SAFARI PLUG-IN & WEBPAGE ISSUES

After installing Lion on MacPro, I am having a lot of trouble with Safari providing the following message:  SAFARI CAN'T DISPLAY THIS WEBPAGE.  SAFARI HAS REPEATEDLY ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR WHILE TRYING TO DISPLAY [URL].  And, in have a constant "Plug-in failure" where videos ought to play.  I have searched my plug-ins, downloaded current Flash plug-in, et. al., but having no luck.  Open to any and all suggestions.  Thanks.  DrBob  <Edited by Host>

  • Lion / Safari 5.1 has issues with the pinch/zoom (embedded links don't zoom correctly)

    Ever since upgrading to Lion Safari 5.1 has issues with the pinch/zoom.  Any embedded link does not zoom in proportion to the surrounding page and it makes it unusable. (the embedded link zooms much more).  Any ideas?  This makes safari almost unusable for many webpages.
    Is there a fix to this?  Or can I consider uninstalling 5.1 and rolling Safari back to 5.05?  Not sure if this is a Lion issue or a Safari issue.  Everything worked great prior to Lion.
    (I have to say, Lion has been more annoying than beneficial to this point!)

    Here are 2 screenshots of the issue (before and after a zoom)  see how the add in the first one that shows 25% off in the first picture zoomed too large after the zoom to see the whole thing?

  • Safari cannot load webpages.

    Safari cannot load webpages. It only shows blank page while other web browsers work well. How could I solve this?

    Glad you were able to get the issue resolved =)
    Linc Davis, I am curious where you were able to get the Safari 7.0.3 installer package from?? I thought that the only way you could reinstall Safari 6 and later was by reinstalling the OS?  Also, right-clicking on the Safari app and choosing show package contents did not show the installer.pkg. Just would like to know for future reference since reinstalling OS X for a minor issue such as this is obviously overkill =P

  • " plug-in name does not support the highest level of security for Safari plug-ins" appear for some plugins in Safari Security "Manage Website Settings"?

    Hi,
    Wondering why "<plug-in name> does not support the highest level of security for Safari plug-ins" appear for some plugins in Safari > Security > "Manage Website Settings"?
    Have been trying to get to the root cause of the problem but did not find much on this. I am trying to figure out what can get the warning to go away completely than using the Allow/Always Allow options for the plug-in
    Thanks,
    Shyam

    Hi Linc,
    Thank you for your response. Here is the screenshot of the warning that I am talking about.
    Here is what I do:
    1. Launch Safari and open its Preferences. I have Safari 7.1 installed on my machine.
    2. Click Security Tab and click Manage WebSite Settings
    3. A window opens showing me all the Plug-ins that I have (listed on the left hand side).
    4. One of them is the Adobe Reader plug-in. When I click Adobe Reader, the following details about the plug-in show up on the right
    I was referring to the highlighted section that warns me about this plug-in not using the highest level of security for Safari Plug-ins.
    Note: I do not see this for all my plug-ins (QuickTime, Adobe Flash Player don't give me this warning) which tells me that there is a way to make the warning go away.
    Thanks again,
    Shyam

  • How to find Safari plug-in installed on a specific date?

    I posted this question in the wrong community, so am re-posting here.
    I want to remove a Safari plug-in. I know how to find the plug-ins that have been installed (Safari > Help > Installed Plug-Ins), but the names of the plug-ins mean nothing to me. I do know, however, when the plug-in (the one that I want to remove) was installed.  Is there a way to see the list of installed plug-ins by install date?  Thx

    Do you back up with Time Machine? If so, scroll back through the snapshots of the plugin folders until you find the most recent change.

  • Safari Plug-Ins - what is OfficeLiveBrowserPlugIn ?

    Does anyone know about the file called OfficeLiveBrowserPlugin.plugin and if I need to keep it?
    I have Microsoft Office 2008 v.12.2.3, Safari 4.0.4, OS 10.6.2
    Is it a plug that is used if you use MS Office Live for a website, or is it some kind of bad thing Microsoft installs in the Safari plug ins folder?
    Thanks so much!

    You installed the Conduit spyware. To remove it, back up all data, then follow the instructions on this page:
    Help Center | Community Toolbar
    If those instructions don't work, proceed as follows.
    Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Conduit
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). From the Finder menu bar, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder…
    Paste (command-V) into the box that opens, then press return. A Finder window should open with a folder named "Conduit" selected. If it does, delete the selected item.
    Repeat with this line:
    /Applications/Toolbars
    Now you're deleting a folder named "Toolbars". You may be prompted for your login password. Next, copy this line:
    /Library
    Select Go to Folder… again and paste. Don't delete the Library folder. Delete only the following items inside it, if they exist.
    Application Support/Conduit
    InputManagers/CTLoader
    LaunchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
    ScriptingAdditions/ct_scripting.osax
    Close the Finder windows you opened. Log out and log back in.
    I've seen a report that Conduit may be bundled with a scam "utility" called "MacKeeper." If you installed MacKeeper, you should remove it according to the developer's instructions. It's worthless and causes many problems reported on this site.

  • Safari not working (Flash issue) but FireFox is... is there an issue with Safari?

    When I access Connect in Safari I am asked to upgrade my Flash player - it is up to date... Firefox works just fine. Does anyone else have Safari access or Flash issues?

    Connect version 8 requires that Adobe Flash 10.1 be installed.  I would suggest that you uninstall Flash and then reinstall from here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#ostype=m,prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,
    Adobe Connect is built to use the Adobe Flash player and it works great on Mac OSX. I suspect your Flash instance is corrupt and needs replacement. I use Safari all day long with Adobe Connect 7.5 and 8.

    There is, at this time, no Flash for the Touch.

  • Why does the Acro 9.3 Updater ask for Safari Plug-In 3 Times?

    Adobe's software is generally known for its massive bloat (Acrobat 9's 1GB install size, I'm looking at you), but when one of the updates asks me to install its craptacular Safari Plug-In that takes aeons to start up and simply pales in comparison to the Apple Preview Plug-In, and then doesn't take no for an answer but goes on to ask me two more times if I want install its crap I begin to understand why Apple hasn't allowed Flash onto the iPhone or the iPad.
    Ok, I'm done ranting for today. If the language is too strong (or honest) for Adobe's moderators, go ahead and delete me. It's not as if I'm actually going to waste money on you again.

  • How do I reinstall Safari plug-ins?

    How do I reinstall Safari plug-ins, for example, the Google Earth plug-in? Should I delete the old one first, or is it ok to just install on top of it?
    I am having trouble with the Google Earth plug-in working.
    thanks

    Delete the old one first. However, if you just open the Extensions preferences in Safari you can click the Update button to download new updates if they are available.

    If u r trying to book an appointment with US visa office, ustraveldocs website is the place . It was dissappointing to see a message posted "do not use safari, there are known issues"..wanted to know has that been resolved? If yes, can ask that message be deleted...since this happens to be a US govt website, it puts really lot of strain on the users seeking appointment via ipad mini...we have to find non safari browser, then complete appointment process...http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/ is the website where one comes across that message while making payment for booking appointment....is that a known issue?...

    Someone posted today (9/19/06) on the MacInTouch forums that they just got their MacBook back from repair for RSD, and the replaced parts were:
    APP-630-7872 PCB, MLB, 2.0GHZ DC, SMS/KIONI
    APP-607-0142 ASSY, HEATSINK, M42
    This is the first post I have seen that shows a different part number for the heat sink than the one for my repair from almost a month ago:
    APP-603-8071 ASSY, HEATSINK, M42
    Perhaps interesting.

  • Removing Safari plug-in

    Today I was futzing around and saw a website that advertised videos including movies, tv shows, etc.  I thought I would take a gander at it just to see how it worked.  When I started a video, it said I had to install a Safari plug-in.  Without think too much, I went ahead and installed the plug-in and the movies started working (spanish subtitiles).  I'm done with the site and would like to remove the plug-in as I'm a bit concerned about malware.
    I found a list of the plug-ins within Safari, but can't find the said plug-in.  Should I be concerned about the plug-in if I never go back to the website?  And if I were to find the plug-in, how would I uninstall it?

    Uninstall SIMBL as follows. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V), and press return. A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below (some may be absent.) You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
    Application Support/SIMBL
    InputManagers/SIMBL.bundle
    LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
    ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
    Log out and log back in.
    Make sure you never reinstall SIMBL. It’s likely to come bundled with another third-party system modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

  • QuickTime Safari Plug-In Issues

    Hi, I have a 2010 mac that runs on snow leopard and I have both QuickTimeX? (latest version I think) and QuickTime 7.6.6 installed. I tried to stream a video clip on safari the other day, and while the graphics were fine and smooth, the audio would produce static "pops" like a "ch" sound at intervals throughout the clip. The period between the intervals was characterized by no audio. So basically "ch" silence for  5 seconds, "ch" again, silence for 5 seconds etc. video being fine.
    Does anyone know how to fix this? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    Your "kitty" feed works just fine for me using Safari and Snow Leopard.
    Difficult to diagnose the cause as there is no longer a QuickTime "System Preferences" pane where settings can be tested.
    The "negotiating" is talk between your streaming server and the browser plug-in. Once things are settled out playback begins. And it works for me but not for you.
    Test the page using a different User account. This helps rule out many issues.

  • Issue closing mobile safari's top webpage

    Hi everyone,
    I'm a webdeveloper and I'm facign some problems using JavaScript.
    I have a routine that opens the navigator and reconfigure it(remove some bars, resize the navigator and another small things), it runs ok when I use Safari for PC and for Mac, but the situation doesn't repeat in Mobile Safari for iPad.
    When I try to run the same routine in iPad, the page blinks and close itself when I allow the pop-up manager to open the webpage, I read in the internet that some navigators don't allow to close the pages that aren't opened by script, for example(window.open("url")).
    How can I handle it?
    I tried to use this alternatives:
    - window.close()
    - self.close()
    - this.close()
    - top.close()
    - self.window.close()
    - function anyfunction(){
         window.open('', '_self', '');
            window.opener = 'x';
            window.close();
    Please, can anybody help me?
    Thanks in Advance!

    I have the same issue on my phone and I think it may due to the latest software upgrade. I use to be able to add a safari shortcut on my home page by hitting the "+" key and then tapping on "Add to Home Screen". However this function is no longer available on my phone. My wife's phone still has it because she has not upgraded her software yet. I have restored my phone as a new phone but that did not solve the problem either. Would appreciate any help from the forum.
