S10e shutting down when moving the unit
It seems that the system is shutting down after moving the unit from its base. Crashes often.
Power problem? Require a motherboard change?
Hi jharinstein,
The issue could be related to system board as you may get it check with the service center.

7. If you are using more than one video adapter, remove the additional cards.
Multiple video adapters can cause problems when OpenGL and Photoshop use the GPU. It's best to connect two (or more) monitors into one video adapter. If you have to use more than one video adapter, make sure that they are the same make and model. Also make sure that they both support the same versions of OpenGL and Shader Model. Otherwise, crashes and other problems can occur in Photoshop.
Note: Using two video adapters does not enhance Photoshop's performance. -

Randomly my husband:s MBP shuts down when using the super drive. What could be the cause of this?
Appreciatte your HelpYeah, I hope it is just a firmware-problem. AND that Nokia will release an update soon. The version on my phone now is 021.013, and it is from July. A firmware update is long overdue now, especially after all the other problems reported with this phone. And btw I have turned the phone on and off several times without this helping to fix the radio-issue...
I guess I will have to return the phone soon, if Nokia is unable to release a fixed firmware. -
When moving it will sometimes shut down when put down ever so gently. Any suggestions?
Hey chaz and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
When moving it will sometimes shut down when put down ever so gently
It would help to know exactly which iBook we're talking about here, speed and size.
In general, if you're only on battery power when this happens, I would check the battery lock they can get loose and need tightning. Dirt/corrosion there can also cause this symptom.
Also the battery interconnect board, Corey Arnold problem U28, possible short in the inverter cable.
Do some more diagnostics; move the display, leave it on with the display flat on the table an the lower section up, pull the power lead and try to disturb just the battery.
Post back.

Auto shut-down when connecting USB-units (on some units..)
Hi there.. i just bought this mainboard :
MSI K9N Platinum, nForce 570 Ultra, DDR2, Socket-AM2,2xGbLAN,Firew, ATX, PCI-Ex16
Version :
MS-7250
I have read the "shut down" issues from the sticky topics in this forum, and i want to know if this is the same issue...
Here we go :
I have approx 3-4 connected usb units which works perfectly well..
- My 3Com OfficeConnect Wireless USB Adapter
- My wireless keyboard
- A usb memory stick..
These work perfectly well..
I also have a Lacie USB 2.0 External Harddrive which works ok enough sometimes.. but it's kinda unstable..
What doesn't work at all.. is my Sony Ericsson W950i when i connect it to _any_ usb port on my computer..
What happens :
When i insert the usb-cable into the phone.. and win xp (pro sp2) detects the phone, it immidiately shuts down the pc.
Sometimes i have to unplug the power cable for about... 20 seconds to get it to boot again at all.. but most times it's enough to boot as normal.
Is there _anything_ i can do to fix this ? ... or.. do i have to get a replacement motherboard (newer version)..
PS !!!
*I also tried to flash tie bios (the windows way), but after pressing the "start" button for flashing.. nothing happens.. nothing at all.. Weird
Any ideas on this is rewarded with a digital beer
Best regards
Terje.-..-I'll provide some more (a LOT) of information..
It's part of the report from Everest Ultimate Edition...
I have read thorugh all the posts regarding the USB-trouble (which you linked).. but it's not the same problem as i have (atleast it doesn't seem so..)
I didn't connect anything to the 10'th pin (USBOC)..
--> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=57472.0
As you see from this log.. some usb-units are already listed there.. and a lot of other usb units works perfectly well..
It's just a external harddrive, and my phone (both USB connectors) which shuts down my pc...

Unexpected Shut down when moving macbook pro on my 'lap'
In the last month or so, I've been suffering from an unexpected shut down of my mac book pro - which is quite annoying.
The issue seems to be (and it is reproducable) that after a few minutes (or seconds sometimes) of moving my mac from a flat surface (e.g. a coffee table) onto my 'lap' the computer just shuts down (no warning).
I can reproduce this by holding my mac in both hands above my lap and rotating away from me (i.e. screen closer and keyboard futher away)....
After some googling, I think this could be related to the sudden movement sensor (and a suggestion was to reset my smc by doing shift-ctrl-option-powerbutton when the mac was powered down). But this hasn't worked.
Anyone experienced similar issues?
I'm using a 17inch early 2011 mac book pro, running OS X 10.8.3 with the latest software updates installed.
It doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing, i.e. watching videos, writing emails, using lightroom, photoshop.
I wonder if this is related to any recent udpdate?
Thanks

Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

TS3274 Ipad keeps shutting down when on the internet
When using Safari, Facebook or Pintrest my ipad shuts down and returns to the main page. I can tap Safari the page resumes but after a few min or so, sometimes just a few seconds it returns to the main page on my ipad. Any ideas on how to fix? Rebooted, have my debug set to on, updated ipad but it did not solve my problem.
Try closing all of your apps. If you are on ios 6, then double tap the home button and hold down one of the app icons until a - symbol appears, like if you want to move apps on your home screen. then close all of your apps. If you are on ios 7, then double tap the home button, and when the different app windows appear, swipe up on them to close them. Once you have done this restart your ipad by holding down the home button, and power button to turn it off. Then hold down the power button for 2 seconds to turn it back on.
I hope this helped! -
2 times in the last week when i have picked up my macbook to place beside me it has shut down, and takes a little while to turn back on, when it does turn on again the date and time needs to be reset and wifi password needs to be re-entered as well..
I have no idea what is going on but i dont like it... any help would be great !!That battery is relatively healthy, say relatively due to the high cycle count, the number of full charge cycles it has had. The lower capacity simply reflects the high number of charge cycles and is not an issue, only a measure of how long the MacBook will work when running on battery power. The voltage is right where it should be for a MacBook, in the range of 11.5 to 12.5 volts...12.3 volts is a strong battery.
Now to the auto-shutdown for lack of a better term - that sounds a lot like something loose inside the MacBook that when jarred shorts/shutsdown the sytem with a loss of basic information. You could try things like an SMC reseet or PRAM reset but I seriously doubt they would have any affect. Best option would be a visit to an Apple store genius bar to have the techs run some diagnostics to see if they can identify something going wrong inside.
Hope this helps and you can find resolution...auto shutdowns of this type are not really good for the system. -

After updating the files, when I try to move them back to their folders, every time I try to scroll down to select the folder to move them to, the app shuts down.
Hi,
We have fixed the issue and are waiting for apple to review/approve it.
Thanks for your patience.

Illustrator shuts down when moving an object
When I try to move an object with my mouse, the entire Illustrator program shuts down. I have Illustrator CS6. I can only move things with the arrow keys on my keyboard. How can I fix this problem so I can move things without Illustrator shuting down?
mrm,
If restarting fails to solve the issue, you may proceed down the following general list.
You may try the following (you may have tried/done some of them already) and see whether it helps (the following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file; 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences):
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

When using bootcamp computer shuts down when turning the screen down.
Im using the latest version mac os x macbook retina 15display. When im running Windows 8 through bootcamp I'm having problems when turning down the display the computer always have to reboot again. I have to start it and choose to boot from Windows 8. But when entering Windows8 again it will remeber its state from when turning the screen down. This also causes a problem that I can not use only a single external display because I always have to have my screen up because when turning down it will shut down and my usb devices as mouse or keyboard will no be able to detect the computer. This is not a problem on my Mac Os X partition.
the behaviour of various things like closing the lid is something one controls in the control panel in windows under powersettings same as with all windows laptops

ITunes Shuts Down When Launching the Store
I am able to open and use iTunes normally for playing songs and playlist organization, but every time I try to launch the store iTunes shuts down completely. No error message or warning. I have not had any problmes with it in the past, and nothing has changed as far as settings or new hardware/software. As far as I can see all firewalls and anti-virus programs have been turned off, and I am able to log into other file sharing services fine. Could it be a low memory issue?
Anyone have any ideas??
All advice and help is appreciated...thanks!!
Windows XPI am having a similar problem at home but I have found a pattern. I have itunes installed on my laptop. When I launch the store through my connection at work everything works fine - the CPU is only 60 % peaked at the worst time and this is with MS Excel, and a TV streamer working simultaneously. When I attempt to lauch the store at home on my laptop using either a wireless or a wire connection through my Xplornet satellite connection the connection freezes, my CPU is 100.0 % used. and and the system is frozen. I can still play tunes from my library but itunes is functioning very slowly.
I also frequently get a message using the help function in the program that I do not have a "secured connection to the store.
This problem just started after Xmas and I also installed the new Itunes version. Everything was perfoming fine at home with all of my computers. Now both my desktop and laptop suffer the same consequences
Like you, all of my firewall and Explorer settings are correct. Based on my opposite results and consistentcy, I therefore contend its the internet connection that appears to have some bearing on the problem. I also removed Norton from all of my systems and replaced my protection with something less greedy on my resources. Although my connection is not true high speed from a performance standpoint it is still approx. 80 - 90 times fast than an analog connection. Because I live in the country where true high speed connections don't exist, this is as good as it gets.
Check your signal strength in your internet connection. It would be appreciated if Apple could respond to my email last week. After all we are the ones prepared to buy downloaded music and we can't without getting these bugs resolved.
Should I reinstall the old Itunes version ? There is an old saying - " If it works fine - change it ! "
Thanks -
I'm having a very bizarre and confusing problem with my Macbook (White, 2 GHz, 1 GB RAM) which started about two days ago.
Basically, when I move the Macbook, it shuts off. At first (two days ago) it was only happening when it was tilted to its left side. Now, if it is sitting on a desk/my lap and I so much as attempt to lift it *note: i'm not even really lifting it off of the table by more than a milimetre* it will shut off completely.
The first time it happened and I rebooted, I would get a perpetual beachball over the spotlight icon and the Airport card was apparently no-where to be found. Booting into safe mode and clearing the cache files seemed to fix everything, though. In subsequent movement-induced-shutdowns, this has not happened.
I don't know if this is related, but when I plugged in the USB cable for my iPod in the USB port next to the Firewire port I saw an orange flash/light in the firewire port.In an attempt to reproduce this orange flash/spark, I discovered that this too, will trigger the Macbook to shut down **however, it will not always cause it to shutdown**. This happens regardless of whether or not the Macbook is running off of battery/plugged in.
Obviously this is a bit disconcerting, since I can't carry the laptop anywhere while it's 'sleeping'. In fact, I can only use it on stationary objects! So ... arg.
I'm not sure what to do, or if this is fixable by me, or if this has been mentioned before? Any help ?
I suppose I should add that i've never dropped it or caused it horrible harm, and up until this point I have had no issues with it. I believe, if I am deciphering the serial# correctly, that this is a week-26 Macbook.
Thanks for any help,
-ben
Macbook Mac OS X (10.4.7) 2.0 Ghz, 1 GB RAMMy daughter's Macbook has begun to experience intermittent shutdowns for no apparent reason. We purchased the machine new in June. I have been wading through the do-it-yourself "help" literature on the Apple website, but not being a Mac person myself, I feel like I am on a bike mounted backwards. I did find a notice posted Sept. 13 telling users of Macbooks experiencing intermittent shutdowns to contact Apple technical help - that took me on a loop back to the same tech help website page. I notice there is another thread addressing shutdowns, which I will now turn my attention to in search of answers. In the meantime, is there anyone out there reading this reply who can offer advice, help?
