Hello
I have an application written in VB6 which uses Crystal 9 Reports (RDC). The application is running on Windows XP, SP2.
On this PC is .net Framework 2.0 installed and since then from time to time I get the message:
run-time error -2147417848 (80010108), method '' of object '' failed
But this error doesn't appear always, but when it happens, it happens always at setting the datasource
example:
repReport.Database.SetDataSource rsDummy
Does anybody know why this is?

Hi, Urs;
Whereever the error is occuring, you should ensure you have the latest version of our files. For a client install, be sure that you are using the latest Merge Modules from our web site to deploy your application.
If you are not getting the error on your development system, you may have newer files there than on the client.

I have installed Crystal Report 2008 SP1 and the Business Objects Integration kit for 3.1 but when I try to create a report on top of an SAP BW query using the toolbar, after entering the logon parameters for SAP BW, I get a error message :

CR exits after this error message.
I have tried uninstalling the Kit and CR, cleaning up the registry, and installing it again and still got this error message - It is the same for all my SAP BWs.
Anyone ever had this?

When access BW from Crystal I get: run-time error '-2147417848(80010108)'

Installed Crystal and the SAP int Kit in the correct order. I can access R/3 but get an error when trying to access BW:
run-time error '-2147417848(80010108)'
Then Crystal crashes and shuts down.

Yep, I have the same... The only one solution for me for now is open report, then log in to BW using toolbar icon from SAP integration kit bar. Only after that you can work with this report without crash.

i am facing very strange problem when i excute query in BEX Analyzer. Vendor characterstic is displaying for all the row value Not assigned. i have checked the Vendor wheather it is having any data or not. Vendor is having data.
i found one thing wrong with vendor characterstic in Bex when i try to view the values of that characterstic in left plan of BEx designer. i am getting one runtime error .
Run-time error '-2147417848' method '' of object '' failed. when i click on ok on that screen. Bex is closing .

Check the Display as property of the Vendor characteristic
If it is Name make it Key.
May be it is bcoz u have not maintained the master data for it.

Hello friends,
My requirement is to make the cells under Columns Actual, forecast and target (Dimesnion Category) Locked.
I've used various methods like GetOnlyRange but it didnt work.
Now, i've selected all the cells of the sheet, where user can input and made them unlocked. ( from Right-click>FormatCells>Protection tab-->Locked checkbox unchecked)
Then, go to "review" tab, click "Allow Users to edit Ranges",-> Protect Sheet---> ticked "Unlocked Cells"
Then go to WorkBook Options and set a password for the worksheet.
But on expand, I'm facing Run-time error '1004' Application-Defined or object-defined error.
Please help.

When I am trying to restrict the key figure 'Amount' by value of 0COMP_CODE characteristics, I get a run time error.
It says that, "Automation error. The object invoked has disconnected from its clients."

check out the bw server connection to your BEX. select tools in bex and
select bw server connection and also check the details of bw server connection
if helpful provide points

BEx Analyzer error -2147417848 (80010108)

We are upgrading our GUI from 6.40 to 7.10, and with that, Analyzer 3.5 is reinstalled. When we try to open Query designer 3.5 or Analyzer 3.5, we get Run-time error -2147417848 (80010108), method logon of object _CSAPLogonConnection failed. We are unable to go any further. And advise would be greatly appreciated.

I just have a question, Im in the process to test Office 2010 and when I try to run BEx, Excel raise the following error.
*"Excel was able to open the file by repairing or removing the unreadable content."*
*"This workbook has lost its VBA project, ActiveX controls and any other programmability-related features."*
Do you know if we will be able to run BEx in office 2010? Does anyone knows if microsoft is taking care about make their office versions compatible with SAP?

Run-time error when saving Web Template

I recently got upgraded to Windows XP SP2 from Windows 2000. Since then, when I make a change to a Web template, it can be as simple as check a Web Item property, and then try to save it, I get an error. A window (called SAPBWWebAppDesigner) pops up with the message "Run-time error '-2147417848 (80010108) Automation error. The object invoked has disconnected from its clients".
I then get thrown out of WAD and have to log in again. has anyone encountered this behavior?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had a lot of troubles with WAD and there are two causes of those:
1. bad installation of SAP GUI and its add-ons (see note 197460)
2. bugs in WAD
Check note:
857360 and those (but they are pretty old) 815044, 318248, 647405, 573436,
Conclusion from above notes is to install latest GUI patch - talk about this with your basis staff (I think most recent for v6.40 is patch 11

SAPGUI 710 + BW3.x run-time error

Hi all,
I'm having a problem that is driving me completely crazy. I have a combination of systems available (Windows XP or Vista and Office 2003 or 2007) and they are all causing the same error for me.
As I write this I am using Windows Vista with SAPGUI 710 and office 2003, however as mentioned before the same error occurs with SAPGUI 710 and XP for me (different machines)
I have installed 710 with all the options from the files:
50083078_2
50083078_4
50083078_5
As instructed from the distribution center. I then installed support package 1 (gui710_1-10002995).
When I run BEx Analyzer 3.x, create a new query, and try to restrict a characteristic using a variable (in this case a selection option) as i drag the variable from the available list to the selection i get several of these messages:
Run-time error '-2147417848 (80010108)':
Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients.
Followed by:
Run-time error '440':
Automation error
Searches for these have yield me no results for 710 in combination with Vista or XP.

Goto http;//service.sap.com click on SAP Support Portal, you are going to need an 'S' number to login. Once you have logged in goto 'Help & Support', 'Search for SAP Notes' and in the top right where it says 'Number' enter the note number.

Unable to Create Query - Run Time Error

I'm try to create a query from a Cube .... the moment I drag 0CALMONTH and restrict it to Varaible Last Year This Month. I receive, the following error "Run Time Error 2147417848 (80010108) ....Automation Error. The Object Invoked has disconnected from its client.
When I check with Event Viewer : The following message appear " ID: 1, Application Name: Microsoft Office Excel, Application Version: 12.0.6324.5001, Microsoft Office Version: 12.0.6215.1000. This session lasted 1784 seconds with 780 seconds of active time. This session ended with a crash."
I'm running Ms Vista Enterprise OS with Office 2007.

Actually this is a frontend error.
Check the SAP Note Number: 1039191
Download the DLL.
Problem Description: There is a BI bug when we use BW3.5 frontend tool with BI7 datawarehouse workbench.
Symptoms: When you try to restrict an object in Query designer, it will greayed out by giving runtime error.
Solution: Take a backup of wdbspres.dll file which is present under C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\SAPgui. Copy the original
file with this new file available in project filder. Problem will be resolved.

while opening a query/ a workbook in the bex I get an error message "Run time error 2147467259 - The method 'position' for the object 'commandbar' was aborted."
Somebody has an clue what this is about? I know this error from VBA but I don't know how to solve it in relation to BEX...

VBA - Run-time error '32809'

I got an xlsm excel file. when open I got the following error window. Defug button greyed out. When clicking on End button, then error window is not closed. I have to use End Task to close it. It is the same error on different machines running on Windows
7 64bit with MS Office 2010. any suggestion?

I'm not sure what you mean by "the same condition" but obviously there is something different about all the setups that fail and the one that works. Is the Office version in all the setups that fail also Office-32 2010? However without knowing
what the error is in what I assume is a locked project it is impossible to tell you what the problem is.
Did you contact the author as I suggested before?

One of our users is getting the following Microsoft Visual Basic error while running the report S_ALR_87013614.
Run-time error '1004'
Method 'Container' of object '_Workbook' failed.
I have searched the forum posts for help. But I only found some details related to Run-time error 1004 related to some excel file security but not related to "Method 'Container' of object '_Workbook' failed".
Could anyone please tell me how this error can be eliminated for the user?

Dear Arpan,
We too observed a few PIDs along with the one that you have mentioned but they make no difference. Some users who has the PID G_RW_DOCUMENT_TYPE set with some value are getting the report.
Upon further searching we are assuming that it could be an issue with the Microsoft applications or macro settings of the user. But not sure about it.
