Safari Pop-up

I have just started to get a pop-up in Safari which says:  WebProcess wants to sign using key "Apple ID Authentication 2011-12-26 17:26:47 GMT - 08:00 in your keychain. Do you want to allow access to this item? What does this mean? Should I allow?

nabster83 and harley22, I had the same issue (even with my own server). The problem arises when the remote webpage requires a client certificate – which is rare. Additionally, this makes only sense, if the webpage requires the client certificate optionally, which is even rarer. Finally, you need to have only a single client certificate in your Apple Keychain (for example the Apple ID one). Then Apple Keychain asks you whether to sign.
My solution:
opened Apple Keychain
searched for idms, one object of the type certificate appeared
export that certificate (back it up for the furture)
deleted that certificate
Because that Apple certificate is going to come back when you use iChat for example, this is not a long-term solution. Therefore, I filled a bug report (radar://14426316). Until this is resolved, the only solution I see, is to use another Internet browser.

  • Disabling Safari Pop-Up

How can I disable the following Safari pop-up:
"Are you sure you want to send this form again?"
I am a seller at Amazon and have opened and closed Safari three times over the last 5 years because of that pop-up. When editing my listings, I need to back space three times each one is completed and this pop-up really slows things down. It does not happen at Mozilla or Internet Explorer but I need another site to work on a specific project. I really like Safari but not with this annoying feature.

There is an extension called Safari AdBlock that may work for you.
It's located in the Productivity category in Safari > Safari Extensions...
Very hand as you are aware. you can toggle the extension on/off easily from Safari > Preferences - Extensions.

  • I turned off Safari pop up blocker but it still says I have a pop up blocker.  How do I find pop-up blockers?

I have turned the pop-up blocker off in Safari, but I still am getting the message to turn off my pop up blocker when I try to read my e-mail in AOL.  It will not let me click on any e-mail to go to a web site.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

  • Can't DownloadFirefox for Mac. download disappears from download window in safari. pop up windows are not blocked.

I have watched firefox download. Once it is complete it disappears from the download window in Safari.
My pop up blocker is shut off.
I can download when I am in Administrator mode but not under individual username account.

You should be able to check in Safari to find where downloads are going, in Preferences > General. You can also change the download directory for Safari. If you cannot get Safari to work on that computer, maybe download Firefox on some other computer and transfer the file on a flash stick or CD.

  • Safari pop up window to large

When I click to add an image for example to cragilist the window that pops up is huge why is this?
How do I make it normal size?

    Hi...
Try dragging up or down from the bottom of the window.
If you hover your mouse just over the bottom of that window you shoud see a small black line with arrows at both ends. Just drag up.
Same for the sides of a Safari window or the bottom right or left corner.

In that case, you should consider your computer to have been compromised. The people who had control are scammers, and they may have done all manner of things, including installing keyloggers or leaving back doors into your system. The only possible way to fix this is to erase the hard drive and reinstall everything from scratch. See:
How to reinstall Mac OS X from scratch
If you gave them a credit card number as well, you should report this to your credit card company.

  • Safari pop-up EXCEPTION list

I bet I am not the only on who wants an "exception list" to allow pop-ups. The current solution is "all or nothing". I am aware this is for security reasons but some radio stations for instance when accessed via tunein (which is my preference) require to open in pop-ups.
Most other browsers have an "allow pop-up exceptio list" ...the current Safari (Maviericks on Feb 12, 2014) does not seem to have it, does it?
or is there a Mac App that does this?
Safari - Preferences - Security  - Web content:  enable JavaScript  - Block Pop-up Windows  (I have both unchecked, yet I have to uncheck 'bloc pop-up windows' every time I want to listen to specific radio stations via tunein*)
This is making me use Chrome or Firefox which allows exceptions ...seems like a simple/common feature to implement for Safari to keep as preferred browser.
Thanks in advance for detailed replies, since I'm relatively new to Apple.
    * I prefer using TuneIn for radio access (than itunes or the old radio app on Apple TV) since I can classify radio stations in folders and log in to my TuneIn account in TuneIn apps for iOS, Vizio, Roku, etc.  Soap box: the old radio app in itunes (not i-tunes radio) needs major revamping to allow mgmt, reason why may people prefer TuneIn and the reason for this question on allowing pop-up exceptions.

  • Safari Pop up buttons / javascript

I want to be able to select a specific item in a list of a pop up button in safari, i can do it by using a repeat statement and get value of button, with key codes simulating down arrow. This is tediously slow to the say the least. When i go view source of the page there is an identifier for the option i want, option value="f724". Is there a way to set the value of the pop up button to this number, i cant seem to do it. I was reading around the forum and found some mentions of the term do javascript but i have no idea how to implement it in this case, or if it at least possible.

My search_replace(x, y, z) subroutine was a very basic attempt at encoding the URL properly. As it happens omitting the handler entirely and just setting keyword to text returned of result works the same in this case. The spaces get replaced with %20 by default, and the Discussions search app doesn't seem to mind.
This style of search & replace is known as a "text item delimiters" or TIDs for short. You may have heard of a tab-delimited file. These contain cells of information separated by tabs. In the case of AppleScript's text item delimiter, we can set it to tab or any other character, and then ask for a string's "text items" provided in list form. So the steps taken by the handler in pseudo code are:
    1. Pass the text returned of the display dialog command to the search_replace handler, along with the search string "space" and the replace string "+"
    result: {"yellow fever", space, "+"}
    2. save whatever the current value of text item delimiters is
This is to avoid potential conflicts with other code that may be using the delimiters property.
    result: {"[… anything]", ""}
    3. change the value of text item delimiters to space
By defining " " (space) as a delimiter, we are effectively stripping every occurrence of the space character out of our string. This is because it can now be seen as a special delimiter character, as opposed to a literal one.
    4. get the text items of our string as a list
    result: {"yellow", "fever"}
    5. change the value of text item delimiters to the + symbol
While our text string is a list, we are going to be sneaky and change the delimiter property from space to plus sign, like the one found in our original URL at Apple Discussions.
    6. coerce the list of text items back to a string
When AppleScript coerces a list into a string, it automatically inserts the delimiter character you have defined in between each item.
    result: "yellow+fever"
    7. set the delimiter back to the way we found it in step 2
The way I've written all this in actual code is highly abbreviated. To help read it easier remember that I'm addressing a reference to the delimiters, so every time you see the word "contents," that is referring to the text item delimiters. Also note that
    set {a, b} to {"a", "b"}
    is the same thing as
    set a to "a"
    set b to "b"
The only difference is that the former is written in one line, and the latter is written on two lines.

  • Safari pop-up's?

My ipad keeps getting 'google-play' pop-up's and other ones (thanks to my brother using my ipad and going on unsavory sights) and no matter what I do, they won't go away.
    I've:
    1. cleared my history
    2. cleared cookies and data
    3. deleted my website data
    4. restored by ipad to factory settings and then used icloud to restore all my things
Nothing works for me. I'm thinking that if I restore my ipad and don't use icloud, will the pop-up's stop? They pop-up almost every time I load a new page and when I go back, it goes back two few pages so I'd have to go through the try and go through the same link again only for the pop-up to start again. (I.e. I'm on google and go on a wiki page, the google-play window will load over the wiki one, I'll go back and i'll be on google again. After that, if I click on wiki again, the google-play will load over again (THIS DOES NOT ONLY HAPPEN WHE I'M ON GOOGLE)).
I've asked this before, for more detailed please go to:

Please help me, I'm going back to uni soon and could really use the internet to help me with my studies. I'm desperate.

  • Macbook Pro Safari pop up's

Over the last couple of weeks pop up's have started appearing on every new page I open in Safari, the same happens with Chrome, when I search on Google another page opens with adverts and the google search is pushed down below a series of adverts.  Also, numbers in the text of searches are double underlined and when you rest on them it opens up an advert - does anyone know how to get rid of it please???
    Thank you in anticipation.

  • Can't stop random safari pop-up/wordpress widget

I am using a 2009 iMac running Mavericks.  This problem happens several times daily.  If I'm using Safari, a tab pops up and a web page is displayed, all blank white except for the message "no hotlinking please."  If I'm not using Safari, Safari opens up and displays this.  I don't even know what it means!  The title in the tab says "wordpress.com widget"
I was unable to post the screenshot due to content, but I found one someone else posted to Yahoo Answers here.

Why is this happening?  How do I stop this from happening?

This procedure will reset your Dashboard configuration to the default.
    Back up all data.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    defaults delete com.apple.dashboard layer-gadgets && killall Dock
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal. Test.

  • IMac OS X 10.9.4 Safari Pop Up

    Hi Everyone,
Was hoping that you could help me in troubleshooting the Safari Brower Issues. Recently today after restarting my computer, I have noticed that there has been pop ups like crazy happening in my Safari Browser. The Pop Up Blocker in my Safari settings is enabled but somehow it is getting passed it. As well, I noticed that even when I am in Google searching, there are all these other adds within google that pop up that haven't before. (Safari Power Saver, Dyanmic Pricer etc) I have had this mac since August 2008 and have never had this issue however 6 years later having issues. Is there any kind of software that you recommend that can do a scan of the computer to see if there is any virus? I have already called into apple but paying 60 bucks for 30 day phone support with no guarantee to fix is an absolute last option (Student with lots of debt) Any information would be greatly appreciated!
