Safari crashing on Wifi networks
safari crashes every time I open it when using a wifi network. It works fine when I am using a mobile USB stick for internet though. Can anyone help?
Ok, I found this under a related thread, and I do have Ghostery installed... someone notes that Ghostery 1.3 still works, while 1.4.1 is causing these crashes. Uninstalling it and seeing if that does it.

AirPlay seems to crash home wifi network
Hi all,
I am having problems in operating airplay at home.
I am running an iMac, Time capsule and airport express across a wireless network. I am using my iPad 3 as a remote to control my iTunes library. The airport express connects to my stereo. This is recognised in iTunes and connects. To start with music plays through the stereo over airplay via airport express. The airport express is set up to 'extend' network. After a few minutes the connection seems to drop, the song is still playing on iMac but not via airplay on stereo. My iPad and iPhone seem to disconnect from my wireless network and they can't find iTunes library nor connect to the Internet.
Only second post.
Suggestions most welcome.Tried this, I still have the same problem. I can only access the internet when on apple.com if I try to open a different web page I get the Neatgear genie page again. It also won't allow apps that need the internet to open.

Firefox crashes when trying to access WIFI network with security agreement
When trying to access a WIFI network Firefox will crash immediately. If I use Safari, it will ask me if I want to continue to site 1.1.1.1, but suggests that it has an unknown certificate. Click continue and I am taken to a page where I need to accept the terms of use for the WIFI network. Once I accept the terms, then I can open Firefox.

when i click on safari to use the internet it says "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet", but i am connected to a wifi network so how do i get safari to work?
you may be connected to the wireless network but the question is the internet working properly on the wireless network...
what i mean is that i can make a wireless network without the internet so i can save and share files and have other devices connected to the same network access them... but you have to make sure that your internet it running properly... may have to reconfigure the router is your using PPPOE or if it was working prior to your post then try to restart your modem... that usually resolves most issues. -
On the wifi settings it shows that my ipod is connected to a network, but when I try to open safari it does not open it, because it says its not connected to wifi
You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc. -
Safari Home Page On Secure Wifi Network Login
My employer has a very secure guest network. Sometimes when I log in and connect, my Ipad goes directly to Apple.com. This causes a problem because if I hit the Home key so I can open Safari, my Ipad disconnects from the WiFi network and I get a "not connected" message. How can I set my Ipad to go directly to a web page in Safari after logging in?
King Penguin, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, the issue is still there. When I open Safari, I don't get the secure login website to get into the wi-fi network. If I click on the network in Settings, sometimes the login page pops up, but my IPad goes directly to Apple.com, and it's not in Safari, so I can't access another website, and if I close Apple.com and open Safari, the wi-fi connection is lost.

IOS 8.0.2 on iPhone 4S crashes WiFi network
Question:
Has anyone seen problems with their WiFi network associated with iOS 8.0.2?
Background:
I installed 8.0.2 on my iPhone4S and it appears to crash my entire home WiFi. I have 4 iOS devices in the house: iPhone 5, IPad, Apple TV and iPhone 4S. Only the 4S has IOS8.0.2. Since I installed it this morning my WiFi has been continuously crashing, making it impossible for the 4 Windows laptops in our house to stay connected. I left the house for 2 hours and things went back to normal. When I returned, the network immediately crashed again. I turned off WiFi on the 4S and power-cycled the router. The network came back up. When I restarted WiFi on the 4S, it crashed. Turned off the 4s's WiFi again and reset the router. Everything has been fine now for 30 minutes. I have Frontier Communications FIOS with a MI424WR-GEN3I router. Throughout all of the outages, the wired/Ethernet functionality of the router has worked fine and I have been able to access the Internet via Ethernet.sstelter wrote:
Sorry, but that's just a ridiculous thing to say. The fact that an issue is intermittent or dependent on other variables does not mean its not an issue. You have provided an opinion with no data and no help. If you can't contribute to a solution, please abstain from this thread.
If a device on a network can crash a router/WAP, the issue is with that router/WAP is there is no "crash the network" command within the Wi-Fi protocol.
That's why there are networking standards; if properly adhered to they dictate what will occur when commands are received and commensurately, the only things that will happen.
Feel free to fill out the form and peruse the actual specifications of the protocol yourself if you so choose; there's no "crash network" option.

Whether the router is Apple's or another vendor's, it needs to be able to deal with whatever traffic/commands are sent to it. -
My ISP requires a http login. I can use the iPad fine if I am logged in on a PC connected to the same wifi network, but if I login on safari on my ipad, the connection drops after some time.. any workaround?

The iPhone is working, as designed and advertised. In this case, the user failed to educate themselves properly, either by proper research or asking the right questions, before purchasing the device.
I understand that the OP failed to do research. But then, I wasn't replying to the OP. I was replying to Chris. I have Verizon. I can talk and use data at the same time with my Droid Maxx. Therefore, the problem is not just with the network. It would be technically possible for an iPhone to do that on Verizon/Sprint if Apple had chosen to use a different chip, such as the kind other phone manufacturers have elected to use.
Of course, this is probably all irrelevant to the OP's issue. It was merely a point of clarification, especially for those people who are used to being able to use both voice and data at the same time on Verizon. When they switch to an iPhone, they are often surprized at the limitation.
Best of luck. -
Torch 9800 crashes Wifi networks
I've had a Torch for about 2 years now and I've always had this issue but I fiugre I'd finally look into it. This is the 2nd Torch I've had (first one the screen was defective after a couple months) and both have had the exact same issue.
When I use my phone on Wifi, it works fine for about 10-15 minsutes and then crashes the router that it connects to making the internet on the whole network go down. this happens at home, at other peoples homes, at work or even in public wifi areas like hotels or retail stores (yes I've tried it a few different places)
I've tried calling my phone provider a long time ago and they were stumped at this issue but since the wifi technically works the stores refused to do anything on a warranty basis while it was still active. It's not like wifi is a must for me, the internet speed on the torch is still quite slow and I have tons of data on my plan that I don't use but I wouldn't mind getting it fixed so that I can actually turn on my wifi antenna without worrying about crashing everyone's networks.
Thanks!
ChrisI also have the same problem, it crashes networks and routers etc I think it maybe some of the apps that cause it ones that also use the GPS to find your locations etc

Application crashes (after changing wifi network?)
Hi
I've noticed that new apps I've installed (facebook, remote, last.fm, twitterific) work fine whilst in the confines of my wifi network.
However, once I've taken the phone out and about and connected to other networks the apps are rendered unusable - they just crash on startup, all of them
It doesn't happen with any preinstalled apps?
Maybe it's just coincidence but either way it renders all that good stuff absolutely useless.
I've submitted the crash report and manually views the crashes in /username/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice
Doesn't mean much to me though - say's backtrace unavailable and EXCBADINSTRUCTION (SIGILL) is given as the exception.
Anyone else having the same problems?Let's look for another possibility -- does it also happen after you sync the phone to iTunes? If you sync the phone but do not copy apps purchased on the phone back to iTunes it is well-known that they will stop working on the phone. There's even a warning about this in the iPhone prompt that asks if you want to sync the apps to iTunes. If you have never seen this prompt you probably ignored it some time in the past after purchasing music. It will not re-prompt you if you ignore it.

My ipod touch 4th gen shows that it is connected to a wifi network but when i try to browse safari it doesnt work.please help me out.
I am using wifi from a mobile by using the tethering option.Hi there amalrockzz,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Follow these steps to troubleshoot the above issues:
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Unable to access the Internet while connected to Wi-Fi
If you're using a public or commercial network, you may need to log in or subscribe.
Check to see if you have a self-assigned IP address:
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected and tap .
If your IP address is 169.254.xxx.xxx, you may not be able to access the Internet.
If you do not have a self-assigned IP address, see if other Wi-Fi devices on your network have Internet access.
If they do not, consult with your network administrator or ISP for further assistance.
If they do, reset network settings on your device by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
recently used Bluetooth accessories
VPN and APN settings
Additional Information
Find information on connecting to a Wi-Fi network.
Some third-party routers may not be compatible with all iOS devices, even after updating to the latest firmware. If your iOS devices can successfully connect to other Wi-Fi networks, contact your router's manufacturer to ensure that your router is compatible with your iOS device.
See recommended settings for configuring your Wi-Fi router for use with iOS devices.

Safari, app store, Facebook not working unless connected to a wifi network
I receive the message "safari cannot open the page because the server stopped responding".
When I try to access the app store or Facebook, it just says loading or updating and nothing ever shows up. When I connect to a wifi network everything works properly.
I am still able to receive calls and texts. And I have tried a hard reset. Any ideas?Hi..

Have had new iPAD 2 for a month now- about 90% of the time it won't sign on to wifi networks that require a log on page - it simply won't bring the log on pages up and I haven't figured out anyway to make it do so - I have tried rebooting, turning wifi on and off, turning the ipad on and off -
I get a strong signal from the wifi network but can't get on the internet - makes the ipad virtually worthless to me. I saw this was a topic of discussion last year with lots of complaints but I can't find any suggestions or solutions. Is this just a terribly defective product?
Any suggestions welcome! For many systems, you need to use a browser to go to some site. The first site the browser tries to go to, it will be interrupted and a log in page appears. For other sites you need to choose the wifi router in the settings and enter the password.
