Safari background-position: bottom; -issue

Hi,
I've noticed that Safari 8 on Yosemite is having some issues rendering background images if they've been positioned "background-position: bottom;" in CSS. It seems to render them a seemingly arbitrary 60 px below the viewports bottom. This causes some sites to look off, and it's an issue I haven't seen in any other browser.
Anyone else noticed this issue? Any workarounds until it gets fixed?
Thanks!

Just installed Safari 8.0.2 hoping it would resolve this issue...but no, still no fix...
Please submit bug reports to Apple if you have noticed this bug!

  • Background image bottom repeating horizontally

    hi
    ive been messing around with some code for a while now and nothing seems to be working. im trying to get a 1px width image to repeat along the bottom of the page in the background, i put in;
            background-image: url(images/footer-bg.gif);
         background-position:bottom;
         background-repeat: repeat-x;
    and nothing appears
    if i repeat vertically i can see it up the centre of the page running vertically...?
            background-image: url(images/footer-bg.gif);
         background-position:bottom;
         background-repeat: repeat-y;
    can anyone help, thanks guys.

    hey thanks for your replies, heres an example link, as you can see im using tables.. yes i know tables horrible, but so is this project and i just want to get it out of the way.
    at the bottom of the page is a grey strip with some logos, basically i want to insert a grey strip running the width of the page to go behind this, i thought a background gif at the bottom of the page running horizontally would work but obviously not, could i put a div behind?

  • -fx-background-position with negative values bug ?

    Hi,
    I've reported an issue that seems to be a bug with negative -fx-backgound-position values in CSS : the background image is painted out of bound of the target node.
    Here is the CSS code:
    /* useradd icon style: with negative offset */
    .icon-useradd {
        -fx-background-position: -90px 0px;
    } I've created a new JIRA issue with attached screenshot :
    http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-25522

    This probably is expected behaviour.
    The properties for background fills (color, insets, radius) donot work together with the properties for background images (image, position, repeat, size). They are separate and painted in separate passes in order, quote from the CSS doc below:
    >
    Each Region consists of several layers, painted from bottom to top, in this order:
    background fills
    background images
    contents
    border strokes
    border images

  • Content background positie not good

    'm Working on a website to make
    http://www.aurelie-en-sven.be/cover.html
    IE7 is in the perfect, but Firefox and Safari have much else
    to see.
    The content background position is too high or too low.
    What do I use the best setting to get this correct?
    Thank you for your remarks
    Frederik

    Then when you have done that, change this -
    <div id="container">
    <div id="header"
    style="height:30px;margin-top:125px;">
    to this -
    <div id="container" style="padding-top:125px;">
    <div id="header" style="height:30px;">
    and see what happens.

  • Background Position: 2 pages, same code, different outcome...

    Hey guys,
        I have finished a site that uses the code following CSS:
    body {
              background-color: #383637;
              background-image: url(Images/All-Background-Image.jpg);
              background-repeat: no-repeat;
              background-position: center bottom;
              margin: 0px;
        padding: 0px;
    This code is the same across all pages yet on the index the background does not position itself at the bottom of the screen, it only centers itself, all of the other pages work. Here is the site:
    http://christianstest.info//CherryHillRecreation/Grangerfun.com/Live%20to%20Web/index.html
    You can click the blue tabs to see what I mean... I only noticed it on a screen with a resolution with a height of more than 800pixals, otherwise you can't tell I don't believe... any Ideas why this is happening?

    The background attached to the body tag like that without being absolute positioned will appear at the bottom of the content, not necessarily the page. The home page is too short for that to stick to the bottom. You should try adding the background into the html tag, instead of body and setting the height to 100%. This could solve it.
    html {
              background-color: #383637;
              background-image: url(Images/All-Background-Image.jpg);
              background-repeat: no-repeat;
              background-position: center bottom;
              margin: 0px;
              padding: 0px;
              height:100%;

    i just moved my safari off the bottom line of icons on my mac. where do I find now, or how do i get it back?

    Simply go back into your applications folder and find the icon for Safari. Click and drag the icon back into the menu bar. You can choose where to place it by moving it to the perfered place in the menu bar and unclick to set.

  • Safari not working (Flash issue) but FireFox is... is there an issue with Safari?

    When I access Connect in Safari I am asked to upgrade my Flash player - it is up to date... Firefox works just fine. Does anyone else have Safari access or Flash issues?

    Connect version 8 requires that Adobe Flash 10.1 be installed.  I would suggest that you uninstall Flash and then reinstall from here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#ostype=m,prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,
    Adobe Connect is built to use the Adobe Flash player and it works great on Mac OSX. I suspect your Flash instance is corrupt and needs replacement. I use Safari all day long with Adobe Connect 7.5 and 8.

If yes, can ask that message be deleted...since this happens to be a US govt website, it puts really lot of strain on the users seeking appointment via ipad mini...we have to find non safari browser, then complete appointment process...http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/ is the website where one comes across that message while making payment for booking appointment....is that a known issue?...

    Someone posted today (9/19/06) on the MacInTouch forums that they just got their MacBook back from repair for RSD, and the replaced parts were:
    APP-630-7872 PCB, MLB, 2.0GHZ DC, SMS/KIONI
    APP-607-0142 ASSY, HEATSINK, M42
    This is the first post I have seen that shows a different part number for the heat sink than the one for my repair from almost a month ago:
    APP-603-8071 ASSY, HEATSINK, M42
    Perhaps interesting.

  • Lion / Safari 5.1 has issues with the pinch/zoom (embedded links don't zoom correctly)

    Ever since upgrading to Lion Safari 5.1 has issues with the pinch/zoom.  Any embedded link does not zoom in proportion to the surrounding page and it makes it unusable. (the embedded link zooms much more).  Any ideas?  This makes safari almost unusable for many webpages.
    Is there a fix to this?  Or can I consider uninstalling 5.1 and rolling Safari back to 5.05?  Not sure if this is a Lion issue or a Safari issue.  Everything worked great prior to Lion.
    (I have to say, Lion has been more annoying than beneficial to this point!)

    Here are 2 screenshots of the issue (before and after a zoom)  see how the add in the first one that shows 25% off in the first picture zoomed too large after the zoom to see the whole thing?

  • IPad IOS 8.1 full screen safari web app display issue

    My company produces a web app that is intended to be used from the iPad's Full Screen Home Screen launch.
    we are using the tags:
    <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes">
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" >
    Since taking the updates to IOS 8, 8.1, & 8.2, when the app is launched in full screen mode from the home screen, the iPad's top line including the text "iPad", its signal strength, VPN status, current time, battery life, and blue-tooth indicators are superimposed on the top line of every page - making it difficult to read that top line of data coming from our app.
    Additionally, there appears to now be a blank white band that shows up on the footer of the web app.  Both of these new additions to the full screen appearance is yielding a somewhat less professional appearance.
    Is there some sort of tag or other setting that we can use to hide these new areas that are appearing?

    This is a better illustration.   I'm thinking that the white band at the bottom of the screen should be at the top of the screen (like the iphone does) and the web content should be shifted down that amount of space.
    the white band is hard to see with this white background however, but its obvious on the ipad in full screen mode... so go to the link on your device, save it to the home screen and relaunch...

  • Safari 2 finger swipe issue in youtube

    I recently updated my Safari to 7.0.3. If I start a youtube video and use the 'Two Finger Gesture' to go to the previous page, say youtube home page, the page is turning to the home page. But the video I started do not stop and is still playing in background. I could hear the voice of the video through speakers. I have to reload the youtube home page to stop the video from playing.
    I am sure this issue is occuring only after the last 7.0.3 update which came in yesterday.
    Does anyone else facing same issue and if so, what is the solution?
    I tried updating my flash player but still doesn't work.

  • Serious Safari, Adium, Setup/Installer issues

    Hello,
    I've had my MacBook Pro for about two weeks now. Until very recently, it's been working fine, but a few days ago, Photoshop CS3 developed a slightly annoying issue wherein it freezes every time I try to save anything. I can do everything else, just not save.
    At the same time, I also noticed that Safari began to show the entire CSS section of every site I visit, completely screwing up the positioning of objects in the frame as well. Adium does the same thing whenever I open a chat.
    I've tried updating my software and I just reinstalled OSX (I didn't reformat, though.) I tried to delete CS3, but the install/delete application doesn't seem to work. I deleted all of the files manually, and I've been trying to reinstall it, but the setup frame is invisible. It works, and I can press enter and it'll change to the next section (I can tell because the status when you ctrl-click the icon changes from initialization to agreement to installation options, etc.)
    Adium I can deal with, given that I've just been using iChat instead. Safari and CS3 I can't really live without, given that Mozilla seems about three times slower, and because I'm a photography student and I badly need to edit the thousands of images I have piling up on my memory cards and hard drive.
    Any help would be useful. As a last resort, I'm perfectly willing to reformat it, but I just would much rather not. If that's really my only option, though, then I'll have to.
    I love the computer, and I like OSX much better than Windows so far, but I really need it to be working ASAP. Thanks a ton in advance.

    When in doubt, reformat. :P I mean, if you have everything up to date, you have tried re-installing everything, not much else you can do other than reformat or find a fix. If reformatting doesn't work or you really don't want to, try contacting Adobe.

  • Safari Window position

    My problem is that Safari never opens neatly centered within the screen. I open up and then must always click and drag to position the window correctly.
    This problem also exists when I have multiple windows open. On clicking the window I wish to view it may or may not open centered within my screen. Very often it lies tucked away at the bottom of the screen with only the very top subject line evident. Again I must click and drag my window to position it correctly.
    This is tedious and a waste of time. Dysfunctional and inelegant and at odds with my expectations of OS X. Any remedies much appreciated.

    if you're willing to plunk down $12, you can get Saft instead.
    also, if you close a window after changing it, all new windows should then open the same way.
