Safari failing to load screenshots properly

I have recently been seeing that Safari 5.0.1 is failing to load screenshots properly. Instead the image starts to load but once complete it automatically starts to reload time after time, almost as though it is redirecting to the same page. I have seen this happen both with screenshots of my own and URLs created by others like this one below. The same URLs loads normally in FireFox with no problem.
http://media.macupdate.com/images/screens/uploaded/JPG/35137_scr.jpg
This URL from a domain on my server http://www.sunnymede.net/screenshots/ringflash_1.jpg was giving the same problem in Safari. Then the problem seemed to clear but I just checked now and it is doing the same repeated reloading. Is anybody else seeing this kind of strange behaviour in Safari?

That looks like it was the problem for me as well. I've just disabled it and after clearing the cache it looks OK now. Thanks for the solution!

  • Safari Fails To Load when an external link is selected in Another App

Hi, I am having a small problem with Safari,
If I I try to open a link in say Apple mail, or in a document, Safari fails to load. If I manually open Safari from the Dock and then click a link etc Safari loads the page without any problems.
Its just annoying to sometimes want to open a link, and then when it fails, to only then realise its because I did not have Safari already loaded.
This problem started about a week ago when I had been using my system in Germany, and had purchased a WiFi connection whilst staying at the local Hilton. This connection was activated when Safari was loaded and then I entered my password and logon details etc.
I do have a registered version of Saft installed in Safari, but this has not caused any problems before.
I also have all Apple updates and fixes installed n my system.
Could this be the cause of my Safari problem?
Can anyone here advise me how to repair Safari to automatically launch as it used to?
    Thanks
    Drusus

    Drusus,
Make sure that Safari is selected as the default browser in Safari>Preferences...>General>Default Web Browser:
I know nothing about Saft, but if the Safari default browser preference has not been changed, I would be suspect of Saft.
If that is the case, perhaps an uninstall/reinstall of Saft would suffice.
    ;~)

  • Safari doesn't load pages properly

I'm developing a website but I'm having problems with Safari. So far I've tested the website as follow:
    PC:
    IE 6, 7, 8
    FireFox
    Mac:
    Safari
    FireFox
Where not specified the browser's version is the latest.
    The website is at http://www.douglasinscotland.co.uk/
I'm experiencing this problem in Safari for Mac only. The website is within a main frame as this method is forced by the hosting provider.
The problem: when browsing quickly between different pages in the website often the page don't seem to load properly. Instead of appearing with a consistent dark background, it appears with some white blocks as if the browser failed to load properly the background colour for certain parts of the page. To experience it you need to click several times on the menu in the top right of the website.
I've tried this from a different Mac in a friend's house and it's happening the same.
I've used CSS and some JavaScripts on the pages.
It happens when tested in local too, therefore it doesn't seem to be a problem related to the frameset or the hosting.
Could anybody please give me a clue where to look at to solve this annoying problem?
    Thanks

  • I've been having a problem with Safari failing to load about 10-20% of pages.

Safari is returning the message 'failed to connect to server' but sites opening fine in other browsers so ISP connection seems fine.
Safari will repeatedly fail to open a page when it is on the same server/site as other pages that load correctly and I can navigate to other pages after a failed page load.
I'm also able to return an hour or so later and open the pages that failed but no idea why I'm getting temporarily blocked out from some pages/links.
Problem has only occurred in the last few days but seems persistant.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm using the latest version of snow leopard on a 2009 MacBook Pro.
    Many thanks,

    Hi...
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, it's free, and should fix the can't connect to server issue.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    Click +
Enter these numbers exactly as you see them here.
    208.67.222.222
    Click +
    208.67.220.220
Then click OK and restart your Mac.

  • Safari fails to load in Lion

I upgaded to Lion. now safari hangs with spinning beach ball and fails to load any URL. I use a macbook. Can you help?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Web pages in Safari fail to load

I'm having an issue with web pages continually failing to load. I'm not sure if this is a problem with my phone or with my network.

  • Safari browser not loading videos properly?

Every time I use Safari to load videos or go on YouTube, the video either does not load properly and gives me an error message "your browser does not currently recognize this format" or it says HTML5 and I have to click on it for it to load. The message usually goes away when I refresh the browser and the HTML5 message will appear. The video usually works after I click on it, however the video doesn't play in YouTube's video player. It's just really inconvenient not being able to use YouTube's video player or even other video players on different websites. I was wondering is there anything I can do to fix this, or this just the way Safari loads videos?
I've attached some images showing the issues.
    Thanks for any help!

  • WHY is Safari failing to load pages on my late 2013 MBP retina?

I have the latest OS and Safari on my machine.  Safari is not usable.  Every now and then, I can go to a web page in a reasonable amount of time but, more often, the page either doesn't load (the blue shading in the address bar stops after about an inch and freezes) or the page takes several minutes to load. This computer is too new to be having these kinds of issues.....
I know the next step (according to Apple support) is to reinstall the OS, which I will do once back up is complete.  Here's what I've done previously, to no avail:  confirmed that there are no extensions, reset Safari multiple times, deleted the plist file from the Library, repaired disk permissions, shut down, restarted, restarted in safe mode, etc.  Regarding the repair permissions - there is always a Safari permission that needs to be repaired. Same one every time.  Not that repairing permissions was a fix.....
I am hoping the reinstall works but I'm frustrated that this is happening on a new, very expensive computer.  I want to understand what the root cause is....any ideas about what is broken and how it got broken?  Thanks.

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
    Stop plug-ins to save power
    Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Log out and log back in. Any change?
Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Again, if only Safari is involved, open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Safari, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Safari fails to load Facebook

    Hi,
For the last 2 months, whenever I try to load Facebook using Safari on my Mac OSX 10.8.2 I receive the folllowing error message:
I would be grateful for any suggestions on how to resolve this. Many thanks.

    v10.8.2 ..
Your OS X software is out of date. Should v10.8.5 which will also update Safari.
Click the Apple  top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click:   Software Update
Restart your Mac after updates are installed then launch Safari and try Facebook.
If you still have problems ..
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:   Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
I it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

  • Safari fails to load webpages

    Running Safari 5.1.2 (6534.52.7), OSX 10.6.8.
Okay I don't know what the deal is, but lately Safari has been having issues connecting to websites.  Randomly happens on basically every website out there.  Could be in a forum, press next to go to the next page and the balcnk page pops up unable to connect.  It's Safari that's doing it, everything else is fine.  I don't know what was pushed by Apple lately, but whatever it was, it broke Safari.  It's getting annoying to say the least.  The fact that it just randomly decides that it cannot load a page is so aggrivating.  You'd think it would be able to load a page from cache that it just was at, nooo, it claims it cannot connect to the site and you have to reset Safari, exit, and HOPE, that it will actually let you visit a site that you frequent often... like even Apple's own website.  There is something seriously wrong with it at the moment and it's getting to the point now where I will probably just stop using Safari altogether.  It's just that annoying.  How would you like to call your Mother and have the phone tell you no such number exists?  Funny, I've called it a thousand times, but the phone is now telling me it doesn't exist.  Then poof, it decides it does exist.  Then it doesn't.  Then it does.  Then doesn't.

Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found

  • Safari fails to load any page. Chrome & Firefox all working fine. I've tried everything

Safari will not open any sites. I get the 'can't connect to the server' error page
Weird thing is the top sites page shows up and shows current website images, but click one and it won't connect
Its been like this for weeks, but isn't my main browser, and chrome and firefox have all been working just fine
I suspect it has something to do with the 5.1 update but can't really remember when that was installed
I've deleting the usual cookies and plist files, reset safari, trashed and reinstalled it, scanned for trojans, none have helped.
Now it's bugging me because i want to fix it before i upgrade to Lion

I have been having the same issue since upgrading to Lion and iOS5 last week.  I am not a Mac guru and have basic computer skills.  What are you referring to when you say:
"Someone had set a little snitch to deny connections to webprocess. Deleted all little snitch rules for webprocess, and it works just fine"
I would love to try this but have no clue what you're talking about.  General, basic English please!
    Thanks.

  • After 10.4.4 Update Flash Failes To Load In All Browsers!

Has anybody experienced this problem?, Safari failed to load pluggin. even in IE, firefox and Opera no flash loads. Is there a fix for this? I have also downloaed the plugins and have re installed them varius times, and still no go. Its getting really anoying?

    Hi, Brian.
One other thing I should point out: I also have
QuickTime 7.0.4 and the latest Flash player and have
not had a problem with either. Again, I'd be very
interested in knowing what led you to conclude QT
7.0.4 was causing the problem with Flash.
If it turns out that QT 7.0.4 was not the problem,
i.e. if the problem recurs after removing QT 7.0.4
using the reinstaller you cited, let me know as I
saved the other list of analysis and suggestions I'd
    planned to post.
    Thanks!
    Good luck!

  • Some websites fail to load page on safari

Two websites, Twitter and my bank fail to load properly.  The page starts to load then hangs when the blus bar is about a quarter of the way across the address bar.  The fault is intermittant - sometimes the page loads fine - and it doesn't seem to be the site as if I use another mac the problem is not replicated on it and the page comes up.  I have cleared the cache etc and it doesn't seem to help.  Any ideas anyone?

You can try resetting Safari using the option under the Safari menu. You might not want to reset everything, so I suggest looking at the options.

Hi guys, I have quite a serous problem here, I have a Adobe Edge Animation (done in CC) that fails to load the first time in Opera and Crome but does work in Firefox and Safari. It fail to load every time coming from another page.
The problem persist both locally and online. It does work in preview every single time.
I you can push me in the right direction, that would be great.
    Thanks!
Here you can see the animation:

It seems to because of a style insertion error in animate library/content
