Safari not filling in web addresses automatically like it used to

Used to be able to type in something like 'earthlink' into the url address and Safari would automatically fill it in as 'earthlink.com' but now it is not doing this. Not aware of any changes to preferences, etc. Any ideas?

It sounds as if, in a way you are being highjacked, do you use Earthlink as your ISP?

Go to System Preferences -> Network-> Show Airport: or Ethernet:
On the TCP/IP tab , enter the numbers in list form, in optional "DNS Servers" box that's probably blank.

These Verizon DNS #'s also work well for many users. See the portford link for more Dns server #'s for other ISP.

Try this and see if it helps.
Settings>Safari>Clear cookies and data.
Now close Safari completely. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then "swipe up" or "drag up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I think you solved my problem! Upon following your advice, I first got a message that I had not allowed a connection to the Tax dept computers, which would prevent the file I need to fill out from being e-filed. I proceeded to then open the file at the top of which was a security banner at which I chose the site as safe. I then filled in the first line of the form which autofilled other lines telling me I was connected with the tax site. In a few days when I have the data I need, I will actually attempt to file the return. If there is a problem, I will send another message. Thanks so much for your assistance!

Mail, Window Menu, Previous Recipients.
Select the ones you don't want and delete them.
If you want to add them to contacts, click that button.

Safari not displaying some web pages properly why?

I have been finding of late that safari does not display certain web pages properly. i.e.: text overlaps other text and is not formatted properly. This seems to have become more common lately. Even Apple's own apple info page does not display properly. Could this be a setting in safari that I have messed up somehow?

Go step by step and test.
1. Delete Cookies
    Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:
    Click the “Details” button.
    Remove all cookies except from Apple, your internet service provider and banks.
2. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
    Turn off Extensions if any and launch Safari again to test.
    Turn on those one by one and test.
3. Delete Caches.db
    Close all windows and quit all applications.
    Hold "option" key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
    Select "Library" from the dropdown.
    Library > Caches > com.apple.Safari > Caches.db
    Right click the Caches.db file and select "Move To Trash.
    Close windows and relaunch Safari.
4. Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
    Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
    Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
    Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
5. Temporarily turn off Safari iCloud sync and test.
     System Preferences > iCloud
     Uncheck the box beside “Safari” and test.

Certain Groups Not Filling in email addresses

Some Address Contact Groups are filling in email address and others are not. I have tried recreating the group but it still will not fill in the email addresses while other Groups do fine. Any ideas?

Open Keychain Access. (Applications/Utilities) Find the "Safari AutoFill" item. Delete it.
Relaunch Safari. Next time it asks for authorization, click "Always Allow".

     Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
     Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly.
     It will take a   while.
     Restart the computer.
     Start up in Safe Mode

Safari not loading some web pages

Got a problem with Safari where it won't load certain web pages. This happens when I try to click on the buy button on certain web sites (such as Amazon), but not on all web sites. Safari tries to load the page but stops before any content is downloaded. I've tried re-installing the software, re-setting Safari, emptying the cache, cookies are enabled, and proxies are unchecked. If I run Internet Explorer I can access the pages that Safari won't download. Anyone got any suggestions????

Do you have Little Snitch installed? If so, check the Little Snitch preference panel (under System Preferences) to make sure that there are not any Little Snitch rules denying Safari access to any ports. If only HTTPS sites are being effected, specifically check the rule for Port 443, as Safari needs Little Snitch to allow connections to that.
I am not sure, but I think the update changed these rules around, at least on my computer.

RSBBS Web Address jump to iView using same window.

Im trying to use a RSBBS Web Address (Report-Report Interface RRI, Jump to Target, Report Goto link) to jump to a portal iView. This works fine except that it opens the iView (with portal header and detailed navigation) in a new window. This is not what we need. We wish to jump to the target iView within the same browser window while retaining the portal header and detailed navigation (updated to the place where the iView is located in the Navigation).
Ive tried coding the jump to using Javascript command SAPBWSetOpenerUrl. This opens the target iView in the same browser window but unfortunately also opens a duplicate Header and Detailed Navigation in the Content Area. This means that the Header and Detailed navigation is repeated (duplicated) every time a jump is called. This is not what we would like.
How is it possible to setup a Jump to Web Address and open the iView in the same browser window without being contained within the content area? Is there a way to break out of the Content Area Frame and update the entire page?
Any help on this is very much appreciated.

With JavaScript function EPCM.doNavigate, it is possible to code in the sending report
web template an additional link in the context menu pointing to a portal iView.
This runs the target web template and query.
So far, I've only managed to successfully pass one characteristic into the target report.

The characteristic being passed is this example is OCOMP_CODE.

I attempted to open up a program, it seemed to open fine until I tried to click on the tabs to view specific information & that is when I received the message that my browser/program is not supported by Web Dynpro. I checked the website for Web Dynpro but their downloads only cover Windows 8.

There is no Windows 9 as Windows 8 is still in Beta testing and not out until 2012.
There is Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) browser and you appear to be using Windows 7.
Perhaps the 8 is for the IE8 browser.
Perhaps the unnamed download you are referring to from Web Dynpro is only for IE.

SAFARI 4.0.3 WEB ADDRESS PROBLEM

My selected Safari site is www.yahoo.com, however, I keep getting www.m.yahoo.com - that I do not want. No matter what I do, I cannot permanently select the www.yahoo.com address. WHAT IS GOING ON, AND HOW CAN I CHANGE THE ADDRESS TO WHAT I WANT, THANKS.

Okay, then if Yahoo! is not set as your home page, try this:
Quit Safari if it's running.
Go to Home/Library/Cookies and delete the Cookies.plist file.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete History.plist and LastSession.plist.
Restart Safari and see if the problem continues.
