Run Smart Index Wizard more than once?

Afternoon all,
RH8 generating WebHelp.
Quick question on how the Smart Index Wizard works. I've run it once, made no changes to any topic, ran it again and got many more entries added to the Index.
So, should one run the Smart Index Wizard multiple times? Until it says no more entries found?
Is it adding entries the second time based on the existing Index entries it's already created?
Thanks for any light you can shed...
Patrick

Colum,
Thanks for the reply. I'm rapidly coming to the same conclusion about the Smart Index Wizard. It looks like, if "Find New And Existing Index Keywords" is selected, the wizard will add keywords based on topic content AND existing index entries. This would explain why the wizard finds new words each time it's run.
My multiple runs of the wizard on my small project resulted in 6448 entries added the first time, 4191 the second, 154 the thrid and 69 entries added the fourth. Seems like it picks up nearly every word and phrase outside of the ignore list.
A lot of what the wizard puts out is clearly useless. The wizard is also not as useful as it could be since it filters on topic Status and not CBT. Howver, I've saved off the .hhk file as I do like to peruse it for words I've missed and suggested phrases. It's also good to give you a veiw of just how many places a word or phrase is being used - helps me to see how common it is and whehter I want to include it or not.

  • Can you run the Import Wizard more than once at the same time?

    We're going to run the Import Wizard to import content from one BO environment to another.  Can we, at the same time, run the Import Wizard to import different content between those two environments (using the same source and destination both times)?  Obviously we'd have to run the wizard on different workstations.
    Would this cause any issues?  If so, what kind of issues would you expect?
    Thanks,
    Laura

    Yes, this is possible.  The source and destination CMSs treat the requests from the Import Wizard like any other -- increasing the number of active Import Wizard sessions just increases the load on these CMSs.  Before running multiple Import Wizard sessions, be sure there is ample processing power (CPU / memory) to handle the increased load.    and of course, avoid 'touching' the same content in the two sessions in order to avoid unpredictable results.

  • My macbook pro is running slow and freezing more than once a minute.

    I do not know much about computers, but I do know this is not normal for my computer.
    Processor  2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1600 MHz
    Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.5
    So about two days ago I was using the computer and noticed that it was freezing and giving me the little spinning circle of evilness. This happens every time I open anything, try to type(which is making this an extremely long process), load a screen in the MMORPG I play(Or even just general play time).  I can be doing anything, and the computer will freeze for anywhere between 5 seconds, and up to 10 minutes. Things normally continue on fine, or sometimes my internet screens fail to load. I have ran ccleaner and cleaned up a few things, and then ran AVG which found quite a few files or something called Genio which I deleted. I have also upgraded all the latest updates that I can, but now when I try to open the app store to double check to see if there are any more updates, and it will not open, it freezes. I have reset my comps system management controller, and I have reset my PRAM. My desktop is not cluttered, and I'm more confused than ever.
    If there is any more information I can give, I will try. Please help??

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    The test works on OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later. I don't recommend running it on older versions of OS X. It will do no harm, but it won't do much good either.
    Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
    You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
    In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
    You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
    Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a general summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a particular line of text to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    These are not specific instructions; just an overview. The details are in parts 7 and 8 of this comment. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time.
    5. Try to test under conditions that reproduce the problem, as far as possible. For example, if the computer is sometimes, but not always, slow, run the test during a slowdown.
    You may have started up in "safe" mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. Load this linked web page (on the website "Pastebin.") The title of the page is "Diagnostic Test." Below the title is a text box headed by three small icons. The one on the right represents a clipboard. Click that icon to select the text, then copy it to the Clipboard on your computer by pressing the key combination command-C.
    If the text doesn't highlight when you click the icon, select it by triple-clicking anywhere inside the box. Don't select the whole page, just the text in the box.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window to activate it. Paste from the Clipboard into the window by pressing command-V, then press return. The text you pasted should vanish immediately.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, a series of lines will appear in the Terminal window like this:
    [Process started]
            Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
            Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
            The test results are on the Clipboard.
            Please close this window.
    [Process completed]
    The intervals between parts won't be exactly equal, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
    Wait for the final message "Process completed" to appear. If you don't see it within about ten minutes, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, press the key combination control-C or command-period to stop it and go to the next step. You'll have incomplete results, but still something.
    12. When the test is complete, or if you stopped it because it was taking too long, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak for themselves, not for me. The test itself is harmless, but whatever else you're told to do may not be. For others who choose to run it, I don't recommend that you post the test results on this website unless I asked you to.

  • Can I run Exchange 2013 Schema more than once

    I have started in installing Exchange 2013. I ran schema update using the Exchange 2013 RTM. Should I go ahead and install Exch2013 RTm and just run the updates afterwards or should I run schema update again using the Exch2013 SP1 setup.exe?

    Exchange 2013 CU5 is the latest one so if you haven't installed Exchange yet, I would suggest you to run the schema update again for
    CU5 and then install instead of installing RTM first...
    But if something is blocking you to run Schema upgrade again currently then you can go for Exchange 2013 RTM install too, only thing is you would end up spending double time installing and upgrading and fighting with known bugs between RTM and CU5...

  • Do not allow to run a program more than once

    Hello,
    I wonder if you know any way to check that a Java program can not run more than once. Let me explain, when the user runs a .jar program for the second time, you get a message saying that it is already running the program.
    Thank you so much.

    would something like this work?:
    import java.net.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class selfdestruct
         public static void main( String args[] )
              try
                   URL url = new URL( "http://www.yahoo.com/" );
                   BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader( url.openStream() ) );
                   String line = "";
                   while ( (line=reader.readLine()) != null )
                        System.out.print( line );
              catch ( MalformedURLException e )
                   e.printStackTrace();
              catch ( IOException e )
                   e.printStackTrace();
              System.out.print( "\n\n\n\n\n\nscramble class file? (type 'yes' to scramble)...  " );
              java.util.Scanner input = new java.util.Scanner( System.in );

              else

    Jcheese,
    I understood that if you call this script within DIAdem you don't get any error, however, when you run that script from another source (with DIAdem opened) for the second time you get the error, right?
    If this is the case, I think it might be that the file haven't close correctly in the script. Could you upload the script file?

  • Running the VI more than once, won't populate the array correctly!

    I have found something pretty weird while I was trying to do the following:
    I have an Array to wich I want to append a new set of data from two sources. To do
    this I found two different ways:
    1. I can take the array and append every element (from the sources of new data) to
    the array.
    2. Or, I can create a new array, and append it to the previous one.
    Every of those solutions is ilustrated in the enclosed VIs. But the second one
    doesn't work correctly. If we run it just once, it will display the correct data,
    but if we run it more than once, it will show the cells of the appended data
    empty!!!
    How come this happens? It seems I'm missing something very basic and i
    mportant.
    Thank you for your time and help.

    Hi,
    actually you don't need to add elements continiously to each other or to the array.
    The basic solution is to form the appropriate array and insert it into your array.
    I have made the example.
    Good luck.

  • How to use same page fragment more than once in a page,

    Hi Gurus,
    How to use same page fragment more than once in a page. I have a complex page fragment which has lots of Bindings (Binding Property set with backingBean variables).
    I want to use the same page fragment multiple times on the same page with different tabs.
    I want different ApplicationModule Instance for the page fragment in different tabs.
    So I have created a Bounded Taskflow with pagefragments which has this complex pagefragment.
    I've dragged the taskflow to page and created regions.
    I'm able to execute the page successfully when I have only one region but fails if I have region more than once in the page.
    Can anyone help me how to resolve this issue.
    Web User Interface Developer's Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework: section 19-2 states we can have same pagefragment more than once in a page.
    Thanks,

  • Bug! Hot-deploying the same bean more than once results in a DeploymentException!

    Hi all,
    Anyone else having this problem? When re-deploying an EJB within a
    running WL server 4.5.1 w/ sp9 more than once results in the following
    DeploymentException. The first time we re-deploy it works fine, but any
    re-deployments after that fail.
    This is potentially fatal in that if we have to make more than one
    change to a bean over time and re-deploy those changes, we have to cycle
    the server, which is NOT acceptable for a production environment!
    Any clues or workarounds would be greatly appreciated.....Thanks!

    how about undeploy an already deployed bean first and then trying to redeploy.
    becoz i know there's an option like that with DDDeploy. I am talking of 5.1 but the
    logic should probably work in 4.5 too.
    Try doing it and see what happens.

  • Duplicate entries / Employee is appearing twice in report (OR more than onc

    Duplicate entries / Employee is appearing twice in report (OR more than once)
    When I hire an employee, I assign the position, and based on the positions other values get defaulted /assigned to that employee.
    I have one case where employee has been assigned to one position, but with different position descriptions, and in report it is showing duplicate entries for the same personnel number, now client need for one personnel number only one row to display in report
    Also I tries to run , Birthday list standard report , it is also showing 2 entries (Or sometime more than 2)for the same personnel number , May I know why this is happening?
    And how to fix this bug
    Thanks and Regards
    Jaydeep Jadhav

    Hi,
    Can you check where the code is written to get employees from position, there may be two cases where multiple records exists for single person.
    1) When getting data for pernr assigning to a position they may missed out date condition. If so we need to bring only active positions assigned to that employee.
    2) There may be multiple positions assigned to a single person. In this case you need to ask the client what you need to do.
    Delete adjacent duplicate is may  not be correct solution as which position we need to delete is not sure. You check above two cases and go head.
    Hope this information will help you.

  • AddOn: Prevent from loading more than once

    Good Afternoon
    Experts:
    I appreciate you patience as I resurrect this topic since it has become an
    increasing concern here.  We need a way to restrict our AddOn from "being in"
    Task.mgr more than once.  We are working with Terminal Services.  A couple ways we have found more than one instance in TM is the User just opening another session or opening another session after a "problem/Issue/Crash".
    I have this code which restricts the AddOn from starting more than once here on my local machine:
    Public Sub Main()
            Try
                Dim x As Integer = 0
                Dim Ctr As Integer = 0
                Dim som() As System.Diagnostics.Process
                som = System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses
                Dim Name As String
                For x = 0 To som.Length - 1
                    Name = som(x).ProcessName.ToUpper
                    If som(x).ProcessName = "Test.Enhance" Then
                        Ctr += 1
                    End If
                Next x
                If Ctr > 0 Then
                    MsgBox("LBSI.Enhance AddOn is already started...Exiting application.", MsgBoxStyle.Critical)
                    Exit Try
                Else
                    ReInitializeAddOn()
                    Application.Run()
                End If
            Catch ex As Exception
                HandleException("Main", ex, True)
            End Try
        End Sub
    Is there a better more elegant way to do this? How about for Terminal Services?
    Thanks in advance for your insight,
    EJD

  • Report to select customer ID occuring more than once

    My report requirement is to capture transaction detail when a customer ID occurs more than once. Is there a way to do a sum count on the customer id in order to display the transaction detail. My current solution is to run a report where the customer count is greater than one, and then do a subquery against that data to display the transaction detail. I would like to be able to eliminate the subquery.

    Hi,
    You can create an analytic function to count the customer_ID per every transaction:
    count(customer_id) over (partition by ..<enter the fields of the report>.....)
    This will give for every transaction the number of transaction per same customer_id
    Now that you have it you can create a condition on it so
    that you will get only transaction with count customer_id > 1

  • Calling thread.start() more than once concurrently

    Hi, I got a simple doubt that may feel awkward or absurd to people who are well versed in the java threading concepts. I just thought of it and as I couldn't get an easy answer I am posting this.
    Consider a class that implements the runnable interface. The run() method of the class is implemented with just a System.out.println(). If I make an instance of this class, say 't' in the main method and calling t.start() susequently twice or thrice; an illegal ThreadStateException will be thrown. The code snippet is as follows:
    ThreadTest t = new ThreadTest();
    t.start();
    t.start();
    It is understood that state of the thread object is changed to run state and so, if it is again started, it must be thrown. So if I put a Thread.sleep() inbetween these two subsequent calls assuming that the main method thread will be sleeping. So there is sufficient time for the first thread to terminate and then only the second will start - still the same exception is being thrown. I tried putting the synchronized qualifier for run too, still no effect - the same only happening. Why the java thread object is made in such a way that once the thread changes it state from Runnable to Running and then finally to dead state, it can be restated back to Runnable state, such that the start() method can be called again. Is it possible or not? Please post your comments.

    As ejp says you can't start a thread more than once - even if it has already terminated after the first start.
    By making threads a one-shot it simplifies reasoning about them: you don't have to wonder whether a second start() will work or not, depending on whether the thread has completed its first "incarnation". It also makes it easier to ensure thread resources are reclaimed. It also avoids semantic issues like whether anything about the thread is "carried over" across incarnations.
    This might seem a limitation but there are many ways around it - simply don't let the thread terminate. Whatever control structure you would enforce by re-starting the thread can be emulated without letting the thread terminate in between "executions".
