Safari Redirecting Automatically
Okay,
I've been having a problem with my Safari browser on my iPhone 3GS. Whenever I visit a certain site (yes, it's a family friendly site) my Safari browser gets redirected to an advertisement for a not-so-family-friendly site. The phone is not jailbroken, and though it is connected to a wireless network, neither of my other computers are having an issue. I also disconnected the phone from the wifi and got the same results on Safari with the same site using my network provider. I cleared the cookies and history, then restarted to no avail. I even restored the phone to factory settings and that didn't help. Please, can anyone help me figuring out what's going on? I'd really love for this issue to go away! Thanks!
If you tried the website in factory settings, than it has nothing to do with the phone and it would be the website! Websites can be different for mobile. Example: Google has a site for computers, and a different site for mobile. That's been my experience anyways, so maybe the site you want to go to is not avialable for mobile, and safari routes you to some site that has the same title. Not fair, but its a possibility

Safari redirecting to **** site
This started happening December 2011.
Whenever I click on a link in one of my e-mails and the link opens on Safari, the original page I intended to see will load and stay there for a while, and then Safari will automatically redirect to one of two sites, either sexgoesmobile.com or something called VOB something. I have never visited these pages before on my phone (or anywhere else for that matter), and I have my phone constantly with me so I know that no one else has viewed these pages on my phone.
It's not a pop-up, it's redirecting - Safari doesn't open a new page. About 10% of the times I open a certain link, Safari won't redirect and I'll be able to read what I want in peace, but the other 90% it happens.
I've tried cleaning cookies and browser history, restarted my phone and the iOS is updated. I don't know what else to do.I would restore as new, i.e. without yor backup. You'll then need to re-setup your email, reinstall your apps and resync your iTunes library.

Safari Redirected to Adbaaz website
Hello all,
I'm using an iBook G4 with Safari browser. Recently, Safari would automatically redirects itself to Adbaaz website with the keyword of the webpage that I intended to go to. This would happen if I would want to go to a forum, clicking a link from a google search page, to a blog, or even some online newspaper website.
On some days, the same website i.e www.yahoo.com will load properly, but on some days it will be redirected.
I have checked with other users within my company and some have reported that they were facing the same problem as well, although they are using Windows and not Macs.
I have googled for some solution but have found solutions for Windows. The link could be found here :
http://www.boldinteractive.com/2007/09/24/adbaazcom-redirects-sites-using-tracki ng-code-supplied-by-websourcedtrafficcom/
but no solution can be found for a Mac user.
I have also checked whether I have the OSX.RSPlug.A Trojan (not that I have installed any codec whatsoever) just to be sure following the advice from here :
http://www.macworld.com/2007/10/firstlooks/trojanhorse/index.php
but my Mac is clean.
Tried using ClamXAV to detect any spyware/malware/virus/trojan but even after clearing/fixing the findings, the problems still persists.
I am connected through an Ethernet to my company's server which gives out the DNS. Not sure which OS is the server running on though.
Any help is greatly appreciated. This is a shot in the dark but check to make sure. With Safari open, click Safari/Preferences/General in the Menu. With the General tab open, where it says; New window open with... if the pop menu shows: Homepage... make sure the Homepage url isn't the url redirect address.
Carolyn
Also... try using a different user. If you are the only person who uses your Mac and you use just the admin account, go to System Preferences/Accounts and create a new account. Name it Test.. or whatever want. Then log onto that account and see if Safari redirects to that url. If not, then the issue is isloated to just your Home Folder admin account and not system wide.
Carolyn
One more thing... try doing a Search with Spotlight. Use keywords like Network Solutions/Adbaaz
Look here for preference files: /Home/Library/Preferences. See if there is a preference file that looks similar to this: com.Adbaaz .plist (It may not be worded exactly like that but that's close)... trash any files with that name. -
Safari redirected to giveaway site (free IPAD etc.), cannot reset home page
On a new (3 day old) IMac Safari is automatically opening with a 'Giveaway' site that I cannot for the life of me eliminate. It looks like I may have picked it up when I accidentally misspelled Google when I was setting my homepage. Now I cannot reset the homepage, and I assume this site uses the misspelling as a gateway to load whatever it is that is causing the redirection, Scanning with ivirus, McAfee, and Norton has not resulted in detection. Any ideas or help?
As for your homepage, try troubleshooting the Safari plist file.
Quit Safari if it's open.
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Launch Safari. If you can set your home page now, move that .plist file to the Trash. If not, move it back to the Preferences folder.
If that didn't help, from your Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 boxes, click Reset.
FYI... Norton / Symantec has been the cause of Safari crashing for years. Try a search in this forum to see the results. If you insist on having a/v software installed, keep McAfee but try uninstalling Norton. Most users end up having to erase the hard drive and start over. One a/v software installed is one thing, but two is overkill and will slow that brand new Mac drive down to a crawl. Scanning for a virus won't do any good. There aren't any Mac viruses.
It's probably Norton that is causing the re directs or your ISP.

Can I set up safari to automatically open PDF documents in the pages app?
Can I set up safari to automatically open PDF documents from the internet into the pages app?
No - and you can't open pdf files in the Pages app on the iPad anyway as far as I know. You can export a Pages file as a pdf but you can't open them in Pages.

How do I get Safari to automatically open Word, Excel, Etc. files?
I can't get Safari to automatically open Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. files when I click on them from a Web site or Web-based email. They are automatically downloaded, but not opened. PDF files, and other "safe" file types, open automatically. The ""Open safe files after downloading" box is checked.
Any Suggestions? Thanks.
- jcorroonThere is no glitch. Lion does support Office and Word. You can use Office 2008 or 2011.

Zooming Safari webpages automatically
I struggling to find the best way to zoom Safari webpages automatically. I have used an extension called AllPagesZoom but when used on Youtube pages
I'm unable to drag player scrolls properly and some radio button problems too.
I have seen a solution using CSS Style Sheet to zoom but it didn't work for me. I'm wondering if there may be a solution where auto zoom is as simple as in
Chrome browsers.I actually got it working now. My mistake.
The CSS Style Sheet zooming method works now.
For further information please consult the site below and use the provided 'attached files'.

Is there any way to get the "Search with google" feature in safari to automatically open the link in a new tab?
I am indifferent as to the solution, whether it be an extension, plug-in or apple script using automator as long as it is well documented.
Have yet to see an elegant solution.Hold down the command key while selecting the menu item.

Whenever I try to open my System Preferences it takes a long time to think about it then crashes, below is the error report.
Also noticed that Safari opens automatically when I turn my Macbook on. About 6 weeks ago I had trouble with the Macbook picking up our wireless connection at home so I went and fiddled with some things in System Preferences (ill-advised as I know nothing about these things) so have I just unticked something important or do I have a bug? Any help is appreciated!

The reason I asked about QuickLook is because there's something in the Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/ called com.apple.quicklookdaemon.plist that keeps returning evening when you trash it. Thought this might be suspicious. -

Is there a way to to set up safari for automatic private browsing?
Without having to select it from the safari tab each time you launch the app.?
Automatically. Is there a way to to set up safari for automatic private browsing... Without having to select it from the safari tab each time you launch the app.?
Here's one option...
Follow these steps to ensure that Private Browsing is turned on automatically each time Safari launches:
1) Under System Preferences > Universal Access, check "Enable access for assistive devices."
2) Copy the code below and paste it into your AppleScript Script Editor, located in your Applications > AppleScript folder:
*activate application "Safari"*
*tell application "System Events"*
*tell process "Safari"*
*click menu item "Private Browsing…" of menu 1 of menu bar item "Safari" of menu bar 1*
*if exists button "OK" of window 1 then*
*click button "OK" of window 1*
*end if*
*end tell*
*end tell*
From the Script Editor's File menu choose Save As > File Format: application, and leave the Options unchecked. Place the saved script in your User > Library > Scripts folder, or in some other out-of-the-way place on your hard drive.
3) Download and install Do Something When. Set up a new rule with Do Something When and configure it to open the newly saved AppleScript app when Safari launches.
Works for me, using Mac OS 10.4.11.
Best regards... Good luck. -
I just downloaded Lion. Now when I open Safari, it automatically opens to the last page visited. How do I reset it to open to a blank page as it did previously?
Dealing With The Resume Feature of Lion
Managing Mac OS X Lion's application resume feature.
If you shutdown your computer you should get a dialog asking if you want applications to resume on the next startup. Simply uncheck the box to prevent that from occurring. Open General preferences and uncheck the option to Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps. You can also install a third-party utility to control resume features on individual applications: RestoreMeNot or Application State Cleaner.
It is possible to completely stop the Resume feature although I'm unconvinced that it is that annoying. Nevertheless see the following:
If you have not yet done so you must first make your /Home/Library/ folder visible. Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder. At the prompt paste the following command line:
chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press RETURN. Quit the Terminal application.
In the Finder navigate to the /Home/Library/Saved Application State/ folder. Delete the contents of the folder. Back up to the /Home/Library/ folder. Select the Saved Application State folder. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the Sharing and Permissions panel at the bottom click on the lock icon and authenticate. Set each of the listed entries to Read Only. Close the Get Info window.
Quit all open programs except the Finder (this is very important.) Next, navigate to the /Home/Library/Preferences/ByHost/ folder. Look for a .plist file with "com.apple.loginwindow." in the file name followed by some numbers in hexadecimal. Select the file. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window and in the Sharing and Permissions panel click on the lock icon and authenticate. Set each of the listed entries to Read Only. Close the Get Info window. If you also find a file with the same filename but with a last extension of ".lockfile," then you should delete it.
The above should eliminate the Resume feature system-wide. Note that any future system updates or upgrades will likely undo these changes. You will then need to repeat this procedure assuming there are no major changes in OS X related to it. -
Why is safari redirecting to Yahoo Guesthouse
I have a iPhone 5. When I go to Safari to search something it automatically redirects my phone to Yahoo Guesthouse. I have never used Yahoo Guesthouse and have no clue what it is. How do I get my phone to stop doing this!
Thank youOpen Terminal and type
pico /etc/hosts
and press enter, if you see something like this your fine
Use the arrow keys to mouse down and if there is anything below what you see on the image above (below the last two "localhost" lines) you have been compromised. Delete those lines and Exit, it will ask to save which you will need to enter the admin password.
If that doesnt' work use
sudo pico /etc/hosts
and perform the same operation, if your in standard user, switch to admin user first as sudo won't work in standard user by default.
Once you've done that use Software Update, it fixes a fake certificate issue.
You should backup your user file folders (Music, Library, Documents etc) to a external drive (not TimeMachine) and hold Command R and boot into the Lion Recovery Partition and install Lion on top of your installed version then Software Update.
Reinstalling Lion without erasing the OS x partition just replaces Lion and Apple's bundled programs, not your third party programs or files (but you backup anyway just in case you have too)
If one of your third party programs is a trojan, you really should replace all with fresh copies.
Also use Firefox with NoScript, Ad Block Plus and Web of Trust (WOT) as these will help protect yur machine and you from being compromised.
