Run the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) to install the SOA and MDS schema

Hi
I am new to SOA Suit and RCU installation.
Can any one help me to provide a link to download RCU for linux OS 64-bit.
how to Run the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) 11gR1PS3 to install the SOA and MDS schemas (Please provide the doc file are installation steps)
I have installed following softwares
1. Install Linux OS 64-bit
2. Install the Oracle 11gR2 (11.2.0.1.0) 32-bit or 64-bit Database.
3. Install WebLogic 11gR1PS3 (10.3.4.0) 64-bit.
4. Install SOA Suite 11gR1PS3 (11.1.1.4.0) 64-bit

Prerequisites & Recommended Install Process
Repository Creation Utility 11.1.1.4.0 Size: 308 MB, Check Sum: 2446020112
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/soasuite/downloads/index.html
but I didn't saw rcu.sh but I saw RCU_HOME/BIN/rcu.bat file, which is support windows environment.
I am looking RCU for linux OS 64-bit.
if the same will use for both windows and linux that to 64-bit. please help me the RCU runing steps

Installing Repository Creation Utility (RCU)

I am running the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) to create the schema object for Portal, Forms, Reports, and Discoverer in my database. However, I get the error message:
“The database you are connecting is with non-AL32UTF8 character set. Oracle strongly recommends using AL32UTF8 as the database character set.”
I click the “Ignore” button but the script will not accept the Ignore option.
Does this means I must create a new database with the AL32UTF8 character set or is there a work around?

I decided to go ahead and create a new database with the correct character set.

Install Repository Creation Utility [RCU] for Discoverer 11g

Friends !
Please help me in answering below quesitons.
1. We are implementing Discoverer 11g on Sun Solaris 64 SParc systems
2. For this i did download software using "edelivery" - Oracle Fusion MiddleWare 11g.
3. I did installed Weblogic server
4. But there is no "Repository Creation Utility " for solaris env. Is it mandatory to install Repository Creation Utility for discoverer 11g installation
our main goal is to install discoverer 11g and integrate with e-business environment 12.1.3
Please advise on this

Section "5. RCU only on Linux x86 and Windows 32 bit"
This states:
"Since the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) is only available on Linux and Windows, how can I create schemas in other supported Oracle Database platforms?
Answer:
RCU is only available for Windows 32 bit and Linux x86. Run RCU on these supported platforms to remotely access a certified Oracle Database Server (see Certification Guide) by following the RCU User's Guide"

Getting Error while installing Repository Creation Utility (RCU)!!!!!

Hi,
While installing RCU, I was getting the Invalid Username/Password error on Database Connection Details Screen when i give sys userid. on Database Connection Details Screen I was trying to connect with sys user but failed then I used system user and it got connect.
Then on Component screen, I was getting the below error.
RCU-6083:Failed - Check prerequisites requirement for selected component:ORAESS
Please refer to RCU log at /u01/app/oracle/logdir.2009-12-22_16-46/rcu.log for details.
Trying to connect as a non SYSDBA user. User should have SYSDBA privileges to successfully load the ESS schema.
RCU-6092:Component Selection validation failed. Please refer to log at /u01/app/oracle/logdir.2009-12-22_16-46/rcu.log for details.
I do not know why i am unable to connect with sys user as i am giving the correct password. Now i have changed the sys password but still unable to connect.

Installing Repository Creation Utility (RCU) for OBIEE 11g

We are working on installing the Oracle Business Intelligence Entreprise Edition Plus 11g (v 11.1.1.6.0) for a POC in our Company's network.
We have to install the OBI Server and other server-side components on a IBM AIX (64-Bit) server; and the client tools on the local Desktops.

*4. I will not be installing any of the Oracle BI Applications, so will I require the software Oracle Business Intelligence Data Warehouse Administration Console (10.1.3.4.1)?*

*5. IMP: Is there a Web server (E.g. Oracle WebLogic Server) included in the OBIEE suite, which gets installed in the default installation settings?*
OR Is there a need to download and install a separate Webserver on the AIX system before installing OBIEE.

Although it is a POC, but the installation has to be done on a AIX6.1 remote system, which will be used as a server in the enterprise, with 5 to 7 people accessing it. So 'simple install' is not suitable in this case.
The AIX6.1 system has a JDK 6 (64 bit).
I understand that the OBIEE 11g suite comes with a Oracle WebLogic Server (OWLS) installable included in the suite. However, in case of Software Only installation type, the OWLS needs to installed first and then the installer has to be started in 'Softwar Only' mode.
Could anyone please suggest:
*1) does 'Enterprise Install' type suite on the AIX6.1 system? If yes, does it mean that it will install JDK once again? is this recommended, as the host system is a shared server and the existing JDK 6 (64-bit) can be in use by other applications on this system.*
*2) If (1) is not true, is there a way to install the Oracle WebLogic server using the OBIEE 11g installer itself? or do I need to download the WebLogic server installer separately from the OTN site?*

How long should the Repository Creation Utility take for Oracle Portal?

I'm running the Oracle Repository Creation Utility (RCU) as a precursor to installing WebCenter, and the schema creation process is stuck on the "Portal" step. The first 10-12 steps each took less than 30 seconds to complete, and the last step has been going for 2 hours 14 minutes.
I checked the rcu log files, and they are constantly being updated with new progress information as though the process is still working. I haven't been able to find anyone else on the internet with this problem. From various screenshots on google, it looks like it can complete in under 10 minutes in some cases.

Is it showing some error ?
Check with DB settings and parameters properly.Usaully it should not take long time to complete.Possible chances are corrupt rcu file.I would suggest download again the RCU and re-run it.
Anyways in which version of DB you are trying to install ?(vendor and version).
Which version of RCU you are using ?

I am in the midst of installing WebCenterSpaces 11G and am at the point of trying to run RCU to create the Metadata repositories and am running into the following errors
RCU-6083:Failed - Check prerequisites requirement for selected component:OID

RCU-6107:DB Init Param Prerequisite failure for: open_cursors
Current Value is 300. It should be greater than or equal to 500.

The OWA_UTIL (Oracle Web Agent) package in the database is missing or out of date, extra time will be required to install this package. Click Ignore to continue with the installation, or Abort to exit.
Related to the RCU-6083/RCU-6107 errors from what I have seen in researching the resolutoin to this is to run the following SQL statemetn to modify the processes
alter system set process=500 scope=SPFILE
This has been performed on the database (an Oracle 11G Rac DB) and I am still getting this error if I ignore it the validation continues and it marks the OID component validation successful
Related to the RCU-6083/OWA_UTILS package being out of date I have not found any reported problems of this
Has anybody experienced these and have a solution?

I have been able solve the RCU=6083/RCU-6107 issue by having the DBA increase open curors by issuing
alter system set open_cursors=500 scope=SPFILE to the database
Per the RCU-6083/OWQ_UTILS package we have verified that the package does exist in the database and is in a valid state

Repository Creation Utility (rcu.bat) problem starting

Using "Getting Started with Oracle SOA Suite 11g R1 - Hands On Tutorial," Packt 2009.
Ran through the rcu.bat tool twice. First time had DB (Ora10.2) privelege problems. Tried to correct, then ran rcu.bat a second time, but had the same privelege problems.
Now I want to run rcu.bat (3rd time) using the Drop option to clean up the tablespaces before working with DBAdmin to apply correct priveleges.
When I run rcu.bat though, nothing happens. I edited the batch file to echo environment and command line--if you need that I can paste into this discussion.

Ravi, thank you for the info. But my problem is with the command script itself, or the Java application (maybe).
To clarify, I follow the instructions on page 49 of the book (above)...
- cd c:\stageSOA\rcuHome\bin
- rcu.bat
But, when I hit <enter> nothing happens. The first several times I ran the utility, this was not the case. It would take 20 or 30 seconds for the application to startup, but it did start. Now it does not start at all, ever.
I'm going to guess I caused an UNEXPECTED exit and left the environment (mayby a log or temp file) in a corrupt state. My problem is that I don't know how to fix this.

Are you initiating the RCU tool as "sys with SYSDBA" role ?

I have downloaded BIPublisher_11.1.1.3_Desktop and want to install it on my machine (windows 32bit).
in the tutorial, it is sad that before installing BI Publisher I have to execute the Repository Creation Utility ( RCU) scripts in Oracle Database 11g.
I have an Oracle 11g XE installed on my machine in C:\oraclexe, and it is started.
I have downloaded ofm_rcu_win32_11.1.1.3.3_disk1_1of1 package and started it.
I have a problem on a step 2 - Database connection. I get an error - Invalid service name.
Where do I get the Service name, please!?

I have installed BIPublisher_11.1.1.3_Desktop
I am entering:
http:/127.0.0.1:9704/xmlpserver/
and getting an error - Could not connect to...
The question is - How do you access BI Publisher interface?
Did I installed the correct version at all??

If you will be using Oracle Web Services Manager for use with Financial Close Management, Profitability and Cost Management, ERP Integrator, Financial Management, or >Provider Services, you must install the Repository Creation Utility (RCU) before configuring these EPM System products. The RCU creates the required schemas to work >with Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM).We are upgrading to 11.1.2.2. We will be using ERPi and Provider services. Should we be installing RCU? If yes, should it be installed on the database server or on the server hosting provider services?

There is an optional configuration for Provider Services to support "Essbase Web Services" where if you do that configuration you would require the repository creation utility. You will note in the new standard deployment documents that Oracle does not do that step. I also spoke with someone from Oracle ACS who mentioned they usually only do the OWSM configuration for Financial Close products.
So if you like to keep your configuration less complex do not do the OWSM configuration -- this does prevent you from doing some autuomation (this automation does require what is effectively custom coding if you were to do the automation).
Presuming you are using ERP Integrator then I do suggest you use RCU however as John G. suggested this can be done in a manual fashion (I'm not certain of where the manual procedure is documented off hand for the ODI repositories for the 11.x products. If I had to guess he has this well documented on his blog).

Repository Creation Utility - where is the RCU.bat ?

People:
I`m trying to run the Repository Creation Utility to configure dbs but i cannot find it ? it is part os soa 11g installer ? is it part of WL 11g installer ?
where is it ?

Nico,
You need to download the rcu zip file for Windows or Linux as appropriate. Extract this zip and then you'll find the rcu.bat or rcu run file in the bin directory.

Repository Creation Utility Problems

I am having an unbelievable amount of grief with the Repository Creation Utility.
I have an Oracle 11g database called ORCL running on a server with a static ip address.
I cannot get past the database connection screen
Whatever I try I get
Unable to connect to the database using the provided details.
Please enter a valid hostname and port or check if the listener is up and running.
This happens weather I run rcu remotely or locally.
I know the host and port are reachable because
telnet 192.168.1.5 1521
Returns the following
Trying 192.168.1.5...
Connected to centos5 (192.168.1.5).
Escape character is '^]'.
Which means that port 1521 on 192.168.1.5 is open and there's something listening on port 1521.
This works locally and remotely
I can connect to ORCL both locally and remotely via sqlplus.
The listener is definitely up and running
lsnrctl status returns the following

I notice that the service name has been changed to uppercase even though I entered it in lowercase. I've also tried putting the name in uppercase in my tnsnames.ora. No joy.
The rcu will connect to my xe database on another machine without any problems.

PS
I ended up using a 10g database. The RCU worked without difficulty.

You have 2 options to fix this problem.
1. Hack the RCU user creation script, (create_user.sql). For me it was located at (/rcuHome/rcu/integration/biplatform/oracle/scripts)
2. Borrow a shotgun and kill Oracle's DB product manager. (recommended)

I'm trying to install a development Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.7 (Weblogic, BPM, etc) environment in a Windows Virtual Box VM. I'm following the directions in the following document: Oracle Fusion Middleware Download, Installation, and Configuration ReadMe. I've installed Oracle 11G r2 and am on the step for using the "Oracle Fusion Middleware Repository Creation Utility". I have looked high and low and can't find this utility on the Oracle web site. Can someone PLEASE point me to the location so I can download it.
