Safari 6.0 Twitter share doesn't auto fill

Hi all,
When I tweet a page using the Share function in Safari, it doesn't auto fill if I enter @[and then the twitter name of someone in my contacts].
I've read that the auto fill doesn't pull straight from Twitter (which is a pain), but that it does pull fro your contacts if you have the Twitter name of someone recorded in their contact info. But mine doesn't pull from contacts either.
Is Twitter auto fill working for anyone in Safari 6.0's Twitter share function?
Thanks
James

Different systems and your iPhone isn't hitting the same website as your Mac. It will be redirected to a mobile version, which likely is formatted differently.
If you know of someone who has it working that way in Safari, you might try Resetting Safari from the Safari menu.
Are all the other options checked in Safari Autofill preferences?

  • "TO" field in Thunderbird 31.4.0 doesn't auto-fill as well as previous versions. Why so?

Previous versions of TB wold auto fill "TO" field as soon as the characters were unique. E.g., I have Manny in my address book. In earlier versions, if I typed "man", the field would autofill to Manny. Not true now. Que pasa?

I did a bit more research: I tried setting the CodedCharacterSet to utf8 myself:
    exiftool -IPTC:CodedCharacterSet="UTF8" LR1.4.jpg
...thus forcing Exiftool to interpret the iptc tags as UTF8, but that didn't give me readable IPTC tags:
    [IPTC] Object Name : ? ? ^' * ? Erik
    [IPTC] Caption-Abstract : Her ?r n?get m?rkeligt text. J???*@
Which led me to believe that Lightroom for Mac OS X isn't writing IPTC tags in UTF8 after all.
Finally I tried saving the content of the IPTC tags to a file, and opened that with TextMate, forcing it to interpret it as MacRoman. That worked. There were still a few weird characters here and there, but the danish characters were displayed.
So apparently Lightroom 1.4.1 and 2.0b on Mac OSX are saving their IPTC tags in MacRoman encoding. I would *really* like an option to have IPTC tags written in UTF8, because the IPTC tags currently generated from my Lightroom on Mac cannot be read properly on Windows or Linux systems.

  • 1Password doesn't auto-fill logins on some websites

    Using iMac, OS X 10.6.8, 1Password 3.8.1
1Password will not auto-fill logins for some websites. E.g., VISA & my bank sites.
    Thanks!

    Hello Mike:
Some web sites deliberately prohibit auto-filling of fields. This is normally for security reasons (banks, credit cards). There is nothing that I am aware of that you can do to override the coding on those sites.

  • My Safari Auto fill forms never works

My Safari (V5.0.1 (6533.17.8)) Auto fill forms never works. It is precisely tied to my
address book card. I get this message:
AutoFill completes webpage forms using information from your Address Book card or from web forms you completed previously. The information required by this form does not match any of the information available to AutoFill.
    but every thing matches.
And yes prefs checked to use address book.
    Any thoughts please? Thanks

    HI Steve,
Open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left.
Delete the "Safari Forms Autofill" keychain.
    Relaunch Safari.
    Hope this helps...

  • Why is Safari no longer auto-filling in passwords?

Up until this morning, Safari and Keychain were working and would auto-fill in passwords to various websites. I changed no preferences, deleted no keychain items, nor made any changes to the security settings, but now Safari refuses to fill in passwords. I also can't find these passwords in the Keychain Access; if I *change* the password, Safari asks if I would like to change the stored password. If I say 'yes', there is still no password recorded in the Keychain. If I try to make a new account on a website with a new password, Safari pops up with its usual suggested password; if I select it and move forward, I can not find this stored password anywhere (either Keychain or Safari). ***? I should just use 1Pass and Chrome.
The only weird thing that happened was I was trying to select between two different accounts/passwords on a website; it gave the usual beige/yellow selection box for selecting which stored password/acct to use, then it just went away before I could select something. After that, the above behavior started.

Back up all data. Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm—the data will remain on the servers. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device. Test.

  • Can't share Safari link via Twitter on iPhone5

    Hi all,
I've just upgraded to an iPhone5, latest iOS (6.1.4) and restored my old iPhone 4 set-up via iCloud back-up. Everything's fine so far, except for my Twitter account. It works fine, until I try to share a page I've opened in Safari via Safari Twitter share button. I just get a message telling me 'Cannot send tweet [link details] because the connection to Twitter failed'.
I can RT and send Tweets, I'm signed in to Twitter via the iPhone app and via Safari. If I check my Safari settings, there doesn't appear to be anything I can set or change to sort things out. In my Twitter settings, I notice there are only two apps listed under 'Allow these apps to use your account' (and one of them, bizarrely, is Twitter!). There doesn't seem to be any way to add an app to the list that Twitter can use. What's annoying is that on my iPhone 4 there were a whole bunch of apps that I could use with Twitter.
Restoring from my old phone back-up should have simply transferred everything over as it was. That's what's happened with everything else I've checked. I'm guessing, only guessing, that my problem might have something to do with how Twitter is integrated into Safari in iOS 6 in a way it wasn't before.
The only other thing that could affect this is the fact that, because I was on an iPhone 4, I didn't upgrade to iOS 6, sticking with the final iOS 5 instead. Even so, I had no warnings or prompts telling me this might be a problem when I upgraded.
Sorry for involved explanation, but if anyone can help, I'd be grateful.

Thanks. It turns out the solution is simpler, but extremely annoying. Despite being signed into Twitter on my twitter up and being able to use Twitter in every way possible except for sharing, it turns out that I had to be signed on on my phone via my web browser version of Twitter for it to recognise that I was connected to Twitter. It makes no sense, and also means that the transefr between iPhone 4G and iPhone 5 is not quite as thorough as it wants us to believe, because everything was OK on my previous phone. Although I must confess I don't remember logging in via my browser on that - it was some years ago though.
So, resolved, and perhaps a minor irritation - but one of those times when you wonder if things could be a little more intuitive.

  • BIG problems with iOS 8.2 Safari ("dark mode" menu bar, no auto-fill, etc)... HELP, please?

So I was simply wiping the dust off my screen, with Safari open, and once I had finished... Safari just went belly-up.
And I need some help badly.
First thing that I noticed was that Safari now has a "dark mode" menu bar.
Secondly, my auto-fill user names and passwords no longer "auto-fill" - I have to place the cursor in a field and have the keyboard pop up in order to access the auto-fill function: previously, the fields simply, well, auto-filled.
And, thirdly, when I attempt to post a message to the Apple Support Communities, there is no visible text in the body of the text. I'm using my MacBook Pro to type this message.
I have searched and searched to try to find remedies to my problems, but I can't find a thing. There's nothing unusual in Accessibility (that would make the whole screen, for example, grayscale), nothing changed in passwords, etc.
I'm at my wits end! Even restoring from an older backup doesn't remedy any of the problems.
    Can anyone help?

If the menu bar at the top of Safari show white text on a grey background, and autofill isn't working, then you probably have private browsing 'on'. Tap the icon top right of the Safari screen (the square on top of a second square), tap the Private button at the top of the next screen and then Done - Safari should then go back to its normal colours and autofill should work again

  • Why does my Safari Auto-Fill only work part of the time?

First of all, why isn't there a link on the Apple website to provide Feedback?  Secondly, I'd love to know why my Safari Auto-Fill only works some of the time, like when entering Sweepstakes information.  I realize some websites don't allow Auto-Fill, but on the ones that do, I can't get the second window to open up when I click "Auto-Fill".

Safari 6.1.1 and yes all web forms are checked under Preferences Auto-Fill.  I am daily entering sweepstakes for the HGTV dream home, and even though the initial bubble shows up "Auto-Fill your contact information" shows up, when I click on it, the second bubble that lets you confirm the info doesn't always open.  I tried it just now in a separate tab, and it opened; then I came back here to write some of the message.  Then I went back to try again and it won't open.  It drives me crazy.  I keep trying with each new data field and sometimes the second bubble will open further down the page.

  • Why won't  Safari auto-fill work most of the time?

Safari Auto-fill sends me a note it can't fill because the info doesn't match--but it does match. Won't even fill in address, etc. Happens about 60% of the time. Thank you!

    Hi cmate;
You might have better luck with your Safari question if you posted it over in the Safari forum.

  • Safari Auto-fill URL Needs Work

When I begin typing a previously visited website URL into the address field, that doesn't necessarily mean that I want to return to the same page of that site which I previously visited. That means, while it's nice to have the auto-fill (or auto-complete; whatever you call it) function, I would much rather it just autofill the homepage URL of that site. Even though a drop-down menu appears with suggested URLs, many of us just type and hit enter, only to find we've landed someplace else. Many times, previously visited pages have been changed or deleted and, instead of getting the all-too familiar 'Error 404' (page does not exist), I have to enter the URL again, and then delete the part of it that the auto-complete has erroneously guessed that I wanted. Take a tip from Netscape Navigator 4.72 for Mac: auto-complete ONLY the homepage URL... nothing more. Thanks.

    Hi Mike
From other related threads, seems a number of users are waiting for something different from Apple in this area. Sending feedback to Apple via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple is one effective way of reaching Apple Software Engineers.
In the meantime, the only effective work-around is to press the space bar before typing the URL. Of course, no prompts appear, however, the long list doesn't appear either.

  • 2013 Safari not auto filling password

Safari suddenly stopped auto filling userids and passwords.  I rechecked all of my "Auto Fill" preferences and they are fine.  It also is now saying that the password is changed and do I want to save the new one.  If I say Not Now I get signed in so perhaps the password keychain is corrupted; but, if I do say to save it, then the next time I sign in it still doesn't work.  Seems like Apple released a revision without testing everything.  Isn't that Microsoft's trick?

    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • Need help with Safari auto fill.

    Auto fill problems.
    1. It's spotty in its application. On some pages it works fine and fills in all fields with one click. On others it says "can't complete form", but then as I begin typing each field, it gives me fill in options. Why can't it just fill them in from the start?
    2. My name and phone number fields have bad values that it tries to fill in. I keep entering the right stuff on new forms, but it never seems to "learn" them. How can I find and remove or overwrite the bad values, without deleting all the other fields it has learned properly (do not want total reset)? I think it is getting the last name first version of my name from address book where I have that option set, but I don't want that in my web fill ins.
    3. Is there a master auto fill template somewhere with field names and values I can edit? Or does it collect this for every different URL I ever fill in, and so there is no way to set values I want used in all web pages?

    HI,
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Click the Edit button next to *Other Forms*. Remove all.
And under the Autofill tab, make sure: *User names and passwords* and *Using info from my Address Book card* are both selected.
If you have problems logging into a site...
Quit Safari (Command + Q) Now open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left. Delete any keychains for sites you have problems logging into.
Now relaunch Safari. Login to a site with your user name and password as you normally would, then click Yes when prompted. That will create a new keychain for you.
Keychain Access stores your passwords securely.
Or does it collect this for every different URL I ever fill in,
Correct. But only if you have *user names and passwords* and *Using info from my Address Book card* selected in Safari / Preferences - Autofill.
Another suggestion when having problems using a website, is to delete the cookies. Go to Safari / Preferences / Security. Click *Show Cookies*. Delete the url's for that site then relaunch Safari.
