Safari 6 and Microsoft Sharepoint
I updated to Safari 6 this morning. Now the Microsoft Sharepoint server we use at work won't properly (500 Internal Server Error). Are there any fixes for this on my side, or do I need to talk to the Sharepoint folks?
Never mind...I found the "Hot Spot" at the bottom of the Show All Bookmarks page and dragged the page up to reveal the bookmarks. What a stupid default view! Jerry

IPad on a Windows Network and Microsoft SharePoint
I have just bought an iPad for work. I connected to our corporate Wifi no problems. I want to use the device to connect to our Microsoft SharePoint, which I can do, but I keep getting asked for a username and password when I browse different pages. Is there any way to stop this. Can Safari some how remember my username and password so I don't have to keep typing it in.
Are you just navigating to pages within the same site structure. We are currently using an iPad with SharePoint and only get asked for username and password if we loose connection to our server. Basically, we are using it to gather data by having the users to fill in several custom list forms so most of the time we are only navigating to a few pages within this site but I am able to navigate to other parent and subsites without being asked for credentials. We are running on Sharepoint 2007 server.

Hi
in my single server these below service are running:
SharePoint Server Search
User Profile Service
Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application
here how i scale out Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application to another server
and SharePoint Server Search to new index server.
adilCheck here to see how to add servers to the farm:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc261752(v=office.15).aspx
What Inderjeet meant was that if you chose to install SharePoint as a single server instead of a complete farm, you won't be able to add servers to the farm at a later time. You can check if this is the case by checking the registry key he mentioned. If
that is indeed the case, there's nothing to it but reinstall the farm.
So that is why you never should choose the single server option, it locks you in and limits future options, while choosing to install sharepoint as a complete farm it's still perfectly acceptable to host it on a single server.

Hi Community
I have an issue on a live SP2013 farm that is really causing me grief. Although I ( Farm Admin) and my other users can follow items which are subsequently confirmed in our respective News Feeds -
none of my users are are actually getting emails notifications .
Alerts ( did) work fine.
I have written some PS to vew and set the SPS-EmailOptin for each user
$up[$upManagerAttribute].Value = $managerNTName
# check if the email check boxes are unchecked '1' then if so check all
write-host -fore white "User Profile for user"$NTName "Now has email opt in currently set to" $up[$upEmailOptin].Value
if ($up[$upEmailOptin].Value -gt 0)
$up[$upEmailOptin].Value = 0
write-host -fore white "User Profile for user"$NTName "Now has email opt in all checked."
Very few are unchecked. $up["SPS-PrivacyActivity"].Value = 4095 is set for all users as in
the the privacy settings on the newsfeed are all checked
For my currrent client I set up a development intranet which had the seperate web apps for the main portal and mysites. Test users were able to follow documents, sites without any problems. Before go live I was asked to accomodate a requirement
where there is only one web application (don't ask!) effectivley http://myintranet
so mysites sits under http://myintranet/mysites . I made the appropriate changes to my AutoSPInstaller scritpt and al appearedd l good : services , Service appplications, mysites are all started. I am using
the two app pool accounts one for the portal and one for mysites.
A quick look at the the releated threads on this forum indicated permssions could be DB permissions related tho I am not seeing anything in ULS to strongly point to this
$webApp = Get-SPWebApplication http://myintranet
$webApp.GrantAccessToProcessIdentity("mydomain\SP_ProfilesAppPool")
- checked and SPAcess Data is given to the mysites app pool accout to the portal web app .
I am seeing some odd errors in ULS
Ignoring the space ' critical' warning which I have flagged up to Ops and I doubt is my real problem. The errors I see that are related are :

I sign in and when Safari opens, whilst Microsoft Messenger is downloading, the monitor screen vibrates between Safari and Messenger at a very, very, fast pace. Back and forth, back and forth, alternating between the two. When the booting process is completed the computer is fine. Everything is OK. Anyone know what is causing this, and what to do about it?
YES .... but they have always been set to open at login. I must admit that if Messenger isn't set to open at login this doesn't happen. But even though Safari opens at login, the opening page in Safari doesn't open; I have to click on Safari again, (when I am reminded after the computer has booted-up), because the monitor screen is just blank! Then after a click on the Safari icon the screen fills up in a second. Gees, what have I unintentionally done?

Can a safari and microsoft window share equal space?
Is it possible to have two application windows open (one say safari and the other microsoft word) and be able to see both windows at the same time clearly? For instance if I am in the process of writng a review on an article i read on cnn.com and i dont want to keep switching btwn. the two windows
Welcome to the discussions!
You can adjust the size of the windows to fit one side by side. Just drag the bottom right corner and adjust to fit.
The MB's screen is a little small for that, but it can work if you fiddle with it. -
On two different occasions after updating to Yosemite this has happened. On the first occasion I had two documents open in Microsoft Word and after looking something up on Safari, attempted to go back to the two open documents. Microsoft Word was showing as open, but the documents were nowhere to be seen and I also could open nothing else and was forced to force quit without saving my work on those documents.
A similar thing occurred today with Safari. I had many tabs open in one window in Safari. I closed my laptop to move to another room, and upon opening my laptop again Safari was still open, but all my tabs of different research papers I had were gone. When I chose the "reopen all windows from last session" option, it reopened windows I had not had open for many days, and not the ones I had been working off that day.
This is extremely annoying and as a scientist, I was forced to once again look up the many papers I needed for a grant proposal that I had not yet copied down reference information for. Why is this happening?I see you have used Clean My Mac. If you search these forums you will find that running apps like this can cause problems. Start with this link:

Safari and Microsoft Messenger
Hey All,
So I downloaded the beta of Safari the other day on my MBP. Ever since then, my Microsoft MEssenger crashes when I close conversations. Anyone else having the same problems? Is there another program out there that I can use to IM with people who use Microsoft Messenger? It's a work thing. Thanks everyone. I'm glad my mac wasn't the only one experiencing the issues. I just downloaded this week's update from Apple hoping that it would correct the problem, but it didn't. Oh well, I'm just going to use Adium from here on out.

Hello all,
I'd really appreciate any input on this issue. I'm not especially expert with regard to computer systems and software, so I ask that you please bear with me; I'll try to provide the best information I can. What has been happening with my computer is that it has been freezing and crashing, even with only Safari and Microsoft Word open. More information about the system as well as what I've done so far is below.
I have a mid-2012 13-inch Macbook Pro with a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory (two 2 GB cards), and an Intel HD Graphics 4000 card. I am running I have approximately 280 gigs free on my 500 GB Apple HDD. I am running OS X 10.9.3 (13D65), Kernel version Darwin 13.2.0.
In March or April of this year, my computer started seriously slowing down and freezing and crashing. (I think that this was around the time I upgraded to Mavericks, but am not 100% positive.) Since it is my only computer and I'm a PhD student, it took me until May to seriously address the issue. I ran Apple hardware diagnostics and the disk utility (verified the disk; verified & repaired the permissions), and tried uninstalling programs I thought might be causing issues, but nothing improved. Since it didn't appear to be a hardware issue, I decided to do a clean install of Mavericks with a full software update [and didn't use a time machine backup like I'd done in the past; I only backed up files and bookmarks this time and installed new versions of all my programs]. Although my computer ran better for a few weeks, it started slowing down again, and lately has been crashing on a near-daily basis.
After reading through the fora, I re-ran disk utility (disks check out fine; one permission -- for Safari -- seems to refuse to be repaired), re-ran Apple Hardware test twice (no issues found), and have been running the Activity Monitor [I put it in my dock with the bars showing CPU usage]. Today, when my computer started seriously slowing while I had only two programs open (Safari & Microsoft Word), the Activity Monitor icon on the dock showed all four bars at max.
I managed to get a few screencaps of the Activity Monitor:
So, this suggests to me that either (a) I have insufficient RAM to run Mavericks and run basic computer programs, or (b) there is some other issue.
Do you all have any recommendations as to the best way to proceed? I don't have a lot of cash, so I can't really spend money unless it is really warranted. Would it be worth running OnyX first? Or is this a pretty clear indication that I need new RAM? Alternately, are there any other issues that seem likely (an undetected hard drive problem, etc.)?
Thank you!Hi Melophage,
Thank you. Although it is possible something was running in the background, in Force Quit, the only applications visible were Finder, Microsoft Word, and Safari.
I ran Etrecheck and have included the output here:

Safari login with sharepoint- any advice and experience?
We're trying to use MS Sharepoint to facilitate group work and interactions. However, Safari will not authenticate properly: the login dialog keeps popping back up. Camino and Firefox both work, but it's an inconvenience and marginalization for Mac users to have to switch browsers for just this aspect of their work (I'm herding a pretty "diverse" group of cats at a University...). Does anyone have experience with this? Active Directory is involved and I've heard that a somewhat similar problem hits people using Vista. I'd suspect this is a Microsoft issue, but am wondering if anyone has found a workaround that allows use of Safari.
No solutions that I can find and I've searched all around the net. When I tested with Safari, just hit cancel after you log in once and refresh the page. From that point on it will work okay with Safari. Then again, just ditch Safari and use Firefox. It's what I use most of the time, except when I go here on Apple support site.

New Document' requires a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible application and web browser
Hi Guys,
I am getting the above message when I try to create a new Excel document from a content type.
The background is that I am configuring Content Types for a document library in SharePoint 2013.
The first content type I added was a business case based on a Word doc that is stored in a different doc library on the same site. This content type works fine. I then added a second content type that references an Excel doc in the same doc library as the word
doc.
Interestingly when you click new document from the Files Ribbon the Business Case content type displays with the word icon next to it. The content type that references the Excel document does not display the Excel icon though. Almost like SharePoint itself
does not recognise the Excel format.
Prior to posting this question I confirmed that I have Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support enabled as part of my office 2013 instance. I have also confirmed that SharePoint OpenDocuments Class control is enabled within my IE settings.IE version and Office that is installed in your computer should have to the same version (32-bit).

Requires a microsoft sharepoint foundation-compatible application and web browser
SharePoint 2010 version 14.0.7102.5000.
Clients are Windows 7 SP1, Browser is IE 10.0.9200.17296
Problem is the well known famous message 'requires a microsoft sharepoint foundation-compatible application and web browser' when the user chooses the button New Document.
Why this behaviour for this user is different then all the threads and blogs I read about this message is because of the following: I am logged on using my Windows account on my computer (VDI so I have the same computer as the user experiencing the
message) and don't have this problem. When the concerning user uses my logged on computer under my account and only logs in with his credentials within SharePoint (sign in as Different User) then the problem occures. I performed the same actions on the same
library as the concerning user.
So ruled out are:
- Browser version
- Office version
- windows User Profile
- x86 vs x64
- MS Foundation Support installation
- add on SharePoint OpenDocuments Class
Please help me out.Do you have different versions of Office or SharePoint Designer or any Office product installed?
You can try repairing office installation in that particular user machine and see what happens.
Thanks.
Sorry to say but software versions can be ruled out as I mentioned the user have the same problem when using
my logged on account in Windows on my computer. Only in the browser the user is logging in with his credentials. I don't have this problem when using this Document Library. -
Hi All,
I'm getting the below error in My SHarepoint 2013 search Administration page.
Crawler background activity - The search application 'Search Service Application 1' on server "" is not provisioned. Confirm that the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Timer service and Central Administration service are running
on the server.
and when i click on Crawl Log and content source
it throws the below error
The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether
the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress
When i check the search status
Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceInstance, it shows all the components are online.
As of now search service application is online and search is working. But not sure why it throws the above error.
I have restarted timer service, search service in services.msc and cleared the sharepoint cache as well.
But no luck,This is happening in my prodcution environment.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
