it may require specifying separate ports for the 2nd and 3rd instance of sapinst. For example: sapinst 1 gets default ports 21212, 21213. sapinst 2 will take 21214, 21215 and sapinst 3 takes 21216 and 21217.
Has anyone attempted this sort of a thing before? Appreciate your thoughts.Never done that before, maybe it works .. however it could run into problems when the sapinst are trying to access the same paths / files.

Running multiple instances of program at same time problems
I have a c++ program that uses BerkeleyDB 4.8.26 with transactions. Program works well, and I can run multiple instances of program and they cooperate on database very well. Problem arises when I run a small test program that runs 10 instances of the same program at same time.
Test program opens database with transactions, it does some database reads and writes and quits. This test is run in 10 instances of the same program at the same time. Some instances run and finish well, other instances end up with some of these errors:
unable to allocate memory for the lock table
PANIC: Cannot allocate memory
Error opening environment: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
another with:
db_files/__db.001: No such file or directory
db_files: No such file or directory
Error opening environment: Invalid argument
others with this one:
Log file corrupt at LSN: [1][84474]
fileops: close db_files/log.0000000001
PANIC: Invalid argument
unable to join the environment
db_files: No such file or directory
Error opening environment: DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery
I don't understand reason of this error, as I thought (and read) that BerkeleyDB should be able to handle multiple instances accessing database and is thread-safe.
I tried to run the test on both NFS and local disk drive with same results.
Is there anyone with ide what could be causing this problem ? My platform is x86_64 GNU/Linux 2.6.18-164.el5

Extended Program check for multipl programes in single run
Hello All,
I wan to do the syntax check for multiple programs at single execution run.
SAP has provided SLIN transaction for single program, Is there any SAP standard transaction similar as SLIN for multiple program check at single execution run?
Thanks,

I don't think you have much option there -
Is this possible to run a program on one server(e.g. development server) on
Is this possible to run a program on one server(e.g. development server) on another server via remote log on, or any other such technique
Hi Surbhi,
RfC are remote function calls through which u can remotely access other system.
RFC
Purpose
Communication between applications of different systems in the SAP environment includes connections between SAP systems as well as between SAP systems and non-SAP systems. Remote Function Call (RFC) is the standard SAP interface for communication between SAP systems. The RFC calls a function to be executed in a remote system.
Synchronous RFC
The first version of RFC is synchronous RFC (sRFC). This type of RFC executes the function call based on synchronous communication, which means that the systems involved must both be available at the time the call is made.
Transactional RFC (tRFC)
Transactional RFC (tRFC, also originally known as asynchronous RFC) is an asynchronous communication method that executes the called function module in the RFC server only once. The remote system need not be available at the time when the RFC client program is executing a tRFC. The tRFC component stores the called RFC function, together with the corresponding data, in the SAP database under a unique transaction ID (TID).
If a call is sent, and the receiving system is down, the call remains in the local queue until a later time. The calling dialog program can proceed without waiting to see whether or not the remote call was successful. If the receiving system does not become active within a certain amount of time, the call is scheduled to run in batch.
tRFC is always used if a function is executed as a Logical Unit of Work (LUW). Within a LUW, all calls are
· executed in the order in which they are called
· executed in the same program context in the target system
· run as a single transaction: they are either committed or rolled back as a unit.
Implementation of tRFC is recommended if you want to guarantee that the transactional order of the calls is preserved.
Disadvantages of tRFC
· tRFC processes all LUWs independent of one another. Due to the amount of activated tRFC processes, this procedure can reduce performance significantly in both the send and the target systems.
· In addition, the sequence of LUWs defined in the application cannot be kept. Therefore, there is no guarantee that the transactions are executed in the sequence dictated by the application. The only guarantee is that all LUWs are transferred sooner or later.
Queued RFC (qRFC)
To guarantee that multiple LUWs are processed in the order specified by the application, tRFC can be serialized using queues (inbound and outbound queues). This type of RFC is called queued RFC (qRFC).
qRFC is therefore an extension of tRFC. It transfers an LUW (transaction) only if it has no predecessors (in reference to the sequence defined in different application programs) in the participating queues.
Implementation of qRFC is recommended if you want to guarantee that several transactions are processed in a predefined order.
RFC: Data Transfer
All RFC types are transferred by means of CPI-C or TCP/IP. They constitute a form of gateway communication.

Having trouble running multiple instances of Firefox in XenDesktop 7.1
We recently upgraded our Citrix environment to XenDesktop 7.1. We published Firefox, but only one user at a time can have the program open. When we try to run multiple sessions, we get this error message "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
We've had it published in previous Citrix environments with no problems. How do we need to configure Firefox in XenDesktop so that multiple users can run the program at the same time? Thanks.I do not understand virtualisation.
I can however say that ordinarily Firefox needs each user to have a separate profile and for Firefox to open simultaneous multiple instances with separate profiles the ''-no-remote'' argument needs to be used.

whenever it runs in the task sequence the TS fails. I am running this via the command line option in the task sequence, each time running this step as 3 different types of administrators.

I am new to both SCCM and Powershell, but from my point of view, this should work, considering that the syntax is not actually incorrect? Please could anyone with any idea drop some hints and tips on how to
stop this issue.I'm not using 3 admin accounts at once if that's how it sounded. I have tried 3 different Admin accounts because I felt that perhaps the difference in permissions may have made a difference in whether I was able to run the syntax and scripts. So I tried
using my own personal administrator account, the SCCMNA account, and the local admin account, which I read worked.
At this point in the task sequence I have:
- Installed the OS
- Connected to the domain
- Installed Applications such as; Flash, Shockware, Reader etc.
Once it has installed the last application within a folder called "Helper Apps" (Which contains various Java and Adobe apps which install fine) it will then run a "Use Toolkit Package" using the MDT toolkit, once this stage is complete
it then progresses to the Script Exception section of the TS.
powershell.exe -noninteractive Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy unrestricted
I obviously need this to work otherwise I am not allowed to run the script, but because this syntax is "incorrect" it stops the task sequence.
I hope this information might shed some more light on the situation. -
How to generate new spool on each run of program
Hi,
I am using FP_JOB_OPEN , CLOSE FM for generate my multiple PDFs into a single PDF form.

Next time we run the program it is appending to same spool number 100.
How can we get rid of this? These are my spool parameters.
fp_outputparams-nodialog = 'X'. " suppress printer dialog popup
fp_outputparams-dest = 'ZADS'.
I tried REQNEW inside the loop when i do that obviusly it is seperating pdf's .
How can i get rid of this issue?

PowerShell using start job to run multiple code blocks at the same time
I will be working with many 1000’s of names in a list preforming multiple function on each name for test labs.
I notice when it is running the functions on each name I am using almost no CPU or memory. That led me to research can I run multiple threads at once in a PowerShell program. That lead me to articles suggesting start-job would do just want I am looking
for.
As a test I put this together. It is a simple action as an exercise to see if this is indeed the best approach. However it appears to me as if it is still only running the actions on one name at a time.
Is there a way to run multiple blocks of code at once?
Thanks
Start-Job {
$csv1 = (Import-Csv "C:\Copy AD to test Lab\data\Usergroups1.csv").username
foreach ($name1 in $csv1) { Write-Output "Job1 $name1"}
Start-Job {
$csv2 = (Import-Csv "C:\Copy AD to test Lab\data\Usergroups2.csv").username
foreach ($name2 in $csv2) { Write-Output " Job2 $name2"}
Get-Job | Receive-Job
LishronYou say your testing shows that you are using very little cpu or memory in processing each name, which suggests that processing a single name is a relatively trivial task.
You need to understand that using a background job is going to spin up another instance of powershell, and if you're going to do that per name what used to require a relatively insignificant amount of memory is going to take around 60 MB.
Background jobs are not really well suited for multi-threading short-running, trivial tasks. The overhead of setting up and tearing down the job session can be more than the task itself.
Background jobs are good for long-running tasks. For multi-threading short, trivial tasks runspaces or a workflow would probably be a better choice.

Since I've installed Mountain Lion, I am having lock up issues with multiple programs. MS Outlook has crashed and I've lost all my folders. HELP?
okay I've finally been able to get tor and all the other programs to work according to my plan the only thing that's still making problems is that iptables doesn't work as I want it to, when I start chromium without proxy settings privoxy doesn't seem to forward the information to polipo.. do I need to add another rule to iptables.rules in order for the program to know it has to reroute the information again or how can I get this to work? and is there any way to run rtorrent with proxy support?
anyway, problem 2 and 3 are still to be solved.
and does anybody know where i can get a good dansguardian blacklist that was not designed for 6 year old children and for which I don't need to subscribe? I'm still getting these partypoker popups -.-
//e: with iptables it's the same thing as described in the first post. https works, http doesnt. I get the output "Invalid header received from client." on http sites. still no idea why though.. (and the https-version of torcheck.xenubite says i'm tor unprotected while starting the browser with iptables)
