Safari and Firefox seem to have issues with Flash?

Hi - in the past few days every time I try to view a website with video, both Safari and Firefox hang with the beachball and I have to force-quit. I tested to see if it was just taking a long time to load, and it was still the same after an hour. I've read on this forum that Snow Leopard and Flash have some issues, and I've done everything suggested: un-installed Flash then re-installed the latest version, cleared out Safari cache and reset Safari, repaired disk permissions...I am at a loss. Any ideas are appreciated!

Hi,
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594
Make sure Safari is running in 32-bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.
If Safari still crashes, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If it's a successful launch, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.

  • Safari and Firefox Problems... possibly with flash plugin.

A couple days ago out of nowhere Firefox was crashing whenever i went to... well, most websites. Most noticeably Youtube and Tumblr. So I downloaded the newest versions of firefox and a plugin that was out of date, and the Flash plugin. It still crashed-- nothing changed.
So I moved on to Safari, it didnt crash when i went onto those sites. but i get a pop up message all the time, especially on those sites...

thats the message.. theres a lot more. But that makes me think its something wrong with the Flash plugin. Maybe the same thing is wrong with Firefox...
I have tried uninstalling with the uninstaller from the adobe website and reinstalling.
Is anyone else having this problem?
    How do I fix it?

I believe the WebKitPlugInHost needs to be updated for Safari as It crashes whenever I am playing FarmVille on FaceBook.

Are you using the latest version of Silverkeeper? - v.2.0.2 is stated to be compatible with Snow Leopard.

  • Sollution to Firefox 3.6.8 issues with Flash 10.1.53.64 !!

Sollution to Firefox 3.6.8 issues with Flash 10.1.53.64 !!
Had the well known problem after upgrading to 3.6.8.
Found that many people had the same problem also.
After investigating A LOT about this one i've found that if you set, in about:config, the parameter " dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll " to FALSE it solves the problem !!
    So...
    dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll == false

While I have not contacted Adobe, I am sure the answer will be don't use Firefox 3.6.8. ( The compliment to the answer you gave. It not Firefox that has the problem but Adobe.)
Since the only solution that I have seen is to disable the key reason to use Firefox 3.6.8 (crash protection) then the problem would appear to be in how Firefox as done the crash protection.

  • Safari (and Firefox) freezing on all pages with embedded video

Hi, is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any pages with video, with the exception of YouTube, have been freezing on both Safari and Firefox (Hulu, etc.). They don't load and I have to force quit the applications (and, of course, not watch video). Is anyone else having this problem? I've repaired permissions, emptied the cache, delete the plist file, and it's still happening.
Anyone else having this problem? Any solutions? All help appreciated. M

I was having a problem with Safari and Firefox and Camino quitting when I tried to view an online video, such as full length episodes on the TV network websites. I upgraded Adobe Flash to the latest version (version 9.0.124.0) and then repaired permissions and this took care of the problem. (Before I posted this I double checked the fix by going to the CBS and NBC web sites and watching 5 minutes of CSI:NY and Chuck and both played fine with nary a hiccup.)

    Hi jprice49,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
Are you able to test with another battery to rule out any issue with the battery itself on your BlackBerry® Storm2™ 9550 smartphone? I would advise trying this step first. If that does not resove the issue, please try to back up your data and perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software. For further instructions, please see the following KB articles.

For Mac: "Perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software on a Mac computer" http://bbry.lv/J0UN1U

  • Why is FF 15 the only browser Adobe Muse seems to have issues with?

For some reason you get a blank page when you click on "Resume PDF" Works on every other browser. Adobe says the error is on FF's end. Help?

Works for me on Windows 7. I know that some Mac users have problems with the Adobe Acrobat plugin and need to disable it so that Apple's own plugin/reader handle handle the content.

  • Safari and all other web browsers freeze with flash

This is a recent problem. For some reason in the past 2 days safari has completely stopped working for me on normal websites with flash. For example whenever I go to espn.com safari will load about 95% of the page and then it freezes up. It worked perfectly up to 2 days ago. I tried to uninstall flash and reinstall the latest version. Didn't help. I tried to see that my version was the newest one sent out by apple (it is). I even tried using chrome and firefox. Not a single browser worked. I tried scanning my computer with mcafee to see if it found a virus. It found nothing. I don't know whats going on but its really getting annoying because I can't go to any of my usual sports websites. If anyone has encountered this and has a solution it would be really helpful.

If you have a lot of tabs open and/or a lot of pages running Flash, Safari can sometimes 'hang', requiring a restart of Safari. This can often be inconvenient, and as it is rarely Safari itself that is hanging but merely one of its plug-ins, usually Flash, there is a way using Terminal to restart the plug-ins (without restarting Safari and losing your tabs) by quitting the WebPluginHost process:
Open the Terminal from the Utilities folder in /Applications and type
    killall -9 WebKitPluginHost
Note that this command kills all Safari plug-ins, not just Flash. All plug-ins should start back up when you reload the page.
Then go back to Safari and refresh any pages that were using the Flash plug-in. This also fixes the Beachball of Death. Try this whenever Safari gets slow or freezes. The latest versions of Flash 10.1 appear to have improved the situation somewhat, but haven't completed eliminated it.
I tried to see that my version was the newest one sent out by apple (it is
That may NOT be the latest version.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • I have issues with Flash Player 10, can you help resolve this?

    Hello everyone,
At the risk of giving too much information:
    I run a Mac iMac 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2.5 GB 667 MHz DDR2 5 DRAM with OS X version 10.4.11
    The issue:
I recently did the following things,
    a) Downloaded and used Safari Version 4 Public Beta (4528.17) Without any issues.
    b) Downloaded and used Flash Player 10.
Prior to this I wasn't aware of any issues, so I shall assume that Safari and Flash Player 9 worked fine together.
I also run Opera version 10.00 Beta, Firefox version 3.0.1.0
Here's the issue, when I visit BBC iPlayer and select a TV or Radio progamme I get this warning ..."A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash Player 10 to run slowly.  If it continues to run. your computer may become unresponsive.  Do you want to abort the script?" YES/NO ( attached file).
Selecting Yes or No results in the TV or Radio Progamme continuing to play but all control is lost so a Force quit is neccessary.
This issue applies to Firefox and Opera.
Sky.com doesn't appear to suffer these issues in as much when I've uninstalled Flash Player, Sky asks for 10 to be installed and works fine once it's done.  I should add that I installed Adobe AIR after the issues began without any resolution.
No doubt when you know what the issue is it's resolved in a flash, so come on who out there can help me...please.

    Hello Chris,
Thanks for the Flash settings instructions, that was useful and now I understand that all those particular options are available from a right click.  Having said that in this case I still wasn't able to resolve my issue, although I can right click and by clicking anywhere in the Adobe Flash Player Settings panel select or deselect there doesn't appear to be anyway to save that selection,(attached).
I should say at this point that I'm thinking that if my issue might be display speed then by disabling hardware acceleration this might resolve the issue.
    Regards
    Chris Antjoule

  • Verizon internet customers seem to have issues with 1 game - Marvel Puzzle Quest

There's a game , Marvel Puzzle Quest which had an update yesterday, and since then on load, it loses connection to the server after about 14-15 seconds.  Every single time.
I have Verizon DSL, and other folks on the game's forum in Steam who have Verizon FIOS are all experiencing the same issues.
Non-Verizon customers seem to be able to launch the game just fine.
So I'm guessing the game update introduced something which runs afoul of Verizon's rules or something, and the connections get killed.
    Anyone have any clue?
The game seems to talk to these servers:
    23.21.90.83:443
    54.230.206.27:80
    108.168.211.134:80

I just got off the phone with VZ wireless tech support on a separate issue I was having with my 4620L JetPack. After discussing that issue, I asked about Intranet data usage and whether or not it is considered part of the data plan usage because I had seen both yes and no opinions from online discussions on the subject. She checked with the IT department to be sure and said that no it does NOT count against the data plan as long as it does not use the Internet, i.e.,  the cell tower network. Last month I used my Apple TV to display quite a few photos from my MacBook Pro using the JetPack's wifi network and a couple of days later got a notice that I was about to exceed by monthly 10GB data budget. This hardly ever happens so I'm not entirely convinced there isn't at least some usage of the VZW network when doing local Intranet transfers. I plan to do some testing this month by checking my data plan usage before and after doing a lot of local photo transfers.
Incidentally, I purchased a separate wireless router a while ago for just this reason and also because it has a stronger wifi signal than the JetPack so it's my backup plan in case local data transfer is in fact incurring any charges against my data plan.

  • My Macbook Pro has trouble loading websites in Safari and Firefox.  I have already erased history. Why can this be? And what can I do about it?

I have been having trouble.  Some websites I have accessed before are not loading correctly.  Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't load. Sometimes they load, but you only see a list of links.  I am somewhat confused because I have never had any problems with my Macs before.  Why could this be? What can I do about it?
    Thank you.

Install Flash from here an try again
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Also download and run ALL the cleaning and maintenance aspects of the free OnyX and reboot.
    http://www.titanium.free.fr/
OnyX won't hurt anything, it will clean out all the cache and other files that might be corrupted and causing your problems, they will get rebuilt and your problem may disappear.
Also if there is something else wrong, OnyX's checkers may catch a larger issue which you tell us here so we can recommend further actions based upon that information.
Always backup your data to a external drive, cd/dvd's, (in addiiton to TimeMachine if your using that) so whatever happens at least that's safe.
