S cable vs. av cable vs. cheapos from radio shack

I just got my ipod video and am trying to connect it to the front av ports on my tv with no luck. i am using a working cable from radio shack that has 2 audios and one video from a headphone jack. i don't have the dock. this does not work. is apple's 'special' AV cables have anything different that will make this work? http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/StoreReentry. wo?productLearnMore=M9765G%2FA
I have not used the previous 4G photo ipod, so this is my first time to connect ipod to TV.

Abhay,
When I followed the instructions for burning DVD's to iPod video format on this board (just search for MacRipper and Handbrake on this board), a standard 2 hour movie comes out to 485 MB.
A video purchased from iTunes store is 20 MB.
On a side note: I'm storing my personal DVD collection on my video iPod so that I can have all my movies with me anytime. Scenerio: at a friends house on Sat night, nothing to do, let's watch a movie, oh wait, no DVD player, or no DVD's to watch, well let's just pull out a movie from my collection on my iPod. Just plug it into the TV and presto! you have your DVD collection at your fingertips! I have 20 of my favorite DVD's stored on my ipod and it takes up 8 GB.

  • Exchange iPhone 16 GB from Radio Shack to 32 GB at Verizon Store?

    Hello!
I recently joined Verizon Wireless 2 days ago and I purchased an iPhone 5s from Radio Shack and it's a 16 GB model. Now the issue is when I came home and I synced my iPhone, I noticed that not everything I desired to sync could fit in a 16 GB model. So I tried to exchange it for a 32 GB model at Radio Shack but they told me that they were out of stock and 16 GB was the only one they had available. They told me I could either go to Verizon or Apple to exchange it but I would like to know if I can do that? Will Verizon be willing to exchange it for a 32 GB model or what can I do? I don't want to keep a 16 GB model and I take fault in not determining how much space I would need beforehand. Please Help!

AlexRod3 We can answer that question. You can call the local Verizon Store in your area to make sure the 32 GB model is avialable http://bit.ly/3SdsA . You would need to return the current phone to radio shack in which there will be a $35 restocking fee then you can go to a VZW store and purchase your device. Have you considered utilizing the icloud or other storage options?

I need a reset and on/off switch. What do I need to be concerned with?
I have the wires but not the switch.
Can I just buy small switches that fit my leads or do I need to know amps/watts/roentgens  :D ?
Thanks if you can help. If you need more data I'll do what I can.
There is some data as to the system in this thread

    Thanks,

Just get the switches that fit where you want to put them.  There is nothing special about the regular switches since they carry very little current and are low voltage.

  • What type of cable is required to move photos from iPhone 4 to Mavericks iMac?

what type of cable is required to move photos from iphone 4 to imac mavericks?

The Apple cable that shipped with the iPhone - the same cable you use to sync the iPhone with iTunes on your computer, charge the iPhone with your computer and with the included power adaptor.

With a Mac you can use iPhoto to import photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll, or the Image Capture application as with any other digital camera with both applications included with every Mac.

  • Can I run a cat5 cable to a 4 port hub from a cisco router then connect one of the hub's output ports to an airport express to 'extend' my wireless range?

Can I run a cat5 cable to a 4 port hub from a cisco router then connect one of the hub's output ports to an airport express to 'extend' my wireless range?
    Flow would be
Cable modem---->cisco e2000 wifi router (This is broadcasting wifi but not strong enough)---->4 port hub ---->airport express (to extend the wifi in another part of house)
    thanks!

Yes, you can do this as you stated. In essence you will want to configure both routers for roaming network. Please check out the following Apple Support article that describes this type of network. Although this article uses two or more AirPorts, it can be done with just about any manufacturer's router.

IMO, wrong choice. Start over, using a FireWire cable and following the steps in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide.

It sounds like the drop damage more then just the lightning adapter.
I suggest you take it to Apple and ask them to check it out for you.

  • What is the process for connecting ethernet.  Have ethernet cable connected to stereo received for internet radio and Blue Ray. However Network System Preferences indicates ethernet not connected and has red dot to left.  Note Airport wireless is working.

What is the process for connecting airport extreme ethernet?  I have ethernet cables connected to stereo receiver for internet radio and another to blue ray player.  The system preference network indicates "ethernet not connected" with red dot to left of this message.  The airport wireless works and has green dot to left of it.  The stereo receiver and blue ray player do not respond and give message not connect to internet.  Thank you.  /  cfpirate

It worked for me finally. I took out the DNS numbers in airport admin utility, and restarted the airport express. I do not remember putting the DNS numbers in, I wonder from where the airport express got those numbers.
    After restarting, it worked.
    Thanks!

  • Radio Shack USB Link-Networking Cable...

I have a special USB cable, subject as above, and, though I wish I could post one, I don't have a photo and there's no link on the web, I reckon, to a photo. Anyway, this cable allows me to connect two PeeCees together, be they running Windoze 2000, NT, XP, ****, whatever. The software is GeneLink USB File Transfer and works really well. I'm able to transfer files effortlessly between computers, being exactly what I want to do. My day job is a Windoze shop. Outside of work, I'm a Mac person, through and through.
From my web searches, it doesn't look like there's a Mac-compatible software product - however, the cable was advertised as being "Mac-compatible" - well, Radio Shack doesn't much support this cable any more and asking them for assistance, well, it's a low priority...
My question: has anyone out there in Mac-land got this cable? And have you hooked up your Mac to a PC with it? What software did you use, etc.? thanks in advance.

Yes, I went to the AT&T store and they gave me another charger and it doesn't work. it might say it's charging, but the plug or outlet does not work. Same for the two car chargers i have purchased that used to work with the plug but no longer do. It is definitely the plug. But i can charge using the S&C cable that came with the Treo when I plug it in my laptop - (I am not sure which one you mean by the ones that have a space to plug the power cord in.) That is the only way I can charge my phone. So, I purchased the USB AC Charger hoping to charge it using the same S&C cable outlet using the USB to plug it in. Will a dock charger work if that original AC Charge plug is dead? Is there a licensed repair shop in LA that can fix the plug/outlet? I imagine something is loose or broken inside?

  • Accessing NMH305 via ethernet cable or usb cable to laptop

Is there a way of accessing the Media Hub (NMH305) via an ethernet cable or USB cable directly to a laptop, if so how can i do this, please.

Yes, it is possible to connect a computer straight to the mediahub since the media hub is also DHCP client. After that, you just need open a browser and type in the address bar the mediahub’s friendly name which is also mediahub and from there you should now be able to access the mediahub’s media browser.

Some cable detect by USB port directly like DKU-5.

    Hello,
These are two different technologies. One is USB oriented and another one for COM-port. I use CA-53 (USB-cable), which suits to the latest phones.

  • Has anyone tried to match music-files from Radio.fx?

    Hi,
i have a lot of my MP3's recorded with the software Radio.fx from Tobit-Software.
Radio.fx records internet-radiostations and automatically cuts it into mp3's including ID3-Tags, naming and so on.
MP3's obtained this way are 100% legal (at least here in Germany) as long as you pay your fees for the broadcasting-stations (in Germany GEZ).
The Files are 128 kBit/s or even better quality.
If i try to match my iTunes Library, which contains about 95 % Songs from Radio.fx i get almost no matches?
Has anyone else tried this? Any suggestions?
Updating Cover Art in iTunes and Genius-Scanning works fine with this songs... but Match doesn't seem to work.

So if anyone has a real technical advice for me, how i can change certain parameters of my songs to make them match better, i will greatly appreciate that.
Nobody will argue that the matching process can't or shouldn't be improved.  Certainly not me.  Certainly not Michael.  I expect there will be improvements in the coming months, but that does little for people like you and I who are trying to get iTunes Match to work for us right now.
As I believe Michael mentioned, there are some things you can try, and at the end of this post, I'll point you to a discussion that you might find helpful.
First though, I want to say that I've read many, many postings that Michael has replied to and he really has been very helpful to people like you and I who have been wrestling with some of the inadequacies and quirks of iTunes Match.  There are a lot of people who are having difficulty with iTunes Match - many, many more than there are people like Michael who donate a considerable amount of time every day to helping.  I, for one am very greatful for all he's done for me and many others.
I fully understand why he would want you to know up front, that no matter what you may do to try and alter your files, the chances of getting the success rate you desire is slim.  That is not to say you can't improve your results though.
But, one only has to read through the numerous postings related to problems getting all kinds of source material to match to know you are not alone.  Internet radio has its own specific set of issues (I worked in radio at one time, for what that's worth). The truth is, even people who purchased songs directly from the iTunes store, regardless of country, are finding that some of their songs do not match.
Now with that, I'll give you some background that may be helpful as you read through the link I'll send you.
Several of us using iTunes Match have a great deal of music that was obtained from vinyl source material.  We take great care to obtain the best possible quality recordings, meaning we have a fair amount of money invested in our equipment and have taught ourselves quite a bit about the recording process. We do what we can to get the best vinyl, spend considerable time processing the file to remove noise, and generally record at 96/24.  Many of us keep masters in FLAC or other lossless formats and tend to avoid lossy file formats if at all possible, though the final output files for iTunes may be lossy.  We do our work with our eyes on a waveform, and some of us have gone so far as to load a copy of an iTunes version of a song and compare it to the waveform of our record.
Now some of us really don't want our precious vinyl recordings to match, simply because we prefer the sound of vinyl. For some of us, having Apple give us an option to force uploads, to buy more storage is more important than getting matches. Yet, we've all been intrigued with the matching process, since initially we did not expect much to match and were surprised when it did.  So we've been experimenting.
Some of us have managed to get a 100% match on some albums, all but one or two tracks on others.  Albums that were pressed fairly recently and are in good shape may or may not match.  Albums recorded in the 1960's sometimes match, though the albums themselves may not be for sale in the iTunes store, so instead of our entire album being matched, we get a match to three songs one one album, one or two on another, and so on (compilations).  The point here is that while we have been able to improve our success rate, we've certainly not cracked the matching code - though we have uncovered quite a few clues.
My guess is that if you read through the thread, you will see some things that you could try to improve your own success rate.  In this thread, I believe you will find most of the experimentation that has resulted in improved matching can be attributed to a fellow who goes by the name robeet.
I do wish you the best of luck.
